CNN reporter

An exhausted mother-of-2 who survived the worst tropical storm in modern history put a CNN reporter in check after the reporter attempted to exploit her family for TV ratings.

The soaking wet evacuee named “Danielle” had just arrived at a temporary shelter with her 2 children when CNN reporter Rosa Flores shoved a microphone in her face and asked her to “share with us how you were rescued.”

The wild-eyed mom explained how she and her children went without food for 36 hours waiting to be rescued from their flooded home but “nobody came.” She said she and the children waded through chest high water to a nearby gas station where they were picked up by a friend and transported to the shelter.

As Flores pestered her with more questions, Danielle snapped:

“We walked through four feet of water to get them food on the first day,” she said. “Yeah, that’s a lot of sh-t. But you all are sitting here trying to interview people through their worst time. Like that’s not the smartest thing to do.”

She continued:

“Like people are really breaking down, and you are all sitting here with cameras and microphones trying to ask us what the f-ck is wrong with us. And you really trying to understand with the microphone still in my face with me shivering cold, with my kids wet and you are still putting a microphone in my face!”

The shocked reporter backed off, muttering “Sorry. Sorry.”

Up to 30 people are confirmed dead after Hurricane Harvey swept through Southeast Texas dumping 50 inches of rain and packing 120 mph winds.

230 shelters are open across Texas.

  • SumthinSweeter

Reporters are annoying asf. Next time I bet she will double-triple check to make sure someone is okay to go on camera instead of rushing to do a live interview.

  • You Could Never

230 shelters are open across Texas.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^
231… if you pay the admission fee to go round “Joel’s House”

  • Blaque Mahogany

I’m 100% ok with this. The end.

  • Renee26

He better NOT be charging people!

  • You Could Never

She better than me from gate. I wouldnt have even broke stride to talk to anyone.

    Her: Excuse me can I speak…Me: nope…

*keeps right on walking with my kids behind me.*

  • E Jai

Am I the only one who saw the woman standing in the sideline waiting to be interviewed? I’m not understanding!!!

  • Rayne

Well the woman is hungry, in a state of stress with wet cold and hungry children by her side. The reporter should’ve just reported the news instead of trying to interview these poor ppl.

  • YellowSauce

they ASK before the interview if asking questions is okay … she was standing there like she was willing to speak and then spazzed …. and even if she didn’t ask this lady could have just walked away she didn’t have to speak … I understand her anguish but she didn’t have to engage she could have walked away … they are covering the flood because they DO CARE .. unlike the man that tried to televise “looting”

  • Rayne

Sometimes reporters will just grab your arm and attention while the cameras ? are rolling.

  • YellowSauce

Jai … read my statement below

  • YellowSauce

The reporter did not hold that lady hostage … she was free to walk

but the reporter was doing her job…so that was reporting the news. sometimes the reporters are doing what they are asked to do. it doesn’t mean they want to do it though. i don’t know about the station she works for but i work in the same field and thats how it is. i remember working customer service too just doing what we were asked to do even though we knew it was irritating to the customer.

  • kennedy220

    this is true too

  • kennedy220

i doubt it. her station wanted a good story.. they jusst got someone who had the vocabulary that they couldn’t use.most stations are always going to want the stories that tell most verbally, mentally, and physically…

  • Ryan

An enemy of my enemy is a friend of mine… If this had been a Fox Fake News reporter this post would’ve been written portraying that lady in a negative light, saying she didn’t know how to act…

Anyway, I was talking to somebody about this yesterday and they said she should’ve just ignored the reporter and kept it moving, but I can see how some people would want to vent their frustration after going through all of that.

  • Nancy Drew-Natural & Luv’n It!
  • WutizaGRANNY!

I think this NEEDED to be said to understand the impact from those who are experiencing this. I saw a live FB where this man was crying because the “Rescuer” are passing them up for YT pepo..He said he saw boat after boat come through and leave with them but they are still there…

  • You Could Never

Everyone knows…in my Phaedra voice…how I feel about him lol. Lawd. I done loved Bernard forever. My baby out here doing extra good for his community. I love you Bun!

  • kiddo1

Wow..So sad, but if it was me, I would have grabbed the mic and directed my frustration towards “your” coward ass President, I bet when I got mid thru my statement, the Reporter would have grabbed the mic from my ass!

I don’t blame Danielle. The reporter should have brought blankets and food. Anderson would have.

  • Lisa daniels

    You would did a Kanye??

  • Lisa daniels

The reporter probably lied and said they was going give them food and blankets first.

  • MsPam

Give it a break! Trump is not to blame for the hurricane, are you going to spend the next three years complaining about Trump?! Go help the people affected by the hurricane!!!

  • Nancy Drew-Natural & Luv’n It!

shew, i do this when i’m Not in crisis. i walk by all kinds of bothersome folk. like the ones standing outside the polls to hand you literature about their candidate AS you’re walking in to cast your votes. bish i ain’t got time for that! if yall didn’t get the message out before tuhday, that’s too bad. now please gtfomf, LOL!!!!

  • Lisa daniels

    ???

