Last year, I told you that 1 out of every 3 black gay males in Atlanta was HIV positive. The CDC just released the latest statistics, and the numbers are worse.

The new CDC stats shows half of all black gay men will be HIV positive in their lifetime.

"These estimates are a sobering reminder that gay and bisexual men face an unacceptably high risk for HIV—and of the urgent need for action,” said Dr. Eugene McCray, director of the CDC’s Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention. "If we work to ensure that every American has access to the prevention tools we know work, we can avoid the outcomes projected in this study."

Half of gay and bisexual black men and a quarter of gay and bisexual Hispanic men will be diagnosed with HIV in their lifetimes, the Centers for Disease Control announced in a first-of-its-kind study on Tuesday.

While the lifetime risk of a positive HIV diagnosis has fallen from 1 in 78 Americans overall in 2005 to 1 in 99 today, the decline has not been distributed equally among the U.S. population. For the foreseeable future, the CDC estimates that gay, bisexual, black and Hispanic people will continue to bear the brunt of the HIV epidemic. The new study is the first time that the CDC has estimated lifetime HIV risk based on race.

    Yikes!

  • darealQueenNefertiti

    Well....

  • IAmLegend

Yea this is probably true. The problem is most young black men in general no longer fear HIV. They think they can tell if someone is positive by looking at them or by asking. Some people who have HIV will never admit that they have it and others have never been tested so they don't even know they have it but will be the first to say they are negative.

  • AG

I am sure that denial plays a major factor. These men are going to have to be more truthful about their lifestyles, and start protecting themselves accordingly.

It's awful, a lot of these guys be taking off they're condoms if your not paying attention especially during doggie style . The horrible part is a lot of guys use sex to relieve alot of stress they maybe dealing with or its like a recreational hobby for many.

Even though I'm not a gay Black man, this is sad. When will people learn to wrap it up?? And when will HOMOSEXUAL men learn to live in their TRUTH and stop living lies?? Being married to women, perpetrating da fraud, pretending to be straight while sleeping with random gay strangers?

  • IAmLegend

The problem with that is most black boys are raised in church or in a religious minded household where they are told that being gay is bad and wrong. So psychologically they are programmed to want to be anything but gay. It would take something major for a straight acting gay man to come out and risk losing his friends, family and reputation. Only the feminine flamboyant ones really come out because its harder for them to hide it.

We've been hearing for years about HIV in the gay, bi black and Latino community, yet our ppl are still not taking it serious. The numbers are changing for other ethnic groups, but getting worst for ours. We can't blame it on education anymore or lack there of. Its about responsibility now.

  • Sheyonce

YES! Just heard a similar story from a friend. The guy was in denial and ended up in the hospital with pneumonia, literally almost died, all because he didn't want to accept his status and take the necessary steps to take care of himself. In my mind, that means he also didn't share his status with his partners. Ignoring it doesn't make it go away, it just puts more folks at risk.

  • Fendi

This is a wake up call for women as much as it is for men. One of these days, women will start valuing themselves more than they value their relationships. The world has changed.

Will be...Future tense...We can change that if we break away from our archaic ways/views #Message Throwing bibles and bible verses at gays ain't working. Looking down upon gay sex ain't working. In fact, the refusal to accept the gay lifestyle (at least partially) gave birth to the down low life style...Which in part, paved the way for the rise in HIV amongst Black women. So...If you come on here talking about I'm sick of gay this, I'm sick of gay that, but get yo edges glued on by a gay hair dresser,,, Go to a church where your male choir members be lowkey vogueing whilst praising, got an uncle/brother/male cousin named Sasha...Yeah, you're a hypocrite, and are at least part(ially) responsible here. Thoughts and prayers ain't working. Bible thumping ain't working. AND don't be surprised if it soon hits close to home. You may not like the gays, but ya man may?? And he wouldn't even be your man if the I don't like the gay people weren't so vocal. So, yeah...It's time to be proactive, realistic, and accepting??

