R&B singer August Alsina is accused of flashing a gun at four fans who followed him around a grocery story. The incident happened on Wednesday night at a Food 4 Less in the San Fernando Valley, California.

Police say four fans — three girls and a male — recognized the hip hop singer and asked him for pictures. According to TMZ.com, the 24-year-old told them he wasn’t feeling well, and begged them to leave him alone. But the fans continued to annoy the star so a store employee called the cops.

Sources tell TMZ that the group followed Alsina out of the store and into the parking lot. Alsina allegedly grabbed a gun from his car and placed it in his waistband in full view of the four Stans as they approached his car.

Alsina had left the scene before police officers arrived. Police made out a brandishing firearm report and determined the singer didn’t point it at the fans or make any threats.

In a video message on social media last month, Alsina opened up about his battle with chronic liver disease.

“I’m sicker than ever and having a hard time accepting what I feel,” he wrote under a video of a sit-down interview with longtime friend Jada Pinkett Smith, 45.

He said he was having trouble accepting the news his doctors gave him after he tumbled off stage during a concert in 2014.

“The reality is that I’m sick all the time,” he told Smith.

“After sitting down and talking with my fathers, mother and sister, they explained to me that sickness and illness runs in my family.”

He added: “I don’t really like to talk about it because I’m not looking for anybody’s sympathy. Don’t treat me like I’m a f-cking cancer patient, because I’m not.

“I feel a sadness and depression that is embedded into my DNA.”

If he don’t take his sick tail and sit down somewhere…….what’s flashing a gun going to do, sir? Will you have the gun whilist in a jail cell?

  • BlahBlahBlah

It’s hard out here for a pimp! Food 4 Less where you bag your own? Whole Foods, I be seeing Kylie up there

  • Dowoop

Some people need to learn to leave other people alone.

  • Di Ana

He needs to detox and live the holistic life. Just because sickness runs in the family doesn’t mean you are doomed.

  • SJ

I don’t see the issue here. Leave me alone means leave me alone.

  • Renee26

He may have thought they were a threat to his safety…IJS continuing to follow him around and approaching his car. Watch from a distance MF…if you were a real fan you would know he’s sick and show some respect.

  • Bossy704

I feel for this man. Fans need to have respect. I’m sure he wasn’t looking his best during the grocery run, on top of being ill. He has no money for security (Food 4 Less) so he is protecting himself the only way he can. As a down low celebrity stalker I would never approach someone shopping or dining. Nightclubs, parties, concerts, random events – get them when they are “on” and promoting. Otherwise let folks live. Many performers charge sizable fees for photos so you running up for a freebie is not the lick.

  • Yall StayWoke

August- like most Black men need mental help! Even with a lot of money, Black men refuse to leave their hood mentality behind. There is nothing attractive about being a thug. Why do we praise these men as opposed to holding them accountable? Black ladies- if you want the conditions of the Black community to improve, you must WAKE UP & STAY WOKE. Black Kangz are too unstable and dangerous to associate with. Why keep holding them down with no reciprocity? Use them for a good fk and keep it moving(just don’t get knocked up by them as you will soon transition from a Black Queen to a Welfare Queen). Please wake up before it’s too late.

  • Ni Ni

I was prepared to go in on him, but he had a right to grab his gun after they wouldn’t leave him alone. They might’ve been plotting to rob him. I remember T.I. at that gas station last month and those fans kept nagging him. If i see a celeb, i’m just gonna smile at them, if its somebody i like. I know folks dont wanna be bothered.

  • Lorenzo Chaps

when I read ‘following him’ all sympathy went out the window. Stop being creepy, people. You spot the celeb, you’re better off saying something (I don’t, but you can) to them vs following them around a store (Point would never).

  • Ni Ni

    Ikr, have some dignity people!

  • BacktolurkingIgo

They might want to leave August alone he already has issues poor baby.

  • Nancy Drew is All The Way Up!

    No means NO! LOL!

….jokes aside, the ratio of female-to-male wouldn’t make this group any less ‘threatening’ to moi – he’s still outnumbered…. he said he was sick, begged them to cut him some slack, but they persisted. Following a person to their vehicle can be perceived as aggression. I let folks know they need to ‘approach with caution’ https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/87b08911346075aaa2cc7340979f9c93e51e7dd32e189bc72488108efcf73722.gif

Not trying to make this a black and white issue but guns are more prevalent in white middle class America. Protecting yourself has zero to do with being a thug or being “woke” lol

  • Nancy Drew is All The Way Up!
  • Scromes1212

This young brother needs a bodyguard when he is out. Let your bodyguard be the bad guy. It’s a much better look for him as a r and b singer.

  • Nancy Drew is All The Way Up!

it’s a better look for him as a Black Man for sure.
they were some bitter snitches anyway (tellin’ the cops the Brother was armed…. they not loyal, Lol!)

