Snow and Atlanta roads do not mix. Schools, businesses and government offices shut down at the first hint of snow or sleet in Atlanta and the surrounding suburbs.

Many parents were forced to call out from work to stay home with their children, as the temperature hovered around 15 degrees Fahrenheit on Wednesday morning.

Atlanta's famous The Varsity restaurant announced all locations in Atlanta, Athens, Kennesaw and Norcross are closed today.

Atlanta Police are working a 9-car car crash on Lenox Road at Ga. 400 in Buckhead, near Lenox and Phipps shopping malls, according to @ajcwsbtraffic.

The Department of Transportation urged drivers to use caution on the Interstates. Up to 3 inches of snow is expected to fall in Atlanta by Wednesday afternoon.

I-75 South Metro Express Lanes are closed except for emergency vehicles until further notice.

Gwinnett Police tweeted: "We have worked 174 accidents since midnight."

A winter weather advisory is in effect for all of north Georgia until Wednesday afternoon.

If you live in Atlanta and you have to make a run to the store for milk or bread -- the shelves are bare. Call ahead to make sure your neighborhood grocery store is open.

All of this over 2 inches of snow?!? Come visit NY in the winter and you will see some snow. I know the kids are happy though.

  • Shira Harding-James

    Louisiana too

  • Noirluv45

Be careful out there, ya'll. Fayetteville, NC is expecting about 2 inches of snow as well.

Hey, I'm not trying to insult Atlantans, but I heard from a friend that ya'll drive fast and crazy out there and she's from L.A. where they really drive crazy. She got on that freeway that circles around (don't know the name of it) and she thought she was going to die.

  • Look@m3

Yup even if its 1 inch. Ill take it. Yawl can have those cold trips to work and school and digging up snow to get out your drive way. We will just take the shut down and be happy in our warm homes watching these idiots slide across the roads on the news! LOL

  • Look@m3

Uhm, Atlantans are not Atlantans so more than likely those crazy drivers are from other places. There are very few people from Atlanta that actually live here.

  • jwoo2504

I was thinking the same thing. Come to the Midwest.. Lol I wish they would shut the city down so I can rest at home. But it would take Ice and more like 15 inches or more to shut my city down...lol But in Atlanta's defense they don't have the salt trucks and aren't as prepared as we are. We are use to drivining in this type of weather. But Atl and all other southerners better get use to it. Because the climate change is only going to make it worse.

  • Noirluv45

Oh, OK. Whoever they are, she said they drive crazy.

  • Kemi

Y’all welcome to the club ?!! It’s been treacherous on/off here in the East coast

  • Lady_Elle

it is not the 2 inches of snow... it is the ICE that was under the snow!
    It iced over last night.
I walked my driveway... the snow is very little. The ICE is real!

  • Ghost

LOL...2 inches of snow and 15 degrees! I'll take it. Chicago resident here...right now its 6 degrees! anything ABOVE zero is appreciated and don't even want to talk about snow because we have a snow storm on the way....It takes a LOT to shut this city down. Kids barely get snow days anymore...smh.

Enjoy...your day off. This morning I had on 3 layers, boots, vaseline on my face then the scarf! sigh....

  • Quitedeliteful

I wish we were so lucky in NYC. Could be six inches of snow and businesses are still open. Damn job still looking for folks to come to work. Take off if you want to but use your own vacation time...

  • Lady_Elle

I have been following the weather on the East coast. It has been real! A snow BOMB??? Wow had never hear of it before.

  • Lady_Elle

Kids in my county are working online... no day off.

  • Guest©

Why are they idiots for sliding?!? Most of the ppl out on the roads in bad weather are heading to work. I feel sorry for anyone who gets into a weather related accident. Some ppl don't have the luxury of calling out. If anything the snow makes one stronger. Due to climate change, don't count on not having cold days and snow. Better get your salt and shovel.

  • Whiplash(lacejagger)

Born and raised in Atlanta. Sandra it's always
been like this; city shuts down when it snows. It's just that we've not had a winter like this in years. I remember when the climate was true to the seasons, here in Georgia. Cool by Sept, cold by December, and warm by the end of March.

  • Guest©

    Exactly, smh.