I dont care what anyone says... This is what happens when society tries to normalize abnormal behavior.
God didn't make a man's rectum as a place for another man to stick his penis into. That kind of stuff is just beyond unnatural.

  • 80sChild

It amazes me that most people don't use condoms and are so careless with whom they have sex with, I'm 41 and I've been celibate for 9 years this month (no sex, no kissing, nothing) and the more foolishness I see makes me want to stay celibate for the rest of my life!! It's safer that way.

  • Sheyonce

Seriously. Just seeing all the unplanned pregnancies says that we aren't taking our lives seriously. Reckless behavior is a huge risk.

  • Fendi

Religious affiliations aren't an excuse for anyone not accepting responsibility for their actions. They know if they're being careless about their sexual behaviors, they can contract STDs and have unwanted pregnancies.

People love to make excuses for not assuming accountability and responsibility for what they do. And with that, you have people who are sexually irresponsible, spreading HIV and other diseases like wildfire.

  • Jahnée Gill Mr.Eddie Murphy

Was just watching True Life on this topic & both people on the show were VERY OPEN & HONEST with their status...Dude was gay & the girl contracted it @ birth...Both SHOWED the struggle with telling people...He spoke his truth & no one wanted to date him; She was in a relationship for a few months & dude breaks up with her...COULD APPRECIATE BOTH OF THEIR HONESTY, BUT COULD NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THEY BOTH WERE UPSET WHEN PEOPLE DIDN'T WANT SEX OR FURTHER THINGS--THIS IS NOT A COLD, THAT YOU CAN TAKE PENICILLIN FOR & CURE...

  • Sheyonce

Yes, but HIV isn't the only STD folks can get. Condom usage would certainly make a huge difference.

  • mela.reign77

For some reason people don't seem to care about being HIV positive now a days. I don't care if you're gay or straight if you are not careful there's still a 50% chance of contracting the Virus. It's a scary thing and that's why I would rather practice being abstinent than being in a sexual relationship with someone who's probably out here sleeping with everyone. Heck you have to be careful with someone you've been with for years. You never know and sadly enough men don't go to The doctor as often as they should and are the carriers of so many viruses and diseases because they're not getting regular check ups and are spreading the nasty cooties to everybody. Just be careful and get checked!

  • LeBrick James

So those who say gay behavior is unnatural and immoral are to blame for the reckless sexual behavior of gay men?
    Really?

  • Fendi

Married women contract HIV and other STDs. You may be faithful, but your husband may not be. Not claiming anything negative over your marriage, but I've seen women who've contracted HIV during the course of their marriage because of the husband's behavior.

Women who have gone through menopause should also be concerned. Just because you they can't get pregnant doesn't mean they can't contract STDs. They should be practicing "safe" sex.

And these women may only have one child by one man, but the men have 5 kids by 3, 4 or 5 different women, which means they've been with at least one woman, statistically, who has herpes, if not another STD.

Once a person contracts an STD, their immune system is compromised, making them more susceptible to HIV. Women need to be careful if they're dating a man who ever contracted an STD, even if it is curable.

And why is the cdc using our taxes to fund Future projections based on race which ends up being less than 2% of the population in the projected high diagnosis states? Why? They also said 50% of black women have genital herpes. The fact that this "gay white male homosexual disease" #reaganyears is now synonymous with black men smells like supremacy to me. The tests they used to test Africans were expired. Turns out the population barely had HIV and now the big international book of travel (they pull it out when you go abroad w/o USA passport) says all these African nations have infectious diseases. Why? #scaretactics. Their numbers are declining and ours are climbing. Yes Brenden #allblacklivesmatter

OK. I think man to woman anal is nasty too. Not just man to man. So you're not really counteracting my point in any way.
The fact remains, the vast majority of HIV transmission among gay men is via anal sex. That's a known fact, and that's what's contributing to this epidemic among gay men.

You didn't post to disseminate accurate information. You posted to be prejudicial against gay men. Perhaps, there's some insecurity on your part as it pertains to your sexuality.

