MC Lyte

Rap Legend MC Lyte angered social media snowflakes (those who are easily offended by the truth), when she posted an Instagram meme criticizing the #MeToo movement.

In her meme, Lyte, a lesbian who recently married a male, called out women who flirt and then complain about being harassed only when they don't like the alleged harasser.

Lyte, 47, implied that some women will flirt with men (and women) to get what they want, then complain of being harassed.

She wrote: "Some of y'all flirt on Monday to get what you want and then he/she flirts back on Friday and you mad?!"

A perfect example of that scenario is Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o, who decided she was harassed by movie mogul Harvey Weinstein years after she willingly went to his hotel room alone and willingly gave him a back rub.

Some would argue that Lupita went to his hotel room to increase her chances of appearing in one of his movies.

Only later, when it was convenient for her, did she decide to add her name to the #MeToo movement.

Women like Lupita make it difficult for real rape victims to be taken seriously.

After the backlash on social media, Lyte posted a video apologizing to the snowflakes and calling for a discussion on the "Rules of Engagement".

"It was not my intention to offend anyone who has ever experienced sexual harassment; nor anyone who has flirted.  In order to have healing, we need to discuss the Rules of Engagement Now.
#RulesOfEngagementNow"

The hypocrisy of it all is what prompted Lyte to post -- then delete -- her comment calling out the #Metoo movement in the first place.

Ok, and she told no lies....

  • Phillybruh

My husband just took a case where a man is firing back at his company for this exact thing.

  • Anunnaki

If u cant stand firm in what u believe, and always need to apologize for saying it, (CELEBS) stick to singing, acting, buck dancing, whatever your talent is, cause yall really disgust me with this back peddling chyt.

  • Blaque Mahogany

I agree with her post. I don't think she backtracked... I think she clarified.

  • JoJoDancer

The problem I have with the whole #MeToo movement (the Hollywood version of it anyway)is that if some of these women stood up and said #MeToo a long time ago there wouldn't be as many #MeToos out there. Now, they want to come off so strong like they so darn brave when their silence made them accomplices. And before anyone say they were afraid. Why? They doing it now. They all could have gotten together a long time ago. Especially in Weinstein's case since just about every women in Hollywood knew. They could have ran him out years ago.

  • Noirluv45

My mom used to tell me, "Say what you mean, and mean what you say."

  • Anunnaki

    Rule of thumb?

  • TMW

They have nothing to lose now. Most of them that came forward don’t have their careers on the line anymore. Still very telling that not many CURRENT “A List” celebrities have come forward.

And yes, i’m in agreement with anyone who sees that coming forward 20 years after an incident occurs serves NO ONE but the person coming forward.

  • Ni Ni

I agree with her initial statement. Lupita is a perfect example; she knew how the man was and kept going around him. Hollywood is good for brainwashing people into backing whatever cause/issue is going on at the moment, but i see through it. Many of those actors whored themselves out or allowed certain behavior to continue to get what they wanted. Im not talking about the rapes.

  • Rayne

Yep I believe that is true in most instances in the workplace. I’ve seen for myself how women and men flirt with each other but when they get skipped over for promotions they get really pissed cause it went to the new girl. I keep myself to myself at work. I don’t like racial jokes nor flirting. I won’t do it. I’m more known for not participating. They’ll get over it.

  • Elevated Soul

I don't get why she apologized because what she stated is truth.?

People in the industry know who the sleazebags are,yet will still allow themselves to be on the "casting couch"....That is not a victim!

  • TMW

Good for the man! This has always felt like some type of Salem Witch hunt to me. Men are losing their careers and livelihoods over accusations that may or may not ever be litigated, let alone proven. Everyone is being very reactive. Everyone, no matter the circumstance is innocent until proven guilty. We are already taking major steps back with our current administration, God forbid we digress with our legal system; we won’t stand a chance.

  • 2telldatruth

I was wondering why she would say anything considering the present environment. I mean she's doing well right now and you just don't want to be caught up in that mix right now. Men have run the show for centuries now and the shift is about to take place. It's long overdue to put an end to men managing and running women lives via their penis.

  • JRock

She had to apologize or risk losing her BET award show gigs and all the other award shows she does the announcing for.

But dang, Lyte looking like somebody's 70 year old auntie in that pic. Marrying a man and switching from gay to straight didn't help, huh?

  • Noirluv45

    Exactly. ?

  • BlahBlahBlah

Been out the country 2 weeks, didn't miss much I see. Tax reform, cartel killings, a satellite launch, and Lyte got back with a roughneck. Fina make this tea...

  • Noirluv45

That's the best way to be. Keeps you out of trouble. Someone said on here the other day, "Don't eat where you shyt."