  • 4FlavorsOfMe CreoleMami

The most stress on the highway for me is Fla, Atl, and CA but Cali drivers are wreckless as all hell... Ill take Ga traffic anyday... I miss Ga :( that is my home

  • Kemi

Yh!! Snowed in and everything! Was happy I had my hot cocoa n liquor.. lol

  • Noirluv45

There are a lot of Florida drivers here in Fayetteville, and I can vouch for them being CRAZY! I see their license plates and move as far from them as possible. Lived in L.A., and they are the personification of reckless drivers. Thank God I don't live there anymore. I have horror stories from friends and family that still live in L.A. I know what you mean about missing home though. ?

  • Queen B

I was just talking to my bf about this i was saying hell it seems like it doesn't really get warm til May

  • 4FlavorsOfMe CreoleMami

I drive like Miss Daisy real slow and easy so everything scares me LMAO

  • Queen B

Thats what ppl seem to miss lol its the ice that's dangerous not the snow

  • Queen B

Its not the snow its the ice!!!

  • ~~eb

I miss Chicago, but I DON'T miss what you just described.

  • Noirluv45

LOL! I don't blame you. I'm a very careful driver too. Have to be. You have to drive for yourself and everyone else because some people don't care.

  • Guest©

Yes, that forms from the snow.

  • Zeta Phi Beta 1920

    OK. Help me.
Does it NOT snow EVERY winter?
    Why the circus?

  • CaramelDrop

Same here in Texas. Then from June to Nov the temp here is boiling hell hot.
No in between temps any more, one or the other - icy or hell fire.

  • E-VannaRootsAllEvil

We still here babes all of us we just hidden

  • 4FlavorsOfMe CreoleMami

So true my mom always told me that "drive for you and everyone else" the teen drivers are the worst they really scare me...

  • WutizstillHERE!

My daughter too. They called us and said it was individual work day and to go online and see your assignments.

  • Dowoop

I like this. Not gonna come home and lounge.

  • Mr.LeBrickJames

I feel bad for everybody who's been inconvenienced by this, but I'm glad I got to work from home today.

  • WutizstillHERE!

I drove to work juuust fine.. I have a lil Chevy Cruze too.. Saw all kinda people sliding and turning OPPOSITE the slide real smart like...cars in the ditch..sports cars sliding sideways the funniest tho was a dude that ACTUALLY sped up trying to make a hill... I let my foot off the gas and cut right onto the shoulder in time for him to spin my way..why try if you don't know how?

  • Queen B

Welp im sitting in the bed with the day off ? The city might b shut down til this weekend

  • Noirluv45

Yes, your mom is right. Don't get me started with the teen drivers. They have zero experience knowing how to judge another driver's actions. Plus they think they are invincible. They scare me too.

  • Blaque Mahogany

I live somewhere that is similarly affected by light snow showers. I love it! The issue is truly ice. In areas where the main mode of transportation is city transport I guess it makes sense that you would not be as concerned with the roads as other places like VA, NC,GA. I've heard of a couple of different instances where people have been killed on their way to/from work in NC. Also, I wouldn't want my child standing outside for 15/20 min in 10 degree weather waiting on the bus. So... I'm cool with everything shutting down.

  • CaramelDrop

    Mine THOUGHT they were lol!
9 degrees here in Prosper. One of my kids thought they would be slick and “accidentally” cut the sprinklers on last night. I know it was one of the older two because I drop them off early for sports. They were super salty because the had to ride that good ole school bus today lol - they didn’t think it through!! I’m “stuck” home though?

  • WutizstillHERE!

    Help me with this rational
    1. Isn't snow...ice?
    2. Most of the time unless the ground is at a freezing temp the first flurry always melt underneath then freezes as the temp drop and snow accumulates this phenomenon doesn't just happen in Georgia.. where ever snow happens..Ice is there.
Now my question is..why do people say " its not the snow its the ice" I think its the driver that doesn't know how to drive on it. Most cities that snow every winter have drivers who have to do this so they learn how to. I personally think because Georgia drivers aren't use to the snow/ice that make it dangerous because it is rare for them and that is why the accident rate is so high when it does get this little bit of weather...

  • Renee26

Damn you mother nature!! I'm so sick of winter...can we just cancel the entire season??

  • Renee26

The temps have to be above freezing for it to snow so it's not ice until it melts and freezes. I agree it's easier to drive on top of layers of snow but when there's black ice it's dangerous. If you can't see the road and only see snow it's safer...Midwest here

  • C Mack

You answered your own question lol. These fools here try to drive like the road is normal then go up in arms when their cars are totaled

  • C Mack

    Where do you live? Ga?