The primary number of HIV patients are not homosexual, but heterosexual. We all engage in "deviant" behaviors, sexually or otherwise, so to single out homosexuals is archaic and unnecessary.

You can feel free to mention the heterosexual males having unprotected sex at alarming rates with multiple women. You can also feel free to mention the heterosexual males who have unprotected sex with heterosexual woman who are menstruating. A menstrual cycle happens to cleanse the woman's body. When you interfere with that, don't expect anything good to manifest.

I understand what you're conveying, but this post is about informing people, not singling out any one group of people when we've all acted personally irresponsible.

  • SameoleJ

People of ALL sexual proclivities dabble in reckless behavior.

  • IAmLegend

You are on point with this here. I used to be anti gay everything because of my religious upbringing. But when I grew up and realized that the black community is in trouble, I had to learn that acceptance of gay men is the only way we will be able to reduce the transmission of HIV among men and women. If gay men felt free to be who they are, they would have more self value and would in turn stop risking their lives (and the lives of others) with poor sexual behavior.

  • LeBrick James

ITA.......there is no excuse or justification for a down low lifestyle. NONE.
    *borrowed comment from another board/poster*

I lived this life and almost married into it. A person should not be condemned for their fundamental Christian beliefs about homose3uality. To anyone that reads this, understand that ALL of these men are not on the DOWNLOW because they are tortured spirits who do not feel accepted. Most of them are selfish men who want to attain an orga$m anyway they can-it is a pleasure seeking personality at the highest and most heinous form. As long as we continue to make up excuses for them and not put our foot down, it will continue to KILL African American women a staggering numbers. Understand this... many of them think it is a JOKE and laugh at you and other women they have deceived and betrayed-then move on to the next unsuspecting woman without consequence or accountability. As sinister as this sound, it is TRUE. It is all about the ORGA&M and NOTHING ELSE with many of them. Women need to stop being naive, turning a blind eye and being so understanding, that is what they count on and expect from African American women who are lonely, with low self esteems, materialistic and lack self control. That is why you will find that many of them are some the most successful and eligible black men in our society.

  • Fendi

Women cheat as well. I recall an account of a woman whose husband was unfaithful. In order to "pay [him] back," she sought to have sex with an HIV+ man. She found one, and he infected her. She is what is referred to as a "bug chaser." She then had sex with her husband, hoping to infect him, which she did.

    Marriage isn't an exemption.

I'm not defending a thing. This isn't the 1980's when HIV was dubbed the "gay men's cancer" or known as a gay men's disease because it primarily affected gay men. It is 2016. The face of HIV has changed. Sadly, that face is the Black woman.

HIV existed since the 1950's, conservatively, with the first patient being a 15 yo from St. Louis, MO named "Robert R." There were a couple gay European males after Robert who had Kaposi's sarcoma. They traveled a lot and were believed to be Patients Zero for the initial spread of the disease.

They can also transmit the disease via anal sex. A lot of young girls and women don't use condoms during anal, because they can't get pregnant performing anal sex. Washington (CNN)Emerging from a meeting in Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's office Tuesday, top Republican senators on the Senate Judiciary Committee said there will be no confirmation hearings on a Supreme Court nominee.

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham said that's the "consensus" view among Republicans on the committee and Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, of Texas, said the same.

"We believe the American people need to decide who is going to make this appointment rather than a lame-duck president," Cornyn said Tuesday as he left the meeting of top Republicans discussing how to handle the White House's promised nominee.

Graham told CNN separately he would not even meet with any nominee, should he or she make courtesy calls on the Hill.

This comes after McConnell issued his most definitive statement on Tuesday: There will be no Supreme Court nominee confirmed in President Barack Obama's final year in office.

In a sharply worded statement on the Senate floor, McConnell bluntly
warned the White House that the GOP-controlled Senate would not act on anyone he chooses to sit on the high court.

"Presidents have a right to nominate just as the Senate has its constitutional right to provide or withhold consent," McConnell said. "In this case, the Senate will withhold it."

