Monique and Sidney Hicks

Bitter comedian and actress Mo'Nique is still on the warpath after asking her social media followers to boycott Netflix for offering her $500,000 to perform her standup comedy routine in a TV special.

Mo'Nique accused the online streaming giant of gender and race discrimination. She argued that other comics such as Chris Tucker and Amy Schumer were offered millions for their Netflix specials.

Now Mo'Nique is coming for TV Guru Oprah Winfrey, whom she has blamed in the past for having her blacklisted in the industry.

During Mo'Nique and Sidney's relationship show on Wednesday, the 50-year-old 'Precious' star wondered aloud whether Oprah is really down for black women.

“The black women are saying yeah yeah yeah but let me ask y’all a question. when does she ever rally behind us? What award show does she get up on the stage and say hashtag MeToo?”

Mo also thanked fellow Baltimore native Jada Pinkett-Smith for publicly supporting her in her fight for equal pay.

In the past, Mo'Nique has accused Oprah, Tyler Perry and Lee Daniels of badmouthing her to movie studios and ruining her career.

Tyler Perry and Oprah don't have that much power in Hollywood lol.. They rich, but they can't tell multi-billionaire dollar organizations not to hire Monique if they believe she can make them money lol.. I think she 100% incorrect with that allegation. But I support her with everything else.

  • ?Sugar&Spice?

No one cares, Mo. Go fight your own battles. Be the big woman you claim to be.

  • Lanegra??

I just don't understand why she wasn't hooping and hollering about her own city. Baltimore stays in turmoil. Bottom line she doesn't care about the cause, she cares about her coin.

Im so tired of this lady IDKWTFTD

I don't know when Oprah supported black women exactly. Maybe when she actively promoted Precious, or when she hired black directors, producers and actors for her network's original series like Greenleaf and Queen sugar, just to name two. Or maybe by being a great example of what one can achieve. I don't know Monique, you are not working anymore after all this.

  • Knocked Kneed and Pigeon Toed

Monique is pretty much shooting herself in the face at this point. Oprah is the wrong one to come for. Oprah was monumentous in supporting Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Patti Labelle, and Viola Davis just to name a few. On top of her having her own TV network aimed for black woman. Monique your cries are falling on deaf ears boo MOVE ON!!!

  • You Could Never

He is smirking as if to say I run this show. Well that is what I said in my mind.

  • Junkanoo

Monique is teaching a master class on what not to do how will this help her find work she wants to fight everyone instead of writing new material and heading out on tour shes just whining endlessly which is best done in private

  • http://thedevereauxshow.com/ Ms.Devereaux

I fell completely out at that point!!

  • Chaseboogie The Prince

She is so obsessed and angry at Oprah. She really needs to let it go. The last time she had a film out, 'Black Butterfly or Black something,' she went in on Oprah. People were telling her to tell the truth about Oprah, on and on. Now years later, she's back on Oprah. She really wants Oprah to call her and apologize for something, but Oprah refuses. Monique is stuck emotionally. She is angry and feels she deserves 'something' from 'somebody' so she keeps pulling the old, 'they did this to me' role. It is played out and now people are just sick and tired of her. I doubt if any one is going to come to her rescue because she keeps beating the same drum and playing the same song. The public has moved on from her beef with Oprah, but she hasn't.

  • Phillybruh

Mo's problem is she thinks she shouldn't have to go out and get these things. She's Monique the most awarded comedian ever auditioning is beneath me.

  • Noirluv45

Mo is cutting off her nose to spite her face.

  • RespectSelf

People are so weak now. Nobody wants folks to b direct about stuff AT ALL. It's a popularity contest for folks. While I don't really care... who am I to tell someone else that they need to settle for less than their worth??? who am I to tell someone that they can't speak their truth..That makes no sense.. But folks are predisposed to hating truth and loving lies.

I think the stats were interesting. People still wouldn't care though.

  • pecancandy

Does Oprah even know who Monique is?
Does her husband have her in these streets looking looney?
    Is she the next Tyrese?
Did she fall victim to the Oscar curse?
    When was her last movie?
Does her husband have a job?

  • MsPam

Can I borrow that from grandma?! lol

  • JRock

Okay, let me wrap my head around this -- again.

Monique is asking people to boycott Netflix on her behalf not because they did something to you or I but because she feels low-balled by their salary offer. Am I right so far? Did Monique offer to pay anyone's mortgage/rent or car note? I don't think she did. Am I still right so far?

In the wake of the gub a ment shut down did Monique mail out rebate, refund or retribution checks to anyone? I didn't get mine. Did you get yourn? Didn't think so. Okay, I think I'm still right so far. So I ask you and everyone else. Why in the hell should I/we boycott Netflix because she ain't getting paid. Like I said before, Mo. Pull up those big ass drawers, act like a big girl and shut the hell up. No one is coming for you, love.

  • RespectSelf

well that's how they carry other folks... I think her thing is hey I worked hard... I got the same awards... but yall treating me different and I don't like it. A lot of folks in the business feel the same way... just got that yes sir, no sir mentality.