  • Expected

Most black women, especially old ones, especially gay ones think like here. This is not surprising.

  • Dahl

    I agree with her statement...*shrugs*

  • shun king

statement is true in my experiences

  • 5000BlinK

I agree with what MC Lyte is saying.... I am a Woman and we can use things to our advantage and when it doesnt work out we can be foul and yell harrassment or whateva. I also know that their are Women who dont want to be touched or flirted with on NO type of level...sooooo talking about the Rules of Engagement is a start..just like talking about sexual harassment in the work place and doing work shops on the issue... I know some chicks that play dangerous games to get what they want and now they are falling in line with the Women who have been touched or treated a certain unwanted way... #notfair and this is all Women Black, White, Latino, Arabic, Indian Mixed with a lot of Races and so on.... Prostituion is the oldes profession and some Women have no chill until its time to play the victim. Naw Son

  • 5000BlinK

Merry Xmas to yall... Im late but didnt have time to get on here yesterday. Thanks Auntie for spreading that love last year. Since this tax reform benefit you hopefully we will see more good gifts in 2018. Im ready! Im ready!
SO DOES THIS MEAN THE CHILD TAX CREDIT GOES UP FOR IRS FILING FOR 2017 OR NAH....SOMEONE EDUCATE ME PLEASE... I HAVE STUDENT LOAN DEBT ALSO SOOOOOOO WILL I BE BLESSED WHEN FILING TAXES FOR 2017 OR NAH? PLEASE SHARE KNOWLEDGE THIS SEASON

  • Tammie Reed

I can NOT believe I'm older than her lol.

  • Simone

Yep! All of Hollywood allowed Harvey Weinstein to be a creep when it benefitted their careers and because he was a wealthy donor to the Democrat Party and their causes like Planned Parenthood, etc.. How come some of these actresses like Ashley Judd did not out him and save the next victim. Lots of them slept their way to the top, then hopped on the Me Too "movement" like the sheep they are.

  • Expected

I disagree because you can’t flip patriarchy. We live in a patriarchal society and while some women may play the game to their advantage, it doesn’t change the fact that men are in control. And men do harass and intimidate women in the work place. So this black woman has no sympathy for any man who harasss, sleeps with, approaches, or gives job opportunities to women based on their looks or their willingness to give it up. It’s gross, it’s wrong, and it needs to stop. The narrative needs to change.

  • EMILY POST

Liberal Agenda.... Always make people apologize especially if they are black and they are not pro white female lib agenda and if they are not with the polarizing Politics of the democratic party... Ohh Yeah MC Lyte is in Entertainment so she can get black listed for views.

  • Simone

Thank you Sandra Rose for calling out actress Lupita Nyong’o. I remember 1st reading her allegations on Daily Mail stating Harvey Weinstein made her massage him in his hotel room. How does someone force you to massage them without a gun to your head?! She set aside her self-respect and massaged him to advance her career. Plain and simple.

  • EMILY POST

I agree 100% with MC Lytes Original Comment. I am over this one sided liberal agenda all or nothing. They think they own your vote and your opinion.

  • Expected

It’s wrong because he shouldn’t have used his position to proposition women. He also raped and forced himself on women. What’s wrong with people? And no she shouldn’t have done it. She made her choice.

  • Mr.LeBrickJames

There's a lot of truth in what she said though.
For a lot of women, if she thinks the man is "cute", he's just being "flirtatious"... but if he's ugly/unattractive to her, then it's "sexual harassment".

  • MistaO

As per expected, most females recoil from truth. Same thing happened to Pamela Anderson when she also dropped a bit of hard truth within this waning debate.

  • Mr.LeBrickJames

    #sheepmentality

  • Elevated Soul

Right.....Many knew how Harvey Weinstein and others like him operated. Now all of the sudden you got women and even some men that willingly opened their mouth and everything else for these creeps and now these opportunists want to play the "victim".

I feel the real victims were anyone under 21 especially the children 16 and under. The real problem is the pedophile network in Hollywood...I could care less about what grown decide to do.....I realize there are indeed some "real rapes that occurred" but they are few but in some cases,"the victims of said rapes knew the reputation of the people at certain types of parties".

For instance Selma Hayek(I believe that is her name) stated that Harvey Weinstein "made her perform a lesbian sex scene, which is against her beliefs". In my opinion,s he could have "walked away from that movie but she chose to do the scene".....There are many people in Hollywood who would do anything and anyone to become rich and famous.

  • Simone

Of course he's wrong for using his power for sexual favors but as you said, she made a choice. Anyone can proposition you, but you have a choice. As I said, she put advancing her career over her self-respect when she went to his hotel and willingly massaged him. Don't cry victim now.