The announcement prompted sharp criticism from Democrats, who contended that the GOP-led Senate was failing to do its job and would be risking its tenuous hold on the majority in the fall elections.

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid said McConnell was taking his marching orders from Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, who had called on the Senate to delay consideration of any nominee.

"That's exactly what the Republican leader is doing: Delay, delay, delay," Reid said. He angrily added that "333 days isn't enough to do the work that we do ordinarily do in 67 days."

But Democrats are uncertain over whether to bottle-up the Senate in
retaliation for the GOP's hardball move. And for the second day in a
row, Vice President Joe Biden is center stage as Senate Republican leaders are growing increasingly confident they can unite their party behind a hard-ball strategy to block any consideration of an Obama nominee.

Republicans are seizing on old Democratic talking points -- focused namely on then-Sen. Joe Biden -- to make their case against confirmation proceedings.

The latest revelation: A June 1992 interview Biden gave to The Washington Post, arguing against confirmation hearings of a prospective nominee by President George H.W. Bush to the nation's highest court.

"If someone steps down, I would highly recommend the President not name someone, not send a name up," Biden, then the Senate Judiciary Committee chairman, told the newspaper, noting how close it was to the November elections.

"If (Bush) did send someone up, I would ask the Senate to seriously consider not having a hearing on that nominee," Biden had said.

The comments from the nearly 24-year-old interview came after Republicans seized on a clip Monday of Biden making similar comments on the Senate floor. In response, Biden pushed back and said the GOP was taking his comments out of context.

"In the same statement critics are pointing to today, I urged the Senate
and White House to work together to overcome partisan differences to
ensure the court functions as the Founding Fathers intended," Biden said in a Monday statement. "That remains my position today."

Nevertheless, the comments gave new ammunition to the hardening GOP lines against anyone the President sends to Capitol Hill.

Republicans are worried that giving the new nominee an opportunity to present his or her case before a national audience will only give the White House momentum in confirming a nominee to replace the late Antonin Scalia, tipping the balance of the court. But it could present bad optics, especially if the nominee is viewed as highly qualified and Republicans refuse to meet with him or her.

Emerging from a leadership meeting Monday evening, Texas Sen. John Cornyn, the No. 2 Republican and member of the Judiciary Committee, flatly said "no" when asked if the Senate should convene hearings, saying voters in November should render the judgment.

McConnell said on the floor Monday night that he and Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley were unified against Obama sending anyone up. Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona, a swing GOP vote and member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, came out Monday against confirming anyone this year.

And some vulnerable Republicans were prepared to side with their party's leadership as well, a heartening development for the Senate GOP.

"I think we should not confirm someone this year, I think we should let
the people weigh in," said Sen. Rob Portman, a vulnerable Republican up for reelection from the battleground state of Ohio. "The credibility of
the court will be enhanced by that, too."

The Senate Republican members of the committee plan to huddle Tuesday morning in McConnell's office before a lunch with the full GOP
Conference, where party leaders expect the party to be mostly unified.

But at the same time, two moderate Republicans -- Sens. Mark Kirk of Illinois and Susan Collins of Maine --support holding hearings, giving Democrats confidence divisions are bound to grow in the GOP ranks once a nominee is proposed.

"We should take this process one step at a time as we always do under the regular order," Collins told CNN. "I would expect that there would be a hearing on a nominee when it's sent to us for our consideration... The
hearing would help me make a better decision."

Washington (CNN)The top U.S. military commander in South Korea said Tuesday that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un would use a weapon of mass destruction if he thought the fate of his rule was at stake.

If he "thought his regime were challenged he states that he would use
WMD," Gen. Curtis Scaparrrotti, commander of U.S. Forces Korea, told the Senate Armed Services Committee Tuesday.

Scaparrotti said that tensions on the Korean Peninsula were at their highest level in more than 20 years.

Adm.Harry Harris, commander of U.S. Pacific Command, said at the same hearing that if North Korea continues to develop ballistic missiles, a U.S. military option is possible.

