Mia X

Rapper-turned-chef and restauranteur Mia X reveals she was diagnosed with uterine cancer.

Mia confirmed her cancer diagnosis in a post on Instagram.com on Wednesday. She explained that she learned her diagnosis in 2015 — a year after she donated to The National Breast Cancer Foundation.

She wrote:

“What a difference a year makes. In 2014 myself and @ruffinsbbq did a cook off for charity. It was awesome we even rocked the mic together. I didn’t have a foundation so I asked @djro504 if I could have him present my cash donation to The National Breast Cancer Foundation under his DET Foundation. Well in less than a year I found myself getting my own diagnosis. A malignant tumor that developed in my uterus.”

Mia celebrated her 46th birthday (Jan. 9) with close friends and former rappers YoYo, Lady of Rage, and Roxanne Shante in her native New Orleans, where she is undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatments.

Mia was dubbed “The First Lady of No Limit Records” after No Limit founder Master P signed her in the early 1990s. Mia rose to fame alongside No Limit’s stable of male rappers, Silk the Shocker, Mystikal, C-Murder and (later) Snoop Dogg.

The Mama Mia X — What a difference a year makes. A malignant tumor that developed in my uterus. Then right here on Instagram I met my Warrior /Capricorn sister @boldandbreastless She surprised me and popped up on 2nd & D to give me a warm hug kind words and a bonding experience I will never forget. Our birthdays are 2 days apart and I’m happy to announce that she agreed that if The Creator says the same. Next year we will party together and raise funds for Breast and Gynecological Cancers. I am determined to help raise awareness and help women to fight this aggressive hater called Cancer that is trying to kill us.
