Master P Tameka Tiny Harris

Master P publicly checked Kevin Hart for demanding celebrities open their wallets and donate to Hurricane Harvey victims in Texas. The 47-year-old Louisiana rapper criticized the pint-sized comedian in an interview with gossip webloid TMZ on Tuesday.

The tropical storm struck Texas over the weekend resulting in widespread flooding and devastation in the Houston metropolitan area.

In response to the natural disaster, Kevin issued a video challenge to his celebrity friends to match his donation of $25,000 to the American Red Cross to help with relief efforts.

Celebrities such as Chris Brown, Tip "T.I." Harris, Beyonce, Kim Kardashian, Nicki Minaj, and others answered the challenge by donating over $1 million collectively.

Although Master P has donated money to help people in Texas and Louisiana, he feels strong-arming stars into giving money is the wrong approach.

He told TMZ.com, "I'm blessed that Kevin Hart made a donation but I feel like he don't have to do that because it's not necessary, I mean a lot of people gonna do what they wanna do, I mean it's their money."

"I don't think you need to do that with other people, let them give from their heart," added the hip hop mogul, whose real name is Percy Robert Miller.

His hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana was hit hard by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, resulting in more than 1,800 deaths, but he feels charity should be a personal matter.

Master P is currently dating T.I.'s estranged wife Tameka "Tiny" Harris, 42. The couple are team owners in the newly founded mixed gender professional basketball league.

Sandra, the Ryan Cameron morning show called u a bluff yesterday

  • WutizaGRANNY!
  • Mr.LeBrickJames

I agree with him. You shouldn't have to "challenge" or shame people into giving. Giving is a personal matter for each person.

  • Angela Winbush

Master P IS NOT DATING TINY!!!! Geesh Sandra is this your idea of a PR Stunt to gain more readers to your site???

  • E-VannaRootsAllEvil

Wanda read the story and called her a bluff. Ryan and some other guy agreed.

  • Guess Who

    Do spill!

  • TheOwley

I dislike Hollywood and most entertainers for this one reason. They live well protected in there ivory towers looking down at the world and completed disconnected from the everyday struggle. They only come down for the collection of your money at the concert then retreat to their spas and caviar while dictating to the world how we should vote, eat, and continue to support their bloated lifestyles.

  • WutizaGRANNY!

    OH ok.

  • http://www.NeCola.Mayvenn.com Chile_Pleeze

I agree with Master P.. yes I cannot believe I typed that myself... BESIDES.. the RED CROSS is in business to line their pockets before they help anyone and you not they can guarantee that your $$$ (or rather the $0.15 of that $1.00 after their 85 cent cut) is going directly to Harvey victims

  • http://www.NeCola.Mayvenn.com Chile_Pleeze

Wanda make sure she said.. ACCORDING TO SANDRA ROSE.. NOT ME.. BUT SANDRA ROSEEEEEEEEE

  • Look@m3

All I got from this article was that Tiny is dating Master P......sigh!

  • JV

I see no wrong in a donation challenge or anything like that, but please reconsider before donating to the Red Cross. They have a poor track record. Research before donating.

Also, that's neat they're starting a mixed gender league. I heard Glen Davis signed up for it, so good for them. I hope it's better than Ice Cube's atrocious 3-man league or whatever. I gave it a shot and watched the worst half-hour of "basketball" in my life.

  • MookieFly

You cant make a aint shyt nikka do shyt. I dont mind Kevin's challenge because the right ones will step up and the rest will say a prayer and go back to tweeting about their next single. They should send that money directly tho.

  • We Can Do This

A high percentage goes right into the director personal account and it's perfectly legal.

  • https://twitter.com/Chicagowise Chicagowise

The Make a Wish Foundation uses the same dirty tactics.

I remember when they tried to strong-arm Ina Garten, the host of Barefoot Contessa, in to visiting a dying boy. When she didn't respond to their request, they used the media to attack her.

Frankly, I don't know a single child, male or female, whose bucket list includes meeting a woman who makes meatloaf on TV. ?

I think the kid's mother was using her dying son as a vehicle to facilitate her own desires.

The Make a Wish Foundation needs to create a registry. If people are interested, they can sign up to participate in the program. Instead of contacting random "celebrities," recipients have to choose from the participating celebs on the list.

Obviously, I disagree with the way Kevin handled this situation.