There's a few outcomes... maybe somehow it changes, she accepts what they offering her, or she gives it up completely. That's her journey... she'll figure it out.

  • Knocked Kneed and Pigeon Toed

    Very true!!!

  • MsPam

It’s a pimp and hoe relationship!

  • SweetTEE

I can dig Mo on certain things...but it's like she's missing a lesson most people learn by her age..if someone doesn't help you, that doesn't make them wrong or you right- just do for your damn self. All this talking, just create your own lane. Finance, produce, and star in your own comedy show. That makes a point. Never let mofos feel like you need them.

  • Phillybruh

Tyrese apparently has learned to shut up.

  • BadAss Will

The more she talk the more I feel like $500,000 was more than she is worth. Oprah not the only one who hasn't "supported" you. Your a nasty ass person. No one wanna be associated with you. The only talk show would invite you on is Wendy Williams and Maury Povich. Please shut up and and go away.

  • Gloria

    It's applicable to many situations . ??

  • Juslv374

I agree with Mo, but I also feel she is going about this the wrong way. She's being ill advised by that husband of hers. I hope after he finishes destroying her carreer, finances and opportunities, he doesn't try to leave her. This is crazy, everyone will be afraid to do business with her.

  • pecancandy

    Thank God!

  • JennyJazzhands

Ever since she exposed her own receipts that proved that she was lying about Lee Daniels giving her the role of cookie, I have no need to listen to anything else. Once proven a liar, I'm good.

  • Phillybruh

Meryl Strep doesn't have to audition, Julia Roberts possibly. But the rest of them have to read for those parts. When she brings in 1 billion dollars with her movies then this attitude is warranted. Octavia Spencer is always working those could have been Monique's roles but she play too much.

  • hotntot95

Mo is too impulsive. She doesn't give herself time to think rationally about situations. I think she played this whole Netflix situation the wrong way. • Breitbart_Savior

Oprah has never used her platform to talk about pay inequality for black women in Hollywood. Isn't that what we're talking about?

Harpo producer shows for 1. Dr. Phil 2. Rachel Ray 3. Dr. Oz, and it wasn't until OWN came into play and Inyanla Vazant practically apologized on her knees before Oprah produced a show for her.

And from there combined story, the only reason Inyanla didn't initially get a show is because Barbara Walters offered her a show and Inyanla brought it back to Harpo as a bargaining tool

  • iWasteTime

When had Mo'nique helped black women?
What do black women get out of boycotting Netflix to get her more pay?
I'm sure Oprah's list of accomplishments have been listed below, up to and included to keeping black actors, directors, producers, employed!! Ask the working black actors of Queen Sugar what she's done for them.

  • You Could Never

Do you know how many folks disappear into absolute obscurity or damn near...after an Oscar win? Its lists and lists of folks who NEVER replicate that sucess EVER again. Hillary Swank. Adrien Brody. Marlee Matlin. The list is LONG and DEEP. Mo better take a number.

  • Breitbart_Savior

African girls who aren't working in Hollywood. But that's the topic ... Black actress pay inequality.

  • RespectSelf

she talking about pay though.... I'm sure Hillary got a good bump in pay for her next role.

    __________________________________________
I would never tell someone to settle, but if you believe you are worth more, move on to the next. Wanda Sykes was offered even less, but instead of bitching, she moved on and garnered a multi-million dollar deal with Epix. With her blaming everyone else she's going to make it even harder for herself to make deals, because people won't want to work with her.

  • Kayke

Who else is going to offer you $500,000, hell even $5.00 to do anything? Monique's big mouth and intent to talk about everybody has cost her money an jobs....this is a true episode of "when keeping it real, goes wrong".

  • takenaback

No_ Sandra Rose get your facts straight. She never said that Oprah blacklisted her. She explained what Oprah did to her on her show after befriending her and them sharing what happened to them in her childhood. She informed her that her mother would be on the show. But, had a sneak attack of her brother who she stated molested her be on there too. I don't know about you but. That is low down as hell. So don't miss quote her and take things out of context. She said that Lee Daniels told her she was blacklisted but little did she know that it was that Queen who did the set up. Probably because she didn't give him a direct accolade.

  • Phillybruh

I guess she can't sell this comedy special to own now...lol

  • You Could Never

She may not have talked about equal pay for folks in Hollywood but she did stand up for equal pay for her staff. B/c the last time I checked...Oprah is a journalist. Who SOMETIMES...acts.

I get that part of it. But doesn't mean it's right. So yes, she probably could have gotten several roles had she just accepted what was offered to her. If I ask anybody if they think someone should get more money for films after an Oscar win... Folks will say yes without thinking about. The mentality that folks want her to have is sad... and unfortunately is applied to a lot of other situations.

  • Trace da Ace

And this is why Monique is in the shit pool that she is in.....stop coming for folks who has he power and potential to help you!!! What she think....folks are going to boycott Oprah now??? smdh.....

  • Phillybruh

I never said she shouldn't get more money, but an Oscar win doesn't mean she doesn't have to put in that work. She may have to accept a role that she doesn't really care for until How to Get Away with Murder comes along. She could have been in a much different place career wise had she taken one of these roles she thought was beneath her.

