Adele Prince

British chanteuse Adele finally lost at something. Prince Rogers Nelson was crowned America's top-selling album artist in 2016.

In the months following the music icon's untimely death in April 2016, the "Purple Rain" star's albums and songs sold a combined 7.7 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music.

The bulk of this sales rush came in the month following his death, and he sold more albums than any other artist - even Adele - with 2.23 million copies sold.

The Very Best Of Prince was the top seller, with 668,000 copies, followed by the Purple Rain soundtrack (498,000) and 1999 (169,000). Meanwhile, Purple Rain was the late superstar's bestselling single last year, with 621,000 downloads.

Gone too soon. 57 is just way too young for somebody to be dying.

It seems like the best musicians always go too soon...

He would have love to see those kind of record sales before his death. ? You Prince! You are truly missed.

But now that you've mentioned Adele.........has anybody ever heard of a chick named YEBBA(smith)? When I say that chick got some RUNS fo yo ASS! She bad, yall! BAD as in GOODT! She's from round Sandra, Adele and Joss Stones way. #nice

  • Kanyade

Yup. Heard her sing and mercy, too much soul in her voice. She breathes runs.

  • Yoni7

I'm a fan, if there ever was a fan base. Count me in. LOL

  • AllAroundTheWorldSameSong

i have to look into her

  • chris

I'll check her out. Never listen to prince either was too mature for me but I might buy Greatest hits. Too much good music out here to be listening to trash. Thanks for sharing.

  • Yoni7

You're welcome. Prince is just the poster child for "Classic". There is NO ONE that compares to him. As far as YEBBA, if you like "soulful" music, then she is your girl. All those "overseas" singers have soulful voices. Think Joss Stone......but better. LOL

  • Yoni7

    I hope you enjoy her.

  • KcoolMuziq

Loves Prince BUT everybody knows that when an artist dies their sales go through the roof AND HE DESERVES IT .. it was however because of his death

  • Chicagowise

...and every penny of it will be devoured by Paisley Park. Mark my words, the estate will put it up for sale, sooner or later.

  • Chicagowise

There's a recent Prince documentary on YouTube. At the end, Pepe had me crying like a baby! ?

  • hottlanta

After Jennifer Hudson we don't need nobody trying to SANG any more Prince tributes.

  • ?Patty Kakes?

It took for him to die after for this to happen. How sad is that

  • abby500

Adele up there the typical applauded white woman look.

  • ?Patty Kakes?

I know he always did well even when we thought he wasn't. I just wish he could have gotten more glory. That man was amazing. Hr made black people like rock music that normally wouldn't have

  • Tea??

Adele is going to get tired of singing those depressed songs like Mary J. Blige did and try something different and watch how they turn on her lol

  • Yoni7

I enjoyed her. I hope you do/did too.