  • MythCalledLove

They don’t always ask permission. They take it for granted that people will talk to them. You see how some people hide their face or have to push away the camera all up in their face. In situations like this every reporter wants to get the big story. Every network wants to hv an exclusive. After emergency situations they try to get raw emotions and that’s what she got. This reporter was live she didn’t hv time to ask the person their name & what happened. Then they will get the persons name and tell them were to stand etc.. But you know these reporters stand in the wind, rain, hurricane, walk thru waist high snow. They do dumb $h!t. I’m glad someone told them off this is real life these people lost so much. Once the next big story arrives they forget about the people suffering they are on to the next.

these comments sound crazy to me … this lady is a reporter that was her job the red cross’ job is to bring the blankets and food … people are never satisfied … the lady could have used her 2 feet …she knew that lady didn’t have blankets and that microphone doesn’t look like a chicken leg SO WHY did she stand there https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/f28f3a0731fd15a56d3e8dad109022584c457cdc3c88a1671404a48fb4b6d205.gif

  • Shay

    lol

  • Lisa daniels

I am going to agree to disagree with you. I think the reporter may have lead her to believe that she was going to help her them ambushed the lady with cameras and a mic and when the.lady finally caught on she snapped.

  • You Could Never

    YES.

  • http://sandrarose.com SandraRose

If you notice the reporters are only interviewing black people in the shelters.

  • thrift.store.jungle

right! he wasn’t even president yet. they tried to blame him for everything

  • http://sandrarose.com SandraRose

I think there’s more to the story. Her wild, flashing eyes tell the true story.

  • Look@m3

WHy did people stay? Am I missing something from whats being reported??? I don’t understand why people stayed.

  • YellowSauce

this lady’s feet were not broken … if you wanna stick to it that its fine but in life don’t confuse feelings with facts …fact is that lady could have moved and she didn’t …. FACTS

  • Bonsai

Right, the lady could of walked off. Seems like she was itching to cuss someone out and the reporter got it.

  • You Could Never

They didnt know it was going to be this bad. Orders were issued for Corpus, Rockport and other coastal areas. Houston was just to get rain as a by product. Not a storm parked over the city for 4-5 days.

  • YellowSauce

right !!!! Thank You Bonsai … it irritates me when people try to insult my intelligence … this lady is not a tree and it didn’t look like her legs were broken

  • YellowSauce

that lady could have moved on too but she didn’t …she WANTED to act a fool on camera

  • YellowSauce

    lol

  • Bonsai

Most people who stayed were poor and didn’t have anywhere to go regardless. Therefore it’s the city’s job to take care of them and they should know full well what happens when you rely on the government to wanna care for you.

  • helpme2understand

    Lol

  • MsPam

They lied! So what? Obama doesn’t need people to defend him! Some black folks are stuck in the past that’s why some of us stay losing.

  • Look@m3

I was starting to think they were reporting something different there than what they were reporting to everyone else. But if it was in the path, it seems like the experienced weather people would have been able to forsee this. I don’t like how this is being played out and I feel like maybe some people knew that this storm was going to be bad but maybe the local news was telling people that it was ok or something. This is just too much! New Orleans is right next door!

  • http://sandrarose.com SandraRose

Wrong disaster. But, yeah, he was out of order for this: “Obama’s refusal to interrupt vacation amid Louisiana flooding stirs anger”
    http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/aug/18/obamas-golf-vacation-amid-louisiana-flooding-stirs/

  • You Could Never

This is not true. EVERY storm has a large amount of homeowners and biz owners who stay behind to protect their property from being looted/refuse to leave what they have built. So not just poor people.

Reporting to you live from the home of the Carolina HURRICANES.

  • Look@m3

Im bothered by this and I feel like this is what is b othering me. Especially when I saw the senior citizens sitting in that water….I just felt like there has to be inconsistent reporting or the local Governement didn’t do what they were supposed to do. SMH at this. Like how many Hurricans do we have to have to plan better….This is not like Atlanta Ice Storm.

  • Look@m3

Yeah some of the IG vids were people (who looked) like they were just staying back for what ever reason…but at the same time Im thinking aint no Category 1 2 3 4 5 6 storm is going to keep me from idiots that’s trying to commit crimes int he mist of it and Im certainly not going to protect a TV, xbox or surround sound from looters from my home and risk having my family there. If this is the case….Our priorities are officially screwed!

  • You Could Never

I really think it caught everyone offguard. Our forecasters cant even get snow right. We get told its gonna be a blizzard and get 1-2 inches. Also, all of the weather reports I saw didnt have that storm still sticking around almost a week later. Its still a tropical storm last time I checked. Ive never heard of a storm lasting a whole WEEK once it hits land.

  • MsVAllDay

    Now that was funny!!!!!!!!

  • Look@m3

Yeah me neither…….This mess is weirding me out tho foreal! All of these factors just don’t make sense to me and its not making logical sense.

  • Karen Brady

Can I say that I said the exact same thing when I saw it last night? She actually stood there waiting to be interviewed so… scratching my head..

  • You Could Never

It also went from an unnamed tropical wave to a Cat. 4 hurricane in 56 hours. I aint NEVER seen that. Ever. Im in NC so we see our fair share of hurricanes here too.

  • Karen Brady

Carrying on in front of her kids like that. It’s a shame.

  • Ni Ni

I don’t blame that lady. You could tell she had enough.