  • E-VannaRootsAllEvil

    Sure did! Kept repeating herself

  • what?why

I was thinking the same thing - take care of yourself Kevin!

  • You Could Never

So now that P and Tiny are dating supposedly allegedly we gonna get news on them on a reg?

And God forbid we gotta start hearing the tidbits of their 25 children betwixt them.

    #Icanna.

  • You Could Never

I will say I have seen a shit load of other sites reporting they are dating and giving the credit on the tea to Sandra. I hope its true. Got folks out here risking their blog livelihoods if it aint, is sad.

  • Lorenzo Chaps

Master P also shot down the rumor of dating Tiny, someone he just met. He says they're doing business together.

Kevin meant well, but I was say that also. I don't have to be called or challenged to do anything with my money. Thankfully so many have been generous and willing to help.

  • MookieFly

I said the same thing. Celebs influence a good percent of society, basically are a charity service themselves, but can't be bothered to donate to a relief fund when it really matters? Da FOH.

  • Oretta Grace Smith

Master is 100% right. If Kevin wants to give, GOOD, but let others choose. He does NOT know the pockets of others!!!

  • Lorenzo Chaps

Angelllaaaaaaaaaaaa. Hey Sis, hit that note, any one of em. "Bring Your Love Back Home" is one of my favs by you.

  • Jennifer

Agreed. This is a case of "I take care of mine! Look!" Just do it, you dont have to make sure everyone knows. Makes it seem insenscere.

  • JENNYJONES1

WHICH AIN'T TRUE. P SAID IT AIN'T TRUE B/C HE RESPECTS TIP AND WOULDN'T DO THAT............JENNY JONES!!!!

  • Lorenzo Chaps

Agreed. Kevin means well, but you can't count the next person's money. We all think beyonce and jay-z got money for days, but what if they already are supporting 5 families??? I can't come along and assume 'u got it.' Just do you, Kev. ANd yes, I did donate a (very) little something (in comparison to the celebs).

  • Mr.LeBrickJames

I think his heart was probably in the right place. He probably just wanted to motivate his other celebrity friend to give too.
But I think the way he went about it kind of rubbed some people the wrong way.

  • Look@m3

Good because that was really troubling to process.

  • Rayne

Why the Red Cross tho? I'm hearing that money crosses so many hands before the victims even see their part. If I were able, I would go there set up shop and put it in their hands. Town by town. I don't like too many hands on my money ?.

  • Rayne

    I donated too.

  • You Could Never

Jerry Lewis, white ass cracka ass cracka comedian... who recently just managed to die, got his ass on TV, each and every damn Labor Day weekend and challenged the public and his CELEB friends to give to a cause. MDA/Muscular dystrophy. For LEGIT 50 damn years.

Yet this BLACK comedian does it for ONE cause and he is villified. He is wrong. He should stay in his lane.

If folks dont STFU. My God folks make me sick as hell.

  • Ms.Vanilla

When people try to strong arm me I shut down completely. I'm grown don't try to tell me how to spend my own money. You didn't help me make it don't try to help me spend it.

  • Ms.Vanilla

Jerry Lewis did not try to force and shame people into giving. That's the argument.

  • You Could Never

Who did Kevin shame? How did he shame them? He is 5'2. 175 pounds at the MOST. Who the hell did he try to force?

  • imright

they are all doing it for tax write offs anyway ?????

  • Ms Thang

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one that was feeling like Kevin was doing a little attention seeking. Most celebrities always donate when disasters happen. Now the idiots on social media is saying "it's a shame that Kevin had to call Beyoncé out". He's getting credit for something people were going to do anyway.

  • mzbestseller

We gonna be mad at Ariana Grande for asking celebs to help people in the Manchester bombing a few months back? ?Oh ok then.

  • Blaque Mahogany

I didn't know people were donating to the Red Cross. Smdh. There have been numerous reports about the Red Cross and their retention of donations. Like 80% goes toward "administration". Hurricane Katrina victims and the Haitian victims are still waiting on their donation money from Red Cross. This is disappointing...

  • You Could Never

What about Sean Penn and his Haiti fundraising.

    http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-harvey-engineering-20170828-story.html

Celebs asking other celebs to help wiith a cause is NOT new.

I dont even LIKE Kev. But this is stupid as hell to me.