The North Korean military warned the U.S. and South Korea Tuesday to expect retaliations for their annual joint military drill in March. The warning came in a statement released Tuesday via state media agency KCNA.

The U.S. maintains nearly 30,000 troops in South Korea.

North Korea's recent nuclear and long-range missile tests have prompted formal discussions on the deployment of the THAAD missile defense system, which can target short, medium and intermediate ballistic missiles in flight.

China has been outspoken in opposing deployment of the system, which it is worried could be used against its own launch systems.

Harris called China's opposition to missile defense aimed at North Korea "preposterous."

Harris also accused China of aggressive behavior in the South China Sea, noting its building of artificial islands and deployment of
anti-aircraft missiles and radar to islands in the region.

"China seeks hegemony in East Asia," he said.

He added, "China is clearly militarizing the South China Sea, and you'd have to believe in the flat Earth to think otherwise."

Black ppl are not dumb they are victims of a system dynamic the majority of Black ppl have yet to understand. That system dynamic is Racism White Supremacy

Racism (white supremacy) - is the local and global power system and dynamic, structure, maintained by persons who classify themselves as white, whether consciously or subconsciously determined; which consists of patterns of perception, logic, symbol formation, thought, speech, action, and emotional response, as conducted, simultaneously in all areas of people activity (economics, education, entertainment, labor, law, politics, religion, HEALTH, sex, and war); for the ultimate purpose of white genetic survival and to prevent white genetic annihilation on planet Earth - a planet upon which the vast and overwhelming majority of people are classified as non-white (black, brown, red and yellow) by white-skinned people, and all of the non-white people are genetically dominant (in terms of skin coloration) compared to the genetic recessive white-skinned people.

Until Black ppl as a unit understand this is the system we live under NOT a democracy we will continue on this genocide slide.

This is what religion has done to the black community
    ---------------------------
Religion has not done anything. The Bible tells us that being gay is an abomination against God, HOWEVER, you are not to judge and you are to still love one another because God is the only judge and jury. Maybe the Black community, and all communities for that matter, should stop twisting what the Bible says to suite them. And then not turn around and blame religion.

  • Just Keya

*hangs head* I know you yell it at me some days. Sorry. lmao

  • SameoleJ

You ever read a post and half agree with it, and get mad that you can't half upvote it? LOL

  • Fendi

I see my bae, Bren made a special guest appearance to represent for the gay community. Thank you @Brenden.

I'm going to convey this and I'm really off of this topic. Black people: When will we start assuming personal accountability and responsibility for our actions? When are women going to stop blaming men for our problems? When are men going to stop blaming women for their problems? If I decide to give myself to someone, outside of the confines of marriage, and something bad happens, whose fault is that? Mine. That was MY choice to be out in the world.

If I get married and I married a piece of crap and something bad happens, I can only take accountability for MY actions in the confines of that marriage. As much as we want to "trust" others, we can't. People aren't honest not for fear of judgment, but because being honest with others requires you to be real with yourself. Let's be honest and say that most of us aren't real with self, so when we meet someone, they meet our "representative." It takes a long time to tear down those walls before they get to see who we really are. It's no difference with sex. It can take you YEARS to get to know someone, so if that's the case and you have sex with them minutes or hours after you met them, wtf do you expect?!.

This isn't a church thing, because the devil is in the church as much as God is. It's not a gay thing, because there are plenty of HIV-, monogamous gay couples. There are also a lot of cheating ass, lying ass married heterosexual couples, who married in the church, and forgot their vows of fidelity.

We're all going to do us. Women need not act like all women are clean. There are some funky bxtches out here like there are funky dicks. It isn't easy for a woman to infect a man with HIV, but it is possible.

On that note, please develop discernment. Use it. Love yourself before you love anyone else. Be discriminating. Don't be careless. Get tested. Get treated if you have something. And for God's sake, BE HONEST. Don't wait for someone to ask you if you have something. Give full disclosure so this cycle can stop being perpetuated.