I was watching the news last night and boats were going by to pick up the people in what looked like an affluent community. When they came to one house the lady said she couldnt find her cat so they had to waste time helping find her cat. Other neighbors were getting in the boats with their dogs too. I hope people with pets are taken to a different shelter or at least put them in a different part of the shelter. People are already dirty and irritated.

  • You Could Never

Ms. Sofia carried on in front of hern too. Shit happens.

  • Look@m3

Then people talking about the dates and how it happened around the same time as Katrina, I was like what is going on in this world! Lord!!!! It makes me think could something else happen in another 12 years!!!

  • Noirluv45

    Hilarity! ?

  • Look@m3

BTW Im so in love NC. I can not wait to go back!

  • Nancy Drew-Natural & Luv’n It!

    ok

  • JV

The Weather Channel basically threw it’s hands up and said: we’ve never seen anything like this. But developing over wetlands that could have contained a lot of this water naturally did them no favors. But yeah, when something of this magnitude happens, bottom line is a lot of bad stuff is going to happen no matter what is done.

  • Pebbles

Once the woman get situated and her life in order. I hope she gives a real interview on what actually happened because at this point time people are making assumptions, speaking without knowledge… and talking about what she should’ve done. I’ve watched people on the news waddling through water trying to make it to safety and the people hadn’t reached the sidewalk and the reporter running up to them with camera asking questions.

It was clear as day that Danielle looked as if she was ready to break down herself but trying to hold it together.

  • Ni Ni

Mother nature always wins no matter how hard people prepare. Playing the blame game wont help either. Some people just didn’t have anywhere to go. We’ve stayed in our home many times during severe weather. People can’t just up and leave whenever there’s a threat. You just never know which one is the big one.

  • JV

It would be smart to only interview people who are composed and willing to speak. Seems like she just shoved a mic in her face basically. I’m not saying she held her hostage and I understand they need people on the ground to report but it she didn’t follow proper protocol here.

  • Noirluv45

“Are you going to spend the next three years complaining about Trump?” Girl, I am until his crazy ass is impeached! ??

  • Look@m3

I understand that but after seeing Katrina, I just think a lil different I guess. Minus homeless people. Im not trying to blame anyone, but trying to understand how something this massive happened a 2nd time around. Im curious to know how information was being reported on a local level because from where I live all I heard was Category 4 to me “That’s the mother nature not to play with” so the Gov should have TRIED to evacute the city but when I see old people sitting in merky water it aint about blame its wtf did we do wrong so we don’t let this ish happen again! Especially if we had a chance to learn from Katrina who is next door to TX.

  • MissHarlem

Somewhat off topic….nature will be nature she’s to be respected because she will let you have it. Stop fckn with nature with chemtrails etc and thinking there’s no consequences. There’s a state in the Midwest it escapes me but they are now having multiple earthquakes because of fracking. Never had them before until this. That same mayor backs the theory of globalization warming being a joke etc. He also backs 45. He will not put into place any laws to protect nature there. Soon that state will have bigger issues.
I also seen a video on ig of a black dude holding back tears because his neighborhood isn’t affluent and they not rescuing US there.

  • Look@m3

….and now they saying the storm is making landfall again wed. morning! Something is up! I don’t like how this is playing out!

  • MsPam

Then you really need to get a life! As my Big Mama would say ” you sound like a fool!”

  • JV

That was my take. Report on what’s happening sure, but find someone who is in stable condition and open to communicating. Don’t just ambush the first person you find.

  • You Could Never

    YASSSS.

In my DJ Khaled voice…ANOTHER ONE!

  • Vixen

I had this discussion with someone. Some people can’t afford to just up and move or leave at the snap of a finger. Just a question not trying to start with you..if today or next Monday you were told of a storm…do you think you are well prepared financially to just up root and leave? Money for food, gas etc. not to mention if you have children. Everyone’s situation is not the same nor does everyone have family they can call for help if need be.

  • Look@m3

    LMAO

  • JV

” the Gov should have TRIED to evacute the city”
    ———–
The problem is, evacuating 8.5 million people would have been a logistical nightmare, and may have done more harm than good.

  • klwbaby

I think most people stay because they have no choice. If the storm affects a large area, then people would have to travel a far distance which means they have to purchase gas, if its a family then u not only have to pack clothes and basic things u have to make sure u have enough food and god forbid u have a sick kid then that’s a whole other set of issues to deal with.

  • Vixen

Thank you! States that have these types of climate weather should be prepared at all times. It’s like only the most “important” people will be safe..

  • Noirluv45

Exactly, plus regardless of where Houstonians went, they were going to run into flood waters or hurricane forces moving to Louisiana.

  • Noirluv45

Right, and they may not even have a car.

  • Shay boogie

It was reported as Category 2 on a local level for a while. When it changed to category 4, it was too late to try and evacuate a city with 6 million. There would be way more deaths bc people would’ve been stuck on that same highway that’s looking like the ocean. Sucks but they had a better chance of being rescued.

  • Noirluv45

Plus, Roland Martin, a native Houstonian, said that no matter what direction, roads and highways were flooded and if they went to Louisiana, the hurricane was set to hit there too.

  • Noirluv45

    Exactly!