  • Expected

Most “females” on here are agreeing with her. I think you hate black women.

  • Expected

Lots of unattractive women have to go to work and actually do their job. I’ve seen women come to work who know nothing and do nothing coast because of their looks. It goes both ways.

  • Expected

She did and she’s not a victim because she still obliged. But he’s the one who lost his job because of the power imbalance and she still has the right to tell her story to bring him down. He was wrong. I’m glad all this is happening.

  • Simone

Exactly! My 1st thought regarding Salma Hayek when I read her allegation was how does someone make you do a lesbian scene?! First off, it was part of the script if you know Frida Kahlo's life story (that's who Salma was playing). Secondly, walk away! Put your self-worth and self-respect before a movie. She's lying and just wants to join the played-out Me Too "movement". It makes a mockery of real victims like underage victims. Rose McGowan is running around acting like a hero and the spokesperson for Me Too victims, yet she did a film with Director/Writer Victor Salva a few years ago and said his crimes are none of her business and called him kind and gentle. Victor Salva is a convicted pedophile and child porn maker. Francis Ford Coppola used his influence to get him less time because Coppola produces Salva's Jeeper Creeper movies. Hollywood is a sick cesspool and mainly Democrat Party donors but they love to lecture Republicans about morality at every movie ceremony. I no longer watch.

  • 5000BlinK

or if he doesnt have money an power that he is willing to give her,,,,,the story will change

  • JoJoDancer

But that's the point. When they had something to lose they allowed hundreds of other women to be violated. What did they have to lose that was more important then saving other women, and men and children. And let's got here, they'll tell on Harvey but what about the pedos? Another badly kept secret.

  • TMW

I was responding to you asking “why” in your post, but I guess that was a rhetorical question LOL! Anyway, I agree with you.

  • imright

i agree with her meme ? its only harrassment when she doesnt like him or she cant get what she wants...promotion, money, time

  • shun king

just like a woman to not even COMPREHEND the other persons thoughts ...DO YOU SEE WHERE I STATE IN MY EXPERIENCES OR HAVE YOU LIVED MY EXPERIENCES ALSO???

  • Junkanoo

The public is so bizzare they get made at the sleazy perverted men but not NBC for keeping Matt Lauer on the payroll ,they knew he was harassing employees and did nothing. Same for all of Hollywood, PBS,Netflix CBS and a long list of other companies who did more to create a toxic work environment

  • Junkanoo

Seems like there a host of issues connected to me to,rape, pedophila, sexual harassment. People who used sex to get ahead need to have a seat how are they victims they did what they needed to do to get the A list projects . I don't look at any of these stars the same ,what did they do to make it to the top

  • Readytochokemothernatureout

There is truth in her statement and not all of them are telling the truth either.

  • Phillybruh

Somehow I knew politics would seep in here. Republicans are usually caught diddling little boys or men when they say its wrong. I can't wait for that shoe to drop.

  • China

Lyte don't apologise you in point???????

  • JoJODancer

    It was...LOL.

  • EMILY POST

For all you Nay sayers.... About Sandra Rose and people like myself political commentary each and every day. I see a slow change in intellectual thinking Politically. You have to dare to challenge the status quo.... We should all be greatful for the small but few platforms that allow free thought and free thinking. It is time for all people to challenge the Democratic agenda.... I have been saying this all the time. Not everything is in our political interest and they are making people retract and silencing her.

  • Chaseboogie The Prince

The problem with what Lyte is saying is that she is 'assuming' ALL of those women had a choice. I'm speaking on the Hollywood thing because I am 'assuming' this is what she is talking about. The problem is many of these women were raped. The men have been getting away with this in Hollywood forever. The children have been drugged and raped. Look at all of those Disney kids that are drugged out of their minds. Yes some women flirt, some women volunteer for that casting couch, but others were simply raped. I remember reading about the lady that Harvey raped where he took out her tampon to rape her. This chick was crying like a baby. There is no way she was just flirting. I will ALWAYS give women and children the benefit of the doubt, because society has ALWAYS found a way to blame the victim, and that is really the problem. We keep excusing men's behavior and blaming the women and children for how they dress, act, say, blah, blah, blah. When we all know rape is about control. It's not flirting.

  • Elevated Soul

Great points....I just feel this has become an avalanche of followers wanting to belong to the supposed "me too" crowd...

The main victims in this are children....

