Lane Graves

The parents of a 2-year-old Nebraska boy who was attacked and killed by an alligator at Disney World will not sue the theme park.

Lane Graves was snatched as he splashed in the water near the shore of the Seven Seas Lagoon on June 14. His intact body was found 18 hours later in 6 feet of water.

In a statement released to the media, Matt and Melissa Graves said they plan to focus "on the future health of our family and will not be pursuing a lawsuit against Disney.”

The parents did not say if they reached a cash settlement with Disney.

Disney World is a juggernaut of corporate commercialism in Florida. The laws were changed to protect Disney from lawsuits, and as such the theme park is rarely sued.

  • ShadesofEMPRESS

Why would they sue? Their asses were the one who let him go near the alligator as the if they were trying to get rid of him.

  • nicelyput32

Disney made an offer, they accepted. No suit needed.

  • harley_quinn2.0

    Yup

  • AG

I just feel for that poor baby. His parents.....no point in dwelling on what they could of done right or better. They'll have to live with this forever. Im sure they got a cash settlement, but I know it doesn't ease their pain.

  • Jusstlookn To Stay Woke

Why sue, when Disney paid them. CHILE PLEASE

  • yoni

Because they were the ones that dangled him in front of the alligator, thinking it was cute. Yall know how Micha Jackson hung Snuggie over that balcony and then laughed? Same thing.

You can say that again. To lose your child like that they are going to need a lot of counseling and prayer. Their other children will need it as well.

    settlement reached....

  • yoni

Now I feel bad because I'm talking shit in my post.

  • Phillybruh

Where some peoples mind goes, to actually believe they killed their own kid and just by chance an alligator gives them an alibi...lol Yes that check cleared.

  • Buttercup

They're not going to sue, because they've already received a hefty settlement.

  • Willetta

Disney's out of court settlements are so HUGE that most lawyers advice their clients to TAKE THE MONEY!

  • country57

You know that's right. :) No more negative publicity needed. Disney wrote that check real quick.

  • Di Ana

    Lol... You too funny.

  • yoni

I'm PMS'n. I really don't have any chill around this time. Excuse me in advance.

  • I aint the one

    Must've been a sizable settlement.

  • MissHarlem

  • Yardgirl

You are right on target with that!!

  • Let Your Soul Glow

When do you ever have chill?

  • KcoolMuziq

That settlement must of been HUGE!

  • Da Puppet Mistress

God bless these folks. They got their settlement. No need to sue. Its not gonna bring back their baby and its probably too much to even DEAL with right now. Hang in there Matt and Melissa

  • hottlanta

Now you know if they go on vacation and have the other child near the water folks gonna be freaking out.

  • Buttercup

Or maybe they didn't know that gators are everywhere in Florida like gnats are in South GA. There weren't any signs warnings resort visitors of the presence of alligators.

  • PettyEyezPrime

    RIP Baby boy

I need to think of a come up?

I missed last post due to customer service ignorance but I want to know.

    PRAYERS UP

  • yoni

    *points to self* Hardly ever.

  • PettyEyezPrime

This is random and super petty but I hate being with someone who has the same 1st initial as me.

    Prayer to them??

  • ShadesofEMPRESS

    Yessss! You better preach.

  • stanhope

Dumb ass...do you seriously think the parents would do this. There is an assumption, perpetuated by the disney millions that their's is a safe environment

  • stanhope

Unlike the zoo situation....beautiful white family with beautiful white kid killed....limousine, private jet, paid for funeral and check came forward quick, fast and in a hurry.

  • Queen B

Damn right they no suing bc its their fault its gonna b a waste of time and fees

  • Lovelove

    Yup yup

  • just being me

I am assuming the park is giving them a settlement thats why they are not suing ..

  • https://twitter.com/Chicagowise Chicagowise

They're not suing because Disney has settled by making a sizable donation to their foundation. Either way, the death of their son was their fault. Maybe they're going to sue themselves, instead.

  • LibraGirlonly

I'm sure they settled and was paid a healthy sum of money.

  • Readytochokemothernatureonout

Bless them and their settlement which pales in comparison to their Lane which I bet they'd trade in a heartbeat.

  • ifixstudentloans

In other words, Disney settled quickly.

  • Da Puppet Mistress

I am DYING. Matt and Melissa irks your soul huh? Glad my new dude is Chris and not Kris then *snorts*

  • Da Puppet Mistress

    Tiny and Mo.

  • imright

?of course theyre not gona sue!!! they dont wana draw any more attn to the fact that they were negligent parents at the very least!!! that alligator DID NOT grab that baby!!! ?? im not convinced! ??

  • PettyEyezPrime

Yes, it really does. My name begins with a K and I promise you, I dealt with a Kristopher but my petty wouldn't let us be great ? #StupidReasonWhyImSingle

  • Da Puppet Mistress

Mine does too. With K. Lmaooooo ?

  • country57

I noticed the difference, they just looked for the zoo family's criminal background. No assistance offered even though that kid should have never fell through that opening. White kid fell @ zoo, whole different outcome.

