Blue Ivy and JAY-Z

JAY-Z and Beyonce’s precocious daughter Blue Ivy is beginning to assert herself in a way her mother, Beyonce, never could.

In a sit down chat with talk show veteran David Letterman for his new Netflix show, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, JAY-Z told Letterman about a touching moment he shared with his daughter.

The 48-year-old rap mogul explained, “I told her to get in the car the other day because she was asking a thousand questions and we had to leave for school.”

After doing as she was told, father and daughter drove to school in silence.

Then, as if determined not to be weak and submissive like her mother, the six-year-old spoke up.

“We’re driving and then I just hear a little voice (say), ‘Dad,’ I turn around and she said, ‘I didn’t like when you told me to get in the car the way you told me… It hurt my feelings’.

“She’s six!” JAY-Z said in awe of his daughter’s maturity.

He was so touched by her sheer honesty, he told Blue, “That’s the most beautiful thing you’ve ever said to me.”

Video footage of the interview was released on Wednesday, as JAY-Z and Beyonce celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary.

The full interview will air on Netflix on Friday, April 6.

  • Dahl

She definitely learned that in school. Good for her…

  • Reenaface

    She’s a Capricorn, I wouldn’t expect anything less….lol! #capricornsareeasy

  • HalleMerry

Not sure why I actually expected to read something profound or touching.

  • INDUSTRY GURU

There is an old saying..” A piture is worth a thousand words”

  • ?Sugar&Spice?

    That’s sweet.

Kids are usually very direct and outspoken until someone breaks something inside them that destroys their confidence.

  • Shawty

Wow if that’s the most beautiful thing she has said to him, that’s kinda sad. I would think hearing I love you from a child for the first time would rank a lot higher…Just a thought.

  • Miss Thang

JayZ is really an emotionally immature person. Damn.

  • Quitedeliteful

    That’s what I thought it would be…

  • Marie L.

They will have an awesome father/daughter relationship. She will feel free to talk to her father about anything.

  • pecancandy

My mamma would have said, imma hurt yo behind next time….but cute story.

  • Joy King

Most of the time when kids feel secure, they have no problem expressing themselves in what Jay Z called a ‘mature’ way. Blue Ivy always seems to be happy and knows she is loved.

  • Marie L.

    Can you elaborate,please??

  • Rayne

Here I am thinking it would be “ im bout to fix you some salmon croquettes and rice”. Cause I’m so hungry ????

  • Cali

Awwww, I love it when a man loves his child like this! He has really grown. <3

  • Miss Thang

What’s so impressive about that? It’s open, honest communication. Something kids do unless someone beats it out of them. He just seems very immature for a 48 yr old man who’s been around the world to be unaware of that.

  • TheOwley

This from a man whose music honors women by calling them bitches and hoes and won’t stand by if a man calls his daughter that. hmmm. Every body has feelings Jay.

  • Karen Brady

I’ve heard those words from lots of kids…younger than her too.

  • Karen Brady

    !!!

  • Gloria

Huh? Why was I expecting more…

  • Alicia.Ashe

    Blue is a cutie pie.

  • Listen2Me

    lol!!

  • http://batman-news.com Roderick2011

If you happen to answer to bitches or hoes then you’ve got bigger problems than JZ’s music.

  • Red Grant

    uh they couldve kept that

  • cherrypie

Bawahhhhhhh!!!! The shade tho against Bey all thruuu this post!!

  • Mischelle

That’s sad..kids should be allowed to say if their feelings were hurt.

  • SpillyNillie

Much like Auntie Solange. Blue said not tuhday you won’t!

  • morenYAHdelsur

LOL right. I like them but folks act like their words and actions are that of God himself SMH.

  • morenYAHdelsur

Maybe he’s just now getting in touch with his nurturing side. Apparently he’s been a prick for many years.

  • morenYAHdelsur

    Cute story.

I think it speaks to his level of awareness though. He’s getting soft since he’s a dad LOL and that’s great!

  • Elevated Soul

Ah the drug dealer who ruined many lives of children with their parents is trying to make people forget how inhumane he has always been,by using his humanity for his daughter.

