Cedric Clark

Clayton County police identified the shooting victim whose death prompted the lockdown of nearby Charles Drew High School on Wednesday.

The body of Cedric Clark, 17, was found by a homeowner who was leaving for work early Wednesday, the AJC.com reports.

The homeowner found Clark’s body in her backyard in the 5800 block of Eagles Feather Lane, about a mile from his Riverdale home.

Police responded to the scene just before 8 a.m. They believe the shooting occurred Tuesday night.

“We believe he was on foot in the area,” Clayton County police Deputy Chief Joseph Woodall said during an 11 a.m. press conference.

AJC.com reports Charles Drew High School will remain on a “soft lockdown” Wednesday while Clayton County police continue their investigation.

During a soft lockdown, all exterior doors to the school are locked, and parents can only enter with proper identification.

“This is an unfortunate incident,” said Clayton County Public Schools spokeswoman Jada Dawkins. “Our heart goes out to the students, staff and family of the victim.”

Me too. Drives me insane! My thing is, WHY is it ALWAYS under something? What does the underneath look like? Is it that “FLEEK” that you have to keep it on 24-7? I know some folks, that if I seen them with it OFF, I wouldn’t recognize’em.

I aint know who the hell she was for the first 5-10 seconds. And comes to find out she had hair to her ASS almost. BISHHHHHHHHHH. Why you been wearing headwraps like that and you are Pochohantas under it?

  • i troll it like i see it

I’m tired of people running out the house in their bonnets. I never leave the house with my head wrapped or in a bonnet. I would rather put a basketball cap on than do that.

  • Renee26

Probably was the last thing on her mind while running out of the door to meet the police because one of their teenage family members has been found dead….If it was me I would probably be out there with my blanket on ( I sleep in the nude)

  • i troll it like i see it

Maybe it’s because I never saw my mother out the house with her scarf on? I don’t let my son wear a doo rag out the house either, IDGAF if he’s just checking the mail.

  • Jahnée Gill Mr.Eddie Murphy

I leave the house with my head wrapped up. I have a black scarf for that purpose alone. I don’t see anything wrong with that. Now a bonnet , nope. Not now not ever.

  • Alicia.Ashe

I think he has issues with his mom.

  • https://www.etsy.com/shop/AMarieNaturals Lovezoe

Listen. I know how we feel about bonnets. If someone we knew or loved was hurt or killed, what we got on our head is the least of our worries.

  • Incog-knee-gress

Which equates in the long run with issues with women overall. Called me an emotional female and told me to go take some Midol and a cold shower.

  • @djangothegod

  • SaharabutnotKdry

I think you were specifically talking about the bonnet , never mind .

  • CaramelDrop

What’s petty? Being too sorry to do something with your hair before going into an establishment, or, calling lazy women out for bringing their lazy ass into a establishment like they just got out of bed?

  • RespectSelf

Right… we live in a world where we have been desensitize so much so that when we think to comment on a post like this…. its about what someone look like smh.

My heart goes out to the family.

  • Milani

LOL, the way I imagined it in my head was her talking to you for those first few seconds and after her seeing you looking at her with the “WTF” face and not talking back, she stopped, sucked her teeth, rolled her eyes, put on the head wrap so you’d recognize her and then finished talking…

  • i troll it like i see it

i wonder sometimes if people are not aware of how homely it looks. Some things are for indoors only if you can help it.

  • Buttercup

I will cutely tie a scarf on my head at the drop of a dime, but I can’t understand the bonnet thing.

  • jussaying

ugh that irritates the mess out of me. i hate when people act like women are the only emotive beings on earth. you should have told him you’d grab him a tampon on your way since he seems beetchy.

I be seeing people have full conversations in my thread. And they won’t give me any rap. And I won’t say nothing to them.

Or they’ll wait to upvote after everyone else does, because they realized they were just hating.

  • Incog-knee-gress

Lol. It didnt go down like that. I was confused for a minute tho. She also dresses like a downtrodden housewife every single time up until that event. Sweats, large shirts, slippers etc. She be looking a mess. But DAYYYYUM when she spiffies UP? I was like bish you is a 9.

  • Look@m3

I bet this is gang related. They either were forcing this child to join the gang or he was involved. This is ridiculously These bootleg gangs in Atlanta need to just go away with this bull. This gang situation getting worse.

Either way my prayers go out to his family and especially his mom. SMH.

  • http://yeuphonic.com @yeuphonic

Someone here called him Laverne before, ? after the actoress ? and sometimes I can see why…to the originator ?

  • lovelygamour

I dont know what the story is but could everyone take this opportunity to get their familys in check. I see the violence is gearing up again. This happens when a new drug comes out. New drug-fading parents- poor kids- kid tries street life- dead people. This gang mentality doesnt make anyone rich. Black people the only people I know that can sale and not even have a secret car left. Please help the children in your community stay in school. Maybe volunteer. Cause this reminds me of when I was a kid. It didnt end until a lot of people died, some went to prison, and a lot was about to die so they moved. But it took years to get to that point. With social media people move but still in the game. Now in my homecity(metro detroit) its mostly the white people going ham but same thing. these designer drugs and poppy’s are going to get worst.
    End psa.