  • Dee

    Fell out of becky's arms.

  • ShadesofEMPRESS

Yes I agree to the fullest.

  • country57

Yep!!!!!!! You fixed that for me real good. Thanks. :)

  • barbeez

They got a nice settlement from Disney. Money won't be a problem in their lives and Disney is probably funding the foundation they set up in their son's name. Win win situation for both.

  • barbeez

    a settlement.

  • Tam

They must have recieved money already because there ain't no way, their not suing.
They have a case...there was no alligator warning signs

  • http://totallifechanges.com/PurTEA VanillaCaramel2shotsExpresso

The oldest child was in the pack and play..... I wished both of them were in there. I'm sure they do too . Sad lesson to learn.....

  • MzApple

    Because they killed him

  • stanley

They probably signed a nondisclosure agreement with a big fat check...

  • scentsychick30

I bet they paid them. Tough lesson to learn that cost that poor child his life.Disney sign should have said just keep out.

  • Tea??

Why sue when you got paid off? Disney already telling employees to say they don't know if it's gators in the water when not 1 but 3 were caught and euthanized. They're going to try to cover this up and pretend like it never happened I guess.

  • Hmmm~?

Folks were literally starting petitions to get the black moms children taken away from her. Yet nothing but sympathy and over $25k in donations (+ a settlement from Disney) for the white family. To say I'm exhausted would be an understatement.

  • Tea??

I was thinking that too smh killed him and got paid off

  • Orchidjones-PETTY INSTIGATOR

They probably wont because of neglect on their part, but I wouldn't be surprised if Disney offered them some type of settlement for their suffering. I'm sure that is where their lawyers and insurance comes in.

  • ramosyo

I think WHAT REALLY HAPPENED HAPPENED WAS THIS->DISNEY DIDNT PAY THEM OFF DIRECT THEY CUT A LARGE SUM OF A CHECK TO THIS FOUNDATION THAT WAS SET UP A WEEK AGO. Google LANE GRAVES FOUNDATION. So why would they set that up? Tax write off and to make good with the parents. BC it's a clear cut case regardless ... No signs were posted and he is dead. They just chose to go another direction IMO

  • stanhope

    Make america great again LMAO

  • Ceezus

Right! They didn't think a damn gator was gonna pop outta nowhere and grab the boy.

  • Lisa daniels

Hell yeah, the check cleared and they have no worried and Disney doesn't miss a cent by people being scared that their kids will be dinner for some wild animals.

  • country57

    lol :)

  • KB

Exactly. I'm pretty sure it was the most 0's they've ever seen outside of watching "How the Lottery Changed My Life."

  • KB

After my visit I permanently disabled my "chill" button, folks deserve it.

  • Stl_heat

Of course they're not going to sue. Why would they when they've been paid off? Thats the ONLY time you DONT hear sob stories when a company has wronged someone or is liable is when they're paid to hushhhhhh...Even if the laws were changed to "protect" disney those parents would still try to get something and that would be by the means of the media, who would continue to report and warn people and blow every thing out of proportion. They havent said ISH..? ?

  • DeepThinker

You are so wrong for that! BAWWWAAAAAAHAAAA!

  • Tammy GILBERT

they should of been near the water with him it came out they were looking at their cell phones i heard that twice idk.they not never tell this but they will get some money.they will have a tuff time getting through life everday dammmmm

  • Tammy GILBERT

yep for not watching they kid

  • BLOODBLOOD

Of course they won't sue they pushed his lil bad a s s in the gator mouth

  • Lisa daniels

He was 2.I highly doubt that he was bad ass hell, but his mama and daddy are a special kind of stupid. Their check cleared so they straight for life. Disney is a billion if not trillion dollar industry the govt will not let them fail much like how the won't like the bank of America fail. Disney only cut the check because they didn't have any signs that said that was there are gators in them waters. Now the next family, whose kids get in the water where there are gators and gets bite, they will be sol because Disney has signs now. It's like how Starbucks and other places who sell coffee have signs on there cups to say it hot. They're no longer liable.

  • BLOODBLOOD

    Ok

  • Mrs Mary

They already offered them some money and they took it...trust me!

  • IamAllnatural

And then signed a document that they can not sue

  • Strappyheels

Because, Disney already gave them some money... No need to sue

  • sunni_daze

Becasue its suspect. I personally think they parents had something to do with it and I don't mean a rescue attempt.

  • Cinnamon Brown

That's exactly how I feel.... And you aren't sueing.... Um I know that can't bring the baby back..... However I would get so deep in your pockets.... So that it never happens again..... And I'll be damned that they have taken the signs down about gators at the same place..... And fired then rehired the chick that blew the whistle..... Tuh.... They killed that baby..... Cause they surely found him a few yards from where the gator took him..... Sooooooo hmmmph....

  • MistaO

Please. You know disney had those white folks a check before they even left the resort.

  • sunni_daze

One thing is for sure if the Gator actually took him there would have been no remains. Animal Planet proved that.

  • Nycholle Curry

I'm curios to know how much they settled for? No amount of money can replace my child.