  • Blaque Mahogany

I didn't feel like he was strong arming people (I didn't watch the actual video though), but I definitely felt like this was a PR move after the whole Mistress Rib and Ex Wife fiasco.

  • Angela Winbush

    Lay Your Troubles Down!!!! Hello!!!!

  • Latisaj

I believe any charitable donation is between you and God almighty, my right hand man who helped me get the money that others are in need of. No recommendation from your Instagram and Facebook followers will get you into heaven, so why others feel the need to put the charitable donations on display for all to see if baffling to me!

  • TheOwley

Much has been said about private versus public philanthropy. There is a psychology behind that which applies to everyone. I think some of these people do give to charity both publicly and privately. But the question is 'what are the benefits of divulging this act of contribution when the disaster is so overwhelming.' Many people felt good seeing Sean Penn work so hard in Haiti. It was gratifying yet he didn't do it for us, he did it out of pure altruism. I don't like that man but I had to extend my respect for his dedication. Like Kevin, I don't see this from celebrities. Do they contribute? Likely, but not seeing makes one wonder and maybe that's not fair. All I see is them living in well protected ivory towers living a bloated lifestyle, completed disconnected from the everyday and now this terrible big struggle.

  • Justlooknout

My prayers go out to everyone effected and their families.

I'm going to make my way out there after the water recedes to assist.

  • Ms.Vanilla

    LMAO at "Mistress Rib"

  • TheOwley

Ha. I just said the same this about Sean. He did ask for help from his brethren. The problem is that he and Kevin shouldn't have to ask but often times it comes down to that. Sandra Bullock just gave 1 million and those K people gave half a million.

  • Renee26

LMAO he too little to force anybody to do anything huh??

  • You Could Never

    Jerry Lewis too.

  • Blaque Mahogany

But why do YOU need to see what they are doing? Does it encourage you to give back? I'm not being combative or shady; I just really don't see the logic behind it. The gift/donation, in my opinion, is between the giver, God, and the receiver. Conversely, however, I do appreciate it when celebrities use their celebrity/political capital to stand up AND speak out on social issues. I think that has a bigger impact.

  • mzbestseller

Exactly!!! If u gonna be mad at one celebrity pot u better be mad at all of the other celebrity kettles.

  • JV

Would've been nice if we were told why his delivery was so upsetting.

  • Ms Thang

I know that's right. My job was doing the ice water challenge and I told them that I would give a $5 donation but their not going to dump a bucket of ice water on me. I don't give a damn who gets mad. It ain't happening.

He didnt get up there and say if your ass dont give 25k then you are a sorry ass excuse for a person. He didnt say I hope you lose fans bc you are a cheap ass. He said: This is what I AM DOING. I hope others do the same. All he said. All others in th past have said when asking for help for a cause that is near and dear to them.

Pint size sounds like ice cream. I could hear the disgust when people were talking about Dump hat. He even took a photo by himself at camp David in a red white and a white hat so no one was in the room but him so people can focus on the hat. We have a President that is pimping someone else's misfortune to make a fortune for himself. I am waiting on him to say Obama did it if someone says anything to him about it.

How about Celebs giving a day of their celebs salary to help victims instead of money for their tax writeoff??

But of course, let's do a groundbreaking idea: A donation concert!! ?It will happen in 5-4-3-2..

  • Blaque Mahogany

Ok. So I just watched the KH Challenge video. It's not always what you do, but it's how you do it. There's a difference between using your celebrity status (being a spokesperson for an organization) to solicit donations, and specifically calling people out to donate a specific amount of cash. I think the latter is the issue that Master P and similar people have. That being said, I kinda feel like that is the nature of the stupid challenges. They did the same thing for the ALS challenge. But, I get Master P's point because if you don't donate, the public's opinion of you could change.

There's definitely psychology behind it (think of the churches that make you walk up to the collection plate to give your offering, opposed to passing he plate around in the pews).

  • You Could Never

If Katrina and Sandy folks got a concert why shouldnt the Harvey folks? If it works why change it?

  • Renee26

Bingo people are always getting rubbed the wrong way about something...in this social media era we live in if they don't post it then it's assumed it never happened

  • TheOwley

You are absolutely right, but we are dealing between human beings and human nature. You appreciate when celebrities use their celebrity/political capital to stand up AND speak out on social issues, using your words here. Money is needed and they have plenty of it. The talk now is money. Are they doing the walk? We don't know but you are OK not knowing. Some would prefer to see it being done publicly considering they have a very public opinion about everything else.