Oprah ain't got time for Monique or the country. Plus she been to the White House and it will never be glamorous enough. Believe that.

I don't like her husband. She looks crazy as all get out (literally) and he seems very controlling. I cannot with her right now. Get your 500K that any regular person would love to have and sit down somewhere until things get better.

  • SweetTEE

Exactly, she has a darn Oscar (I think) and she did work a lot in the past before Precious.. Building wealth so she wont have to depend on folks and branding herself should of been the main goal...I know its mine. I'm not waiting on anyone to help me, Ima take MINE.

Last thing I saw her in was Bessie a few years ago and she was great in that. She is too talented to not work again, but she has to be realistic about her marketability and the Economics 101: Supply and Demand. Her Husband is blowing up her head and feeding her unrealistic expectations. Know your worth but humble herself. Collect that $500k and kill it. Then based on that success, you demand more like a Schumer (who at that time was coming off of the # 1 movie in America, Train Wreck and sold out The Garden). Chris Rock and Chappelle are guaranteed money in the bank. They are still stand-up (not movie) comedy gold.

  • Sister Hazel

She was great in Bessie- of course so was Queen Latifah

    Puleeze.

Monique is like a person with a GED crying about not being paid the same salary as a world famous cardiologist.

Monique is someone who prefers to play the victim and blow hot air rather than deal with life.

That's why they paid him the big bucks.

  • Jacquelyn Eff

Take the $500k. Kill it. Justify why you should be paid more. Pave the way for your future. Or. Promote a smear campaign. Burn bridges. Stay broke.

If she truly believes what she says, I give her props for having big balls in the entertainment industry. At this point , she's pretty much blacklisted in Hollywood .

  • Willetta
  • AListDiva29

Studio's pay based on popularity, among other things. Her fame has kind of waned since she won an Oscar 8 years ago. While I definitely don't think it's fair, women and colored women get paid substantially less, u have to ask yourself...does her reputation for being difficult have anything to do with her pay?

  • Kayke

I was being nice saying "meh" because I like Chris T.
I did expect more from his special and he didn't deliver.

  • klwbaby

But she knew it was a popularity contest when she came into this industry. Correct me if I'm wrong but her comedy routine was about being fat and not caring because she knew she could be successful in this skinny dominated industry. And why does she need to speak negatively about Oprah a black female but then asked when was the last time Oprah has done anything for black women. I personally feel u don't have to put down someone in order to prove a point.

  • AListDiva29

He seems a little "How u doin?" to me! Haha

  • pecancandy

Do y’all think Will and Jada will give her the 5 million that they did not give Tyrese? With that money she can put out her own comedy special, make it a hit. Then approach Netflix like Diddy......take that!

  • pecancandy

    I miss him and Teena.

  • Phillybruh

Nah, Will got his own Netflix deal to maintain.

  • You Could Never

  • SumthinSweeter

True about Oprah. I can't ever really recall her being a beacon of leadership for the black community "directly" except for that girls school in Africa that had some type of criminal sexual assault issues going on.....oh and her Ms Sophia role will always be a classic amongst black folks. For some reason she seems to lean more towards pleasing her Caucasian fan base. Guess that's where the money is at and she has ton's of it soooooo....*shoulder shrug*.

  • SumthinSweeter

    lol

  • RespectSelf

So before commenting, I wanted to make sure my assumption was correct. It looks like she has a podcast with her husband where they talk about a lot of stuff. They seem to touch on things that is going on.

So they got stuff about Colin Kaepernich, Trump, Kim Burrel's comments on gays, Black lives matters, etc... So currently people been talking about Oprah running for president and she gave a "real" thoughts".

All I'm going to say is that guy from Subway was a whole pedophile behind close doors. We do not know Oprah or how she get down behind the scenes. We DO NOT know how she treat any and everybody. All we know is the image that is put out there.

Clearly Mo'Nique got a different side of her lol.

  • DaughterOfaQueen

    This shyt done consumed her.

  • NYTimes#1Bestseller

Monique has LET HERSELF GO!! She looks and sounds like ?!!!

  • Oretta Grace Smith

Wonder how come Her husband couldn't show her that!!!

  • RespectSelf

On a serious note... I would really like for someone to tell me what she does for the black women. I have seen the support Dr.Phil, That other health doctor, and Tyler P.

I'm not sure what her support for black women or lack there of has anything to do with her being president though..

  • Jygalo

Girl bye. Her and Tyrese and that constant hand out for being blk is why blk folks stay behind now. No ma’am! Oprah doesn’t own you a dang thing.

  • NicoleZee

Mo'Nique needs to have several seats and never get up again!! She's ungrateful, bitter, and just sad. Move on already damn. Her mistake was thinking that Oprah, Tyler, and the other gay dude that produces Empire were her friends. A smart person never puts their complete trust in anyone, so-called friends come and go. Trust yourself and be your own best friend. Furthermore, everyone knows Oprah prefers and caters to white women, this is not news. Worry about yourself; you can't have a peace of mind when you concern yourself with everyone else and what they do. At this point, I'm convinced that Mo'Nique needs mental heath treatment along with everyone else in Hollyweird. Sad.