I love you and and pray for our collective and individual welfare. (Even the a-holes.) ?

  • Let Your Soul Glow

Personally, I'm glad they're putting the information out there. I believe it's going to save lives.

All I can do is show them the love that God shows me and let them know that they are going to be Alright!! (ala Brenden and K. Lamar) See y'all in the next post.

I stopped reading after "the bible tells us". To live your life by a book that has been translated hundreds of times from a dead language from over a thousand years ago is naiive at best. And then to believe others should turn a blind eye to logic and common sense is beyond me.

  • Just Keya

When will we start assuming personal accountability and responsibility for our actions? When are women going to stop blaming men for our problems? When are men going to stop blaming women for their problems? If I decide to give myself to someone, outside of the confines of marriage, and something bad happens, whose fault is that?
    ------------------------------
In the order that you asked:
-Never. It's so much easier to blame the White man. However, some of our problems stem from the White man but sadly we have turned it into stuff that we could fix if we wanted to.
-Men sometimes are the problem. And I'm not talking boyfriends or husbands. I'm talking fathers and uncles and grand pops too.
-Never. It's always the woman's fault.
-Yours. Because your behind should of honored your marriage or left the correct way.
    IMO.

Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) is marketed as a drug called Truvada. Here is some more info on it. https://start.truvada.com
A 30-day supply of PrEP retails for $1300-$1500 a month. Not cheap. Insurance can help cover the cost and it also depends on your insurance. Some plans will have you pay $10 to $20 more or less in the co-pay.

  • http://Copblock.org aDingoDrankMyBabies

You spelt it Jacksun because we gave him and his hair away during one of the race trades? He ain't one of us? Not with hair like that. A clear victim of All Hair Dresses Matter. If you don't gone and get yo ass a damn Black person!? I mean, it's just embarrassing at this point?

  • TheRealLee

The unfortunate truth. All black women need to have on the spot kits before engaging in sex knowing that they will be infected if they don't demand testing.

CDC has not tested ALL black men. So to make a statement like this is very reckless and misinformation even damn near dumb. They can only calculate based on the info that they have. So yea I'm not buying this. Just more propganda to make black men look bad. Miss me with the bullshit.

  • IAmLegend

I still don't understand why black people insist on following a religion that was forced on them by the very people who enslaved them. Africans were not practicing Christianity before the white man came over and started killing people if they did not accept Jesus Christ as their savior. We have been brainwashed as a people in so many ways but we are too afraid to question it because we think we might end up in hell.

  • just being me

I am not buying this even with your money sorry but nice try !!

  • LeBrick James

Yup. And most of that is caused by downlow brothas , or brothers that dibbed-and-dabbed while in prison .

  • Gail West

Hello I would like to introduce myself. I am a married woman who once had AIDS and now Hiv positive with an undectable VL or viral load. I appreciate everyone's thoughts and opinions but I would like to offer a perspective of someone who is living with the virus.I have been in serotype relationships in the past and the a common misconception that it is a death sentence. I assure it is not. I am a healthy attractive educated confidant woman who is married to a supportive and awesome husband with two kids that are hiv negative. It was transmitted by a straight man from a straight woman. It is not always the who and how you have sex it is the VL .A woman can pass it on if she has a high VL and someone with a low VL can have sex consistently and it is unlikely to transmit. If a person takes a drug called truvada which insurance covers it is unlikely you can can pass or catch hiv. I am not releasing accountability or responsibility but people are more likely to die from heart disease or diabetes especially in the black community. I say this because the uninformed think of this as death sentence like it was in the 90s and judgments keep people from disclosing and managing the disease. This means higher VL increasing transmission. I don't want to be hiv positive but because of im in best of health because I have to mahage it as if it was diabetes. I believe if we want lower rates of hiv we need to end stigma and not make people feel life is over for them. I know my life is great even as l live with HIV. I encourage any questions or comments because I live in my truth.