  • Alicia.Ashe

    Shut up

  • i troll it like i see it

    Strong willed! I like it!

  • http://tidal.com/#!/us/store/album/84712684 Django the God

That was her warning. Next time she letting them hands go.

  • http://tidal.com/#!/us/store/album/84712684 Django the God

Men love a sassy daughter and a headstrong son.

Well, I knew my sons would be hard headed either way.

  • http://tidal.com/#!/us/store/album/84712684 Django the God

He got that “stop running your damn mouth face” LOL.

  • http://tidal.com/#!/us/store/album/84712684 Django the God

You better be soft with your daughters.

  • 100milesperhour

Maybe she usually cusses him out. She wanted to go for ice cream that day & had to play nice.

  • L. Thompson

Most first time parents swear their child is doing and saying things that other kids their age don’t do. This is one of those cases. Most children are blunt and honest about their feelings.

  • INDUSTRY GURU

I wa? getting more of a Bubba Gump vibe, or Forrest Gump

  • bella28498 .

God forgives and your opinion doesn’t matter, have a nice day

  • http://tidal.com/#!/us/store/album/84712684 Django the God

Far from it. Jay is a thinker.

  • Bonsai

Maybe no one ever challenged him like his daughter. Sadly some parents would beat their kids if they said what Blue Ivy said.

  • Malai

All I see is a lil girl that learned early to not take BS or foul tone from a man..

    GOOD GIRL

    Next…!

  • Kemi

Assertive little girl who is surrounded with strong women. No surprise..

  • Sid

Kids are brutally honest. I was in Orlando 2 weeks ago on vacation. My niece was sitting on my lap. And she said to me “auntie I’m tired of my momma boyfriends” mind was blown. She is also 6. I almost responded and said girl me too but I had to remind myself who i was talking to.

  • https://twitter.com/Chicagowise Chicagowise

She gets it from Solange: the elevator bandit.

  • TheOwley

NO decent woman answers to that. And you know damn well that is NOT the point. It is he and ilk that refer to women as such because ALL women are worthy of denigration in their minds. Then suddenly when he had a daughter it became an issue for him. Get it right Rod.

  • Julia Lyons

    Right. Nothing special here folks.

  • candy

    Lol

  • NeverSurprised

Except he’s not a first-time parent. He just never bothered to spend any time with his older son.

  • Queen B

    Lmao ?

  • n1kk1a

They must not talk often. My 3 year old twins say stuff like this all the time. She’s old enough to express her feelings.

  • Tish

    lol!!!

  • http://tidal.com/#!/us/store/album/84712684 Django the God

    Hahaha!

  • Logan Roberts

This. We was born this way. Lol.

  • FukkFolks2018

Happy 10th anniversary. Mr. And Mrs. Carter

  • Applebootay

    LOL

  • Shira Harding-James

If Blue don’t sit down somewhere….it was time to leave for school and she was holding daddy up lol ?

  • Shira Harding-James

    That’s what I’m saying lol

  • Shira Harding-James

    OMG

  • Shira Harding-James

You should of kept th conversation going!

  • Shira Harding-James

    Chile…

  • Shira Harding-James

    I’m weak

  • Elevated Soul

Perhaps I missed the memo but I don’t recall seeking any wishes from you??..I do digress.

My comment is a fact, not an opinion. My comment isn’t even about God but then again people like you see Jay-Z as God, right?

You can sit up and praise that drug dealer/woman beater all you want. I choose to recognize the victims of drug dealers, which include multiple generations.

Shout out to my Black people who don’t praise has been celebrities just because, they got mega bank.

  • CopperCutie

It’s probably bad to say, but I’m already sick of this little girl and DJ Khaled’s son.

  • ShadesofEMPRESS

I think Blue will take after Solo. Being a voictrious and strong woman we need men who are confident in who they are. Blue seems like she will not be a push over.

Kids are honest. My brother married a white woman who cant cook and he told her one time that her food is nasty. She cried and bought a pattie Labelle cookbook. She always ask me and my mom for recipes.