  • Look@m3

True but to not to do something Is even worst. IDK people are hired to figure things like this out. Im not from TX but Im just shocked that from what we have seen so far that there are not peoplein place to figure out how to not make t his a logistical nightmare. I always believe you can find a way…….Atlanta found a way to move all the homeless people from downtown Atlanta for the Olympics so they can try and figure out how to maneuver people out of those paths of destruction. Is there a train system in place heading north. At that point everyone should be riding nort of TX for Free, Charter busses should have been shipping people out. Im just curious and got questions. Florda, Alabama, Miss, Louisiana and TX should all have a similar plan when a Category 4 is about to hit. IDK…maybe im thinking to much!

  • Look@m3

True…that’s why Im trying to figure out what was being reported because I swear I had been hearing this was a cat 4 prior to this storm even hitting land. Most of these storms start out low but grows to something more worse then its supposed to dissipate once it hit land.

  • http://sandrarose.com SandraRose

What part of “people should head to north Texas” doesn’t Roland understand?

  • Wreckognize Game

    Some reasons why people stay:
. They successfully rode a hurricane or tropical storm out before
    . No transportation
    . No money to leave
. Not enough money to stay elsewhere
.No other family to stay with because entire family stays in the same state
. My family sat on a twin span bridge
surrounded by water for over 24 hours during Katrina so now have PTSD
    .Scared
.Looking for other family members before we leave
    .ETC

  • Look@m3

I think if I had to I would find a way honestly! No I don’t have a weather radio(need one) or any emergency kits, but I think if I had to find a way, I would. I understand some people can’t get out but for those that can not I believe that is where the gov should be able to step in and help.

  • Look@m3

There has to be trains heading north, planes……they didn’t have to go New Orleans but they can move North, North West or something….anywhere but in the path of the storm.

  • Karla E

    24 people dead. Sad…

  • Noirluv45

How could the government step in and evacuate millions of people and where would they put them?

  • Noirluv45

    SMH. So sad.

  • Mia Said so

So there will be no need to once she gets settle to give an interview she not thinking about those people and why should she.. you said it best WE DONT KNOW. I had to deal with Sandy and that still was noting like Harvey.. this is heart breaking..

  • Mia Said so

This just makes me cry breaks my heart because we never know we are so Bless.. I stop right now just to give God praise.

  • Noirluv45

He explained that, Sandra. Maybe they didn’t have the means to head north. Not everyone can just get up and relocate.

  • Look@m3

Well if they hired people to figure this out because there are people who are hired to strategically figure out how to minimize traffic flow in the cities then Im sure they can come up with something. I am not a expert in this field so I can not give you an answer but I can assure you if they hire the right people to assess the city streets, highways and transportation in each city and its population per city, it wont be easy, there is a method to doing it. BUT “Failing to plan is planning to fail” So any state that is prone to natural disasters on this level should have an emergency evacuation plan in place. JS. That’s like every building should have an emergency evacuation plan even if its the world trade center. These are measure that are required to be in place!

  • Karla E

I can understand her frustration with the CNN reporter but there are many people who don’t mind talking about their experience. The reporter did right by apologizing and backing off.

  • SumthinSweeter

    Lmaoooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Noirluv45

I hear what you are saying, that in the real world, that’s now how things work. The money we pay to go towards roads and highways don’t hit their target; therefore, we have streets and highways that are in disrepair. I live in NC near I-95, and there are parts that are littered with pot holes. I can see evacuating whole towns if the said towns are small, but like others said, Houston has millions of people. How do you round up all those people and where do you move them to?

  • lilli lilian

In some areas we were told it was safe to stay, then things fell completely apart and all the elected officials could do was say “we couldn’t have predicted this,” and they couldn’t have…I guess. The weather forecast told them the coastal areas, but Harvey decided he needed to wreck havoc on ALL areas, it was pure madness. My area was spared, but drive 8 minutes (literally 8 minutes) behind me and it’s mandatory evac. because of endless rain water. The power is still on, but the water is deadly. So why did people stay, 1. because they were told in certain areas they would be fine and to stay put, 2. they lived in what should have been “no flood zones,” but Harvey changed that, 3. after previous storms they raised their homes, they thought they did what was necessary, but again, Harvey changed the game. People thought they were safe to the point that the grocery stores still have decent food and drinks in good stock because on certain sides of town no one ever imagined having to really stock up and shelter in place like this. By the time the officials announced “danger!” it was too late to flee

  • Karla E

Sandra since you’re one of few blogs posting about the disaster, why not help by posting on where to send donations with your dumb ass. Do something constructive for once instead of being the opinionated hateful bitch you are.

  • Look@m3

I guess Im just frustrated and don’t get this. I cant say the same isn’t the case here in Atlanta because Kaseem Reed don’t give a rats 2 cents about 285 being a dump or I20 being jammed! That’s why we got Mary Poppins on her bike in the middle of downtown during rush hour along with movies being filmed during rush hours. I guess that’s why the snow storm hit us like it did because he don’t care about the citizens of ATL. I just wish people would do right by their people!!!

  • SumthinSweeter

Working in public relations or customer service, you learn to read peoples body language and facial expressions. Hell the lady was soaking wet and stressed. Look at her eyes. Only a dumb ass would approach someone like that for the purpose of serving their own needs (getting a story out of her). I don’t care what your job requires, human decency and respect should be everybody’s 1st priority in traumatic situations like this. The reporter was going for the dramatic affect and got wtf she deserved.

