I was raised there…….this is so true. Sad part is so many of our people where the ones who gave me a lot of grief because my mother was so afro-centric. I wore braids and was teased, my mother wore african clothing and I was called the child of an african booty scratcher. You shouldn’t be ashamed of who you are. Black people can do some crazy and treacherous things as well. These activities don’t escape any race. At the end of the day I love being black. Embrace who you are and never be ashamed.

I am white too, I grew up on west coast, a great grandchild of immigrants from Europe in the early 1900s. Thus, I do have any family who were even in the U.S. to partake in slavery etc and I get fed up with being categorized with certain groups. And lastly, I am grateful I did not grow up in the South as there seems to be a lot of segregation I cannot wrap my mind around. And this is coming from a person who steadily researches and studied anthropology and race relations and I have a very open mind to people’s struggles. Therefore, I am saying I don’t and will not turn a blind eye to injustice.
