Miss Rica hair

In response to the Caucasian woman who said black women who wear lace fronts are "insecure," loyal reader Marica sent in these images to show that black women do have long, healthy, natural tresses. See what Marica has to say after the break.

Marica writes:

Just wanted to respond to the lady that stated Black women should wear they own hair. This is my real hair no perm or extensions. Although I do highlight my hair

Marica's lying. J/k...I felt like being petty.

Again, not sure why we are explaining things to these saltines.

  • SumthinSweeter

nothing new at all so why even give the demon attention? they always have something to say about us.

  • sunni_daze

When we owe them not nay explanation.

  • MocaPretty

Yea bc white women dont wear weave...GTFOH

  • Wreckognize Game

Marica, your hair is beautiful lady!??

  • Jen_no_juice

He just wants attention..... every race of woman wears weaves. It's convenient. Besides if you're not coming to help wash detangle and twist my hair stfu

  • Blaque Mahogany

Lol. I felt that last sentence in my spirit.

  • 100milesperhour

Why bother? Makes you look silly trying to prove something to an irrelevant yt woman w/too much time on her hands.

  • SpillyNillie

Relaxed hair is real hair...people kill me. My hair is relaxed, colored, and half the length of hers and I'm growing it out to the length of hers. I just don't get why people feel like they have to choose a side when it comes to hair. Yours, theirs, ours....just wear your hair the way you want to!

  • Soda

    So?

  • Ang

Who cares? Stop trying to prove things to people who don't matter.

  • hottlanta

Oh my bad. I thought it was the photo that Tina posted with Beyoncé running her fingers through her hair to prove to us that is her real hair all the way down to her butt. Stop with the hair madness. All black women don't want long hair, we just want our hair to be fly.

  • IamAllnatural

    Okay, beautiful hair!?????

  • MookieFly

Exactly. Where's the weaveologist in this post who can decipher if it's natural or a head cape because I'm still not sure ?

  • Noirluv45

There's no need to justify what we do.

  • Sid

Only a ho azz nikka would worry about if a woman wears weave or not. My hair Is bra length and sometimes I like to switch it up. My baby can care less if I wig out as long as it looks nice.

  • R Smith

    Exactly!

  • Look@m3

THANK YOU. They all wear them so I don't get this fascination with what one specific race of women do. Jesus Christ its darn near creepy!

yall don't gotta answer to nobody.. the most protected group in America..

  • Cassandra Spencer

Hair trends change and they may include lace fronts and weave extensions. As black women we are known for being versatile. You must know a black women's struggle before you start judging, she may have been plagued with cancer, alopecia, lupus etc. However most white women will go brown in a oven(Tan) to create a façade that they must upkeep or else they pasty pale skin will appear and this is voluntary. White women are known for getting face lifts and botox treatments to correct the laugh lines, crows feet and facial pleats that start to appear as early as 35y/o. Remember white women age a whole lot faster than us melanin popping beauties. Please don't come for us BAPS(Black American Princesses.)

  • RoyalLuv?

Black women...please let all of this show you that, WE ARE SOME GREAT AND SEXY BEINGS WALKING THIS EARTH. When you have outside individuals trying to pump fictional facts about how you look/feel about yourself should tell you that we are something special and QUEENS...NO NEED FOR NOBODY TO TELL YOU DIFFERENT!
The day you allow someone other than yourself tell you how you feel and how to look at yourself, is the day you lose yourself. This is the problem with the world today....we let people opinions on how we should view and feel about ourselves hold weight in the decisions we make for our lives.
Mountain Woman, we know we the Shyt! The insecure comment to me shows the insecurities you have if need to tell another race of women that they are insecure. Wants us to feel bad about ourselves so it can make you feel good about yourself #TUH
by the way....its not about the hair, its about the brain power!

What does mixed chick black fan girl's long hair have to do with some broad having the opinion that black women wearing lace front wigs are insecure?
I'm mixed too with long ass hair ... daddy is 100% nigga and I don't know wtf my momma is... well, I do but, she isn't black or white. I stay out of the hair conversations because outside of doing my black daughter's hair however the "ff*kk" I want to, I don't dare to assume I know the plight of any other women when it comes to why they wear wigs, fake hair or fronts of any kind. Try again fan girl; you missed the mark on this one. Apples and Oranges.

