Ciara Wilson

Ciara Wilson is one of the many sistas taking back their beauty and taking pride in their natural hair.

Thanks to inspiration from famed IG photographer Suliman Facet Hasan, black women are walking into 2018 wearing their natural crowns of glory.

In a series of posts on Instagram.com, Facet urged black women to take back their beauty and wear their own hair.

Ciara surprised her 17 million Instagram.com followers by posting a rare photo of her natural hair.

The retired studio singer joins the growing list of celebrities who reject weaves and extensions in favor of their own healthy, natural hair.

CiCi captioned the pic: "Retro vibes. This #Hair was fun".

Ciara's followers were abundant in their praise for her new look. They compared her to a young Whitney Houston and Tina Turner.

What do you think of Ciara's natural hair?

  • Anika Kelly

    Issa wig sis

  • Tammie Reed

NOONE hair is that full maybe some but I doubt thats all her hair but its a cute look on her lol. Ages her quite a bit though.

  • http://sandrarose.com SandraRose

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Tammie! ?

  • http://sandrarose.com SandraRose

As a natural hair woman myself, I think I know real hair when I see it.

  • Tammie Reed

    Hey boo, same to you!

  • RaginB

    That ain’t her hair?

  • RaginB

Who would call their own hair “this hair”?

  • Blaque Mahogany

It looks like a wig. Like the kind that you get for 20$.

I saw the photographers post on one of IG bloggers page but I didn't (and still dont) know who he is.

  • Noirluv45

Everyone wants to govern Black women's hair. No one tells bottled blondes to "go natural." Even though I love the natural hair movement, I believe in free will.

  • justlooking

What in the Jennifer BealsBelea/Flashdance thinks that 's her hair.

    Lace/Wig/Wave

    Merry Christmas

  • Owww76

Looka Like A man with that hair, strong brows too. Not a good look CiManRa

  • Rayne

How thick are they gonna keep drawing those eyebrows? That’s a nice wig tho.

  • cherrypie

I've never been one to wear weaves or wigs. It just wasn't my thing. I do like braids tho as a protective style especially in the summer. However, I've recently decided to go natural after having a relaxer since the age of 12. Im now 42. That's 30 years of relaxers. Im done with the creamy crack. I'm now excited and curious to see my hair in its natural state. I've watched a ton of Youtube videos and would like to embrace what God has given me.

  • InsecureNEVA

    Ciara is NOT her hair.....literally.

  • shun king

oh wow i saw another known photographer that is offering a discount for women with lace fronts

  • AnotherBlackGirl

I have very thick and long hair. But I don't think that's her hair. It looks like she is wearing a Vivica Fox wig.

  • James Hudson

I like Ciara's natural hair, brings out her face, Good look CiCi

  • Bonsai

Who are you kidding. Exactly what is natural hair? Once that hair gets coarser, she’ll be right back to the creamy white crack.

  • Stan4NoOne

Ummm... that's clearly a wig and she's acknowledging it too.

  • Seek Truth Speak Truth

IMO, the obsession with hair is a major downfall for the black community.

  • Whiplash(lacejagger)

Beautiful woman. Makeup is flawless... BUT that's not her "natural" hair. It maybe hers, because she bought it, and can furnish a receipt as proof of purchase.

  • KeepItG

Get off women heads!!! Geez we deal with enough I don’t care to understand why mofos give soooo much care about what is on somebody else’s head!!! I do not care about another woman rocking a wig or her hair! That’s their buisness!! The natural way doesn’t make you better nor unnatural!!! You being you is what makes the difference. Confidence is doing what you want not what somebody else thinks is the right way....all women don’t have a head full of hair thick nice whatever!!! And they don’t have to explain to anybody why they choose to wear wigs or weaves...dumb!! They’re not going to walk around looking like Bert and Ernie for u!! It’s bigger issues in this world to discuss!! Hair issues maintenance time etc plays a huge part in that...it’s like it’s 2018 get over it!! If u like natural chicks good for u!!! That doesn’t make one any better then the next! A man will never understand the layers of a woman’s beauty and all they put into it!

  • 88

Good job take notes blk women quit wearing other ppls hair on your head.

