Uloma Curry-Walker

A cash-strapped newlywed who hired a hit man to kill her firefighter husband for his life insurance was found guilty of aggravated murder.

Uloma Curry-Walker, 45, planned to cash in on William Walker’s insurance four months after she married him in November 2013.

Prosecutors say Curry-Walker racked up thousands of dollars in debt when she asked her 17-year-old daughter if she knew anyone who would kill Walker.

Curry-Walker paid her daughter’s boyfriend, Chad Padgett, $1,000 to carry out the murder-for-hire. Padgett reached out to his cousin, Chris Hein, who recruited Ryan Dorty to kill Walker.

The firefighter was shot four times as he was on his way home from a fast food restaurant.

Prosecutors say Curry-Walker’s plan to collect on his life insurance was doomed because she wasn’t the beneficiary — his ex-wife was.

Padgett, Dorty, and Hein all agreed to plea deals to testify against Curry-Walker who faces life in prison.

As part of their plea agreements, Hein will serve 18 years to life; Padgett agreed to 28 years to life in prison, and Dorty was sentenced to 23 years to life.