  • Oretta Grace Smith

    Shhh, don't call him out

  • Jygalo

Whatever. The movies she’s done like Brewster place and their eyes were watching God etc etc are ALWAYS about blk folks. Y’all want a handout and she’s on some mogul ish. Gtfoh with that.

  • OP2

Right! O was not looking for Black folks to put give her a job on the news nor lift her up to stardom. She worked & reached out not badmouthed. -looks like Mo' need them way more than they will ever need her. She needs to pull herself up instead of obsessing over whether or not other Blacks are giving her a job. Look at how many Blacks are somehow making it. They are not feigning over Oprah getting them a job or not. She can do the same. Netflix was a start.

Then, have the nerve to wonder why no one is willing to help her. Tyler even tried to mediate and help, but to no avail. smh

  • NicoleZee

She is talented and Bessie was a pretty good movie. However, Mo'Nique behaves like an ungrateful, entitled child at this point. I am really disappointed in her. When she first came on the scene, people cheered to see an overweight black woman finding success. She had her own hit TV show and talk show for years. She has the skills and potential to be better, but when your attitude stinks, you can't expect people to support or rally around you. I would have taken the half a million and invested most of it to where I would have more money and more projects by also marketing myself the right way. At this point, she just needs to work for herself. I doubt if she ever gets a call from Steven Spielberg. Sad.

I would do what Netflix asked of me, and might gain some new fans and opportunities in the process. I can't stand ungrateful whining pieces of shit. There are people out here unemployed, homeless, and on the streets with kids and this water buffalo looking trick has the nerve to complain. GTFOHWTBS!!! Sickening!

  • Wreckognize Game

She seems to be bitter that people are rallying behind Oprah for president but won't stand with her and boycott Netflix. That meeting with Netflix probably went left as soon as those execs had the audacity to offer an Oscar winner $500,000. Did she counter-offer or anything or just walked out and ran to social media? She saying she let go of that offer because what will Tiff Haddish get? Tiff is getting an HBO deal because she had a team that negotiates

  • NicoleZee

Being outspoken is one thing, being an ungrateful POS is another. If you do not like where you work or do not like the pay, THEN LEAVE. You cannot force someone to hire you or pay you more. If you are dissatisfied in your profession or relationship, then go somewhere else. People who have been blessed with money and opportunities that others will never have do not have the right to complain about trivial bullshit like not being paid enough. WTF??? God didn't have to bless them. BE HUMBLE, BE KIND, BE GRATEFUL.

  • MiamiMoon

Handouts are an American Black mentality that is your culture not mine I am Afro-Latina.

  • Vonn

Right. Work hard in movie roles while fighting for equal pay. Keep your face out there. Hollywood is the king of what have you done for me lately. I've heard that she has been working the comedy circuit & maybe some plays, but being this behavior will not help her cause.

  • NicoleZee

A lot of black actresses have horrible attitudes, I hear that a lot. My uncle's wife is an actress (or so she says) and the more she got into the field, the worse her attitude got. I do not know why or see the need to be nasty for no reason. And yes, white actresses have attitudes too, but it seems like there are more women of color in the entertainment industry with horrific attitudes. I don't get it. Sad.

Which is why I find it a little hypocritical that Jada has jumped to Monique's defense. Pretty sure the check cleared from her husband's Netflix movie deal, which is a multi movie deal. They know damn well that Monique is not in the same league as Dave Chappell, Chris Rock, and even Amy Schumer even though she is relatively new. All things being equal, Monique should be paid equally, but they are not equal right now! Monique is not as relevant as she once was, she IS NOT the queen of comedy anymore and every time that fact is brought up, they deliberately tug on black folks heart strings, they deliberately TRIGGER us so she can get a knee jerk reaction from us. They are MANIPULATIVE! I will hand it to them, Sydney and Monique are good. They know just what to say, to get folks to question a situation that doesn't even need to be questioned! They use all the right words, call people cowards, say they are "bowing to the man" giving in to white folks, etc., they use emotionally triggering words in order to get people to campaign for her. If people can critically think about the situation, folks will see that she and Sydney are just narcissists of the highest order! She's asking when Oprah has done something for black people, are you kidding me? There are tangible examples of Oprah's philanthropy! When has SHE done anything for black people?!

Yes, she is an ungrateful POS. Just my opinion, just like you have yours. If you don't like the pay, then leave. I remember working a shitty job years ago where I was making less than $8 an hour. I hated the job, hated the pay. I never complained to the higher ups because I knew what I signed on for. So when I had my car accident, that was the perfect opportunity for me to leave and I never looked back. I was unhappy, depressed, and dissatisfied so I never went back! That is what a sane person does, why complain when you can just leave and go somewhere else that makes you happier and is more fulfilling??? There will always be someone who is willing to accept what someone else will not. There are people hungry, homeless, and working shitty jobs for a few bucks an hour and yet privileged people complain about not having more money. What in the entire hell??? • EntrepreneurialSpirit

Aight now auntie I'm going to pull up at Popeyes for my $5 big box and you're going to be handing me my food, keep it up.

