Donald Trump

What I believed was a feel-good story about Donald Trump turned out to be an Internet hoax.

Earlier I wrote: “Here’s a feel-good story that you won’t see on the evening news.

A black homeless woman in NYC says she’s been living in a lavish hotel room in Trump Tower for the past 8 years.”

This story is false.

In a video uploaded to Youtube.com, the woman explains she arrived at Trump Tower about 9 years ago and began squatting inside an empty hotel room.

She said a housekeeper discovered her there the next morning and called the house manager who called the NYPD.

The woman, who appears to have a mental disability, said the police ordered her to leave, and when she refused, they called Donald Trump who came down to the room himself.

She said that after Trump heard her story, he allowed to stay in the hotel room with a view of Central Park.

According to Buzzfeed.com:

A woman’s claims in a now-viral video that she has lived in Trump Tower rent-free for up to nine years with the blessing of President-elect Donald Trump himself is not true, a Trump Hotels spokesperson told BuzzFeed News Friday.

“There is no validity to the video,” said Jennifer Rodstrom, a spokeswoman for Trump Hotels, who answered a BuzzFeed News request sent to a transition team spokesperson. “The woman depicted is not our guest.”

A previous version of this post was edited to confirm the story was a hoax.
