Tip Harris

Rap Titan Tip "T.I." Harris has a soft spot for children. T.I. is known for his benevolence and generosity at Christmas and year 'round. The father of 7 spread joy and Christmas cheer at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA), Dismas Charities halfway house and 10 single-mother families at Azalea Gardens Apartment Homes in West Atlanta.

According to a press release, Tip and his merry elves rode in Grand Hustle style in a caravan of red drop-top Chevrolet Camaros provided by Terry Cullen Southlake Chevrolet. The cars were loaded with hundreds of toys to give away to the children at each location.

Upon arriving to CHOA, patients were gifted a special present while having a chance to meet and take a picture with Tip. Following CHOA, Tip and the caravan traveled to Dismas Charities (a halfway house that gives men and women releasing from state and federal incarceration the skills and motivation to re-enter society as contributing members), to visit youth with incarcerated parents. Tip felt it was important to visit this facility and give back to the families because of his personal experience of spending holidays there after his previous misstep. “I myself spent a Christmas here, fresh out of prison,” Tip said. “I know what it feels like to not be able to spend Christmas with your kids.” Wrapping up Grand Hustle’s day of giving back, Tip popped up at the Azalea Gardens Apartment Homes to surprise ten single-mother families with Christmas gifts for their children. One specific mother in need was gifted 6-months rent from Tip, which he paid on the spot. “I’m ecstatic to be in a position to give back. It was awesome to see smiles on so many children’s faces,” Tip stated. From bikes to the best gaming consoles, Tip made sure to spread joy for all he visited.

In the video below, Tip greets a single mother at Azalea Gardens apartments in Atlanta. He told her he promised someone he would pay 6-months rent for her. "Come on, I'ma go on and cash out," Tip says as he pulls out a stack of his own cash and begins doling out hundreds of dollars to the happy mom.

The best gifts you can give a "single mom" are commonsense and birth control.

Merry Christmas everyone! And blessings and wishes for a healthy and prosperous New Year!

My Christmas was ruined by Georgia Power. For 2 years now the transformer outside my townhouse blows every other week. When it blows the power cuts off for about 2-10 minutes. It's obvious that the transformer can't handle the surge coming from this 2-year-old complex with about 300+ residents.

Georgia Power came out and messed with the transformer a few times, but they failed to fix this ongoing problem.

So last night, as usual, the transformer blows with a loud BOOM and a shower of sparks! My power goes out. Then 2 minutes later the power flickers then goes out again. The light was on inside the fridge so we didn't know the fridge had reset itself and turned off. It never did that before.

So from about 8:30 pm Christmas eve to around 10 am Christmas morning, the refrigerator was off. At 10 am, the thermometer inside the fridge reads 57 degrees! My mom didn't notice the thermometer or how warm the fridge was when she made her breakfast at 7 am.

According to the government's food safety website, everything inside the fridge must be discarded except the butter, margarine, hard cheese and juices if the temperature is above 40 degrees for 2 hours. It's xmas so no grocery stores are open today.

All that food gone to waste, thanks to Georgia Power refusing to fix the problem. ? ??

  • Irony

Merry Christmas, I hope things get better!?

  • Carolina Blue

Ah man. I hope things will get better.

  • Tee Bullock

Awe auntie, sorry about this, things will look up for yall.

  • Dane

Why does that always happen when the fridge is full? Never when it's nothing but a dried up orange rolling around. ? Sorry for the troubles but I hope you and your family are having a happy Christmas ? anyway.

  • Dane

Hope everyone is enjoying their day no matter your beliefs.

    I'm hiding....lol

  • acire

Sandra, I don't know what area you're in, but I might have some folks that can bring you food over that way.

  • Cunningham ?

Sheesh and I thought I was having a bad Christmas.

    This is awesome

  • Diva4lyfe

lol I just gave him kudos

  • Peter Piper ATL

What a heartwarming, highly orchestrated, annual, meticulously organized set of events. T.I. is so full of shit. There are a number of wealthy individuals in the entertainment industry who do a lot more than this token act of giving, and they don't ask for any credit. Grand Hustle, however, goes out of its way to ensure every blog in the urban diaspora gets the lengthy press release for this mess, so expect to see variations of Sandra's post all over the Web. Sandra knows I'm not lying LOL.

There are radio, music and TV/film heavyweights who write million dollar checks and fund entire foundations that truly help people. And these wealthy people do it anonymously.

When the point of giving is to be a real blessing for someone, you don't need a PR team and camera crew to do it.

  • MScommunication

Damn Sandra. Sorry to hear that. Merry Christmas.

  • Jennifer Jones

This man ALWAYS gives back #beablessing #getablessing #loveeeehim

  • Lisa daniels

Sounds like you need to move.

  • Peter Piper ATL

I'd file a claim or contact the property management company. I don't think there's a worse company to deal with other than ANY agency ran by the City of Atlanta.

  • Queen of EVERYTHING

Damn. I don't celebrate Christmas, but that's a terrible situation to be in... Especially with mom there. I'm sorry your weekend was ruined.

  • Queen of EVERYTHING

TI always does stuff like this... I don't know why the other rappers don't follow suit and help their community more. It's time to buy back the block...

  • LibraGirlonly

    Good Job T. I. !!!??????

  • KLo

nothing like a felon giving back

  • KLo

    good gawd, you scared me

  • http://www.necessonline.com/ MsNeceSs

I love it! This is so considerate.

  • Michelle

I commend him for what he's doing. He most certainly doesn't have to reach in his pockets to help children that are not his own. I love the comment he made about "bags". I never could understand how or why a woman will spend $10, 000 for a purse when that money could be used to save lives (St. Judes, Shriners Ect...). Hell, can some of those broads kick a G to the ASPCA? I mean, most of those women come from the slums and are spending someone else's money. Hmmm....how soon they forget I guess....

  • Michelle

Honestly, that did cross my mind but I'm still grateful because without his help some of those children would not have received anything. What I would prefer to see is the money put towards college tuitions or full scholarships for college. You made a couple of really good points though.

  • Jussjess25

One thing about tip, he does a lot of work for his community. I respect it

  • Kjibbers

This is why I can't stay mad at T.I.

  • Kjibbers

    Ok. You are right.
