Men, do you sometimes experience a heavy feeling in your testicles? Is one of your testicles larger than the other? Do you see blood in your semen when you ejaculate?
You might be suffering from Orchitis, or swelling and inflammation in one or both of your testicles.
Orchitis can be caused by injury to the scrotal area, infection in the testicles (epididymitis), STDs such as chlamydia or gonorrhea, or damage to the blood vessels in your testicles.
In boys, Orchitis is caused by the same virus that causes Mumps.
SIGNS and SYMPTOMS
Signs and symptoms of orchitis include visible swelling in the scrotal area, swelling in the lymph nodes on either side of your genital area (infection), blood in your semen (hematospermia), blood in your urine (hematuria), intense pain in your genital area.
Treatment includes oral antibiotics to treat infection, and NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as Motrin to relive pain.
