Lil Wayne

Jimmy Carlton Winfrey was sentenced to serve 10 years in prison for shooting up rap mogul Li’l Wayne’s tour bus.

Gossip tabloid TMZ reports Winfrey pled guilty to 6 of the 27 counts after shooting at Wayne’s tour bus in Cobb County, north of Atlanta, last April.

No one on the tour bus was injured.

Winfrey was ordered to serve 10 years in prison and 10 years on probation, which means Winfrey got a break.

According to the indictment obtained by TMZ, after the shooting, Winfrey used a cellphone that was registered to rap mogul Brian “Birdman” Williams. Birdman is being sued by Li’l Wayne over a contract dispute with Cash Money Records.

Birdman has not been charged in the case.

Winfrey, who was rapper Young Thug’s road manager, was featured in rap tycoon T.I.’s MTV reality TV series Road to Redemption.

Prior to that, Winfrey was T.I.’s teenage protege. The 2 met years ago when Winfrey was a young aspiring rap artist.

Before you compare Winfrey’s sentence to the light sentence handed down to T.I. for his gun collection, just remember that T.I. didn’t discharge his weapons in public.