What she trying to be the new Kanye?

  • Guest©

Mama always knows. I feel like the only way Mo can redeem herself is by divorcing her husband aka mouthpiece then claim he was manipulating her. He clearly has not helped her.

  • suganspice68

    Lol

  • Li

Here's Oprah's philanthropy. The woman has too much money, so why wouldn't she help people? She's all about giving money away. Screw Monique!
    https://www.looktothestars.org/celebrity/oprah
Oprah Winfrey is the most charitable celebrity – by a huge margin – giving away more than $40 million primarily through the Oprah Winfrey Foundation for causes including education and programs for women and children, according to a national philanthropic group.

  • Mrs. S. Kidd

I believe Mo was asking what has Oprah done for Black women....specifically, Black American women. Oprah's philanthropy is impressive though, no matter who she helps but she is very selective.

  • Mrs. S. Kidd

Oprah ain't no saint and don't nobody in here care about Oprah's feelings like that lol

  • Mrs. S. Kidd
  • Mrs. S. Kidd

The scholarship is for young Black males, not African-American females. I think Mo'Nique brought up a valid point but she's doing wayyy too much now lol

  • Mrs. S. Kidd

Oprah stated years ago right after opening up the school in South Africa that she didn't f**k with Black American children like that because all they wanted from her were Jordans. Her words, not mines lol And no, she's *never* did anything for Chicago schools or the Black Community in Chicago. Ask anybody from here.

  • Mrs. S. Kidd

I forgot all about that Bessie movie lol

  • Mrs. S. Kidd

Mo'Nique used to visit penitentiaries and perform free comedy for the female inmates. One of her comedy specials years ago was her doing comedy at a woman's prison.

  • Mrs. S. Kidd

Yes, Oprah knows Mo'Nique and actually had Mo'Nique's *whole* family on the Oprah Winfrey Show years ago.

  • Mrs. S. Kidd

How much money? Notice nobody put figures on it. They just said she got a deal of some sort. Don't be fooled lol

  • Li

If you want to know how a for-real charitable, smart comedian is like, watch Tiffany:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiKK9iZy-VQ

  • Li

WHAT has Mo' done for black women specifically. Can you name ONE thing, besides doing comedy in prison, that MO has done?

  • Mrs. S. Kidd

Idk. She purchases random fans stuff.

  • NYTimes#1Bestseller

    ????

  • Dowoop

You need an android box... So much better than a firestick

  • Mrs. S. Kidd

It's too soon to be giving Tiffany Haddish this kind of praise. As for this video, Tiffany Haddish grew up in Southern California but she's donating to Eritrea bc the dad she didn't quite know is from there? What sense does that make? lol I'm sure some young Black girls in So Cal could relate wayyyy more to her than Eritreans.

  • IChosetheBrownDollbaby

I'm sure that husband has something to do with it.

  • Mrs. S. Kidd

S/O to Auntie Sandra. You're making your coints this week with these multiple Mo'Nique posts. I ain't mad at ya. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/7ab65beb94fe9fe7f2ac14602a908f30d0b76f45ab879e7010e46d7f2c538dd4.gif

    You just don't comprehend.

  • SDot

Imma need Monique to at least stop looking like she's still filming Precious. Lawd....she look busted and that hairline of grays....Girl

  • Mrs. S. Kidd

Nah, I comprehend. You're trying to compare a newbie to a vet. Every dog has its day. Mo'Nique was well-liked early on to. Things change. Let Ms. Haddish live long enough to see tables turn.

  • hottlanta

For one black woman she took a sorry azz man off the street into her home. Thank you Mo.

  • hottlanta

    Yep.

  • Wreckognize Game

  • BloodBlood

DIE B ITCH DON'T TALK ABOUT OPRAH!!!!

  • NicoleZee

Um, but if you are an Afro-Latina, you are still black so I'm confused. Even if you were not born here in the U.S., a person that is half black half Hispanic is still black, racially speaking, while their ethnicity remains Hispanic.

  • OvertheMississippi

Monique, please go far, far away!!! ??????

  • Mrs.Meenie

I think Mo’Nique done jumped out the window on this one...Please correct me if I am wrong...but didn’t Oprah build a school for BLACK girls in Africa? ?

  • Applebum

Monique says she’s ok if she never get another job in Hollywood. I’m all for standing up for what’s right. We all have our own journey in life to take. Maybe God is using her to shed lights on some things. If God is for you, who can be against you? God can open so many more doors. I see people are worrying about her hair, we are used to fake everything, it bothers some people to see someone in hollyweird aging gracefully. There’s nothing wrong with her gray hairs. She doesn’t need to color it with these chemicals. We focus too much on appearance than on our problems. It’s fine if you’re not going to boycott Netflix but why boast about it? Why air it out on social media for others to see? That’s why we will never win this battle, they can see how we are not supportive of one another. And that’s why they will continue to mistreat us and lowball us every time.

  • Nathan Hastings

I think that she is being held captive

  • MsPam

    Thank you!

  • SumthinSweeter

Ok. That's nice :) My feelings are unchanged though but thanks!

  • 90’sBawdy

Someone needs to ask Monique that very question.