  • sunni_daze

    Damn Church Hat.

  • Scromes1212

    These hoes ain’t loyal lol

  • Please Stop The Madness

not to be funny. but didnt he say he was going blind? why does a man who is blind in one eye and almost blind in the other need a gun?

  • klwbaby

I’m glad he didn’t shoot them if he is legally blind…

  • A-way29

There are mental issues within all nations. Yes, we (negro women and
men) are a broken people. THe last thing we should be doing is leaving one another behind. Our ancestor endured too much for their children to be separating. The system is set up against us. We’re systematically oppressed. The results of this oppression are prominent in your advice.

  • tt

    poor fella

  • KcoolMuziq

Exactly! The nerve to follow him to his ride. I’ve always felt he was the realist entertainer from the moment he hit the scene. Thankfully Jada Pinkett has stepped in to mentor him. U can’t get any better than having her and Will by your side. Their Hollywood royalty.

  • Tony

    I think it’s HIV

  • klwbaby

If four strangers were following u around a store, would u feel safe?

  • klwbaby

I don’t care who u are, people need to learn to respect people and their personal space.

  • Tlowe89

I have a guns and have a carry permit, but I’m nothing close to a thug. I’m a single female who lives alone. I keep it for safety purpose. U watch a lot of shows like law and order SVU, and criminal minds, and of course the news. My biggest fear is being downtown in a parking garage by myself and possibly being attacked. So I get it, when people choose to have guns. It for added protection. He’s a famous person, who doesn’t always want to have a security guard around like a baby sitter, or doesn’t want a tag a long, and wants to do things on his own like go to the grocery store in peace. Why would you want a big bulky man with you just to run out the house to grab some pepper, lettuce, and an orange juice or what not. You see plenty of photos of celebs grocery shopping solo, and it’s probably bcus it’s just a normal private moment, every human should be allowed to do in peace.

  • Scromes1212

I feel you but it’s what you sign up for. In my opinion it makes more sense to have some kind of bodyguard around you so you don’t end up in bad situations. This situation could have went left real quick. But he has every right to carry his pistol, and use it when his life feels threatened. But 40000 a year can save you a lot of headache. A bodyguard is also a tax right off. Just seems like a better business decision.

  • Yoni7

    THIS!

  • Yoni7

    I would leave. I don’t think I would flash a gun……..unless I intended to actually use it.

  • Vegas1989

I agree…stop that smoking and drinking and Drink a gallon of water and eat right…Leave that pork and beef alone….

  • Renee26

Lol is vision issue was corrected…not sure if they ask those type of questions on the permit application

  • Renee26

His coinage may not be high enough

  • klwbaby

They followed him to his car. I’m not saying its right to flash a gun but people need to learn to be respectful and if someone keeps telling u to leave them alone, then leave them alone.

  • Silknsatin

He didn’t point the gun, wave the gun, or do anything erratic with the gun. He simply placed the gun in his waistband, just in case those people tried to do something to him. Hell, they’d already followed him around the store, and now they’d followed him out to his car. Who knows what they may have tried to do next.

  • ???TheRider???

I agree! I live in the San Fernando Valley and see celebs at Ralph’s all the time. I saw Cheech Martin at the store and recognized him. He gave me a look like “Please don’t” and I kept it moving.

  • Renee26

I’m more concerned about that man bun up top…looks like weave

  • ThottyPippen

He’s not in the wrong at all. That’s just plain creepy and I bet they probably had their lil phones out, trying to put it on social media. Leave folks alone!

  • datATLboi

I don’t blame him! What right do you have to follow this man around when he is just trying to mind his own business and shop…FOH

  • Hmmm~?

He was completely justified. These people were following him around and back to his car, at that point I’d feel threatened, celebrity or not. I’d do the same thing. It’s not like he pointed it out at them, he just flashed it to convey a very strong and very clear message. They should’ve known better.

  • Diva4lyfe

He did what he had to do. He asked them to leave him alone heck even the cashier seem him being harassed and stepped in to assist. So you continue to follow him being all thirsty, he don’t know if when he get to the car if u will rob him so he had to do what needed to be done. He didn’t threaten them he let them know he was strapped put his groceries in the car and was out. Its ok to be a fan, groupie or what not but if he asked to be left alone let the man be I am sure since they knew who he was that they know he been sick lately. Dang can’t go nowhere.

  • Diva4lyfe

OAN yall see Dump about to make a speech some things pertaining to yesterday

  • imright

he wanted extra attn and now he has it??????????

  • Petty Rubble

    Poor guy.

  • stanley

Well atleast he got the money to pay for excellent health insurance, unlike 80% of the US population.

News flash…. HIV Doesn’t effect the Liver boo. But there are other Stds that do Like Hepatitis C. You forgot to take Sex Ed in highschool?

