Aretha Franklin

The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin celebrated her 74th birthday at an intimate party at the Ritz Carlton in NYC last night. Franklin turned 74 on March 25th. Special invited guests included openly gay recording mogul Clive Davis, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, CNN’s openly gay anchor Don Lemon, and MSNBC anchor Tamron Hall, among others. ReRe announced her long-delayed biopic is back in the works. “Good news, we’re ready to sign for the movie,” she told her guests. She told the well-heeled crowd that she is in negotiations with Straight Outta Compton producer Scott Bernstein. “We’ve agreed on all the key points. There’s very little left now (to negotiate), very little. They have given me creative control and that’s all I wanted.” Franklin added she wanted biracial actress Halle Berry to play her, but Jennifer Hudson will likely get the nod, according to Page Six.