  • TheOwley

And this is why some of these people may be donating privately. When done publicly they get criticized on the amount. I have already written about private vs public donations. I don't like those women but the Houston people will take it. Every little bit helps.

  • Tish

Yes this is scripture for sure!

    Matthew 6:2-4
2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

  • Noirluv45

I believe in doing things from the heart. I think celebs are caught between a rock and hard place because if they do it from the heart and don't announce it, they get slammed, but if they do it and announce it, they get accused of wanting the publicity. All I can say is that I'm happy I'm not a celeb!

  • Ms Thang

I was going to mention damage control but decided not to??

  • Zeta Phi Beta 1920

  • Wreckognize Game

I understand Master P from a personal level. We are from the same city and have seen a lot of family and friends affected by these storms. We had people down there during Katrina helping to rebuild and other people going on bus tours to the damaged areas. I was outdone when a bus rode past my cousin's house who was one of the first people back on her block. In a sense,
some of the people that are posting what they have done reminds you of that exploitation.
Thank you Kevin and All that have donated time, prayers and energy, money and other things to help.

  • Ms Thang

    Meatloaf on tv???

  • SingleGalCrazyWorld

Sometimes I wish he would just shut up . Kev is so caught up in social media validation that he's just irking...there was no reason for him to name drop anybody. Relief and aid that is given from celebrities should be at their own discretion whether they choose to be public or private is their choice...

  • Latisaj

    Profound!!

  • SingleGalCrazyWorld

Chile for real. I had a friend tell me that since I live alone and have no kids I should be able to put more money to trips with her or gifts for her kids. Now i remember why i dont rock with p.

I disagree with Master P, some people with money need a little pushing to help others because some people have money but are tight with their money, stingy, and they still have the option to say no.

  • Nancy Drew-Natural & Luv’n It!

I get what Percy is saying because I don't want anybody telling me how to spend my money. However, I think the 'spirit' in which Kevin made the challenge was coming from a good place. Also, he's certainly not the first to do this.... it's not unusual for those within the Hollywood community to 'challenge' their peers for charitable causes. Sometimes it's monetary, sometimes it's for a 'donation' of time, a performance, etc. As long as Kevin didn't go further and berate people for Not giving, I see no problem with his challenge. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/9c5524b933f3a29872256af8b9d30b4c9ec5914b980fdc0a0817cbbe688aa153.gif

Celebrities should be required to donate money. It should be mandatory . The money they earn comes straight from their fans. The same fans they brush off when they feel like it. Poor people make these so called celebrities rich. When their hustling they beg the masses to support them, so they should pay it forward.

Calling people out does not have to be passive aggressive. It can be but Kevin may have thought it was genuinely a good thing to do & wanted to name people that the personally knows that can help or are his actual friends ( at least in his mind).
Or, Kevin called the names of people are usually selfish and greedy.
I don't know any of them like that, so I cant judge it accurately.

I agree. Kevin was attention seeking and was being very soapbox-ish. Trust and believe those celebs were going to donate. Most ppl do. Satcho azz down lil Kev.

  • MsVet

I don't see anything wrong with asking other rich celebrities to donate?
If you do, you do and if you don't STFU!

  • TheOwley

I agree. And in many cases after the donation is made people criticize the amount. It's hard to sort out in the head. When Bill Gates donates 200 millions for vaccines in Africa, I don't begrudge him or demand he do more when I know he can. When Kevin donates $25K I don't begrudge him knowing he can donate more. Had Sandra Bullock sent $50K instead of a $million, it is still a lovely gesture. I'm inclined to think it gives people a sense of community knowing others have donated, period. I can't explain it. Whether it comes from the heart, or wanting kudos, etc. is of no consequence to me, just do it. I hear they will do a telethon. Once again, it give a sense of community. They will raise lots of money nationwide. We won't know who the givers will be, but it will come from the national community, and that's the point.

  • Noirluv45

Well said, Owley. I love your name!

  • Noirluv45

  • Noirluv45

Where did I say anything about strong arming anyone? That's not the point. The point is: No matter what someone gives, it's their business. That's the point. The church isn't supposed to be doing that in the first place.

