Emanuel Samson

Samson was born in Khartoum, Sudan on November 11, 1991. He was 5 when he and his mother immigrated to the United States in 1996.

Samson grew up to be a handsome charmer who made friends quickly. One of his Facebook friends, Jessica Paige, expressed disbelief that he was the shooter.

“I can’t believe this shit! Your not that type of man. What came over you?! All we can do is pray,” she wrote in a post on Sunday.

Samson graduated from Smyrna High School and was studying psychology at Mott Community College.

The physically imposing student was a bodybuilding enthusiast with an eye toward entering competitions.

He posted dozens of beefcake shots of himself on Facebook.com.

But his Facebook posts also revealed his growing obsession with black power radicalism and social justice activism.

In the hours before the shooting, he wrote: “Everything you’ve ever doubted or made to be believe as false, is real. & vice versa, B.”

“Become the creator instead of what’s created. Whatever you say, goes.”

And, “You are more than what they told us.”
