Laura Helm

An Atlanta woman who sued Usher for allegedly giving her herpes, is now suing insurance companies, claiming they outed her medical records to a blog, according to gossip tabloid

Singer Laura Michelle Helm, 32, is suing 3 insurance companies, claiming an application she filed for insurance ended up on a blog post which revealed her "private sensitive health information" to a blog.

TMZ did not identify the blog.

Last year, Helm dismissed the lawsuit against Usher. Now she's trying to get money by any means necessary.

According to the lawsuit, Laura filed her application with an insurance broker -- representing 3 companies -- on July 31, 2017.

In the suit, Laura says the broker took screenshots of her application and gave them to the blog. She's suing the 3 companies -- United Healthcare, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Louisiana and Golden Rule Insurance Company -- as well as the blog.

Laura also claims the blog defamed her by saying she committed insurance fraud.

Helm initially sued Usher anonymously in July. The blog posts with her medical info were published in August -- and she only revealed her name in docs subsequently filed in September.

  • Rachel

She need to get a job. Unless she can pinpoint and prove the one employee who “outed” her medical records to a blog, she can forget about winning this case.

  • JV

LOL @ "a blog"... Usher's medical info was posted on this blog. Anyone remember that?

  • SpiceGirl

that there is what you would call a HIPPA violation!! If any of this is true ( leaked to blog) heads will roll

  • Nonya Bizness

She's getting on my nerves at this point, and UHC sucked when I had them. I walked out of the hospital after an Appendectomy owing almost $13k after UHC paid their part.

  • SpiceGirl

  • justlooking

I worked in medical industry for decades and you would be fired. Because the hospital or insurance company done with Joint Commission no where NO where near them. Until it time, and they still don't want them there.

  • stav

It wasn't Usher's info, it was hers. It had the date of service, her address , etc. it was a huge HIPPA violation.

  • JV

You could be fined hundreds of thousands of dollars and do jail time as well.

  • KcoolMuziq

  • JV

    yeah that was it

  • justlooking

If a BLog paid a employee, the employee and they fitting to be fired. Each time you login it's tracked. Becaues I don't care who it was, No insurance company itself, but they are liable for their simple ass employees. If this is true, they will never work in medical field again.

  • justlooking

Wasn't it part of the PUBLIC court records?

  • SpiceGirl in the hospital, they don't even want US (the patient ) in our OWN charts let alone somebody else chart (that you don't have business with) and speak on it....

  • justlooking

  • Mr.LeBrickJames

Even if she cant pinpoint the specific employee, if she can narrow it down to the particular insurance company, she can sue them.
They can be held responsible if of of their employees leaks her private health info.

  • MsVAllDay

I'm sorry but she's right. This type of information is not public record and should not have been shared. They are liable.

  • Don’t blame her

She should sue if her medical information was compromised.

  • justlooking

Yeah, as bad as I talk about my colleagues.... nope. Allegedly

  • BadAss Will

Got to give it to her. She is persistant with getting money that she didn't earn. Work not honest but it pays the bills.

  • Yup, I said it

She probably leaked it herself. Ain't nobody checking for this chics BCBS application.

  • TMW

The leak of her info is not what did her in though. The guy coming through with the tape where she said she knew she was exposing herself by raw dogging with Usher is why her lawyer dropped her and she dropped the case.

Anyway, when there is a violation of the disclosure act, doesn’t she have to file a complaint with the government, since it is the government that enforces HIPA? And insurance companies will keep her tied up in court for years before they give her a dime.

  • SandraRose

" And insurance companies will keep her tied up in court for years before they give her a dime."

Exactly. That's why she's suing that blogger, probably hoping to get a quick settlement.

  • TMW

But she can’t prove where the info came from if she can’t identify the source. And I believe HIPPA only applies to medical personnel releasing someone’s info correct? She had no expectation of privacy from a blogger. She won’t be able to prove her case.

  • CaramelDrop

Rightfully so! She should sue the broker too.

  • Steve Sadow

FYI - The blog as identified in the lawsuit is

  • Steve Sadow

The blog website identified in the lawsuit is

  • Holler If Ya Hear Me

She is the virus. She just won’t go away...

  • Yoni7

    Either way, she's somehow involved.

  • Yoni7

She can add that to her "collection plate" as well. She better bling in 2018! Aye!

  • Yoni7

Are they???!!!!!!! Thanks. I plan on it!

  • SpiceGirl

I feel you on that.....but my OBGYN doc in a building NEXT to the hospital....that is the closest for me.

  • kekeb

  • Yoni7

But wait........does this include the matinee? That's the ONLY movie ticket I'm willing to pay for. If not, I gotta go make nice with some folks and hope I can sit with them for 4 hours.

  • Mama Dee’s Wig Maker

You know what I haven't checked on the matinee tickets. The theater close to me is doing an early showing, so I was gonna pay the evening price. Try Fandango, they have all the dates and times for the movie.

  • Yoni7

Girl, evening prices are date prices. That sh!t is ridiculous! I'd damn near rather watch it on bootleg. LMAO

  • Mama Dee’s Wig Maker

Lol you aint lying. One time I paid almost $30 something on evening tickets. Movie tickets! Never again!

  • Yoni7

See! The last movie I saw was that Denzel movie; Roman J. Israel Esq. It cost me $5 because I went at 10 AM. LOL

  • Mama Dee’s Wig Maker

That's what I'm talking about. How was the movie though? I wanted to check it out.

  • Yoni7

I was glad I only spent $5 and went at 10 AM, if that helps. LOL

  • Mama Dee’s Wig Maker

LOL, guess I'll wait to see on tv

  • Yoni7

Hell, it might already be on Netflix! I hated seeing ole Denz in that frumpy role.

  • Mama Dee’s Wig Maker

    Lol you probably right

  • Gotitbutsmh

Move on with your life nasty girl, your money is not that long and you will never see a dime from an insurance company.
