Antonia Wright

New Orleans police arrested a suspect in the shooting deaths of Antonia "Toya" Wright's brothers.

Nola.com reports police arrested Antoine Edwards, 31, and charged him with two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of Joshua Johnson and Ryan "Rudy" Johnson.

The brothers were killed in a drive-by shooting as they sat in a car at a corner in New Orleans' notorious 7th Ward on July 31, 2016.

Joshua, 31, and Ryan, 24, were shot multiple times inside a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox parked with its engine running at the corner of Pauger and North Miro streets just after midnight.

An arrest warrant obtained by Nola.com states that Edwards, also known as known as "Toine" or "Tweezy", bragged about the crime to others.

Police identified Edwards by his nickname and he was picked out of a lineup by a witness.

The warrant identifies Edwards as the suspect who was "in the area during the time the incident occurred and as the subject who produced a firearm and shot the victims in this incident."

Wright featured her brothers in episodes of her reality TV show, Toya: A family Affair.

Damn shame. Living that street life.....

  • APeachLikeMe

I'm happy for her and the family. Closure is always good!

  • Lovezoe

    You knew them personally?

  • Let Your Soul Glow

Sad situation. I hope Toya and her family get justice.

  • Libra80sBaby

I'm talking about the alleged shooter. Do YOU know them???

  • KDub

Im still mad over this. It was stupid, senseless and got tired of folks judging her for smiling anytime after it happened. Glad they got the perps.

  • mimi79

It's crazy how some people don't want any other life than the street life. I have an uncle that's been a street dude his entire life and his old butt is in his 60's and still doing the same dumb ish he did in his 20's and 30's. Like dang, I just don't get it.

    Hey!!!!!!

  • Libra80sBaby

I dont understand it either. Sad shit.

  • Lovezoe

    K.

  • Libra80sBaby

I used to watch her show and liked her brothers. I wonder if the shooting was jealousy. You KNOW how ppl get when they see you doing a lil something or on tv or have a "celebrity" family member

  • Let Your Soul Glow

I read your initial comment and thought you were referring to the victims also. I read it like damn shame they died, but they were living a street life. It's not always crystal clear what folks mean since you are reading a statement, not having a verbal conversation.

  • Let Your Soul Glow

    **waves** Hey!

  • SweetsJunkie

Good because lots of these murders go unsolved. In other news Tyler Perry's dad's house burned down last night.

  • Libra80sBaby

Which is why ppl should ASK. Instead of ASSuming.

  • KDub

Hey you. Spoke and Tried to catch you two flights down. Sandy is posting too fast today lmao

  • CrunchyBlack1

Surprised he was alive walking the streets

  • KDub

Prime example of this is Suge Knight.

  • QTNA brought to you by KIC!

    Hey!!!!! I didn't see it.

  • Libra80sBaby

Had PLENTY of opportunity to be a legit business man, but just HAD to be a thug.

  • Let Your Soul Glow

Yeah, I agree. I just wanted to interject why you may have gotten the reaction you did. But we're good. Pax.

  • KDub

Professional biz man, pro football player, music exec. YOU NAME IT. When I first read that inital story and it had his age and the ages of the folks which he ran over (one died). I was like WHET? They were 45-50 years old. One was a grandfather.

  • KDub

Alright chall. BBL. Gotta go find food. Yes I know its only 10:45. But we have the RUDEST MANDATORY meeting EVER every frigging Tuesday. Noon. So you either gotta go around NOW so you wont risk being late back, or at 1 pm in which I might mange to DIE. Bc it sometimes has the GALL to run OVER past 1 pm

  • Libra80sBaby

    GO EAT!!! lol

  • Renee26

I hope the family gets some sort of closure... prayers

  • Renee26

Has he done any time? If not he's very lucky

  • mimi79

It really is. My son is 18 and I'm so glad he has no desire for the streets or that lifestyle. I have a little cousin the same age as my son and he's been to jail 3 times already and still hasn't learned a lesson. It's really sad.

  • Libra80sBaby

Did Toya and Her Brothers ever mend fences with their mother? Or did they just leave it be?

  • TaylorFinallyMadeIt

I'm sure he won't last long at Angola

  • SweetsJunkie

Question.......my son went to Navy Reserve Boot Camp two weeks ago. His Dad's mom died two days ago. My children had no relationship with this woman. She didn't even know their names. Should I let him know? I would have to contact the Red Cross and they would relay the message to him.

  • mimi79

He's done a lot of time. Been in jail/prison more than he's been free.

  • Quitedeliteful

Glad they caught this guy....l wonder why he killed both brothers - and then to brag about it...

  • mimi79

He's been in and out of prison/jail his entire life, been shot, stabbed, and had prostrate cancer. He's been given so many chances to get it right. My mom told him he has more lives than a cat.

  • E-White B.Sweet KoolAid

The famous 'lunch and learn' where they don't provide any lunch.

  • BatShatt

I say it can wait. Your children weren't a priority in her life. What would be the benefit of telling him now of he didn't even know her?