  • Renee26

    LOL not speeding up....foolish

  • Renee26

It didn't used to snow down south

  • WutizstillHERE!

Im from E. St Louis. I know black ice is real. Those who don't get the opportunity to run across it as much as we Mid Westerners did don't get the practice of knowing what to do when you do run across this. I have seen so many drivers this morning trying to come out a spin turning thier wheel the opposite direction..slamming on the brakes when they slide etc. it is knowing what to do and not panicking...

  • C Mack

Salty behind parents not wanting to spend time with their children lol

  • Renee26

    Does it snow there too??

  • Phillybruh

My oldest gets visibly upset when school is cancelled. I don't know where he gets that from. He may be the only kid I know that watches the news hoping his school isn't on the list of closures.

  • Renee26

    LMAO turned the sprinklers on...Nooooo

  • WutizstillHERE!

Yep. I think it is time snow conditions be at least a part of the written exam on what to do in case of icy conditions.

  • Hmmm~?

I swear ATL is home to some of the most incompetent drivers in the nation. It is not difficult at all to drive on ice if you know what you’re doing. Not sure why everyone in this city acts so special when it comes to winter weather.

  • country57

2 inches? I live upstate New York, we have snow everywhere. Damn near 10 inches. Two inches would be heaven.

  • WutizstillHERE!

Oh also yes in the atmosphere it can be freezing but ground temperature can still be above it so it melts until the ground reaches freezing temp and becomes ice.

  • Kanyade

2 inches of snow, but how’s much ICE? ? Texas shut down yesterday and today. I’m at home again because of snow *cough* ice.

  • Renee26

Most of the ppl out on the roads in bad weather are heading to work.

That part....nurses, doctors, firefighters...most public service people can't take the day off

  • CaramelDrop

Girl NO! I saw two pieces of ice on the trash can Monday. Dallas is on a delay because of snow DUST lol!

  • Renee26

Lol that's what I'm talking about. I want to move south where it doesn't snow and rarely gets cold

  • Renee26

Yeah you definitely have to know how to drive in that mess....our drivers manuals explain what to do. I guess they left those instructions out of theirs LMAO

  • CaramelDrop

Thought they were slick! Had hot coco, scarves and gloves on deck lol! My son was mortified having to get on the bus (he’s a junior thinks it’s beneath him lol) blew my up my text COMPLAINING. Told him to look at this as a work ethic exercise lol!

  • Yardgirl

You and me both girl!! I DGAF, go around me and go crash your damn self!! I live in CT and nothing closes until the governor closes the state down and we talking when it becomes over 2ft not 2 inches, TUH!

  • Blaque Mahogany

    1. Snow is not ice. It's snow. Hence, the different names silly. You can have ice and no snow, and snow and no ice.

    2. Ice is not ALWAYS present.

    3. People say it's not the snow, it's the ice because that is the case. People are idiots. Commuting to work early in the morning and in the evening, the absence of snow (or presence of small amounts of snow) creates an illusion that the roads are clear, but the ICE causes the wreck.

  • Queen B

I know but its 2 different forms of it like ice vs water or cocaine vs crack. Ice is more dangerous than snow

  • Guest©

Yes!! My heart sunk reading that ppl find it humorous to see cars sliding on roads. These are not drunk drivers.

  • Rayne

Chicago wouldn’t give a damn bout this. Oh you going to work/school ??

  • Guest©

Of course, I never stated it wasn't. Black ice is the worse.

  • Yardgirl

How come Atlanta is STILL struggling with ice/snow?? It's been years since the first **cough**dusting of snow**cough** that crippled the city for hours/days!! The weather forecasters can predict the weather days out so what is the issue with treating the roads? Crazzzy.

  • Dowoop

I live in Canada, my kids have never had a snow day. They dont know such a thing exists. We live 5 mins from the school so ice or snow their ass is at school cuz i know if ice is on the ground the school is keeping them inside for recess.

  • EScrazy

Lol you ain’t never lied we have more snow than that now and the streets are plowed ?

  • Renee26

i don't think they have the trucks and salt supply

  • jeniefrumdabloc™

Sitting here right here on my balcony watching folks slide back down the hill in their cars ???... Atlantans ... Then my daughter wants me to go get something to eat.... Shyting me... chilling enjoying this weather ... Not tearing my whip up...

  • Readytochokemothernatureout

    Be safe....

