Michelle carter

The Massachusetts woman who convinced her teenage boyfriend to kill himself via text messages was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison on Thursday.

Judge Leonard Muniz convicted Carter of involuntary manslaughter in June after she waived a jury trial and took her chances with a bench trial.

Muniz ordered the 20-year-old to serve 15 months of her sentence with the rest suspended followed by 5 years probation after she’s released.

The judge took into consideration that Conrad, then 18, had a history of suicide attempts in the 2 years prior to his death.

The prosecution had urged the judge to sentence Carter to 20 years in prison. But many in the legal community expressed doubts that Carter would serve more than 2 months.

Carter was convicted of encouraging then-boyfriend Conrad Roy to take his own life by locking himself in his truck and inhaling carbon monoxide in July 2014.

After the 18-year-old died, Carter texted friends boasting that she had the power to stop him but she didn’t.

She also texted a friend saying Conrad lost his nerve and got out of the truck.

Carter texted that she “told him to get back in.”

Text messages shows Carter pressuring Conrad to kill himself in the weeks leading up to his death. She promised him she would be there to “comfort” his parents and lead them to his body.

Instead — after Conrad died — she texted his sister, Camden Roy, and asked, “Hey, do you know where your brother is?”

Then she texted his mom the next day, “Oh, hey, have you heard from Conrad?”

Conrad’s aunt, Kim Bozzi, told ABC News she believes Carter “has a damaged moral core.”

“I don’t think that she helped him kill himself,” Bozzi, told ABC’s 20/20. “I think she forced him to kill himself. I think she was responsible for his death.”

It’s hard to believe she’s actually a woman. Looks like a boy. In other news, Beyonce was spotted looking delicious. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/24ef0acbc3d9860c46ee9243c226eb775374b9062a3cb85575e3e91849fa0041.png

Things like this make my blood boil!! Talk about a gross miscarriage of justice!
She probably won’t even do 15 months!
I hope her family sues! She looks like 1 of those entitled, “I do no wrong” type yt chicks. I had to ban a yt associate like that from MY life just this week.
I went out of my way to help her with $$ (and I do NOT mean $10 or $20), took her to expensive restaurants where she would order things like prime rib & top shelf liquor–even took boxes of food, & basic necessities to her home. Every time you turned around, there was another crisis in her life, I actually did things for her & her child because I felt sorry for who I THOUGHT she was.
Then, we got into a spat, bc I asked her not to speak to me in a certain tone…she basically told me to get over it. I asked her how she could talk to me like that after ALL that I’d done for her. That c*nt actually said “I never asked you to do any of that stuff!!”
    Man I was livid.
So yeah—they should’ve burned this witch uptop in the town square. Gimme some matches—I’ll do it.

  • Simone

Psychopath, narcissist, soulless? Yes, she’s all of the above. She’s not guilty of any crime. This is an emotional ruling. Law is supposed to be based on law, not emotions. In today’s society, personal responsibility does not exist and that’s dangerous. She did not kill him nor hire someone to kill him. He killed himself. It’s called suicide, not murder. She should not serve a day in prison.

They did a story on the lady here that ran over her abusive husband with the box truck and killed him. This is so sad.

“That was my husband, my best friend, my protector,” the woman said.

But last week, she needed protection from her husband. She said he attacked her for not jumping in to help him during a fight at the RaceTrac gas station at Airline Hwy and Tom Drive.
“I got hit with pictures, tables. He kicked me. He peed on me like I was nothing,” the woman said.

She said he could be verbally abusive, but this she said took by surprise. The woman said she is still trying to figure out what she did wrong.

“I cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner. I packed his lunch, clipped his toe nails. I was a good wife,”

  • Jahnée Gill Mr.Eddie Murphy

At the end of the day he chose to take his own life. How many of us in here are guilty of telling people to fluck off, eat shat and die, go jump off a bridge, go fluck themselves etc. Now Imagine if the same people those things were said to decided to follow through? A lot of us would be under the jail right now. Was the inbred wrong? Absolutely but she isn’t a murderer.

  • Jahnée Gill Mr.Eddie Murphy

Why did he choose to keep talking to her? Why didn’t any of their friends alert his parents to her toxic behavior? Why is personal responsibility no longer an option?