  • dontgetblocked

Oprah is shady. She made Rachel Ray and Dr.Phil into household names. Where are the black people she helped? BTW, Tyler Perry helped save her network not the other way around.

  • Lorenzo Chaps

She's a comic first, so she'll always be ok in terms of working. There isnt a promoter who wouldn't work with Mo'Niquie to put together a comedy tour. BTW, her suburban Atlanta mansion is on the market currently for slightly over $2M.

  • Lorenzo Chaps

lol. By her husband? Well, she can always blame all this on him if they ever break up for real. Itll work and will be her best comeback story. I do think she should co-manage with an industry manager. Netflix is major. No way should she simply have walked away from that opportunity.

  • Lorenzo Chaps

    black. Africa.

  • bashi

We all know she’s does philanthropy works it also help her with her taxes. Oprah is no saint so don’t swear for these entertainer

  • KcoolMuziq

Oprah HELPED Gayle! She has her own co-host spot on CBS This Morning and U know she wouldn't have gotten that spot without Oprah as a reference. Not to mention Iyanla Vanzant who was completely broke. She also bought her a mansion and completely furnished it.
    #TEAMMO'NIQUE

  • Get a job Sydney!

I’ve listened to her rants and she doesn’t necessarily tell any lies. She just needs to do something more productive with her time and find a way to have a more productive life. She’s running herself crazy over what she can’t change. Say the serenity prayer Mo’Nique and move on. Your parents should have taught you nobody gives a f***! about your feelings cause you’re really out here looking crazy. Your husband also needs to get a job!

  • Ms Thang

Why didn't you post the video of her husband crying????

  • Coco_Butter

Wrong!!! Oprah has been supporting Gayle since forever lol.

  • Ms Thang

Both of them are having one. I saw the whole video and he's crying harder than Tyrese

  • Bonita

    LOL

  • Yup, I said it

Monique thinks she's too big of a star for that opportunistic husband to leave her but he only stays because she lets him have other women, otherwise she would be in the same boat as Sheree Shephard, Mary J Blige, Terry McMillan, Star Jones, and soon to be Wendy Williams. The worst thing an already successful woman can do is put her man in charge of her career.

  • Yup, I said it

Oprah put Fantasia on Broadway too.

  • Yup, I said it

Monique has a bitter angry look on her face. That husband looks like he's just happy to be getting some shine

  • IamAllnatural

Mo’Nique has too much time on her hands asking what has Oprah done? We’ve all seen how giving Oprah is to alot of people. But I never hear about Mo’Nique helping anyone but her husband.
Mo’Nique is too loud & not really funny. So no you do not deserve equal pay to Chris Tucker!

  • Yup, I said it

I don't think Oprah cares about ur thoughts, sweetness. Oprah will still be rich, Monique will still be unemployed and your thoughts will still be the same and the world will continue to go around.

  • Jygalo

    ???

NO ONE IS TRYING TO JUMP ON A LOUD MOUTH, ALWAYS TALKING ISH, SELF DESTRUCTIVE, IT'S ALWAYS SOMEONE ELSE'S FAULT PERSON'S SINKING SHIP!!!! WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME WE SAW MONIQUE DOING ANYTHING PLEASANT? EVERYTIME IT'S SOME WHINING ISH ABOUT HER NOT GETTING MONEY OR ENOUGH OF IT. HELL WE CAN ALL HAVE THAT ARGUMENT. SOMEONE CONSTANTLY COMPLAINING, TALKING ISH, CALLING OUT & HATING ON SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE, A SOUR PUSS ALL THE DANG TIME WILL START TO FALL ON DEATH'S EARS AND BE MUTED OUT. SHE IS A DEBBIE DOWNER. GO DO SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE AND MAKE YOUR OWN PATH SO YOU WON'T HAVE TO DEPEND ON ALL OF THE PEOPLE YOU HATE SOOOOO MUCH BUT STILL WANT A CHECK FROM. YOU SEE WANDA SIKES DIDN'T OPEN HER MOUTH ABOUT NETFLIXS UNTIL SHE SECURE HER A BAG SOMEWHERE ELSE. MONIQUE SHOULD'VE TRIED TO SAME AVENUE AND JADA CAN SPEAK B/C HAS A SUPER RICH HUSBAND SO SHE WORKS WHEN SHE WANTS, SHE AIN'T WORRIED ABOUT MONEY. THE MORE MONIQUE AND HER HORRIBLE MANAGER HUSBAND SPEAK THE LESS ANYONE IS GOING TO LISTEN SO ANY 'REAL MESSAGE' SHE HAS WILL GET LOST. SILENCE CAN BE GOLDEN..........JENNY JONES!!!

  • JennyJazzhands

She said she had proof that she was offered the role. She released an email between her and Lee's people that basically asked her if they could schedule a time for an audition. So she lied. Nowhere in her "proof" did it say or imply that the role was hers. It was a call to come audition, that's all. And that's when I realized she was delusional.