  • Readytochokemothernatureout

    Be safe

  • Renee26

    LMAO

  • Renee26

LMAO I love it!! Get em together momma! I have a 16 year old myself so I already know

  • Readytochokemothernatureout

It was 3 deegree weather and Cleveland stayed open but mine stayed in.

  • Anunnaki

Technically snow is ice, its just how it forms , snow forms in the clouds due to tiny icecrystals , somehow those crystals fall making it snow

  • jeniefrumdabloc™

Not use to it... Hell folks can't drive down here in rain or when it's crystal clear ... Let alone snow ... Do you know how many folks done moved down here and you gotta drive everywhere you go... Traffic be hell without bad weather ...literally everyday ... Plus this shyt done turned full Hollywood .... You may run right into an action movie being filmed ... So yeah Atlanta is packed .... Psa (We Full)

  • Rayne

You better tell em. Chicago be like ... closed ? bihhh...wtf is that? Lmbo

  • jeniefrumdabloc™

    I'm real safe... ??

  • CaramelDrop

Canada?? some of the most genuine women I can actually call a “friend” are Jamaicans from Canada going to make my way there this year!!

I don’t blame you! My younger 3 are walking distance too! I gleefully used this PTO today but I try to enforce “you don’t work you don’t eat, won’t grind you don’t shine”. School is there job right now so only sickness, death and the school flat out being closed is the only way they’re staying home.

  • jeniefrumdabloc™

The traffic not like ours either ... One of the worst in the Nation .... Atlanta is too deep for this....

  • Slim Goodie

We don't salt the roads and to be fair our city is just simply not equipped for this weather. Then again why would we invest in the machinery for the 2-3 days out of the year that we may get snow? It's not about not knowing how to drive in this condition. I mean last night the salt truck flipped over up 85. It's just not a apples to apples comparison.

  • Slim Goodie

Glad I'm not a kid in this day and age. I would be outside with my friends playing in the snow!

  • Slim Goodie

Preach sis! I'm from Atlanta but most folks I meet are not from here. Yall aint going to throw that "bad driver" stereotype on us chile. lol

  • You already know ?

????....we are use to that here in the Midwest ??????

  • Yardgirl

Thanks girl!! I was just curious and wanted a real answer from a real live native lol. Be safe!!

  • Slim Goodie

    bwhaaaaaaa!!!!! You are a mess!

  • Yardgirl

That makes sense! They need to get it together for the safety of the citizens though because this global warming is no joke and snow is the new normal everywhere!!

  • You already know ?

Hell yeh..all my life growing up we are getting the Fck outta that house ??????

  • CaramelDrop

Ugh! 16-17, The Age of “Reason”. Know it alls, that don’t know ish ?. I used to think kids are easy after diapers. Shhhhiiiiiiddd, NOT. They’re malleable and easy to satisfy/trick until the teen years. I have to research, find examples and create diagrams to get my point across now lol! Damn google and YouTube undermines my go- to debate ending phrase: “Because I said So” ?

  • Marlika

That little bit of dusting ??

  • Rayne

    You already know ...okay

  • Rayne

Yea like they didn’t build the infrastructure to fit it or something. Y’all traffic too crazy. I’d just bike it. ??

  • Toni ToniToni

Driving on Ice is Dangerous.. Snow is much easier

  • Look@m3

THANK YOU!! I'm so sick of these hollywooder. LA can have it and its not Native Atlantans I keep telling people.....its rare you meet someone from Atlanta that actually live here. That goes for the projects too. Most of the people here that cant drive aren't even from here.

  • Look@m3

Yeah it has to be contracted out also our weather people +SUCK!!! They don't know when we are about to have rain, sleet, snow or a tornadoe. Shit just be popping up on us out of no where like that tornadoe that hit downtown, no one knew that tornadoes was coming so people were actually in the GA Dome at a game and doing other things in the city. Our weathermen SUCK!

  • jeniefrumdabloc™

hell I walk a lot... Hate traffic ... I will get out and walk... Keeps me slim... ?

  • jeniefrumdabloc™

    ????

  • jeniefrumdabloc™

    I know you know... ?

  • Look@m3

Thank you...common sense isn't common! Most of the people from here are not from here so tired of saying this..lawd!

  • Look@m3

Right that's like expecting people in FL or Jamaica to be prepared for a snow storm...Smh people just jumping on bandwaggons cause they mad they have to go to work or school. SMDH.