  • Whiplash(lacejagger)

Why is this such a big deal? I have long thick hair, and so do a lot other ethnic women!!! And there are a lot of thin hair white women...who cares? Why is this a debate?

  • dontgetblocked

Why are we always trying to prove that we have long hair? The average black woman's hair does not grow down our backs unless there is a race mixture down the line. Look at women in Africa. They have nappy short hair. That is our lineage. Why is it a bad thing? If you have hair like the lady pictured above then it's due to some other race other than African. Black women with short nappy hair are the real African Queens!

  • MsPam

I was talking about posting a picture of my hair!?

  • MsPam

    Stop telling that lie!

  • Dainese

I hate the lace front trend.
I hate that this woman felt the need to prove that she had long hair.
Most people are going to think it's a weave anyway, because of the trend.

    But really.. WEKNOWTHATWEHAVELONGHAIR.
White lady had an opinion, about something she knows little about, what else is new.

I don't agree with the insecurity part, but I do agree with the embrace your natural beauty.

  • minkyfinky

Thank you. Coming from a retired hair stylist. I had growing hands. I used to have customers with their OWN hair down their back.

Black women with long hair in general look better than white women with long hair. They know it and that's why you see them hating so much and trying to emulate other features of black women in a lame attempt to try to catch up.

  • PlayerP

Wow...there are several countries in Africa that debunk your opinion. I know plenty of mumblas that can't grow their hair either. "Race" nor hair texture have much to do with hair length.

Right. I cut my hair A LOT AND OFTEN!. When I was pregnant with my son, I let my hair grow halfway out and it was growing down my back. Even rolled with the smallest rollers, my hair was still past my shoulders.

People really need to stop thinking black women hair don't grow long.

    And yes I'm black.

  • Y’all Jealous Cuz I’m Prudy

I agree! I'm not sure why black women don't see all black hair that's well groomed as "good hair." The only black bad hair is damaged hair.

But some women do get it because they pay to have their hair styled like this, even if it's a little longer.

Aside from her hair, her complexion is even and beautiful.

  • NeverSurprised

To all of the beautiful young black women reading this blog:

Imagine if you took all of the time and energy you spend worrying about getting the best HAIR, and instead applied that SAME AMOUNT OF ENERGY into getting the BEST GRADES, or getting into an IVY LEAGUE COLLEGE, or getting a FULL SCHOLARSHIP, or getting into a TOP 10 LAW SCHOOL ( as I did), or a top 10 med school, or Harvard Business School.

I don"t remember any of the black women at my law school obsessing over who had the longest, straightest hair. We were too busy competing with the jewish and asian students over who would get the best grades, and the best job offers.

It is the 21st century and black women are still talking about long, straight hair. In other words, who has hair that best. approximates WHITE hair. Please stop. Please stop focusing on things that will have NO IMPACT on the quality of your lives, and start focusing on the things that WILL.

Imagine if they took the time and energy they spend worrying about your HAIR and instead applied that SAME AMOUT OF ENERGY into getting the BEST GRADES, or even MARRYING EACH OTHER AND RAISING HEALTHY FAMILIES.

I don't remember any wealthy non-black male business owners in my city obsessing on the hair of the women of their culture and race. They're too busy competing and making money off of self hating black people.

It is the 21st century and black people are still talking about BW's hair instead of facing reality. In other words, focus on providing for and educating your kids. Please stop deflecting on BW's hair.

  • Allihave2say

These women suffer traction alopecia because they glue tracks on their scalps instead of braiding their hair and sewing weave with a moderate, not tight stitch. We have to do more protective styling but there are many of us who have long hair under protective styles.

A woman's hair is her glory - Bible. Black women in America had to keep their hair in scarves, and their hair broke off because they labored in the sun all day. The sun sucked out the moisture. They were cut off from ancestral knowledge that would teach them how to care for their hair. There's a tribe in Africa the Ceba (I think) where the African women have waist length hair. So many of use don't know how to care for our hair and have been lied to for generations. We've kept up the custom of binding our daughters' hair while lil white girls wear their hair down to school. The standard of beauty was straight long hair, around the world but especially for black slaves. So many are still, and stealing to afford the "look".