  • Buttercup

I said what I said. LOL

  • @djangothegod

That’s my aunt. Bandanna everywhere. I thought something was wrong with her.

  • Yoni

I’ve been called to the scene of a dead family member (murder-suicide) and guess what, I put some clothes on and took my scarf off my head. It’s not hard. I’ve done it.

  • Cares4uWishElectionwasover

I see what you saying, but in this situation, I think is permissive.

  • Yoni

Nice headwraps are fine. But BONNETS, such as those up top………NO! NEVER!

  • lovelygamour

They think the gang will protect them and life will be easier. The “gang” is the ones who will get them. Cause drugs make everything worst. They also not organized enough to make a gang work. Its just a bad idea. We live in the usa- no one should feel they have to join a gang because of proverty. I wish men and women would take care of their kids.

Even still……Now granted, first thing I do when I go in the house (after giving thanks) is head for my scarf and robe. IDC what time of day it is…..but, my hair is always at the “ready” underneath, if I need to get up and go. And even if it’s not……I got a wig laying somewhere within reach that I can throw on. I promise. LOL

  • Araminta Glissade Chaines

So sad. He didn’t even have a chance to really live life.

  • Mystery User

that’s not petty – all these nasty lace fronts you could buy and you still leaving the house with your sleeping bonnet on?
that’s not petty – it’s as bad as wearing your pajamas to Wal Mart.

  • Yoni

You’re right. For some it is. And I’m not just speaking about her in THIS moment. I’m talking in general. Some people do it like it’s a way of life. A part of the attire. Everyday living. I’m talking about the EVERYDAY aspect of folks wearing them.

  • Yoni

If that was meant for me (and it may have been), I’m talking about head bonnets in general on the EVERYDAY realm. The family has my condolences and prayers.

  • Yoni

I HATE THAT! I can say this, at least they’ve started wearing bonnets and not walking around with a comb stuck in their head! THAT was a thing a few years ago. Won’t be me or mine!

Co-sign I will go to the store with my hair out before you catch me with a bonnet on. The only time is when its snowing and I put a wool hat over it to protect my hair.

  • jordynmuva

I was robbed and shot. My mother was in bed sleep when i called her. She arrived at the scene with proper clothes and hair in a ponytail.

  • Yoni

Bless your heart. I’m sorry to hear that. All praises that you are here to speak on it. Big ups to Moms. Because it be those ones with their hair in a bonnet or all over their head that the media goes to FIRST for the story. I hate that shit!

4 separate murders in SW Atlanta last night. A man was killed at the Shell gas station on the corner of where my daughter’s goes to school, in September a teenager was killed in the Kroger parking lot across from the school. We’ve been warned to stop going to the gas station on Cascade because 3 cars get jacked per day on the regular. Police arrest the kids and they are out of jail and back at it within 72 hours, now they have guns and are snatching purses when you get out the car to pump gas. I caaaaaan’t…. I’m about to quit black people again, last time I quit, I missed Biggie’s entire music career, still don’t know the words to his songs.

  • hottlanta

So you did. What do you want a cookie. You are the kind of person that will burn in a fire trying to fix your hair because the news camera is out there and you don’t want to disgrace the race or afraid someone might see what you real face looks like. Ain’t nobody got time for this.

  • hottlanta

Betta know it. If my house caught on fire I will be full frontal with a scarf on my head.

  • Look@m3

Its so crazy because 2 innocent kids were just murdered last week for gang related (retaliation) BS murder because they cousin or relative was a part of it. I can not even imagine what that parent is going through. They doing these initiations like its a hazing ritual (Which it is but on another level). This is why I am starting to hate humans and wanting to stay away from them I hate being in large crowds because people have NO Type of respect for life.

This brings back memories of getting the phone call that my 17 year old brother was murdered, execution style. My heart bleeds for this generation because they are not living long enough to do anything any more. It brings tears to my eyes to hear of anyone getting murdered but when it’s a child it truly crushes my soul. Parents are not supposed to bury their child/ren but they should be burying them. Not really sure what will it take to gain some sense of control with these babies. My God!!! may this young man spirit rest in peace.

  • CS

In general….Yesss..I agree lol. However in this instance I don’t. I live not too far from this neighborhood and alot has been happening lately with children. Also, In 2014 I was called to a scene and was told my daughter may be dead. I ran out of the house in what i had on….no bra etc. Maybe im just too empathetic.

Just look at all the people who get pitbull puppies but dont read up about them. Their yards are wrong, they get the wrong food, and have improper chains. Then they get offended when people dont want them at the dog park! Just stupid and inconsiderate. So many people wont listen. They wont fix things. Their kids are 10 and look 30. They just cause confusion for the neighbors. When i get old im moving into a senior community cause you can trust neighbors. The english speaking world is going backwards.