  • Dove Amerie

They are overexposing her just like they are super overexposed. And she looks like a boy. Hate me. Yea

  • E-VannaRootsAllEvil

    Giggles

  • My 2 boys

Hi Marie, when I read this story I instantly thought the same thing. It’s always a beautiful thing when a girl is close to her father. I wish my father and I were like this but unfortunately we’re not.

  • E-VannaRootsAllEvil

    Giggles wickedly

  • abby500

What was so remarkable about that?

  • abby500

    Ditto

  • abby500

    Exactly!

  • MsPam

    Nothing!

  • abby500

Exactly….j and Beyonce have gotten so corny.

  • http://tidal.com/#!/us/store/album/84712684 Django the God

This is an entertaining story all the way around.

  • MsPam

Tyrese and his wife are having a baby girl if anyone cares. Three women in one house that’s going to be something! ?

  • Torae

Kids say a lot. The other day my three year old niece told her mother that her wig was too far down on her head and it looks crazy…???????

  • Freeriah

I don’t think this little girl likes to be told no or what to do. That’s what really hurt her feelings.

  • Yardgirl

    ??

  • Miss Thang

lmao girl I remember a couple years ago my niece was about 4 and she told me my belly is big I just had to agree with her lol. what can you say? they just make honest observations.

  • Miss Thang

some people shouldn’t have kids, and he’s one of those people.

  • FukkFolks2018

    ??

  • Skin Deep Beauty

Wait, WHAT? THAT’ WAS IT? FOH! I’ve heard interesting AND EXPRESSIVE things come from a child!

  • Munchosgirl

How old is Bitches & Hoes?

  • FukkFolks2018

My 6 yo nephew when meeting my bf for the first time was like “wow you’re HUGE??”. He was 4 at the time. All bf could do was laugh and slap little man high 5. He knows he is built like a linebacker. ?

  • PlayerP

Regular degular kid isht…but I see why he was touched. The fact that he sharing something like this saying it’s one of the most beautiful things she said to him indicates this is an issue in their household. What I find odd is they toted Blue around all the time when she was still a new baby…where are the twins?

  • brooklyn23

    Lmfao

  • TMW

My daughter said almost this exact same thing to her daddy around the same age, and he was so mad and ready to spank her, and I told him “you better learn to let this child express her feelings, or one day she’s gonna be standing over your side of the bed with a knife at your throat because of all those bottled up ‘feelings’ she was never allowed to express.” He listened?

  • brooklyn23

    I’m Weakkk ?

  • morenYAHdelsur

    Definitely!

  • ShadesofEMPRESS

Lmaooooooo! Yeah my brother will tell the truth and he is use to decent and good food. He got sick off her eggs one day.

  • Alextra Ballard

smh….chile ain nobidy stud’n Jay…also on the clip coming out on nexflix J stated he starting crine when his mother told him she was gay and she was in love. Let me fine out I knew jay mama was gay b4 he did.

  • Mischelle

Lol, I’m trying to tell you. We need to be doing the same for our black boys too.

  • what?why

Enough – first crying because his mother is in love, Blue telling her feelings are hurt …. what next? He needs to stop … Blue is adorable tho.

  • pecancandy

    New times we are evolving

  • what?why

This was a well known fact in Brooklyn, later to the music industry and no one really cares. It is what it is and certainly not new.

  • Logan Roberts

Dead at bought a Patti Labelle cookbook. Lol.

  • Angela Winbush

    GTFOH!!!!

  • hottlanta

What no album. Can’t wait for her to ask him what does the phrase “eat the cake Anna Mae” means in your song. He it trying to be a family man before the tour the same way he was on television giving relationship advice after cheating on Bey before his album came out. He is lucky ain’t too many parents I know gonna let a known drug dealer sit on our sofa and say he is dating our daughter and live. Just like he shoved this little girl in the video someone is gonna do Blue Ivy the same way. What goes around comes around.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRy6ElxxylM

  • hottlanta

Is she really pregnant. Because he was having a coke product placement several months ago saying she was. I need you to do some investigative reporting because I heard last week that Ciara was pregnant again as well.