That said they have some marvelous women on youtube ulovemegz, dyamond mine, hairlicious and more who teach women how to use their weaves and wigs to the benefit of their hair, grown long healthy hair and maintain it. No more excuses.

Who is we! None of my family or friends have broken hair or bald hairlines. Nobody at my salon either. My hair is so thick and full. All natural and I only have to cowash and deep condition. Don’t have to wear a bonnet. I wear wigs and weave whenever I feel like it!

I think that’s her real hair. There are many black women with hair just like her. That’s probably a silk press. Too bad you don’t know that. I feel bad Marica that Marica felt the need to explain herself because ignorant people will still say she’s wearing a weave. Lose lose.

  • Ary Ary

Not saying you can't get Afro-textured hair can't get that length, but the give away is that hair attached to your scalp looks more vibrant. This hair is clearly a long time separated from being attached to a scalp. Weave just doesn't look as full of life as hair growing out of a scalp.

  • Ary Ary

It's not. How it's your hair but you don't know the diff between full bleach and highlights??? And who bleaches all their only to leave the ends dark? Any woman(no matter the race) with very dark hair knows how risky bleaching is, so why go through the process to stop before you get to the ends??? She don't even know the diff between highlight and two toninh6, but it's her hair??? Chile...
    .those are pre bleached bundles.

  • Faux Gibbler

    That's not her hair.
Edited to add: it is her hair- she purchased it but not her natural hair.
By the way, white women wear extensions and wigs too. It's not just about but eating vegetables to grow hair but I digress.

Been there done that and don't wanna go back. If I knew how to put it on here I will put it on here to freak yall out. All black women don't want long hair.

  • Mystique

I have not had a perm in 3 years. My man loves running his hands through my natural hair while loving me. No shade to any women wearing weaves, wigs, etc. I occasionally will switch up my style with a wig.

  • Seek Truth Speak Truth

I have been bald, short, medium and long- all my hair. My fav is the short do. So easy to keep up with. I probably will go back to that as get finer with time (age). Black hair is versatile. I don’t discriminate with those who wear wigs and weaves occasionally, I like to switch it up too last minute sometimes but Indont like when some women make it seem like black hair in general isn’t versatile. I always get more compliments on my natural hair than when I slap on a wig/weave. And white folks adore it! It’s black people who have an issue with their own hair.

Why do people constantly need validation??? It must be mental illness or human stupidity. No one cares about your hair, or your waistline, or your butt, or your boobies. These women (and petty men) need to get a real life and find something meaningful to do. Good grief! However you wear your hair or however you choose to look is YOUR business. Social media needs to die ASAP, glad I don't use it!

  • hottlanta

I am sick of the argument that natural hair is something new when you got women like Dr. Eleanor Holmes Norton who has been sporting it for years. I got friends who has been wearing natural hair for years. Imma take it a step further. It is a called a AFRO. They just called it natural hair for political reasons to make it non-threatening to people and to charge them a arm and leg for those high priced so called natural hair care products.

  • mona q

That is a broad statement to make and totally untrue. Once black women learn and pay attention to how to properly take care of the hair on their own head (instead of copying what works for some other person), it grows as long as you want it to. Removing these old techniques of smothering the hair with grease which actually BLOCKS moisture. There are plenty of women on YouTube with LONG hair that have no "race mixture" down the line. It's all about figuring out how to RETAIN length. Once you figure that out, your hair grows no matter how kinky, curly, wavy...these are only a few examples of HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of women around the world with hair down their backs - you can do your research and find many more:

Thank you! I was so confused by the comments above that the only time you see black women with hair down their backs is when there is some sort of mixed race going on...uh...NO... I subscribe to MANY natural, waist length channels on YouTube and more than half of them are African.

  • shun king

so you saying its not her natural hair?

  • Aj Cuttinstuff

To Karen Brady, Faux Gibbler and Ary Ary. Since ur so confident her hair is not hers put ur money where ur mouth is. Let’s place a small wager of 500 1k dollars or whatever. Make it light on urself. I’ll hv her meet at a secure place and let’s bet it’s her hair. Jus cause urs won’t grow doesn’t mean e/body’s won’t grow. If u can’t put ur money where ur mouth is STFU!!!!