  • Noirluv45

I hear ya! I think about Katrina and how they were flat out abandoned.

  • Chuck

This “Danielle” bih acts like people owe her something. No one told you to have babies and not be able to support them. This reporter is doing her job, something “Danielle” probably doesn’t have. GTFOH!

  • JV

How do we know what Danielle is or isn’t able to provide when everything she’s provided thus far is underwater somewhere?

  • KLo

She shouldn’t took the interview if she tired of people in her face. Something good might’ve came out of it by telling her story

  • lilli lilian

Pets are pretty much equal to people here, they are spoiled like how you would see people spoil them in the movies, you see as many fancy pet care stores and pet day academy’s as you do wholefood stores and pets are welcomed into a good deal of stores, so I doubt people in the shelter are bothered by the pets, someone in the news was bothered by the homeless though, it was cruel but she said she was thinking about leaving the shelter because of them

    Where would they go?

I bet hotels/motels within 100 miles are packed if they haven’t been impacted by the flooding.

Evacuating can be almost as dangerous as staying.

I remember they said the last time they tried to evacuate Houston (maybe it was during Ike) that approximately 100 people died of heat stroke while they stranded on interstates trying to leave.

  • http://batman-news.com Roderick2011

Exactly. I think Harvey is impacting a larger area than they had initially expected and it went more toward the east than predicted.

People act as if they knew what was going to happen.

  • Chuck

From her response. Besides, if a man was in the picture, he would have spoken.

  • Chuck

It may be insensitive, but I was only commenting on her interview.. that’s all.

  • Kimberly Malakoff

It’s easy to understand why folks that aren’t from Houston, and surrounding areas, are confused about evacuation orders. Our mayor, the wonderful Sylvester Turner, said it best:

    1. We are the 4th largest city in the United States.
    2. Coordinating a mass evacuation for 6.5 million people within 48 hours is impossible. (Check out photos from our highway system from Hurricane Ike and Rita. More folks died on our gridlocked highways than from any devastation from the actual hurricane.)
    3. Forecasters could not predict the actual amount of rainfall that would inundate specific areas that are already prone to high water.

It’s very easy to look at your TV screen and judge our actions, isn’t it?

We’re the bayou city, folks. A coastal city. We’re used to floods and hurricanes. We have top notch drainage systems for our communities. Contrary to popular belief, the majority didn’t stick around because they are poor, or had no means to leave; but because we’re strong Houstononians with common sense who have weathered the storm together before and will weather it together again! #staystronghouston

  • http://batman-news.com Roderick2011

The culprit is overdevelopment and governments want the money that property taxes will bring in so they allow real estate developers build where they shouldn’t and now we see the consequences.

  • Ajavee

Man or no man with her that’s besides the point she is mentally, emotionally and physically tired. Do you think you would respond the same way if you were stuck like she was? You never know someone else’s situation you are coming off harsh.

  • Ajavee

I agree with your entire post. I live on the coast of SC I can relate.

I get your point Look@m3 . You think people would do right by their people unfortunately that is not always the case.

These hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, etc., are all a result of human engineering/geo engineering. This is all a part of the military’s HAMP program. It’s so sophisticated to where they are able to steer the direction of these man made disasters. Not only did they steer the direction of Katrina and now Harvey, but they controlled the amount of rain that was dumped on New Orleans and Houston. There’s no such thing as a natural disaster. Next time you watch the gv’t controlled weather report, pay attention to their dopplar and the directions these storms take. They choose the locations that they want to cause destruction in. Weather is one of their many weapons. And the meteorologists are all in on it. They have these buildings all across the country that contain these massive generators that create clouds using hydrogen and oxygen and are blown into the air causing a water vapor which then causes rain. That’s why when you fly in an airplane, you can go through a city with blue skies and no clouds, but the next city you fly through is extremely cloudy and or rainy. That’s because man has learned how to create thesr clouds and interefere with the climate. Nothing is what it seems.

  • Karen Brady

I saw it and coudn’t believe it. But people love their animals.

  • YellowSauce

or maybe she froze when she saw the camera and her legs didn’t work lol

  • YellowSauce

what proper protocal do you speak of lol … when the clip started danielle was standing there WILLINGLY … SHE KNEW HER NAME … look Mr JV … that lady didn’t do anything to danielle even knew her name … if danielle did not want to do that interview she didn’t have to .. I don’t care about your feelings STICK TO THE FACTS …everything I said was facts …. she didn’t follow her when she walked away she let her go .. i saw another interview with a man that was walking the streets with his small child he stopped spoke to the journalist and just kept saying he was blessed and thankful … so NO i don’t have time for danielle’s fake breakdown …. she did that FOR TV … my BS radar is on pizzle my nizzle … lol

  • Solstice
  • YellowSauce

these people are really trying to say this journalist did something to this woman … that lady did nothing to that woman

  • IamAllnatural

I feel her pain. They have gone through alot trying to survive and they have a long road ahead. She should not be judged because everyone responds to stress differently. Praying for all affected by the floods!

  • YellowSauce

straight crazy town …. I know a crazy bih when I see one

  • Noirluv45

I love this, Solstice! Speak for me, Brandy!