  • mzwhang90210

    I disagree.
I might tell some one to jump off a bridge in the heat of anger, but I’d never tell them that if they were literally standing on the edge of the bridge. Then if they started to leave the bridge, I wouldn’t tell them to go back and jump.
Not only that, but these two weren’t arguing, she didn’t tell him out of momentary, emotional anger. This was vicious, cruel coercion to some one who was already clearly unstable.

  • AJ

I respectfully disagree. Legally, an accomplice is anyone who aids, counsels or encourages a person to commit a crime. Legally, suicide is the intentional murder of a person, a crime, which was actually punished in the past. A person’s close relatives or estate would be held liable for the suicide back in the day. Now states realize it is ridiculous to go after the family for a person’s suicide. However, in this case, she knowingly and intentionally encouraged his murder, so she is an accomplice. She deserves to go to prison and think about her actions on a daily basis.

  • mzwhang90210

I just watched a video of her. OMG, he beat the crap outta her. The news video said that charges are not expected to be filed bc it was an accident.
(cut his toenails tho? NEVER in a million years…)

  • Jahnée Gill Mr.Eddie Murphy

Whether it’s said out of anger or not you don’t know that person’s state of mind in that moment. What matters is you said and if they chose to jump off that bridge you’d be guilty according to your logic. He was an emotionally unstable person , who for whatever reason decided to continue his relationship with the inbred. If he wanted to live he’d still be here. He tried to kill himself twice and he allowed the Inbred to talk him into it both times. I understand he was emotional unstable, but come on. He clearly had people around him that cared about him. Yet he chose to continue talking to the inbred Instead of cutting her off and seeking help. Why did he continue his relationship with someone that didn’t care about him or had his best interest in mind?

  • http://sandrarose.com SandraRose

“I cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner. I packed his lunch, clipped his toe nails. I was a good wife,”

She was a good wife to the wrong man.

  • Bonsai

You absolutely right, she sure does look like an inbred.

  • Jahnée Gill Mr.Eddie Murphy

How can you help someone that doesn’t want help? He chose to keep talking to her because she fed his self loathing mentally unstable mind. If he wanted to live he would’ve cut her off and sought help from the people in his life that actually cared about him. He wanted to die that’s the most obvious thing here. She’s dead wrong for how she spoke to him and for taking advantage of his emotional wellbeing, but HE decided to take his own life. There’s a 50/50 chance he would’ve killed himself anyway, all she did was move it along faster.

Narcissists think people are on earth to serve them. They are cunning and crafty. They know the right thing to say to manipulate you into buying them things.

  • mzwhang90210

    I can see your point.
I’m only making an alternate point which is, the young man was clearly vulnerable to suggestion and irrational. You yourself call him unstable above, then in the same sentence you say “for whatever reason.” The “whatever reason” is that he was unstable! Only an unstable person would continue to depend upon a toxic, self centered individual for emotional support. That’s the nature of mental illness. Every question that you ask about why did he do A, B or C can be answered by the fact that he was undoubtedly severely depressed and dangerously emotionally needy.
If your BFF says “Girl, I just found out my man was cheating, I feel like going up to his job and blowing his brains out!” And you say “Do it, do it!!” are you not a least a tiny bit culpable?

That’s typical of a narcissist to prey on a victim’s weakness for her own sick amusement.

  • Jahnée Gill Mr.Eddie Murphy

I hear you. It still boils down to him ignoring the positive people in his life only to keep going back to the most negative, because she told him what he wanted to hear. I honestly feel with or with out her he would’ve killed himself. Why didn’t his parents get him the help he needed? It’s obvious he had issues . Yeah my girlfriends coaxed me into doing some dumb shit, but at the end of the day I’m responsible for my own actions. I’m responsible for myself. I can’t blame them if I choose to take their dumb advice and get my self in trouble. I’m sorry judge I robbed the bank because my friend ashley told me too. Sorry judge I shot tyrone because my friend told me to shoot his cheating ass. I’m getting locked up not my friend.

  • Jahnée Gill Mr.Eddie Murphy

True. A lot of Kids now a days are weak and coddled to death. They’re very fragile and unstable. Their parents are doing them a disservice .

  • mzwhang90210

I agree, I totally think she manipulated him during the relationship by telling him what he wanted/needed to hear and convincing him she had his best interest at heart.
And I’m glad that we were both able to disagree–respectfully state our arguments for our opinions–and still remain civil!