  • Aj Cuttinstuff

Not to start an argument but the so called African American is not descendants from Africa. We’re descendants from Tribe of Judah in Israel. Africans are descendants of Ham. We’re not the same ethnicity

Men complain about fake women but they have made them millionaires. Kim/Amber/ Delislush etc, etc. while the natural hair, no make-up, traditional dressed, respectful pew sitters sit on the 2nd row pew at church for years waiting on them to acknowledge them. Ladies don't believe the hype.

But the topic wasn't about how black women cant grow their hair. They simply stated "show your natual hair more often." Tell her to stop flexing ?

  • Queen B

???? well said!! We have bigger issues in our community.

  • NYTimes#1Bestseller

Her hair is gorgeous!! I REALLY wish my hair would grow.

  • Dahl

    Natural hair, huh...???

  • Silk press

Is that your real hair? I digress. The top is probably foiled and the back is not. Which would explain her saying she has highlights. That is not her ends that are black. That is her underside. The top is bleached. The nape and up are not. Please go on YouTube and type in natural hair silk press. You will see hair as long as hers and longer. Beautiful healthy black hair. All textures flat ironed to look just like that.

I should link you to my salon.

Also how do you know her hair is Afro textured. My hair is and looks like that when straightened. However she could have waves or looser curls.

  • Silk Press

    You shouldn’t even
be commenting on this woman’s hair. So I guess your sister and niece are the only black women and girls who can grow hair. You really are an idiot.

  • shun king

so why do you women get those hairstyle...chicks always ask me do they hair look good so you tell me the real reason? why yall get them long weaves.

  • the guest

Truth is white women have always been wearing clip ins, sew in, wigs, caps, always have been.

When black women were only wearing their own hair in afros or hot combing, roller setting, or wearing short relaxed cuts, or curl perms, etc, it was white women who were not wearing their own natural hair.

It is a myth that only black women wear extensions and fake hair. White women wear weaves but no one outs their hair as fake and no one humiliates white women for wearing weaves.

  • the guest

I thought is was skeptical that a black woman with her own strong, long natural hair would bleach her hair which is dangerous for black hair. Straighten yes, bleach no. The photos also don't show her scalp or her her hair wet.

  • the guest

How did she lose her hair?

  • http://www.missjhaneuniverse.com Monday

Not sure how that conversation started but most women wear extensions as protective style. And if you speak about celebs, most yt celebs wear hair extensions and wigs, from R.I.P Joan Rivers to the whole Kardashian/Jenner Clan

  • Silk Press

I don’t get long weaves. I get my hair done for myself and my own man. I don’t care what anyone else thinks. In general women get long weaves or their hair done to feel good about themselves. For special occasions. For a change of season. To match their outfit. Because they liked it on somebody else. Because they want a change. Because they feel like it. Some people follow any and every trend.

  • anjanette b

    ?????

  • alex

Meh. Not everyone can grow long hair, and that is true for all races of people, not just black. And you know what? That's OK! Why are people so obsessed with the length of one's hair? It is just hair...! No one cares how long my fingernails grow (my nails grow crazy quick, but no one cares), but they are really interested in how long my hair gets. Ridiculous.

The non-black people who see with short hair: perhaps they cut it, perhaps it can't grow it long and it looks cut -- but no one questions them because they aren't black.

Anti-blackness is real and global. SMDH.

  • alex

But black women are the GOAT in that they can get good grades, and good jobs and still look fly :D

Joking aside, you are right. The black women I've seen in the labs I've worked in (myself included) care very little about how long or straight their hair was. To be real tho, there are still people being denied jobs and getting kicked out of school because they wear their natural hair. So this really can have an impact on people's lives.

  • Smith Jane

Exactly. Anyone with a brain knows black women have long thick hair. The point is their self hating hair regimen

  • Smith Jane

    Damn! ?

  • Yetunde

So many people in denial and they hate hearing the truth.

