Bobby Shmurda’s Pals Convicted of Murder and Attempted Murder

Two gangland associates of rapper Bobby Shmurda were convicted Monday of murder and attempted murder in a Manhattan courtroom.

The two members of Shmurda’s GS9 street gang, Rashid Derissant and Alex Crandon, were convicted for the 2013 murder of a rival gang member in Brooklyn.

Shmurda, whose real name is Ackquille Pollard, is in jail awaiting trial on the same charges his pals were convicted of, in addition to conspiracy to commit murder, reckless endangerment, felony weapons possession and assorted drug charges.

Pollard, Derrissant and Crandon were rounded up along with other members of the violent GS9 gang in a December 2014 police raid.

“As indicated by their verdict, the jurors in this trial heard evidence describing a cold blooded murder, wild gunplay and a terrifying disregard for the safety of innocent bystanders as the defendants tried to violently settle scores with rivals in New York City and beyond,” said Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget G. Brennan in a statement on Monday.

The 21-year-old rapper is best known for his hit rap song “Hot Nigga” and for popularizing the trendy but short-lived Shmoney dance.

I feel so badly that he wrote that song. It was a brilliant song in its context. It was a statement of these times many black inner city youth are living. I wish Bobby Shmurda could afford an attorney powerful enough to have defend his freedom of speech and have the song dismissed as fiction.

All the major Russian and Italian organized crime conducted in and controlling New York and the Feds targeted a young black street gang that couldn’t even afford lawyers powerful enough to secure bail and defend them adequately.

Ironically, white rock stars were never under surveillance, raided, and jailed for writing and singing about their rampant drug abuse and the known drug trafficking on their tours. Even their rapes get swept under the rug and their crimes are romanticized in rock n roll movies.

Bobby Shmurda needs real lawyers. He can’t afford lawyers that would have had him out on bail and under political asylum with a new name and life in the Middle East.

Bobby Shmurda’s case is far more political than Lil Kim’s. Kim was imprisoned on perjury. Shmurda is being denied due process and railroaded with no bail which is unconstitutional.

Exactly. I’m not surprised by the injustice but I am surprised by the naïveté of black people to think the targeting and railroading of Shmurda is because of crimes committed. If Bobby Shmurda wrote that song and in real life was in Bible Study seven days a week and was attending Oxford he still would have been targeted denied due process and imprisoned unconstitutionally.

Black people still think racist law enforcement targeting is determined by whether a black person is good or bad. It’s determined by politics.

All that does not give him a pass. Evidence speaks volumes the law is the law. We are entitled to freedom of speech but we are not entitled to act on the contents. And to be real you dont see the Russian mob all up on Instagram, and Twitter. He wasnt a studio thug If you taunt and flaunt your crimes you make it easy for the feds.
