Robert Bobroczky

Robert Bobroczky could be the tallest NBA player in history. Bobroczky is a 7-foot-7 high school basketball player from Romania who is getting a lot of attention in the U.S.

Bobroczky, who is nicknamed “Big Rob”, has a smooth jump shot and hits 3s from any spot on the court. But the 16-year-old impresses off the court as well.

Big Rob speaks four languages and boasts an amazing 4.3 grade point average.

“The kid’s work ethic is absolutely unbelievable. You ask him to do anything, and he’s going to do it,” said Bobby Bossman, who spotted him in recruiting videos in Romania and contacted his parents on Skype.

At the time, the 13-year-old stood 7-foot-3, but Bossman could see the potential in him.

After spending two years with an Italian club, Big Rob enrolled at Spire Institute, the academic arm of Grand River Academy in Ohio.

Spire is pacing Big Rob, getting him acclimated to the new system by playing him sporadically in games against public and private schools.

“We’ll use him every now and then,” Bossman told The NY Post in a phone interview. “Next year, he’s going to be full go from the tip.”

Bossman said Bobroczky’s biggest challenge is hauling his lanky 7-foot-7, 195-pound frame up and down the court.

“I tell him, I don’t care if you score a point or grab a rebound,” Bossman said. “We want you to be comfortable, we want you to have fun, and everything else will take care of itself.”