  • YellowSauce

    sho’ lly did … lol
and it got her laid out
    some black eyes
    and jail time
but yeah she ended up alright

  • Noirluv45

I have a life, thank you very much. The fool is you because MOST people with enough sense to want a racist, idiotic, narcissistic, immature, unfit to be president nimrod out of office, would agree with me, not you. But then again, there are those who foolishly enough think he’s their savior. Too bad you in the the later category than in the first. Your bad.

  • Noirluv45

How does 45’s behind taste, Ms. Pam?

  • ?Royalty?

Can I be all the way honest here?

If interviewing people was not the smartest thing for the news channel to do, then why did she wait patiently next to the news lady for the interview to begin?
She was being extra as hail.
Tough times doesn’t mean sense goes out the window. If she was feeling fragile she should have kept it moving and they could have spoken to another person who was eager to share their story.
Someone else could have been afforded the opportunity to plug a charity or even their own GoFundMe account for help and support.

  • SouthernGirlAZWorld

    OMG claps

  • YellowSauce

    nope

  • MsPam

I don’t know I’m waiting for your mother to tell me! Don’t play with me!!!

  • EMILY POST

    Leave it to CNN….

  • YellowSauce

you don’t know someone is crazy til they start acting crazy … at the beginning she seemed fine … lol AND THEN had a breakdown furthermore how do you know she was the first person she saw … like I said … this lady was a willing participant and then she got mad which is totally understandable due to the circumstances BUT that is not the reporters fault man

  • MsPam

I don’t think Trump nor Obama is a savior. Jehovah god is my savior. You dummies get caught up with these politicians black or white who don’t give a damn about you until election time.

  • Karla E

#2 reason was obvious. It could have been worse had they all been on the road while the streets were flooding. The mayor made a sound decision for his people.

  • Karen Brady

Okay so I’m not the only one who saw her waiting patiently while the reporter was babbling.

  • Ain’t Misbehavin

Right, she started off cool… kinda seem like misguided anger.

  • Karen Brady

lol ..now why did I get that song funky town in my head? But yes. that’s just how she came across.

  • Karen Brady

Oh shyt I was just about to ask who Ms. Sofia is and then a light bulb went off.. that scene made me sad :-(.

  • Karen Brady

    I see this too.

  • Karen Brady

With a nice side of antics every now and again

  • kennedy220

got it…but when your job is asking to do something most people normallly just do it…unless they can just get up and go work some place else just like that. all i’m saying is if you worked in the field you might understand why the reporter did what she did. i do understand that the lady wasn’t feeling it though. although she stood there as if she wasn’t about to be interviewed

  • Noirluv45

You are clearly a very irrational person, and I, being rational, don’t have time to continue to interact, so with that said, have a blessed day, and may your Jehovah God give you peace.

  • Noirluv45

My mother is dead, so she wouldn’t know. That’s why I was asking you since you seem to be Team 45. Your ranting and raving and anger clearly shows us that you support him. Did Jehovah God tell you too?

  • MsPam

I’m not team anyone I don’t care about 45 nor 1-44. Go find a mother figure so they can tell you how stupid you sound!

  • kiddo1

Since my comment to you was not posted, let me say this in another way…Yep I will keep complaining about “YOUR” President until they get his Orange ass out of office! and for your info I help and have helped those is need of..So on that note “did you have any complaints for the 8yrs when A Real Man was in office” fool have several Seats!!!

  • JV

Having not seen the video myself, maybe the reporter wasn’t in the wrong. But I can understand how I person in her situation could be upset.

  • Rayne

    Yea

  • MsPam

    Not my president

  • RICHIE_RICH

    Amen ??, stay strong baby

  • MsPam

    I cared about 44 like I care for 45 I Don’t GIVE A DAMN NIETHER OF THEM

  • Evillene

It would have been SOOOO easy for that woman to avoid being interviewed on TV. That center was FULL and she was the only one standing there talking to a reporter. I cant comprehend her trauma and despair but I wouldn’t have compounded it screeching on national news with my terrified children clinging to me. Lots of crazy folk without their lithium.

  • ouzad D

I love intelligently stated opinions and statements

  • Michael Dante

Valid points. And for those commenting she should have had “class” let me show you class… go f*** yourself. This woman went through so much and you want to preach about how you handle it.

Let me see your dumba** in a similar situation. You’re in a house, went to work, fed and happy and expect these people to be in a good mood?! The reporter and all of them, including those fake let me help one person on a boat reporter, all are such posers. Glad she said that since I think the same thing every disaster as it’s obvious ratings reporting but only the feeble minded think it’s sincere journalism.

So if you’re dry and not in water and have a home stfu. Oh.. And have a nice day.

  • ?Royalty?

    Lawd………..Lmaoo!!

  • https://twitter.com/Chicagowise Chicagowise

If she didn’t want to talk to the reporter, she should have said so. Furthermore, yelling and swearing in front of her already distressed children, wasn’t a very motherly thing to do.

  • nick c

It’s a very traumatic situation why you just laying up in the house surfing the internet, get real.

  • Malai

    I second that.