  • Smith Jane

You know people keep saying we have other things to worry about, or how it’s just hair, but people are really trivializing a much bigger issue. The way we see ourselves trickles down to the values we hold, a culture that we revere, as well as who we date/marry. For centuries women of our community have created a rite of passage for our little girls - relaxers. We present it as gift - sort of an introduction into womanhood - femininity- a journey to “long silky hair”. We have a set rules and processes that we train our little girls to use once they start getting relaxers. The message it sends to our little girls AND little boys is that “silky” straight long hair is associated with beauty and femininity. Then we wonder why we have so many adult women ashamed of wearing their natural hair or why black men have a deep hatred of anything that looks remotely negroid. It is because of how they were raised and what components they were taught to view as beautiful and desirable. We can’t blame it all on the yt men. Our own women are doing the brainwashing of self hatred. Then they have audacity to wonder why their men would rather be with anyone non-black. News flash: if you uphold outdated racist ideologies (wigs/weaves/relaxers) your children aren’t going to compartmentalize that you’re “only doing it for convenience” or “protective styling”, and ultimately your sons are going to seek out the real thing - hence why black women are in a dating desert.

Yes, we need to get our community in order, but it starts with getting the inhabitants to let go of these self hating mentalities. What productive can grow in a community that hates their skin tone and natural hair texture? This IS the bigger issue and we really need to stop trivializing it.

  • TBeezy

Can someone explain to me what is a protective style? Furthermore, why are you protecting your hair and for what? Do you ever plan to just have your hair out unprotected? What's the point of having hair on your head if you never use it? Just shave it ball and wear the hair hats!

Man I have said this SOOOO many times! I'm like, we as men don't wear weaves and stuff to "protect" our hair, but some black men have hair down their back.

  • Seek Truth Speak Truth

I guess they are protecting it from themselves because most of the ladies that are bald are from their own doing and obsession with hair.

  • Queen B

Im natural but when i did have relaxed hair it still grew long. I never had issues when my hair was relaxed.

  • TBeezy

    Yeah i don't get it!

  • shun king

thats the excuse they use because they dont want to take care of their hair and just put that weave on

  • Unhappy American

    OK THEN ? ?

  • Kita Williams

i think it's mostly to protect the hair from themselves. ppl sit and play in they hair all day and don't know how to take care of it. they rely on others to properly care for it. so when they cover it up with whatever it's mainly in a style that forces them to not damage it themselves. also, ppl prone to split ends due to weak strands call protective styles any style that allows their ends to be tucked away. a bun or French roll could be considered "protective" to someone whereas braids and wigs are protective to another

  • Kita Williams

actually I care about nail growth lol I just talked to a coworker for 30min about how thick n healthy her nails are and my struggles with my own lol

  • Stationarity

You are oversimplifying it. If one has a busy schedule...takes care of children, works full time, helps with homework, cooks every night, cleans up, takes Kids to extra activities, AND works out several times a week, an extra hour doing hair in the morning AND four hours to wash and style is a lot to add to an already full plate.

  • alex

I see what you mean! I guess when we have something, we don't think it is that important or hard. Thanks for giving me some perspective!

  • Liah

When your hair is natural it breaks REALLY easy....So we have to be careful about manipulating the hair of tern :(twisting/braiding)that is why we braid it up or wear weave so we dont continuously play in our hair which we naturals have a tendency of doing...So we get "protective" styles to keep our hair healthy

  • Liah

Not true...You have to really careful about manipulating your hair in the natural state...Too much braiding twisting will break it off...Being Natural is not easy but it is most definitely worth it...A typical wash days is @ least 4 hours ...There is alot of work that goes into keeping natural hair healthy...But i wouldn't trade it for the world...Not only is it beautiful it is also empowering!....

  • Liah

Indeed!!!...Thank you for this...People dont understand...This natural life is work...But so worth it!

  • Liah

I agree!...Its not about the length and alot of people canot grow long hair...For me Its about being "natural" my hair..no chemicals..."My crown" ...Its all me!(QUEENIN)...Its empowering and It makes me feel free and proud of my heritage!...Again I say I agree some people to much emphasis on the 'growth" of the hair and not the meaning of the life

  • ShWa

They can think wth they want to think, anything to diminish our light, nice try tho jealous hoes.....

  • shun king

oh yeh black women doing all that? working out several times a week?taking care of children and COOKING every night they doing all that???