  • Look@m3

...and to add.....once you drive on the snow it flattens out and the cold air makes the flattened SNOW turn to a slippery slope under very cold conditions which driving can be dangerous even if you are an expert driver you still slide. Who wants to slide to work or school.....it can never be that serious.

  • Look@m3

I welcome it...(sips tea) as I watch people on the news slide and glide and tear their cars up to go to QT.

  • Look@m3

    ME TOO!!! All for this.....

  • Look@m3

I live in GA and it NEVER snowed like this. I was born and raised here and I only recall snow 1 time as a lil girl...this snow we getting now is on some other ish...along witht he tornadoe we had a few years back. The weather in GA has changed ALOT. So it never used to snow like this back in the day...this is the 2nd time we have had snow in 1 year. They don't call this Hotlanta or no reason...this weather now is some bull but I welcome the shut down with all arms.

  • Look@m3

    Me too..Times have truly changed.....

  • Renee26

LMAO nothing but truth!! I'm queen of "because I said so" and "because I'm the adult and you're the child" I don't even bother debating

  • Look@m3

That's cool of you to be honest most of these people seem like they ok with with shoveling 5 feet of snow every morning to get to work and school.

  • Look@m3

    That's dope!

  • Look@m3

Thank you for being candid! I would love to visit Chicago one day but I don't think I can get used to those temperatures or snow levels. I'm enjoying this shut down here in GA...

  • Look@m3

Yeah I know but its not that many even all my friends I went to HS with have moved to other cities (that's just a few) and everyone I meet at work are either from NY, LA, MS, Detroit etc...so I just get tired of people talking about Atlantans like this.
Like I don't expect people in FL to be used to Snow blizzards or ice storms.. I use a lil bit of rationale...

  • Whiplash(lacejagger)

I just told my daughter to call uber eats or to order a pizza.

  • Look@m3

Yeah, I think there are crazy drivers in every major city. People are always in a rush to get somewhere so when you add rush hour traffic to the mix, texting and driving, lack of patience (or anything to take your focus off the road) at the same time you tend to get some crazy drivers. I have seen my share here in Atlanta just like I have seen some in other states.

  • Look@m3

You know what. You right my husband was one of those idiots driving to work only to find out he didn't need to be there. Thank God he made it back home safe but the ones I see on the news are purposely sliding on the road for fun...JS. It is never that serious to be out their in your luxuray car for a Quick trip 'trip"

  • C Mack

Same! Born and raised here as well. I can count on both hands how many snow days I had as a kid but this school year alone I’m counting multiple.

I never heeded the warnings about global warming when I was younger, but I see it’s not a game now!

  • Look@m3

I don't find it humorous, I find it crazy that anyone would be out here driving... but everybody out here in these streets are not going to work. Some of these people are "trying" these streets and testing this mess out.

  • Look@m3

Yeah I'm starting to believe in this Global Warming theory too...After I saw that frozen flood a couple of weeks ago and the fact it snowed in Savannah GA as well...smh...This "aint" right!

  • hottlanta

Inside chilling and partying. Got my cereal milk/hot dogs/chili and most importantly a lot of people lights are still on. I wearing the remote out.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMQmUSgBT5Q

  • Guest©

Ok, I'll have to take your word on that. I'm in the Northeast and half the time you can't even shovel your car out of the snow to get anywhere. I'm a public servant so unfortunately I am expected to be at work regardless of weather, smh.

  • Guess Who

2 inches, huh and damn near the entire city closes down?

    LOL

  • takenaback

Many moons ago I remember walking to schools up to my knees in snow there was no buses. Southside heck I don't remember the schools closing that much. I am a southerner now and the snow comes it puts a smile on my face and I stay my butt at the house. We hut down too plus we are under curfew.

  • Holler If Ya Hear Me

These kids are out of school more than they are in. Its ridiculous. I am from NY and this is nothing. Atlanta needs to improve their road operations because this could all be cleared if there was a snow removal/ salting plan. Instead they leave it to turn into ice and wait for it to melt over the next couple of days.

  • Look@m3

Sigh, let it gooooo let It goooo (in my froze voice)
No matter what, everytime GA have snow Northerners are always going to have a problem with a shut down. Just chop it up as they have to go to work and we don't. I'd purposely not understand and be mad too just to, to be honest. JS.