  • hottlanta

If she was real serious bout cooking she would reach back in the archives and buy the old Ebony/Jet cookbook. I can see him right now going to JJ Ribs Shack and having a soul food overload. Poor baby. Tell him it is gonna be alright.

  • hottlanta

I got some cheese and your address is _____________________.

  • MsPam

I read it on another blog I don’t think I can say it on here. I think it’s posted on his Instagram.

  • KISSmyENTIREass

Not to be weak and submissive like her mother ????? Beyonce seems the opposite of those. Would’ve been a sweet article without the digs…. P.S. my mom would’ve whooped my ass…. My dad nah….

  • CookieMobster

When my kid was 4 I got pulled over for speeding by the GA State Patrol (hard asses). The cop comes to the window and says “ma’am do you know why I pulled you over today?” My son yells out from the back seat… “I do my daddy done told my momma bout that speeding. All’s she wants to do is BURN THESE ROADS UPPP!” I literally almost died. The cop took my license and came back w/ a fake badge for my son and told me to slow it down. Lol but no ticket were giev that day!!!

  • SG

    ???

  • Y’all Jealous Cuz I’m Prudy

    Sounds like my daughter.

  • davine puddin

My sister when she was 4 she is i think 34 now asked this girl we called Pepsi “why you smoking that crack with that baby in your stomach” every one gasped. Rip Pepsi she was the only one i knew who died of aids. She originally told people she had cancer but then a few days before she died brought us girls to her bedside and warned us of the dangers. Her exact words is neighborhood drug dealers are nasty wrap it up. Side note i aint never date anyone at my school, my neighborhood, nor my job. I dont s×it where i sleep at.

  • Stacey J

“Then, as if determined not to be weak and submissive like her mother, the six-year-old spoke up.”

    The shade….the shade….

  • GrapeCrush

    Right? Smh…

  • http://batman-news.com Roderick2011

TO: NO decent woman answers to that.

That was my point. When I was little I told my mom that my cousin called me a black dog.

She asked me if I were a black dog. She told me that I shouldn’t answer to that name then.

These females sound as if they have low self-esteem if they care a bout a damn song.

  • http://batman-news.com Roderick2011

Ask Jay Z. I don’t use the term.

    Ha,ha,ha!!!

  • Raquelle Dellaghetto

Wow. Blue can actually form an actual sentence. We know who she DIDN’T learn that from..

  • ShadesofEMPRESS

Lmao yes she use to be lazy she said.

  • ShadesofEMPRESS

    Lol

  • Jennifer Hudson’s Knees

    omg i hollered!!!!

  • TheOwley

Decent women know there is better in life than being thought of as a hoe or a bitch or a thot. They are not mislead by garbage. But check out how young teens talk to each other, the girls specifically. Impressionably minds that follow Jay’s music. Low life language has become part of the norm for speech and how girls are referred, “hey dude keep your bitch in line.” And you don’t really think they are all black girls from the hood? Wrong. These girls are from everywhere and all social classes and groups. I wouldn’t call them ‘not decent” they are just poisoned with crap music.

  • brillant smith

Wow that’s true. But it also made me also laugh.

  • brillant smith

    Especially DJ Khaled son

  • Smoke

Now we all know who said that….miss messy herself….Smh

  • Panther Charleston

    I’m saying.

  • Smoke

Ctfuuuu…. She said ok now don’t do it Hov….

  • Smoke

I wouldn’t have spanked my babygirl nor would I have been angry I actually would have felt a lil bad for hurting her feelings…yea I kno late for school got things to do etc etc but we have to realize our children DO have feelings and how we speak to them reflects on how they speak to us and others…#ImJustSaying

  • http://batman-news.com Roderick2011

Do you really want to play the chicken or the egg tonight?

My guess is that these teens talk to each other the way older people in their environment ( family members) do.

What type of music they listen to just reinforces these ideas/mentalities.

  • Bonny

    I like that.???