  • Natural hair stylist

I’m going to put this out here. Protective styling is real but you do not have to weave or wig. A bun or an Afro puff IS a protective style. Twists that you don’t untwist are a protective style. Braiding your sides then doing an updo with the rest is a protective style. Rodding your hair is a protective style. So are Bantu knots and the list goes on and on. All these styles last at least a week. Anything that’s requires you not to manipulate your hair is a protective style. Please visit a natural hair stylist?

  • Chocolategyrl

Men also lose weight faster than women cuz your body chemistry and hormones are different

  • Chocolategyrl

Not true they just lie about it more

  • AndSo

Please. I ain't talking celebrities. I'm saying everyday white women. They don't need to use weaves like we do. Some have extensions, yes, but nowhere near the amount that black women do. It's just how it is. No shame in it either way.

  • LOVE ALWAYS

So what if sistas wears weaves, wigs or extensions. Men and people with an issue with it really just need to get over it because wigs, weaves and extensions ain't going no where.

Wig, weaves and extensions does not make a person who they are and many people have medical conditions that does not give them a choice in the matter but to wear wigs or hair modifying accessories.

I know why this sista felt she needed to respond, but before that White woman started asking questions about sistas, she should've been asking why they trying to look like sistas with their weave and extensions in their thin hair in addition to why they are getting butt/lip injection, tans to darken their pale skin and chasing down black men like black men like black men going outta style. FOH!!!!!!!

  • Sorry for you

I’m sorry you’ve never had a good woman or mama. Now I understand you?

  • Faux Gibbler

Guess what? Nothing wrong with wearing weaves and clip ins either.

  • SGirl

White women wear wigs etc as much as we do. Who cares..That's what being a woman is about..Change!!!!!

  • SweetTEE

Girl I feel you, but sometimes I just want to braid my hair up, rock a wig and LOC every 2 days for a week or two. Being natural gets on my natural nerves sometimes.

  • SweetTEE

I just want to chop them in the neck every time they have the audacity to speak on WHAT THEY WANT TO BE.

  • SweetTEE

The ends of the hair are fragile with natural hair. Any style that does not require you to manipulate your hair for a couple days is a protective style. "Protective Style" is usually used by women with natural hair and the style is not worn consistently. My real hair is out most of the time and for about a week out of the month I deep condition and wear a protective style so my hair will continue to grow and not break off. But that just me. And please dont get it twisted...all this hair is a full time job.

  • dontgetblocked

    You know you're lying.

&modern corporate America is only beginning to accept natural & ethnic hairstyles. Thank you to the people who wear them and force white ppl to know that ethnic, natural hair is what it is and now, they too can go out and buy dreadlocks /ethnic styles if they get a little Jealous their hair can't be twisted into such intricate styljngs.... :D

  • Goodii2Shoes

    Lol,
The way ppl hate to see a natural head of curls... Weaves protect your natural curls from the hatred your skin color & hair texture incites in some people.

  • Goodii2Shoes

  • Goodii2Shoes

So, when black men and white women began mixing, socially, in America they were kind of in the same level for that era. Owned /controlled by white men,, not trusted to work on their own and required to be overseen by white men whose interest in ethnic women displeased black men and white women ... white women would chase down black men as they are equals on some unfortunate standards ... Possibly why white women get the bm that black women don't respect/value highly in the community ???...#theoreticalThinking

  • alex

If that is your real photo, you and your hair are very beautiful!
I too love being natural, but I don't look down on ladies who choose to relax. I used to relax, but I like my hair natural because it works best for me. What I especially like is being able to wash my hair and watch the natural curls return, but also be able to flat iron it to look like relaxed hair when I want to change the look. My hair has never grown passed my shoulder blades (though it has grown more since I stopped relaxing, fancy that), but after a while, I just stopped caring that it wasn't flowing down my back. I am tired of being judged based on hair length and type.

  • Liah

Yes mam that is me! Thank you Queen?!...People are gong to judge whatever we do!!...SMH!...Rock your hair any way u want!....Oh and I never understood the fake profile pic thing!

  • Liah

    ???

