By now you’ve heard that reality TV star Honey Boo Boo‘s mom, Mama June Shannon, lost 300 pounds following weight loss surgery.
For years the 37-year-old mother-of-4 struggled with obesity. Her obese weight became part of the storyline on her daughter’s reality TV show, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
The show was cancelled after news of her husband Sugar Bear‘s legal troubles and other ruinous gossip that was unbecoming of a family TV show.
Now Mama June and Honey Boo Boo, real name Alana Thompson, 11, are back in a new reality TV show, From Not To Hot, that documents June’s dramatic weight loss.
The story goes that June (with assistance from the show’s producers) paid $75,000 for gastric sleeve surgery to lose 300 pounds in time for Sugar Bear’s upcoming nuptials to another woman.
In (yet another) exclusive interview with PEOPLE magazine, Mama June explains how she plans to keep off the 300 pounds she lost.
“I can promise you I’m never going back to that size,” she says. “I’m happy where I’m at,” she told PEOPLE.
“I do worry about their health, but I’m not going to say, ‘You got to eat salads all the time,'” says Shannon. “I’ve seen Pumpkin and Alana lose and gain weight, but I don’t want them to end up like I did at 460 lbs. Who would want that?”
June says she has to eat in moderation because the sleeve causes nausea if she overeats.
“I’m not going to lie to you: I have thrown up, because you can’t over eat with the gastric sleeve,” she says. “That’s not a thing that I recommend to somebody. You realize what you can and can’t do, and when you do it that one time, you don’t do it again.”
Yes, the PEOPLE article is click bait. If you really want to know how June keeps the weight off, you have to pick up the current copy on PEOPLE, on newsstands Friday.