  • CaramelDrop

My parents ruled with a iron fist - we weren’t allowed to have a opinion, be stressed, or question ish. If we did, switches, lip slaps and extension cords came soon after. That made me very rebellious and make bionic mistakes that could’ve been avoided with dialogue and understanding. Sooooo, I TRY to cut them some slack. They know their limits though..... I’ll flip with no warning lol

  • Look@m3

Totally understood but I'm not referring to these people. I understand that Doctors have to be available for those people who want to go for a joy ride in this weather...someone has to nurse them back together.

  • Look@m3

I have family members in the medical field and I understand they have to be to work rain sleet or snow but I guess I should have put a disclaimer on what I observed on the news this morning. A true Atlantan will enjoy the snow by building a snowman and throwing some snow balls...or gliding down hills on toilet seats, but some of these people out here popping wheelies in their cars for the fun of it.

  • Yardgirl

Damn, they do SUCK!! Be safe out there!!

  • Queen B

    Lol true

  • Look@m3

Yeah I would hate to be there. I have co workers from NY, Detroit and Pittsburgh that's always talking about how they don't miss shoveling 6 inches of snow every morning to either go to school or work and I never thought about that until this conversation with them. I couldn't even imagine having to do that every morning.
But I have a question that I never thought of before. Since I hear that most people in NY take the train do you think that's the reason the city never considered shutting down during these times? Because with a population like that in NY I would think it would be better to shut down. Also with the advancement of technology hopefully more companies or jobs would be willing to allow Telework in these conditions because it really is useful.

  • Mark mcharm

is this an early April fools joke that shut down a city? what would happen if it were 11 inches a bomb shelter.

  • OvertheMississippi

Sho’ did!! Big ups FULTON and HENRY BOE!!

  • Nathan Hastings

Are y'all still getting paid when the city shuts down?

  • Prettybootnikki

I’m in Houston and today is the second day of shut down due to ice. Today is my birthday too!! Happy birthday to me!!

Meanwhile i'm at work in 8 inches

  • SayWhatNow?

Here in Augusta, GA we had an 2 hour school delay for snow flurries that melted before they hit the ground. Now the sun is out and I was late to work for nothing!

  • my view

I'm in CT and this is funny to me. Nothing closed today

  • SayWhatNow?

I wish, the inches part not the work part. They will shut the city down in a minute! I need to see some real damn snow and some days off!

    Happy Birthday Late Capricorn.

  • SayWhatNow?

Because they already drive like a bat out of hell in Atlanta, mix that with ice and snow and it will be a big ole cluster f$%K!

I remember when the East Coast hardly got any snow. My first year at Howard U they had 3 inches of snow and the city was shut down for THREE days! I LMAO..I was used to 10 and 12 inches of snow at least in Chicago! That was a fluke because for my remaining years...NO SNOW. Now, the east coast is like the midwest! Some winters worst..smh

And when it started snowing in the southern states??!!...I knew global warming was the real deal...smh

  • Ghost

LOL !!! And you know It! Wrap up, hope you get here safely because EVERYTHING is open for business....still LOL

  • Jorjapeach

    Happy Birthday!!!!!

  • hottlanta

We are still holding. I have called everyone. Hope they come back on soon. Get your candles out. I have mine's in my bedroom lines up ready to go. My grandson wants to go out and play in the snow worrying Lil Hots to death. Hope they come back on soon. The trouble is the ice on the streets. I still remember the snow storm in April where the tree hit a generator and all the lights went out for 3 days. What made it so bad we had all trees down on all the roads and folks couldn't come get me and we couldn't get out. Our community brothers pulled them grills out knocked on the door and told us to bring the meat so they can cook it so it wouldn't spoil. Chile we turned that snow storm to a party. Love my people. We always come through.

  • hottlanta

Low tax state got common sense. That ice ain't no joke. Then if the bus skid off the road and a child get's hurt everybody ready to sue.

  • hottlanta

Yep. A lot of accidents this morning. Glad I got my run in last night so I can sit in and eat like a fat rat today. Can't wait for my hotdog and Hormel chili hour.

    Thank you ??

  • Yardgirl

Global warming is REAL!! When I heard it was snowing down south, I could not believe my ears. I am in CT and am used to 2 to 3 ft at a time, even as much as 4 ft after a blizzard. We went years with not much and then a couple of years ago it started up again. The struggle is real lol

  • klwbaby

    Enjoy your food!!!!??

  • jeniefrumdabloc™

A huge one chile... ? right on... ???

  • jeniefrumdabloc™

Absolutely not from here... They be actually from the states that are use to snow ROFL.... Get down here and think they can drive the same way they do up north... It's the foreigners having the accidents ... My peach azz and most peaches sitting at home eating and cooking...