  • Li

She's half right. I do believe a lot of these (no-name) women who were allegedly harassed and assaulted by names like Simmons, Smiley, Weinstein, et al were expecting something in return for either going out with the men, being seen with the men, or boinking the men. Some of the women I never heard of before and you go look up their biog and they haven't done anything measurable in music or film. I think men can smell a desperate for stardom woman - and they take advantage of that. Certainly with Bill Cosby IMO, some of those women were with him because of his notoriety and thinking they could get a part or a TV show.

So yeh, she's half right. Then there are the innocent women who are just naive and don't know who they're dealing with.

  • hottlanta

I guess them putting Anita Hill over the sexual harassment commission is their way of telling her they are sorry they didn't think she told the truth years ago. The guy Terry Crews is suing has quietly returned back to work.

  • hottlanta

Yep they parade around the country that they love family values and black folks. We see how that turned out from what we have turned up over the years.

  • http://batman-news.com Roderick2011

    of course...

  • Mark mcharm

But it is not ok to cry rape when it is convenient either

  • Mark mcharm

she never said that she was talking general workplace flirting in every profession.

  • http://batman-news.com Roderick2011

Maybe you should look at some polls that aren't on Breitbart or Stromfront.

Democrats have a 13 point advantage in a generic poll over Democrats, but keep those blinders on when you hit by the Blue Wave in November 2018.

  • AnotherBlackGirl

She didn't need to apologize. She spoke truth.

  • EMILY POST

Maybe you should look at something other than MSNBC. The Democratic party will more than likely win districts and its sad but A Democratic win is not a win for Black America. Its the opposite. You are so busy trying to argue with me too bad you dont spend as much time reviewing the corrupt policies of the party that have been destroying communities since the Civil Rights movement.

  • http://batman-news.com Roderick2011

    LOL.

What are the destructive policies that have been killing rural white communities since Reagan?

  • EMILY POST

stalker guy... Its okay a lot of people of color are into just Voting blindly for the Democratic party...

  • Stan4NoOne

She said what she meant and she meant what she said! #IAGREE

  • http://batman-news.com Roderick2011

Keep pretending that people of color don't vote on issues.

  • Y’all Jealous Cuz I’m Prudy

As a survivor, I agree. Women who lie about rape, molestation or any other form of abuse, take away from the seriousness of the crime and the attention from real victims.

To have your power taken away and the feeling of worthlessness afterwards, is no joking matter.

I too feel like some of those women are just jumping on the bandwagon, for revenge purposes.

  • SELFLOVE2

NO SHE DOES NOT RESEMBLE GLADY'S KNIGHT. EVER SINCE YOU ATE AT HER SON'S RESTAURANT IN ATLANTA, YOU THINK EVERYONE LOOKS LIKE GLADYS KNIGHT. STOP TRIPPIN

  • AnotherBlackGirl

I like MC Lyte . But in that video, to me, she resembles a young Gladys Knight. Just my opinion that's all. I hope you h ad a nice holiday.

  • EMILY POST

yawwwwwn..What I am not going to do is pretend like going back and forth with you is interesting ...

  • Oya Shango

If she married a man she is not a lesbian. True lesbians do not marry or date men.

  • http://batman-news.com Roderick2011

You get off on insulting black people. Period.

  • ZRoJoTheLezBeyond

Going by your logic, so when men marry women (and a lot of times have families) and come out later in life as being gay, does that mean they aren't/weren't true gay men living in the closet?

  • Liah

    ***CRYING OVA HERE**!!!

  • gellie

People who used sex to get ahead are now using the #MeToo movement as a means of re-writing their hoe past. They are piggybacking on actual real deal victims of sexual assault. And it bothers me that we can't even have a conversation about those WILLING to do ANYTHING to gain favor.

  • Stacey J

"....Lyte, a lesbian who recently married a male,".....really? The way Sandra throws/inserts subtle shade is at a whole 'nother professional type level...

  • Junkanoo

Were going to have to multitask and have several conversations cause there multiple issues. I am not as interested in celebrities as l am everyday people. Just the other day l was wondering are everyday women speaking up about their experiences and how it's impacting families. To hell with these celebrities this is so much bigger than just them who were prepared to do what ever it to get gigs

  • SmithyPooh

    ?????? #weak??

  • Oya Shango

It is not "my logic," but the beliefs of a core lesbian group themselves. What is little talked about are the divisions within the LGBT community regarding these issues. However, if you are lesbian or have grown-up around them, you will learn how they view themselves. 30+ years ago, true lesbians who did not want to marry, many would join the nunnery or simply leave home. They have never engaged in any form of sexual relations with men. Lesbians also do not equate neither themselves nor their struggle with those of gay men. You can not compare the two on how they handled concealing their sexuality.

  • Applebootay

only its not subtle.....it VERY obvious....LOL