Hi Gail, thank you for sharing your story with the blog. HIV virus can't cross intact skin. Nor can it infect a man by swimming up the man's urethra. HIV is in higher concentration in vaginal fluid when a woman is on her period. When she is not on her period (bleeding), HIV virus content is very low in vaginal fluid. HIV must come in contact with blood. So, please explain how a woman infects a man with HIV when all studies show females are more susceptible to contracting HIV from men.

  • Auditor

It's called statistics...Of course it's not 100% accurate. When I do statistics at work my error rate is 5% or less. I take a sample and use that for a larger population. I analyze the numbers and spit out the information from there.

  • Auditor

Yup that's that anal sex for you...

  • Auditor

    Hi Gail!

  • http://sandrarose.com SandraRose

I notice people with an agenda often spread misinformation about HIV to diminish the stigma of the disease. HIV does not swim in vaginal fluid waiting for a man to come along. A woman has to be bleeding for HIV to be in her vaginal fluids. HIV does not cross from the blood into the vagina through the vaginal membrane. Meanwhile, HIV continues to spread like wildfire in the gay community. If they really want to diminish the stigma of HIV, they should start by lowering the rates of infection in the gay community.

  • Gail West

Thanks for responding. I agree it is harder to for a woman to pass it on but not impossible. A woman can transmit if say she has a high VL say 2 million if she has anal sex or even vaginal sex with a man that may have open abrasions on his penis or possibly not. It is a numbers game almost. The more copies you have the likelihood of transmission. If you would like to confirm any ID doctor will concur. You know what else that your VL can be so high that some test will say you are negative for instance those 15 min prick test.

  • Gail West

Hi It is nice to E meet you lol I have been a long time reader and you guys are my friends in my head .I thought this would be a good time to step out the shadows since I think I can make a valuable contribution to the subject. Btw I love your comments.

  • Gail West

Hi Prep is also for people in serotype relationships...my husband is negative and he takes it to prevent contraction from me being positive.

  • Gail West

Hi l hope you don't think I have an agenda because l was only sharing my experience I won't proclaim to be an expert but I do believe l am educated on the subject. I agree it is a problem in the gay community but if you were referring to me l am only sharing what medical professionals have told me. If not I apologize and l really enjoy your blog.

  • <—Doesn'tTalkToStrangers

    Good Info!!!

  • http://sandrarose.com SandraRose

It's a prophylaxis pill, sort of like the morning after pill. It prevents high risk gay men from contracting the HIV virus by taking it daily for about a month before exposure. You're right. Pills like PrEP contribute to promiscuity.

  • Gail West

I apologize l though you received my first response. A woman can transmit having a extremely high VL say two million. It is a numbers game the more copies of the virus the chances it can be transmitted during anal or vaginal sex. I agree it is harder but not impossible especially if abrasions exist on the penis. However I definitely would say to consult with an ID doctor that is who explained it to me. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

  • http://sandrarose.com SandraRose

Do you mean she has an extremely high viral load in her bloodstream? The viral load will not be high in her vaginal secretions unless she is bleeding. Thank you for sharing.

  • Fendi

Millennials are of the generation that can take one pill to control their HIV symptoms. In the 80's and 90's, even into the early 2000's, some people had to take HIV cocktails consisting of 50-60 pills per day. Folks are of the mindset that if they contract HIV, they can take a pill or 2, keep their disease under control and live another 20-40 years. That may be a possibility for some, but it won't be for all. And the ones who likely have the expectation that their disease won't worsen will be some of the first to perish.

  • Fendi

And that prostate orgasm can be achieved through use of a finger. I read an article about it in a men's magazine. It was a technique referred to as a "prostate massage." It is the male equivalent a woman's G-spot.

There are women performing analingus on men for men to achieve such types of orgasms. I mentioned "prostate massages" on the forum several months ago.

    Thank you.

  • http://sandrarose.com SandraRose

Because of the rampant unsafe sex hookups within the gay community, the HIV virus is mutating to a strain that is drug resistant. When that happens it will be like the 1980s all over again.