  • Solstice

I agree with you wholeheartedly! It was a challenge. He called out and on his friends in the industry. Thankfully many of them answered and perhaps were indeed going to donate on their own but I think Kevin Hart's intentions were true and good natured.…I'm praying for all those affected by this. It's heartbreaking ??

No Master P sounds stoopid to me on this topic. I was just having a conversation with someone that we have enough rich people in this world to finance every natural disaster that comes....hell they already getting a break on taxes...a challenge is a GUD thing it brings awareness, etc....plus they get a tax break on charity donations...hell...it should be government mandated if you are in the 1% so much have to go to this type of thing...

P is correct on this one. Why do people have to announce the good that they do or force others to do good??? If you have a good heart and you're a kind person, you won't feel the need to seek attention for anything!!! Furthermore, P is right, it is THEIR money! You cannot force someone to donate or bash them if they don't. While I do agree that those more fortunate should give back, they don't have to if they don't want to.

I don't even have money like that, but I have been in that situation where someone tried to force me to help more than once. It is NOT my fault or anyone else's when something happens to someone and they need help. I don't feel anyone should be forced. If you're a good person and you're able to help others, fine, but if you don't want to, fine too. Hell, half of these celebs owe taxes and have loans coming out of their asses, so they need to analyze their own finances before trying to help anyone. So they can donate money but yet they can't pay off loans and other stuff they owe for??? The f*ck??? I swear even after taking finance classes, I still don't get these dumb money decisions!!!

One thing I learned: People do what they want to do and they don't do what they don't want to do! You can't force someone to give money whether they have it or not. I think it's rude to do that. A lot of wealthier people are stingy and don't tip or even donate, but that's them. Why harass someone into giving when they don't want to give??? I wouldn't want anyone doing anything for me if they don't want to. Why seek help from someone that deep down inside doesn't want to help??? Makes no sense. Just focus on help received from those that truly want to give and be grateful for any help received.

That's some authoritarian nonsense. Hope you never run for public office. No one should be required to donate their time or money, least of all people who profit off of the voluntary patronage of others. You watch Kevin Heart's movies for entertainment, not out of the kindess of your heart, or to be compensated for it later.

  • MythCalledLove

I agree too many times celebs want to look like they are doing something. First off what does Kevin Hart really know about the Red Cross I hate folks backing charities and asking the public to do the same. I am still wondering where this money goes. We hear about a tragic event and soon after you see donate to the Red Cross everywhere. The same goes for breast cancer all we hear about is one charity. If you are going to help you don't need to showboat. I admire celebs that do big things and help each other and nobody ever hears about it. Celebs can pop up for things like this but its easy writing tax deductible checks. That challenge was dumb it just like people that like to be seen the person that gets a new car and they want everyone to see them. Every hurricane, plane crash, or mass shooting, controversial event celebs jump on the band wagon. They will use the event in their new song, exploit it to no end. To whom much is given much is required it would be funny for someone to challenge him to double his money or go big challenge him to donate 1 million bet his short ass won't open his mouth again. Forgive me if I offend anyone or sound crazy but that's fine I will just be the offensive crazy chic so save your energy no need to waste it

This is why I've asked on behalf of friends, family & neighbors that they donate goods directly to the locations actually housing people.
If a mother cancer organization uses the hot pink ribbon Susan G Women will sue. They've collected millions of dollars but when asked how close they are to finding a cure they never answer with a reassuring response. many women still remain with out insurance and by now there should be free mammograms available everywhere but there aren't. The trucks still charge a fee.

You told NOT ONE LIE. You never apologize for telling the truth.

  • Nikki

Absolutely agree with him, no one should be basically bullied into giving

  • Ccynthia

I totally agree....when do the charity ends....we know that they have enough money where do it truly goes????who is benefiting from it????

My research tells me that the ARC can't say exactly how much of the money donated will actually go to the survivors of Hurricane Harvey. The money is supposedly dispersed throughout out the agency's world organizations. So people have donated upt to $50M because they think we will see this money in total but we won't.
The direct supplies food, water, shelter are the tangible supports we see people getting. We're out of gas. A lot of people will need new homes, cars, jobs, furniture, clothing etc. If they were food stamp recipients they are covered. The middle class are left to languish in hopes of FEMA supports. Small business owners are only given SBA loans even though the corporations are given federal aid i.e. banks. You see what I mean?