  • country57

Happy Birthday!! :):) Enjoy your day!!

  • Ozad

I'm from Michigan where we dont blink an eye at 3 inches of snow..but after visiting Atlanta i see why you all freak out, you all don't salt your roads quickly, that makes them icy.. then you all have hilly and steep roads which would be hazardous if there icy and slippery

  • Ozad

that's it.. they don't salt the road for ice, plus many streets are steep and hilly not conducive to icy roads

  • You Could Never

    Happiest one!

  • Desiree

Im from NYC so its the same for us - 2 inches is nothing. I think its the south period because VA shuts everything down too with 2 inches of snow.. They are not used to snow and are not equipped to deal with it like we are. If you don't shovel or salt 1-2 inches of snow, it will be a disaster once it freezes...

  • Look@m3

    My point exactly!

  • Quitedeliteful

Lots of folks definitely work from home and the transit system has been running pretty much without a hitch during these snowstorms. I came into the office during these storms and had no problem once I got to the train station. My trains were on time... It takes damn near an avalanche for them to close the train stations. If it's really really bad they may close early...

  • NicoleZee

Because the people that manage the city are dumb as f*ck. I'm from Atlanta but I live in Michigan for a few years. I remember being in college there and standing at the bus stop with frostbite when there was 6 inches of snow on the ground! I adapted quick to the cold up there because I love colder weather. I am enjoying this weather in Atlanta though, but I find it weird that southerners act like the world is ending just because it snows! Strange.

  • NicoleZee

Me, me! I'm here in Atlanta and from here. I know how to drive though, but since my car accident, driving is not a priority, I only do it if I have to. I'd much rather get a Lyft or ride MARTA! I totaled a car 2 years ago, worst experience of my life.......and they say it was my fault! My memory from that night never came back :(. Most people in Georgia drive like they're on crystal meth or LSD!

  • NicoleZee

Nope, spend a day in traffic court. Exhausting. People here drive like shit, regardless of being local or not. I wish more people would use MARTA if possible, but most people with cars want to drive and then bitch and moan about traffic. I don't get it. Some people can work or live down the street from a MARTA station or bus stop and they still will not use public transportation. My car accident woke me up pronto, driving is NOT my strong suit!

  • Karen Brady

????. If you don't shut your mouth talking bout some damm Hormel. I am on the floor.

  • HalleMerry

So happy that I work from home! Between Amazon,Instacart, and Uber eats my a$$ is in hibernation.I need to move back to Cali,Chicago weather Is a Beast! Hot as FAWK or Cold as FAWK...no in between?

  • rere

Maybe its time for Southern states to invest in salt to have on standby for these situations, especially since they are occurring more & more.

  • Ryan

And I got a paid day off from work thanks to those two inches of snow. I'm good!!

  • jeniefrumdabloc™

who delivering .... I walked to the corner store and it was mess earlier folks left their cars on the street ....??? me I strolled right pass their azz ? like.. ?

  • Li

^^This. We live in Chicago and 2 inches of snow and ice don't shut down nothing in Chicago. We just keep on going.

  • i troll it like i see it

I'm in Texas and it didn't even snow, it just got real cold and a little icy, and the whole city freaked the eff out and stayed home from work. Police told people to stay at home...It's really weird.

  • STEELERS

That's not weird, it's common sense. Houston has 115 feet tall highway overpasses. The roads were icy from the freezing temperatures, a vehicle could easily slide off an overpass on a iced road. That combined with the fact that Texans are clueless when it comes to driving on snow and iced roads makes for a deadly combination. There were over 300 serious accidents reported on Tuesday alone in Houston. That should tell you something.

  • RICHIE_RICH

They want. Hell we pray for days like this ?????. This is hotlanta not chiberia

  • RICHIE_RICH

    Yep , it’s a weather day!!!

  • RICHIE_RICH

Chile we been full. Psa stay where u at. If you didn’t come by 2005 you missed the train. ?????. It’s funny watching the people from the northeast and Midwest sliding all over the place, but there’re use to it ??

  • i troll it like i see it

    I'm not in Houston.

  • WutizstillHERE!

