Mila J

Jhene Aiko‘s big sis Mila J surprised her fans by releasing her independent debut album titled Dopamine on Friday, April 7.

Mila tells Essence magazine the album title was inspired by Daniel Levitin’s book This is Your Brain On Music: The Science of a Human Obsession.

“It really broke down how our brain reacts to music, what’s released when we hear a song, and why we like certain music,” she said.

“Dopamine is that chemical that’s released when things just feel good. It is that favorite song and that favorite band. And, I just feel very very happy and free.”

It’s good to see young people like Mila taking an interest in brain chemistry, particularly Dopamine which is responsible for a full range of human emotions from pleasure to pain.

Once you harness the power of Dopamine, no one can break your heart again.