  • JENNYJONES1

AND NO ONE SHOULD TALK ABOUT MONIQUE'S APPEARANCE B/C MONIQUE DIDN'T MAKE A WHOLE CAREER OUT OF TALKING ISH ABOUT SKINNY OR FIT WOMEN FOR NOT BEING FAT PIGS LIKE SHE USE TO BE UNTIL SHE WANTED TO KEEP HER SLEEPING AROUND HUSBAND. LOL!!!!.........JENNY JONES!!!

  • Dr.Rue

Don't come for Oprah sis, I'm gonna stop defending your crazy assss

Oprah need to sue her. Tyler Perry called her and she talked about their conversation in a video. She's foul. She burns every bridge. Her husband has ruined her career

  • ValJ1975

This loud mouth, triple neck winch is doing too murch. She said when has Oprah ever helped black women? When has she never helped women? When has she ever talked down on black women and criticize them just like how she (Mo'Nique) is doing Oprah? She mad that Oprah won't help her undo what she has done to herself. Oprah don't give two shits and a fuck about Mo'Nique. She wants Oprah to take the bait and Oprah is paying her ass dust. Mo'Nique can't shame nobody into working with her or paying her what she thinks that she deserves. She and her over inflated ego along with inexperienced manager husband tanked her career. Not Oprah Winfrey, Lee Daniels, or Tyler Perry. This shit she's talking ain't about Oprah not helping black women. It's about getting Oprah to help her undue what she has done to herself. Mo'Nique needs to sit her ass down.

I wish these black women in entertainment would stay away from these Kendu types. This husband/manager/employee of hers is clearly influencing these rants. He looks shifty AF

  • RoniV

Agreed! I rode with Oprah until the first season of her network lineup in 2011 (OWN), which consisted of all nearly all white shows with the exception of Gayle King's talk show and "Party at Tiffany's". With shows like the Ryan and Tatum Oneal show, Anna and Kristina's grocery bag, Carson Nation, Dr Phil, Rachael Ray, The Rosie show, etc... her goal was to appeal to a specific demographic solely. Once she realized that group never forgave her for her support of Barack and failure to support racist azz Paula Deen she flipped the script and switched it up bringing in TP and adding black shows. She's an amazing woman in her own right, and has done many great things including the school in Africa, but I think many view her through rose colored glasses.

  • Tiffany Miller

Outside of her husband, her agenda, and how she feels about Oprah and Tyler, the BIGGER PICTURE is that WE DO NOT GET COMPENSATED FOR OUR ACHIEVEMENTS. I am with Jada Pinkett all day. Her argument is legitimate its just that the foundation it was built on is a little shady and unstable.

My mother supported my father RIGHT, WRONG, or INDIFFERENT because that was her choice and I don't see anything wrong with your partner standing beside you. Some women can't even get CHILD SUPPORT, let alone have ANY man decide to get on camera with them and be respected as such.

The bashing of Monique sends a clear message to the ESTABLISHMENT that WE AGREE to being UNDERPAID. They are watching us. And because we laugh, they will now laugh harder.

  • Tiffany Miller

You are intelligent. People are blinded by the success and fame of a person. I don't know Monique anymore than I do Oprah, and we don't know the truth. But I put nothing past any of them.

  • Skin Deep Beauty

What is Oprah SUPPOSE to do for black people? She come from the same grind, dirt and struggle as most of us. She endured fought and crawled. What did she do for the black community? She showed us how it's DONE. She don't owe my black arse NADA!!!

  • Skin Deep Beauty

BITTER AND A BLAMER... She EXPECTS and think she's OWED something! She MAD MAD .. she's offered roles and she makes demands! When her DEMANDS aren't met she makes outburst! Negotiations FAIL ALL THE TIME. Either accept the deal or find something better... In the entertainment industry you have to be sought after... If nobodys checking for you how do you expect a check... Her foolish azz rejected $500,000 as if she got folks beating down her door!!!

  • missmiami305

Don't nobody wanna see her comedy special. Girl bye ?

  • Quitedeliteful

If she keeps messing with the Big Three she will never work in Hollywood again... smh...

  • Doink_Ahanahue

I agree on the equal pay, but sometime the means to the end has to be adjusted.
In the corporate and even in the sports world, sometimes you take a little less and PROVE YOUR WORTH! Monique tarnished her own reputation by being too much of a diva and hard to work with vs. the value she brought. Now it's time to strap up the boots, dig in and prove that she is the valuable entertainer she claims. Take that money, do a killer show so that you become relevant and desired as an entertainer again, and THEN negotiate as a professional!
Downing others will NEVER get YOU props! It gets you ignored and left behind!

I was just going to say Iyanla but there are many more...just because people don't know about it and because she isn't broadcasting or taking credit for other people's success doesn't mean she hasn't helped black people. You can tell by Oprah's giving spirit and the way her employees talk about her that she is definitely not the type to broadcast her good deeds. I would never take the one sided word of a bitter person who is constantly downing other black women/men in the industry because she thinks they aren't helping her enough or they owe her something...it's not productive and it's negative. There are two sides to every story and just because the other side isn't all over the internet defending themselves doesn't mean what Mo'Nique is saying is true.

  • Quitedeliteful

I will never be without my android box. The best thing the Chinese ever made!!!

