Tamar Braxton

Reality TV star Tamar Braxton was hospitalized this week with blood clots in both of her lungs. As you know, blood clots, aka pulmonary embolism, are potentially dangerous if they travel too deep into the lung or if they lodge in the heart.

The part-time singer was rushed to a local hospital earlier this week suffering from what was initially reported as pneumonia.

She was discharged the same day and returned to Dancing With the Stars, despite feeling poorly.

As a result of her serious illness Braxton was unable to continue competing in Dancing With the Stars.

The 38-year-old mother of one broke the news to her followers on social media by posting a photo of herself and her disappointed dance partner, Val Chmerkovskiy.

With a Heavy heart I regret to inform you that my season of #dwts has to come to an end along with the rest of my tour dates with @musicbykem. After yesterday’s final #dwts performance I went back to the hospital (after the doctors didn’t want me to leave in the first place) only to find out that I don’t have pneumonia but something way more serious and that is having several P.E.’s (blood clots in both sides of my lungs) As you all know I will be the first to always encourage anyone to push through any obstacle that comes along one’s way. But in this case, my health is my current obstacle. .. And in TRUE #tamartian form I must go about this the exact same way as I would anything else. I woke up to a mirror and saw myself this morning and that makes me the winner because that almost wasn’t the case. ?Take care of yourselves… I love you and thank you ALL for your support.”

in 2011 Sandrarose.com broke the story that Tamar’s husband, Vince Herbert, was hospitalized for 40 days with blood clots in his lungs.

Media guru Nick Cannon was hospitalized with blood clots in July, and rapper Heavy D died of blood clots in his lungs in 2011.
