Lil Wayne‘s fans feared for his life after the 34-year-old rap superstar was hospitalized in Chicago after reportedly suffering seizures on September 3.

According to gossip blog TMZ, Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., was found unconscious in his hotel room at the Chicago Westin at 909 N. Michigan Avenue on Sunday.

Wayne, pictured above with Reginae at her 18th birthday party in Atlanta last year, was scheduled to perform in concert at Drais Beachclub in Las Vegas, NV on Sunday. That concert was cancelled after he was hospitalized.

To prove she wasn’t worried about her father, Reginae posted Instagram.com photos of herself smiling next to a Mercedes Benz SUV Wayne gifted her for her birthday last November.

Wayne has a history of epileptic seizures, likely related to his heavy dependency on prescription cough syrup (promethazine and codeine) mixed with grape soda called “lean”, “Purple Drank” and “Sizzurp”.

Wayne reportedly quit drinking prescription cough medicine after suffering multiple seizures on board a private jet in 2016. He also spent 6 days in the ICU after suffering seizures in 2013.

Legendary Texas rapper Chad Lamont Butler, aka Pimp C, died from an overdose of lean in 2007.

Stress, lack of sleep, alcohol, and poor nutrition are some of the factors that can trigger an epileptic seizure even when a patient is taking his anti-seizure medications as prescribed.

All of Wayne’s reported seizure activity have occurred while he was on tour over the years.