I see your point buut..where I am from..no trucks came down our streest to salt or brine. only the highways. The main streets would clear by just volume of drivers. I think that assumption that the investment isn't worth it is inaccurate.. how much does a life cost to the city to save? And seeing that the trend has favored in the past 5 years that a few day out of the year we will experience a snow covering why not make the investment? Last night I heard them say there were thousands of accidents last night.. the damage is not worth the taxes you pay to keep the roads safe? It is apples to apples when it comes to side streets and neighborhoods. Now the highway is just poor planning at this point. How many years in a row do we as taxpayers have to wonder if the city is going to do precautionary steps when the weather man says there may be ice and snow? I would rather have my taxes go to extra salt and trucks than to get injured in a car accident because its not there..

  • WutizstillHERE!

Yes I know luv.. I was just writing so people can see what it is they are saying with the words "Its not the snow its the ice" when snow is a form of ice.

  • WutizstillHERE!

Umm..Blaque what is snow made of.. LOL girrrrrll Nevermind let me help you out silly:
Snow is formed when temperatures are low and there is moisture in the atmosphere in the form of tiny ice crystals. When these tiny ice crystals collide they stick together in clouds to become snowflakes. If enough ice crystals stick together, they'll become heavy enough to fall to the ground.
Now before you comment again please research. I don't make idle comments without facts..lol..chile..lol..snow isn't ice I am cracking the Whole fuck up right now!!! https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/bb4264f7d4d7227830d50436ebc02fe52f854ab6633bc6dbb91c04c30c8efcd0.gif

  • WutizstillHERE!

Yeah girl. I think because it, in the past, hadn't been such a big deal. I remember days of winter years back when we got sprinkles of snow but nothing that really stuck around. now this is a whole new game and they aren't ready to play...

  • WutizstillHERE!

I heard the engine rev and saw that back tire spin and I knew what was next. The other funny thing I saw was when they are on a hill and hit a patch they sit and spin compressing the area more warming it and making it more slick. let it roll back away from that area and slowly cut around it you can't go forward when there is no traction there..

  • Renee26

Smh...see I would u-turn and go back home LOL

  • Boogie79

The drivers manual + instructors and everyone else that has experience can tell a person what to do but all of that goes out the window when all of sudden hit black ice and panic years later.

I'm in Va, have driven in snow and know to slow my behind down no matter the size of the vehicle and turn with the ice and lightly press brakes. These idiots here buy these big pickup trucks thinking ish is sweet only to slide and cause more damage because they soup up the trucks with all these bars and rails. But don't put weight in their back end to keep the trailer from spinning.

  • 4FlavorsOfMe CreoleMami

    Ikdr lol

  • Blaque Mahogany

I learned this in first grade and although that was about 20 yrs ago...

Snow and ice are not the same thing. Snow is a form of ice. Ice is simply frozen water. Period. Ice can be seen/found in any season and is wholly dependent on temperature. Snow on the other hand is tiny ice crystals that fall to the earth (as a result of the atmosphere) ONLY in the Winter. Snow has space and air (isn't as solid as ice). Ice does not. It is solid.

They are both water. But they are not the same. This is Bill Nye The Science Guy level information.

  • Boogie79

Exactly, in VA the neighborhoods have cars parked on each side of the road, making a narrow street even narrower. Couple that with ice and snow, buses couldn't make it through the neighborhoods if they tried without property damage. People have to understand infrastructure was placed when snow was an anomaly. Even now, it's not like we are getting this every year. Last year it snowed in VA over the weekend and was gone by Monday afternoon.

  • Blaque Mahogany

I forgot all about the narrow azz one-way streets in VA. Without snow and ice it was a dang headache.

  • WutizstillHERE!

Sooo are you arguing my point as accurate or nah or are you reading what you are typing..Ice is ICE. Water can only take on 3 forms liquid solid gas period. the solid no matter the FORM is ICE. Snow is not a gas.. snow is not a liquid, so the only thing snow can be by law of nature is..ICE..You keep saying its a form of ice but not ice? UMMMWHET?!!

  • Blaque Mahogany

    Girl, you got it.

  • SmithyPooh

Im right here and im not complaining. Me and the family are full, safe and I have plenty of leave to assure bills get paid. ??

  • rere

I live in Ohio?? 2 inches of snow is only a dusting, cthu

  • http://batman-news.com Roderick2011

They don't believe in global warming so purchasing said equipment would be an implicit admission that it exists.

  • http://batman-news.com Roderick2011

    But Houston is in Texas.

I find it funny and weird that people who live in huge states tend to just mention the state and not the city.

  • i troll it like i see it

Well maybe I didn't want to put my business out there like that! Tuh!