  • https://twitter.com/Chicagowise Chicagowise

If I didn’t want to talk to a reporter, I would say so, and politely walk away. Cursing and yelling in front of your traumatized children is irresponsible parenting. In times of stress, children need their parents’ reassurance that everything is going to be okay.

  • https://twitter.com/Chicagowise Chicagowise

By the way… I’m not “laying up in the house.” I’m outside, on the lakefront.

  • kennedy220

Tell that to the boss lol. I used to work customer service over the phone and the boss wasn’t having employee excuses.. all they knew was sell sell sell…but again in her case and I work with news reporters they want a story. I’m sure the reporter was well aware of the types of responses she would get. Maybe it was well deserved but it’s not going to stop her from doing her job. That was the main point

  • Faux Gibbler

Reporters shouldn’t be asking stupid questions and to be frank, hopefully this is a wake up call to media.

  • Faux Gibbler

I’m not judging. I have donated to the Red Cross (I would really rather help a family directly since RC is saying money only) and my heart hurts for Houston. Yes, Houston will get past this but it’s so sad..

  • PlayerP

Exactly…it was live television, obviously. She should asked would like to interviewed first.

  • Dem Moore

I will say unless you have been trapped for five days in a home, have walked through four feet of water, and waited 36 hours to be rescued only to get the call after you”ve decided to leave. I dont think you should be really judging her. She is clearly just trying to hold it together. I saw the worst of my mother when times were bad, because she was a real person she could only react in a way that was true to how she felt, fear, anger, hurt. Im sure if this lady went through this every year she would be better prepared but I don’t think that was the case. The point is sometimes people come undone and our children are sometimes witness to that. Really I would have gotten mad as well girl bye women to women get that out my face until I dry my kids, I think she was saying what everyone was thinking at the center she kinda acted as a spokeswoman, and you could tell by the daughters face once the mom started cursing that’s not her character.

  • http://www.Samanthagwrites.com Samantha G.

Do you have a soul?? Serious question ?????. Because this is the second insensitive comment I’ve read from you on this blog. Very unempathetic

  • http://www.Samanthagwrites.com Samantha G.

One question should have been enough. More than that is an interview and the reporter should have put work to the side to think and feel like a real human being. She deserved that blow up. That is all.

  • http://www.Samanthagwrites.com Samantha G.

Exactly, but no worries. Life has a way with teaching lessons. That kind of energy of playing critic when there’s no room for it will only beget a front row seat in the class of karma. Let them keep at it. Just disgusting.

  • Tanya

She was talking normal and then went into a different mode. I was having a conversation with someone about this video who felt she overreacted and could have just walked off but I say every person affected by this won’t be in the same frame of mind. Give people time and ask necessary questions before interviewing anyone else.

  • Karla E

I agree but pretty sure she curses on a regular in front of them.

  • Karla E

Wake up call? What country do you think this is???

  • Karla E

Save your common sense. While they are yapping at you about one chick, many others have no problem talking to the media.

  • VanillaCaramel2shotsExpresso

As an educator and behavior science major working with children as young as 5 and old as 19 in the public school system I completeletly disagree with you! This woman is a true life Wonder Woman and heroine and her kids love, respect , and treasure her for getting them out of the flood to safety ! Yes she snapped and that was “protection mode” again. She realized she was answering these silly ass questions when my kids and I are soaking wet! She was polite to answer one question but two or three was her breaking point and everything hit her at once . Keeping her and all flood victims in both states in prayer .

  • PlayerP

    Completely apathetic.

  • Kimberly King

We can ALL say what we would have done or what she should have done and blah blah blah. Try going 36 hours without food with 2 kids and trying to dodge a deadly flood. What CNN trifling asses SHOULD have been doing was passing out water, food, clothing, blankets and other necessities instead of exploiting those without. That thot conducting the interview had 0 sympathy. My home is in Houston. Some of the Galleria area is slightly flooded, but my area was fine. I can’t even be happy about it because I’m so concerned with the people who couldn’t evacuate. I’m a school teacher and we have no clue when we will be able to return to HTX. This who situation is crazy.

  • Electricbird83

That’s ALL the media has been doing is finding individuals to help mark their impact journalistically speaking to a situation ALL news outlets have been sensationalizing so it seems. Throughout this whole mess there has been one reporter who I saw literally put down her damn mic and helped– albeit she seemed as though she was trying to make a news item out of her self- she stopped and helped which is more than I can say for most the reporters who report on a daily basis.

But what a world it is coming to when some cant sympathize for a MOTHER who has been in the cold and wet with her children, when some want to say what she should have done when she has been through everything she has been through with her kids! Shame on you! I don’t know how I would react if I was stuck somewhere with my son and if someone came to me they prob would of got it too.

  • Tobias Judah

Even a simple person would have made it clear from the beginning they didn’t want an interview. Not stand with a reporter, allow her to put a mic in her face, and then explode half way into the interview about the damn mic in her face. Why do so many Black women think the world owes them license to blow up and lose their sh*t with no sense of self control and indivisual responsibility??

  • http://www.tiffanyinthecity.wordpress.com/ Tiffanyinthecity

How is it “common sense” when people have DIED trying to weather the storm? Cmon now. It was stupid to stay. Anyone with common sense got the hell out.