  • my view

its a wig and you have a fade so you wouldn't know

  • SpillyNillie

Uhhhhh I don't this is her REAL hair. You know, what grows from the scalp. It's cute tho!

  • TMW

I did the big chop in June. And cut it even more recently. I go to the barber now LOL. What used to cost me $55-100, now costs me $20. I love it. Just be patient. Even though I cut my hair in June, I just found a style that I like and that works for me. And the right product is everything! Good luck!

  • You Could Never

I'm over this. Natural doesn't make you better or worse. Hair doesn't either. I'm natural and threaten to go back to relaxing often. It's convenience. Time. Money. A lot of reasons. But they are mine to have. Also will insert a lot of folks I know can't grow hair. They have some. But it's mad folks out here with medical issues/med that impact growth. Stop looking down at these ladies. The whole thing takes us back about 30 years. 1987 School Daze era. Good hair vs. Bad hair era. It's tired now

  • shun king

well it seem the white supremacist governs the hair of black women thats why they wear it to look like white women

  • You Could Never

You are one of the hair ignorant folks.

  • imright

    this is a wig

  • Hater

Now ya'll know this a wig, Cierror stay wearing wigs!

  • hottlanta

    Her lips are FAB!!!

  • cherrypie

Thanks!! Yeah, that's what Im looking forward to not spending as much getting my hair done every week. I'm not doing the big chop tho. I'm going to cut it off gradually and eventually just get all the relaxed ends cut off. I understand it takes a great deal of patience and everyone I tell says the same thing. "Are you sure"???? They say it's frustrating and takes ALOT of time but I think I'm ready for it.

  • BeUtFullSoul

lOOks like a Wig...but either way, WHATEVER makes HER happy, real or otherwise...#doYOU!

  • Seek Truth Speak Truth

In some tribes, everyone is shaven bald and in some religions, the hair must be covered at all times.

  • JRock

Looks like a hot mess. No, I take that back. It looks like a hot mess wig.

  • TMW

Can’t lie - it was the scariest thing I’ve ever done in my life, and I kept second guessing it until I finally got it cut the way I wanted at the barber a couple of weeks ago.

  • cherrypie

I dont know if its a wig or not and it really doesnt matter but it's cute as hell.

  • Mischelle

Perms definitely aren’t healthy. Either way you choose to rock your hair, rock it, but I can’t get behind a chemical that can literally burn holes in your scalp if left on too long.

  • starbright9449

    Speak for yourself.

  • starbright9449

    https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/03a96bb3c2e589d542ed9ce0af904f814224b8be55db32a7e87bf4ad4ae7eb0c.jpg.

I've seen natural hair of all shapes and curls. Idk why women always have to hate on other womens hair. This is getting old, its almost 2018!!

  • Seek Truth Speak Truth

Perms have been linked to fibroids and miscarriages.

  • Darkandlovely617?

    ??

What do you suggest for the single dad with 2 girls whom have super thick curly hair that will literally matt within 2 days?

  • MsVAllDay

This is not her natural hair.

  • Blaque Mahogany

Who is this person? You? I like her hair.

  • Darkandlovely617?

    ??

So do drugs and alcohol. Feel pjs are going to do what works for them

    ?????

  • Seek Truth Speak Truth

Wash and deep condition weekly and keep in braided or twisted styles (with their own hair only). Make sure they tie their hair down with a satin scarf nightly to prevent matting and frizzing.

  • cherrypie

So do you have like a fade? Has it grown alot since June? I see alot of women are starting to go natural. I would do the big chop but I dont think my head is shaped right for a really low cut. I cant wait until I can see my natural curl pattern tho. They also so say its quite expensive just taking care of natural hair with all the products you have to use. I'm ok with that tho. I just think its healthier as I get older to let go of the chemical relaxers.

  • Seek Truth Speak Truth

I am simply pointing that out bc many do not know that. What people do to their bodies is on them but I do believe that people have the right to be informed.

  • You Could Never

I have fine soft hair. I liken it to cotton candy. I can never perm more than 5 minutes with mild anyways. Something drastic is happening to it in 2018 tho. I canna any longer. Ive tried it all ways at this point. Braids. Weaves. Relaxed. Natural. All the natural styles. Im relaxing and moving on. Time is a factor in my struggle.