  • BrittBrat2005

I just wanna know why they target Blacks about weave all the time. What's the big deal most black women wear weave to change up styles And protect their real hair. It doesn't mean their insecure. You can do more with weave than your natural hair, you can ruin your natural hair with heat and chemical(bleaching, perms). Duh! She needs to get some knowledge on why most black women wear weave and wigs. And some other black women wear weave because they may be a Cancer patient. She needs to walk herself into a Cancer hospital and look around. She'll be surprised how many white women/little girls in there have wigs its sad situation. If she really needs an eye opener there are other ethnic groups in there as well.

  • alex

That's because standards of beauty for men and women differ greatly in the west. Women are expected to have thick, long flowing hair (regardless of their genetics), yet it must be manipulated into perfect styles at all times. Life doesn't work like that.

While men, no one cares as much what men look like, especially not about the head. Especially since so many of you are balding. And most men (black men in particular) who aren't balding don't have hair down their back, it is cropped short. Why protect hair when it is cropped short all of the time? If men were urged to keep a head full of long thick hair, they would face the same issues as women. Please don't act brand new to this subject.

  • Ant Hill

Cause you all put on those hair hats and then think you are all that.

  • Ant Hill

    Stop lying to kick it.

  • Doink_Ahanahue

Trust me, not acting brand new. I'm also married to a black woman who has chosen to go natural and have a daughter who has chosen to have her hair natural. Bot have at least shoulder length hair and sometimes straighten, sometimes not, sometimes sew-in,etc sometimes not.

My point was some women have become lazy about their hair and wear wigs and weave at all times under the guise of "protecting" their hair. It does take more effort, but you can have multiple styles and looks without wearing a wig, etc all the time.

  • BrittBrat2005

The same feeling when you guys get a haircut you been feeling like a new man. That's how women feel when they get weave. Me, myself I don't wear weave. I'm natural just speaking for the ones that do wear it. I just see so many people all race talking down on black women hair even natural wearing. I'm from Texas where some the schools last year where trying ban natural hair duos no fro, no dreads, etc. Blacks just can't win.

  • ViolettaBliss

I'm not even going to read all the comments below stating that weave's are protective styling. If you want to fool yourself go ahead but you're not fooling anyone else. If weave's were all about protective styling than why not get a weave in your actual hair texture? I have never used weave or wigs but If I ever decided to it would never be some blond white woman's hair texture. Sorry but ethnic women look stupid when they try to emulate white women...

  • SDot

Thank you! I NEVER WORE A WEAVE And ALWAYS had long hair or hair swinging!! I think she's jealous to even think that way and that hard! Da Fuq

HOWEVER! I LOATHE WEAVE AND FAKE HAIR. I feel it should be for ppl who need it only (IE Cancer patients, hair loss patients).....

  • Ant Hill

Sweetheart, wearing a weave is the same as a man getting haircut? really?

  • BrittBrat2005

I think?! you misunderstood me. You said women (think they all that) when they put weave in their hair. I was stating that Men do the same when they get a fresh haircut. They act different as well they behavior change just like the women you were referring to.

  • kennedy campbell

how do you feel about those that do wear their natural hair in it's natural state but also wear weaves because they like changing up their look?

  • kennedy campbell

they sure do...one of my close friends works in a highend salon ....that caters to white women and the extensions and lace fronts are there too..and in demand

  • ViolettaBliss

I feel no way about it. It's up to women to choose what they want to do.
I personally think ethnic women look beautiful in there natural state not when they are emulating white beauty standards. If you hair curls rock your curls. I also do not like the idea of putting synthetic extensions and or weaves into my head. The natural hair is even worse. You don't know who's hair it was, what the standards of cleanliness in the warehouses where the hair is being processed. I also feel like your head is a vital energy source and very important chakra ( the Crown chakra) which is connected to your consciousness, realization, presence , wisdom and connection to higher powers. Why would I want to weigh down my crown chakra or take on someone else's bad energy for a change of look?

  • Chocolategyrl

Still not true they use just as much as we do they just say its there's

  • AndSo

Nope. No way. White women don't need to use it like we do. Their hair is different and can grow long. You are making this up. It's silly.

  • Chocolategyrl

    Not true

  • AndSo

Percentage wise, far more white people have hair that can grow long genetically.

Why you denying that is just ridiculous. I don't get it at all. No point in telling falsehoods.