  • Fendi

I see so many heterosexuals who won't hesitate to engage in high risk, unprotected sex. Every orifice is compromised. They hop from partner to partner. Babies are conceived, only to be aborted. You can't convince me that these factors aren't advesely affecting heterosexuals. Every straight woman isn't having sex with a man on the downlow.

  • Lorenzo Chaps

You'd be surprised how reckless these men are in the gay life. No Sir, I'm good. Yes, I drool and salivate over so many sexy men I see, but I aint bedding any and everybody. I like relationships, usually. I don't cheat, but that doesn't mean my "partner" will not. So I'm single long time.

This is such alarming news. What makes it worse is that drug they have out that have these men thinking it'll prevent HIV. How about we just be responsible adults that don't hoe around or sleep with every six pack having guy that approaches. IDK what to say to this though. It's pretty sad really.

Gay men dont want to date until they're either old, fat, or unattractively bald. In the meantime, everybody hitting the gay clubs and dark alleys for a good time. Come tomorrow, nobody can tell you the name of the guy they screwed, but can give graphic details of the D.

  • Lorenzo Chaps

Yep. I posted before how one of my mentors that I knew was gay posted his status on his profile on a site I was on. I stared at the screen for a few minutes cuz I didn't what to say. I will never ever ever bring that up to him again or to any mutual friends we have.

I knew there were times he face looked sunken in and leathery. Other times he seemed thin. And then there are times like now where he appears perfectly fine with smooth skin and of decent weight.

To your point though, most guys will never admit to having HIV. They can get the diagnosis today and will be back out tonight looking for sex. When I see that leathery sunken skin/face, yep, HIV got em. I see this face a lot too and I just smh.

  • Lorenzo Chaps

Did you sleep with him anyway? Asking sm1 to take the test with you is the grown up thing to do. Yes, you should know. Folks bury their heads in the sand about their health, credit, bad news, etc. You have to deal with your stuff head on man, frfr.

  • Lorenzo Chaps

Oh, do you have any pics? jk.

  • Lorenzo Chaps

virtually impossible still leads some room, yes?

Damn shame that black folks get blamed for everything bad. CDC is ran by the government so why should we believe this mess??? Every race on the plant has gays & people with disease in it, so why always pin blacks to a epidemic? Let's hear about some white folks disease. We know white folks created a lotta sexually transmitted diseases by screw-n farm animals.??????! Where are those reports & stats CDC? Blacks folks keep wrapping it up so they can shut it up!

  • Auditor

Where are these 6 pack having guys? All I see/find are lazy mfs but yet want a female's body to be "bad". I can't...

Told the boo your sex would be better if you'd exercise...guess what he started doing? Lol

Ain't no reason to look like you're 55 in your 20s and 30s...you should be in the best shape of your life!

  • Amel

    I dont believe these numbers.

  • Amel

I think we have to work on ending the stigma around HIV. People are too scared to get tested and then spread around the virus without even knowing it.

  • Amel

    LOL

  • Amel

No, thats not correct. There is a lower chance of infection from woman to man BUT not even close to impossible, especially if its repeated exposure. This is why HIV is still such an issue, so much misinformation.

  • FengShuiDeezNuts

Ok, so where are the BLACK women getting it from, it's not airborne?

I don't think a lot of people are afraid of HIV because the Meds are keeping people alive. So it's almost like "so what all I have to do is take the medication and not tell anyone I have it."

  • JV

Which is crazy, because you can be charged with a crime for not telling a sexual partner that.

  • JV

No kidding! If you have fluid in your body, yes you can transmit the disease.

  • JV

I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with you, but “at risk”
behavior can constitute a lot of things. Some areas are more afflicted than
other when it comes to certain contagious diseases. With HIV specificially, you
also have to take into account 1.) is there enough education on the disease?
2.) are prevention measures available? 3.) Are there other activities that
could be spreading the disease, such as needle sharing?

  • Liljwells

They need to pack up their little purses and come back home.