  • Darkandlovely617?

That's done. However, due to the ease of chemical manipulation, time is not spent on hair, which enables folks to do things which they determine as productive for them

  • Mischelle

I can’t disagree with this. My sister and I both sufferered from fibroids and infertility while our permless mother didn’t. No family history of fibroids, either. My body is JUST now getting right, nearly 9 years from my last perm.

  • cherrypie

I think there is a misconception that black women can not have long hair. That is so untrue. Our hair grows like everyone else's. It's all about how we take care it and laying off of the heat.

  • Scorpio

This gives her a New York Latina vibe. Rosie Perez. Spanish Harlem. Looks Good.

  • Kanyade

i have “big chopped” many times. I’m not a part of the natural hair movement anymore; i’m a part of the “do what i want with my hair” movement. lol

i agree your point on bottle blondes.

  • You Could Never

Hence why I said some of the naturals be so judge-y

  • Scorpio

I actually agree with you on this. Our community is way too hung up on hair, it is oppressive.

  • Darkandlovely617?

I'm more concerned with the food which is being sold to us in grocery stores than, someone relaxing their head.

If we're going to say we want to educate and be informative, we should be; but this pettty Annie, itty bitty titty committee bullshit of chemicals vs natural just ain't it.

  • Scorpio

    LMAO!!

  • TMW

Yeah, I have a “taper,” which is essentially a high top fade LOL! My hair grows out so fast now, I get it cut often. If I didn’t cut it, I’d have some decent length. I just like it shorter. I was shocked at how much the barber took off when I went back after just two weeks to get it shaped up.

When I was getting it relaxed (and then I went to the Kerotin treatments), my hair was thin and would not grow, even taking hair vitamins. Those chemicals - even the kerotin - really messed up my hair.

My natural curl pattern is really tight and spirally. My curls are more defined since when I started in June, but I’ve gone through a few products to get here.

  • Seek Truth Speak Truth

Information is key to everything. Just bc I mentioned something against chemical processing doesn't mean that I am taking sides. I think you need to get out your feelings a bit, you might learn something. And if you have information, please share as it may educate others. I do agree, food, alcohol and drugs are dangerous for one's health too but that isn't the topic of discussion.

  • You Could Never

I went back and read some of the history on Madam CJ Walker years ago to help my oldest with a paper (she 23 now so long ago) and its always been like this. Its so sad. We need some building supplies to help us build a bridge to get over it.

  • Tlowe89

    That's a wig

  • Mischelle

Like I said, wear your hair in weaves, wigs, lace fronts, extensions...wtf ever you wanna do. But I cannot stand behind a chemical like perm seeping through my skin. I’m the same way with food. I’m conscious of whatever I ingest

  • Seek Truth Speak Truth

I wish we would let it go. It's protein. Nothing more, nothing less.

  • Noirluv45

Yes. That's the movement I'm apart of too. ??

  • Seek Truth Speak Truth

Praying for your healing sis. Thank you for sharing. Have a blessed day.

  • Tlowe89

I think she does have long hair. Probably hates fooling with it. Sometimes our hair don't behave as easily as a wig or weave does. However I know extensions when I see it. And those gorg curls are just that. She just switched it up on us, bcus it's not blonde or straight.

  • TMW

And yes, products are expensive when you’re trying to figure out what works for your hair. But other than that, I haven’t had to buy anything that was outrageously priced.

  • Mischelle

Thank you ??. You do the same.

  • Desi

    I concur.

  • HIS4EVA

there is no hate and that is not her hair. cmon now! its cute though....

  • https://www.instagram.com/nymagee/ Ny MaGee

real or wig... looks good either way.

  • Dahl

    I thought the same.....

  • Chocolategyrl

    Cute wig...

  • Chocolategyrl

I'll wear what I want thanks

  • Shira Harding-James

Not her natural hair Sandra hence....”this hair was fun”

  • TMW

Sounds like my hair. Cannot not hold a press, when I was relaxing I had to use Just for Me mild - yes the kiddy perm. I tried the Brazilian blowout - it was good, but that started to burn too. And it was $350!!!