  • AllAroundTheWorldSameSong

We used to say my uncle was home when he was locked up and vacation when he was out. Sad, but it really seemed that way...had been in and outcof jail since he was about 17.

  • Let Your Soul Glow

Agreed. If they were close and he would want to come back for her services, it would be one thing. But since that's not the case, this news can wait.

  • APeachLikeMe

Hmm... I think I would, when he gets back tho - just for the sake of letting him know. Let him decide what to do with the information.

  • KDub

no. our regular dep. meeting tc. just think its rude AF to have it at that time. bc not everyone is working at their house

  • KDub

    *every

  • E-White B.Sweet KoolAid

That makes it an unofficial lunch and learn because why would you make it at that time?

  • Buttercup

BroButter35. Dude, you ain't never had to live in the projects, share a bed or even a room with a sibling, worry about where your next meal was coming from, etc. I will always keep a sliver of hope that he'll straighten up, but it's hard.

  • Lenina Just Lenina

Chile!!! They call it a brown bag here. We've had those too ???

  • AllAroundTheWorldSameSong

Tell him and let him decide if he wants to pay respects. My daughter met a cousin who knew of her, but not how to find her, at a family member's funeral. Sadly, if she had not decided to go, she would have missed out on what is now a very close relationship. She wasn't really close to family member, just went to pay respects.

I say that to say, if he goes, this could be the outcome...what the grandmother failed to create in life, her death may do so in regards to him creating relationships with those who come to the funeral.

  • KDub

bc its gonna be 10 am where she is. denver. its a good time for HER

  • E-White B.Sweet KoolAid

That's rude. We have meetings at 7am to include our British counterparts. I attend...sometimes.

  • KarmaBackAround

Thank God for closure, and thank God for someone coming forward that way justice is served! Prayers up for the family!

  • KDub

when i was wfh i had meetings to have to include japan so we are talking 6 am and also had to meet with pfizer folks who are based in san diego at 6 pm. reason why the hell i left. 12+ hour days bc i wfh. folks who were in the office werent required to do either. downside to this industry.

  • E-White B.Sweet KoolAid

I haven't been required to do those things. If it's outside the hours I plan to be there then I decline.

  • SweetsJunkie

He knows his family already, he just didn't know the grandmother well, she was only a grandmother to the children of her daughters, not her sons. I guess I'm worried about them telling him his grandmother died and then he thinks it's my mom or my grandmother and gets upset.

  • Libra80sBaby

Since he is in boot camp, I would wait. Since they were not close. Tell him when he is done with BC

  • KDub

storm causing major headaches for ncaa basketball. this is bad real bad michael jackson. winner of last year villanova almost couldnt leave town in time. games are in buffalo.

  • Kwamella Diquan

Yea I would but I doubt if they let him leave Boot Camp. If hes in boot camp call the main post hotline and they will relay the message to him

  • SweetsJunkie

On this letter they just sent Friday, it says in case of immediate family member emergency to contact the Red Cross and they would relay the message.

  • Blak

And of course his name has to be something like Antoine, smdh

  • AllAroundTheWorldSameSong

Make it clear to them that it was dad's mom and let him decide. It may bother him more that you knew and didn't let him know.

  • KcoolMuziq

I wonder what other evidence they had? Hearsay doesn't mean a person actually committed the crimes.

  • Ms. Cree

Losing loved ones to senseless violence is never easy. Hopefully knowing that the killer is in custody will help ease the pain a little.

  • Man, I just don’t care™

Who knew the cops had time to actually work on murders as opposed to weed and immigrant (paperwork) arrests? I guess with her being "semi-famous" this one took priority.
...and all it took was a few months with an eye witness and the person bragging about it to get them caught.

  • ShadesofEMPRESS

This is sad. Why would her brothers want the street life? Im sure Toya has money through Wayne and could help them out. RIP to her brothers.

  • Shira Harding-James

Actually Toya has her own money. But who knows if they were in the streets or not, but even if there were you can lead a horse to water but can't make them drink it

  • Shira Harding-James

    Eye witness

  • ShadesofEMPRESS

True I totally agree. I'm like I just don't get it. I have a cousin like this and we all watch out for him so why. He been in and out of jail. The great thing is he's changing.

  • Kwamella Diquan

Oh ok..It's been over 20 years since getting out so things may have changed. Good luck and I thank him for his service mom.

  • Jussjess25

    Yup

  • IamAllnatural

It's a sad situation but you can't make a grown person change their lifestyle unless they want to. People get tired of helping someone who doesn't want to help himself.

  • ShadesofEMPRESS

    Truth.

  • Renee26

Yeah... it sounds like he's getting chances like he has a true purpose in this world...I pray that he will eventually change his ways

  • https://instagram.com/calirose2501/ calirose2501

no..if she wasn't involved in their lives and acted like they existed..then its no loss to him. Don't distract your son with the news

  • Shira Harding-James

I'm happy to hear that, because I'm sure that's very hard for you and your family
