DL Hughley in West Hollywood

Defiant comedian D.L. Hughley has come under heat fire over his insensitive and race-baiting tweet about Hollywood screen legend Debbie Reynolds.

Reynolds died on Wednesday at age 84 — a day after losing her daughter, Star Wars icon Carrie Fisher, who died of a heart attack on Tuesday.

As tributes poured in from around the world for Fisher and Reynolds, Hughley saw an opportunity to attract attention to himself.

Hughley, who isn’t funny, tweeted: “Debbie Reynolds died a day after her daughter did! Black Mama’s don’t die cuz they kids do! They cry and say God don’t make no mistakes (sic)”.

His deleted tweet did not sit well with many followers, who attacked Hughley for his insensitivity.

“This is a perfect example of inserting race where it is inappropriate to do so,” one critic wrote. “A family lost two people in two days, and THAT’S what you say?”

“As if we needed more proof that you aren’t funny,” a wise person remarked, while another tweeted: “Somehow you have managed to trivialize the death of two beloved phenoms and the pain of black mothers who lost their kids.”