  • CaliGONECRAZY

Umm News Flash…… HIV can affect the liver. It’s the medication people take to control HIV. It can cause havoc on your liver because your liver processes any drugs your body take. The liver helps your body to prevent infection and it is also responsible for making new proteins needed by your immune system to function.

  • Lolalao
  • Dowoop

I was thinking the same thing. Looks a little tooo silky and i have seen the commercial for the man buns too.

  • Dowoop

Im curious about what CIS is?

  • Tony

News flash–you need a refresher course, BOO!!

  • Lolalao

I wonder if he was ever hospitalized for pneumonia. That’s the give away right there…

  • RicanLBC

He ain’t been right since BUT STILL the fans are what have u being noticed u asshole

  • Enoughsaid2020

Let this man breathe. Sending prayers and strength to August Alsina.

  • Renee26

I’m not for man weaves at all

  • Lolalao

He did ask them to give him space. What exactly did you want this man to do? People are crazy!

  • Enoughsaid2020

It won’t save his life, just prolong it, in misery. Steve Job was a billionaire, and still died from liver cancer.

  • stanley

Medication is a completely different issue. duh

  • Lolalao

HIV can still cause damage to the liver without medication.

  • PlayerP

I am sincerely bothered by the fact people think that you have all access to celebrities. Do you follow your child’s school teachers and administrators around asking for pictures? What about the cops that patrol your neighborhood? Or your bank tellers and managers? Health care providers? Insert any number of other professions here, etc. These are often PUBLIC institutions that have a much larger affect on your day to day life than some singer or actor. It is one thing to admire someones craft and whole ‘nother to invade someones personal space and life. People are people and no matter what their chosen profession may be, they are entitled to some damn privacy and common courtesy, just like anybody else. And before people start talking about them being in the public eye, see the aforementioned.
I’ve been around plenty of celebrities and they get swarmed just trying to eat a meal, attend church, or in this case, grocery shop. Hell, I don’t care for having my picture taken even when I’m all dolled up. Don’t take it personal if someone doesn’t want to take a picture with you or sign an autograph.
I’m sure he was gracious at first but they took it too far. I ain’t mad at August, I’m mad at the lack of decorum and manners…it’s been on the decline for sometime now.

  • PlayerP

And, yes, I’m on a gossip site. It’s only entertainment. Most ish I feel is fake news or too personal.

  • Yall StayWoke

You must be going blind like August. Love, re-read what I wrote if you are capable. The point is…Black men are too quick to run pick up a gun at the 1st sign of them not being in control. Rarely are Black men carrying legally when using their weapon. I am a licenced, registered gun holder myself- but I use responsibly. I would never threaten anyone with a weapon. If I am drawing my gun- it is to kill as a final option- not to intimidate.

Its stupid not to travel with another person i.e., security. Even cops rarely ride alone. If Augustine lil sweet self not man enough to handle his business without drawing weapons he is even more of a dumb@$$ than I thought.

  • Yall StayWoke

Black men are not business oriented. They lack basic critical thinking ability, reading comprehension skills, and discernment. Of course Augustina would find it most appropriate to pull out a gun than have a trained, licensed, employee do it for him. Black men give white people job security by being dumb enough to not know and follow the law. #Koons

  • http://sandrarose.com SandraRose

This is why celebrities should stay off social media.

  • TeeTee

    no he has nice hair.

  • Malcom Flex

That’s right if not the gate is open.

  • Malcom Flex

When attention whoring goes wrong. I bet he went out flossing his man-weave wearing glitter lipstick. You don’t want to be recognized by these rabid young fatherless fans with no boundaries, dress down pull a cap over your damn face. Some BM can’t leave the hood behind.

  • TeeTee

lol… I’m sorry I love you … but this just tickled me pink (chuckles)

The bigger story is that he has fans! ?

  • true french

    Boom!

  • true french

Good point! I never tought about it that way. Thanks for the uplift. And I promise that I’m being sincere. We’re stuck in this “no shade” era when folks pretend they aren’t being disrespectful.

  • Harley

These new wave celebs put ALL their business out so these new wave idiots think it is ok. It is unfortunate we have few legends who keep to themselves and not look for attention.

  • Hell_On_Heelz

    ??????????

  • Tlowe89

Omg I’m laughing hot tears. I can’t lie if i saw him in public I woudlnt recognized him, bcus he’s not just that big, or well… hasn’t really been on the scene that much.

  • PlayerP

    Me three, totally agree.

Dont yall think that August is a flaming.. nevemind ?

  • Jussjess25

You would recoginze him with all the diffient collor hair her wears and ponytails.

  • Tlowe89

No wouldn’t, is just think he’s some regular guy….odd kind of guy, but I wouldn’t know who he was because he’s not relevant amymore.

  • TheWildChild

Wasn’t he just recently on Instagram begging for prayers due to some undisclosed mysterious illness that had people suspecting he had a serious STD of some sort?. I wonder if those fans were taunting him about that ?