  • ZRoJoTheLezBeyond

She's giving off Tina Turner vibes, cute! I've always liked seeing her with brown hair instead of the blonde all the time.

  • cherrypie

See that's what I heard that your grows even faster in it's natural state. My hair is like yours in that with a relaxer it grew just not that much even with biotin and collegen pills. Plus my hair is really dry. I understand I wont be able to see my natural curl pattern until all my relaxed ends are cut off. I just want it to be at a length to do a cute braid out or throw some flexi roads up in there. Either way I'm going to embrace it.

  • cherrypie

Yeah I'm going to sign up for Amazon prime. Dont really patronize the Asian shops. They are too high in my area. I already got a little list going so I can just order at will.

  • TMW

Yes to Prime because you can find a lot of stuff there (from the YouTube videos) that are not in the local stores. And a lot of the natural hair channels have discount codes for products.

  • PlayerP

Cute look tho....she just shared a pic of her real hair a week or two ago.

  • millz

That wig is as real as beyonces long ponytail an new edges...

  • rachel

Why do people question the authenticity of long hair on black women? My niece - my sister's daughter with her black husband (my siblings and I are mixed) - has beautiful long thick kinky hair that reaches midway down her back and it's ALL naturally hers - 100%.

Again, why do folks think that all black women naturally have short hair that can't grow long?

  • Mystique

My goodness, with all the issues going on in this world, people want to focus on hair. No one has told people to stop with fake:butts, lips, tans, breasts, etc. if we are going to call people out on fake hair then we need up do it completely. Selective outrage is ridiculous!
Why is no one calling out White women with their butt injections and lip injections?
But quick to call out Black women hair?
I think the 5 layers of makeup and redoing your face is far worse than hair.

  • Mystique

This black man wants to shame and embarrass black women because of hair? Maybe black women need to shame black men and call them out on their bullshit! If black women stop perming their hair, will this keep them home supporting their families, encourage more marriages, finishing high school, stop thinking that all they have to offer is black penis to the world. Tired of hypocrisy!

  • Wig

    That’s a wig too.

  • EMILY POST

Take back you beauty and wear your hair...... SMH...
Black women are not their hair.. I agree but he is reducing his art down to a hair style... He could have easily of just used natural hair as a subject and moved on. I said on another blog I wouldnt want to have a photographer like him.
I feel bad for black women in film and fashion and Entertainment because it is too heavily male dominated.

  • C Mack

A man telling women what to embrace. Stupid

  • Fred G sanford

    That’s a damm wig

  • EMILY POST

The moment you put a relaxer in your hair poof you are automatically a bad person?? LOL I dont get this guys point.

  • Kayke

Because you're missing it. He's a photographer that doesn't want to shoot lace fronts.... That's his professional choice. It's not in regards to every woman's head or even everyday life. To me he's thinning the herd of women who audition to more of what he's looking to shoot.

  • KLo

F*** BBANs. Beauty is BANs with a paycheck #GTFOH

  • Fire & Ice

Aunty knows that a wig...so sarcastic ???. Love Ciara, no matter what her hair looks like.

  • nomika brown

    Ok agreed

  • Lanegra??

A long standing stereotype. The same as people assuming because people wear extensions they can't grow hair. such a shame.

  • Lanegra??

LOL i thought it was a wig but I then felt bad for saying that because people always assume my hair is a wig.

  • Shira Harding-James

    Yes I love it

  • Fire & Ice

    ???

  • BeUtFullSoul

    Got It NOW!!!!! ...alright FLASHDANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ?Patty Kakes?

    Good for you Ci-Ci

  • AG

But he “shot” a woman eating a banana

  • A D N

Some women have taken the lace fronts, wigs and extensions tooooooo dang far. It was intended to be a natural transition to what you already had on your head. To add 3 bundles of long straight weave on top of a head of a person who has kinky coarse hair texture looks unnatural. It doesn't match your features. It's equivalent to looking at a white/asian woman with an afro...again...ridiculous because it looks...unnatural. In other words, choose a natural extension look according to what your natural state of hair looks like. Stop choosing what is on other people's heads or faces as a source of beauty. You are beautiful and own the beauty you were blessed with.

