Carlos Correa

The Houston Astros defeated the L.A. Dodgers to win their first ever World Series title on Wednesday in Los Angeles. But one player stole the team’s thunder by proposing to his girlfriend on live TV.

Astros’ shortstop Carlos Correa, 23, surprised millions of TV viewers by interrupting an interview with Fox Sports to propose to his girlfriend, Daniella Rodriguez, a former Miss Texas USA.

“It’s one of the biggest accomplishments of my life, and right now I’m about to take another big step in my life,” Correa said. Then he turned to face his 22-year-old girlfriend, pulled the ring out of his back pocket and said, “Daniella Rodriguez, you make me the happiest man in the world.” He dramatically dropped to one knee and asked, “Will you marry me?”

Of course she accepted. Who wouldn’t accept a proposal from a member of the newly crowned World Series champions?