  • Quitedeliteful

I am never without that color stick!!!! Got one in my purse right now....

  • mona q

Thank you! AND Just because it is not on a website or talked about doesn't mean she hasn't done for black women...I remember back in 2012 she had put something like 500 black men through college and counting...as a black American woman, people REALLY don't think she has done for black American women?... She has given over 400 MILLION towards education/colleges of which I'm pretty sure that black women are benefiting from...SMDH...people just want to pick the side of the "under dog" I guess instead of being logical...this crab in the barrel mentality of "calling out" or "putting on blast" successful black people is not productive. I'm not picking a side, I just know that there is always another side to the agenda being portrayed. Oprah didn't get where she is today from stepping and fetching if anyone has watched her show over the years and her career ...she didn't get where she is today by bashing people, playing the victim and trying to bully them either...

  • mona q

She was only paid $50k because she was doing it for a friend...she said...she also said HBO paid her more than she has made her whole entire career for that one movie she did with Queen Latifah...I wonder why HBO hasn't given her a comedy special then...

  • hottlanta

She did ask and she did us a favor. All good deeds doesn't have to involve money. It can be physical.

  • mona q

Exactly! Trust me, her spewing negativity about Oprah has not bothered Oprah...she doesn't even need to justify this nonsense with any acknowledgment...she knows what she has done and the people she has helped knows...when you are not worrying about what other people say, you can just be silent.

  • mona q

I'm SO sick of people saying what did Obama do for the black community, what does Oprah do for black women...what does this black person do for "us"....what the hell do ya'll want them to do for you? What the hell did you EXPECT them to do for you that you are not doing for your damn self first? This mentality needs to stop. Just because you aren't aware of something that someone is doing doesn't mean it isn't happening but with a tiny bit of research, you can find some answers yourself. The bottom line is, stop knocking other black people because you didn't get the "hook up" directly...or in your eyes, they didn't do enough for the black community when you have NO possible way of knowing what the hell they have done as a whole...

  • mona q

I also get the strange feeling her and her husband live for this kind of drama...they thrive on it. Otherwise, they would be spending time making power moves instead of so called shaming people...Like I tell my sons, negativity will NEVER bring you anything positive...EVER.

  • Benita Renee’

    I totally agree!!

  • TheWildChild

?? you do realize "Precious" was a Film festival flick prior to The Big Screen adaptation ? which was backed by Oprah and Tyler financially. When this "Film" hit Theaters, she had much larger payday, courtesy of Oprah. Her mouth has stayed shit about that payday ???

  • OBAMA AIN’T SHT!

Obama did NOTHING but incite riots and racism...YT put him

  • Mrs. S. Kidd

You should look up the history of how Oprah got her show before you state she "fought her way to the top". The top was handed to her. She worked hard, of course but she didn't have to fight anything or anyone.

  • Mrs. S. Kidd

ROTFLMAO....and she supports Gayle's children *sips tea*

  • mona q

I DO actually realize that...I'm just stating what SHE said...and SHE is certainly quiet about a lot of things...and Lee Daniels was the Director and was the "friend" she speaks of...

Afro-Latinas acknowledge their African ancestry but we will never say the word Black that is an American term which will make us Black Women which we are not. When have you ever heard JuJu from love and Hip Hop use ther term Black never.I know Afro-Latinas born in the US and do not say the word Black.

  • NicoleZee

I think some people look at the terms African and black as one in the same sometimes based on race, not nationality. A person from South Africa, for example, might still be described as black, especially if they live in the U.S., and a black person from the U.S. might still be described as African American no matter where they live. I just thought that a person that has a black parent and a Hispanic parent would still be black racially and of course their ethnicity remains Hispanic. Things like this get confusing. I mostly go by the government and what they list on legal documents. Race, ethnicity, and nationality are all different, not one in the same like some people think. The only ethnicity they list is Hispanic or someone from Spanish origins I believe. I wonder what the 2020 census will have as far as race with so many people being of mixed race?? We will have to wait and see!

  • http://sandrarose.com SandraRose

  • Oya Shango

Oprah is directly responsible for reviving the career of Iyanla Vanzant. Even after Iyanla betrayed her, and ended-up falling on her butt, Oprah accepted her public apology and gave her another big break. Mo'nique ask what has Oprah done for Black women? But, I ask what has Black women done for Oprah, esp when she was breaking her buns trying to make it in an all white world of journalism? In other words, that question goes both ways. I am hardly a fan of Oprah and have many issues with some of her methods. But, she is truly self-made, and she is under no obligation to do anything for anyone.

  • Layah Jhene

And no one is obligated to Oprah. Oprah, just like any other celeb, ain't nothing without the people's support.

  • takenaback

You need to stop with your back handed comments. It is so obvious that most of you bloggers have not listened to Monique at all. Just commenting off of others headlines. I won't tell you what Monique beef with Tyler Perry is because you should do yourself a favor and be informed. Now I am not saying that Monique'a intentions are pure nobody really knows. What I can say their is a difference in pay in minorities and whites not only in Hollywood. Have you ever worked a job where it was a no no to discuss salaries?