  • Mama Dee’s Wig Maker

    I thought it was wig

  • isis Osiris

this hair was fun, it's obviously a wig. Ciara and Beyonce both have gorgeous natural locks

  • hottlanta

Now when black women start demanding that black men show us how real they are by making more money so we can get with them we will be called gold diggers. Just like he don't want a woman with fake hair, I got a right to not want to be with a man with fake money.

  • den

Oh please, sure it's her hair she paid for it.just like when Beyonce mom posted the picture with the damn weave talking about it's beyonce hair ....yeah and I have a bridge to sell you...hey you can even see her house from on top of it

  • TawnyDelux

i want to see the baby...i almost forgot she had a baby

  • Ant Hill

no bia, you just a lazy nappy head h*, what Black men got to do with your horse hair from the korean store? smh

  • C Mack

I ain't tryna save nobody lol. That's just annoying lol. If it's not on your head why does it matter!

  • Anonymouse

Why do men feel the need to tell women how to wear their hair? Is he going to help them take care of it too? smh....

  • MRiGOThim

May not be extensions but it #ISSAWIG

  • Allihave2say

Go to bed! NOOO more commenting for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Allihave2say

What's the deal on that? I got a Starbucks coffee for anyone with a verifiable pic! LOL

  • Allihave2say

Ms. Tina was real wrong for that blatant lie. Beyonce's hair care regimen is so weak even the weave had split ends.

  • DeeFromLA

Lookin very wiggy to me, can't be her hair

  • http://www.beautyisland.weebly.com Indigo

    Haha.. Yes rock your crown!

    Girl bye... Just do YOU!!

  • MistaO

    Wow!

  • Smith Jane

    Few things...
relaxers are not natural, nor are they protein...
the aesthetic of “straight” wigs/weaves/relaxed hair is meant (whether conscious or subconscious) to mimic those of our oppressors. For centuries we were mocked for our features. There is no “choice” when it comes to how we style our hair, we were shamed/beaten/oppressed into making these hair “choices”. For centuries we’ve been passing down a self-hating hair regimen to our girls. Almost a rite of passage to obtaining that Long desired soft silky long hair. Therefore when our women are faced with the reality of “dealing” with their own natural tresses it’s like trying to rehab a crack addict. And yes these affects will defend that creamy crack or it’s sisters the lace wig.

  • Meme

where does she say its her hair? oh ms Sandra you at it again

  • sunni_daze

I like that wig she's wearing.

  • Queen B

    It's clearly a wig

  • Amy

I wish a woman could just wear her own hair if she wants to or not. I understand there is some photographer who is boycotting photographing women with lace fronts but the best advice in life is to never make such blanket statements. It shows ignorance and lack of deep thought. Did he ever stop to consider how a lace front wig may boost a woman's self esteem for example a woman who lost her hair because of chemotherapy? What about a woman with alopecia? Or a woman who is genetically disposed to thinning hair.

  • Ant Hill

Becky's got that good brains is why I guess.

  • Ant Hill

Or bust terrorizing Black males or raising gay sons* #fixed

  • Ant Hill

Hold up, so what race of women wears the most fake hair? It's not Black women? And then got the nerve to be getting weaves and wigs in all colors of the rainbow looking like some damn circus clowns smh.

  • Ant Hill

It don't matter, but it's you and these angry birds making a big deal out of it because they man said he is not taking any more pics of wig wearing women.

  • ShWa

    It's cute.

  • ShWa

Absolutely and who is he to tell someone what to wear on their head??

  • Guess Who

That is an obvious wig. STOP PLAYING

  • ShWa

    This is true!

  • facingrealit1

Has anyone seen Ciara's baby girl yet? Wonder why she is keeping her out of sight while little Future is all over the place.

  • smartchickfl

People worrying about what other people put on THEIR heads or do to their OWN faces is laughable. The biggest critics are usually the ones that have absolutely no right. Worry about yourself folks. My hair is natural and I wear it both curly and straight. I will also rock a sewin in a hot minute whenever I feel like it. Unless they will be paying my bills and saving my soul, the critics can kiss my black @$$.

  • C Mack

    Going in today!

  • Malcom Flex

I don't need a down low troll to correct anything I write.

  • Malcom Flex