  • http://www.tiffanyinthecity.wordpress.com/ Tiffanyinthecity

That last part was dumb though. Common sense to weather the storm? But 40 people have died. ?????

  • Kimberly Malakoff

Okay Tiffany. Houston lost hundreds of people previously during a mass evacuation from a hurricane. Hundreds. Not from the storm, you see, but from clogged highways.

Have you ever been to a city with 6 million, or nah?

  • Kimberly Malakoff

Wow. Very small world you live in, indeed. Lol!

  • sunni_daze

Hope that was the soundbite CNN was looking for.

  • YellowSauce

Me too JV … I have compassion for her plight … my only point was that I just don’t feel like the reporter was trying to be shady

  • Doink_Ahanahue

The News has always done that. Every hurricane putting a person in the storm reporting from outside during the storm. Finding survivors to interview after, searching out those who refuse to evacuate and want to “ride it out”. Nothing new, they didn’t assist then and they rarely do now.

I do agree, I don’t know how I would act, but I have been in tough situations where certain people approaching was an inconvenience and I haven’t reacted in that way.
I do agree with @Tobias Judah to an extent though. Why do the interview at all? If you’re focused on your children or too distressed, just say no

  • http://www.swedishsoul.com Christina Duphorn Zehnder

well said. she sould have gotten food water and warm clothes.

  • https://twitter.com/Chicagowise Chicagowise

“This woman is a true life Wonder Woman and heroine and her kids love, respect , and treasure her for getting them out of the flood to safety !”

You have no idea what kind of woman or parent she is, and you certainly have NO idea how her children feel about her. I, on the other hand, have irrefutable video evidence that she is the kind of person who explodes under pressure.

“Yes she snapped and that was “protection mode” again. She realized she was answering these silly ass questions….”

Who she protecting by being obnoxiously and unnecessarily rude? Furthermore, that’s what reporters do… they ask questions. If she didn’t want to answer questions, she could have politely said, “no,” and walked away. Instead, she compounded her children’s stress by causing a scene.

  • https://twitter.com/Chicagowise Chicagowise

    That’s an excellent point.

  • https://twitter.com/Chicagowise Chicagowise

If your definition of the word soul derives from the biblical narrative of that word, no, I don’t have a soul and neither do you. It appears you’re confusing logic with insensitivity.

  • Karla E

If Chicagowise was apathetic he wouldn’t be so concerned about the mother cursing in front of her children. Black people like to use words to be smart. You’re not smart.

  • ShWa

But they have your name which means u agreed to an interview, next time just decline the interview…

  • VanillaCaramel2shotsExpresso

He/sh/it is a troll … the under the bridge kind. Let them wade through all that water after going without food for 36 hours and see if you would be a dignified , proper, mild mannered person. ?

  • MocaPretty

It needed to be said. As a reporter have some common decency if you’re going to report of a tragedy such as this at least compensate the people bring a blanket, food or something dont just shove mics in people’s faces!

  • Malcom Flex

Post traumatic stress. I’m ashamed of the brothas too many single mother sistas on tv with no man and the kids, shameful.

  • TheWildChild

Sad tho, but after living in Houston twice, one can and must prepare for heavy rainfall or storm. It’s a way of life known among most Houstonian’s. Have a plan to evacuate, rich or poor. Map out a local church in your area and get to or the areas accessible for rescue boats. Camp out if need be. Know your areas highest elevation. This city is so large with limited manpower to save everyone at the same time would be impossible. With all the catastrophic weather related events and cellphone technology, have a plan. As cruel as this may sound, save yourself. Actually, 72 hours Prior to this storm, people were focused more on hoarding food from the grocery shops than planning an escape route, especially if you know your hood is in a flood zone or plain.

  • CDS

Maybe she thought she would be able to share what she had been through and as she began to talk she started reliving it and became upset. And to your remark about Black women and the license to blow up………We have not always had the license/right to speak or even look directly at white people much less show our emotions about anything. NO Self Control?! How much self control does it take to silently stand by a watch a love one be beaten, hung and killed and you do and say NOTHING?! How much self control does it take to watch your daughter, mother be taken and raped and you do and say nothing?! YOU clearly have NO knowledge of history. Because if Black Women have nothing else, we have self control. What we also have now is the ability to express our self’s so now we do and we are exercising that license/right to feel any damn way we want and expressing it any damn way we want! My heart and prayers go out to everyone that is suffering due to Harvey. I have donated what I am able to and will continue to pray for all of them.

  • NIA

I wouldn’t have utter one Word it open the door for more questions.

Them reporters need to help and do something and let the camera people record their good DEEDS! instead of asking questions it’s hard enough they cold and hungry lost everything. STUPID CNN!

  • Faux Gibbler

Come on. Reporters always ask dumb questions. Diane Sawyer’s famous one is, “how do you live with yourself” like when a man’s wife was murdered.

  • http://www.tiffanyinthecity.wordpress.com/ Tiffanyinthecity

I was with you until you tried to insult everyone’s intelligence by saying it was “common sense” for everyone to stay in Houston to weather the storm. It clearly wasn’t common sense to stay for the people that died.

  • Jen

Why did she stand answering some of their questions, then suddenly flip out? She’s a special kinda crazy or mayb just seeking attention.

  • sjames

probably just trying to be polite like ok let me give you some coverage then move on