  • Bonny

That’s fukced up and all them grown azz men stood there looking stupid.

  • Bonny

No she put him in is place. He’s used to talking to ppl any ole kinda way and Blue was like naw dad I wasn’t feeling that.#talktomelikeyouloveme.#imnotthem

  • usher #1fan????

Hell we all knew she was GAY by the the way she walked and carried herself ijs, ain’t no way Jay Z ass didnt know ??

  • Jussjess25

Awww that really did touch me. I like blue shes such a normal kid

  • Mrs. ??????????

How could that hurt her feeling? Jay didn’t tell her to shut the fawk up and get in the car, Blue sounds like a spoiled brat.

  • Freeriah

Mines too. And she’s only 2.

  • Lady_Elle

It was not what he said… it was how he said it.
She has feelings… doesn’t make her a spoiled brat to express them to her daddy.

  • Mrs. ??????????

Sounds to me like Jay cut her off while her mouth was running a mile a minute so they wouldn’t be late for school. All he asked Blue to was get in the car, she could’ve easily kept up her 20 questions once inside the vehicle instead she got sensitive for no reason. That’s why I say Blue sounds like a spoiled brat.

  • GIJoeJones

I hurt my kids feelings all the time when I boss them around. I had no idea that I was supposed to feel so good about it.

  • Y’all Jealous Cuz I’m Prudy

Yeah, at the age of two, you expect them to behave like that.

  • INDUSTRY GURU

The facial expressions, ..but as far as brillant thinker when you look at the Tidal Launch, the Barneys fiasco, The Bad J Hotel Deal, him giving Live Nation another 10 years vs cuttting the umbilical cord , and the very large volume of law suits for poor business moves hes not looking very smart at all most people are fooled by the public relations smoke screens.

  • Kimberly King

Blue is a Capricorn. Most Cappy babies (and adults) are wise way beyond their years. She’s really starting to look like Baddie Bey now. Love that she kept her daughter’s hair natural. I remember when black people were clowning her hair when she was younger. Most pathetic sh*t ever.

  • xenaD

I think they add extensions.. but in good taste and barely noticeable, still very kiddy looking!

  • Owww76

LOL! Maybe she can teach her mama how to form one now LOL!

  • kekeb

Good for her she can communicate her feelings!! That’s very important.

  • Look@m3

So here for that lil girl…..She is my favorite celeb kid.

  • Look@m3

He said he always knew but it touched him to hear her tell him that she was in love finally or something like that but he said he already knew because it meant she was free. IDK weird convo…

  • Look@m3

    I just buuuuussstted out laughing!!!!!
Well he got you out that ticket….cause GA state Patrol be having a darn chip on they shoulder like they run the entire state!

  • Look@m3

nah just DJ Khaled son. Blue aint did nothing but get mentioned in this article. I mean she is a celeb kid.

  • SweetTEE

I’m glad she has parents who actually care about how they speak to her and her feelings. A lot of people just scream and curse at their kids with no regard. You have to respect kids just like anyone else.

  • Reina1718

Awww my daughter is the same way lol

  • Reina1718

What the lol u got all that from what he said & u nvr met his daughter?? Lol

  • sunni_daze

But she got edges for days and those scallywags bitter and bald

  • Tiff J

Am I the only one wondering if Jay Z was actually driving, or if they were getting chauffeured to school? For some reason I can’t picture Jay Z driving a soccer mom SUV, and sitting in the drop off line.

  • MeMyself&I

That was a sweet moment between daddy n daughter. Blu seems very intelligent. It appears they r raising her to have a mind of her own n speak out. Good job thus far.

  • Connie

I have to remember to watch this Friday. Bar his funny sounding voice, Jay Z’s conversations are deep and interesting.

  • Munchosgirl

That wasn’t a little girl nor was it real…this was a video, a documentary… “Backstage” “they” filmed in 2000. The lady is Chaka Pilgrim, who is still working with Jay today at Roc Nation Records. Shaka was the co producer of documentary. Maybe you can find the piece that was recently written about Shaka as well….https://events.bizzabo.com/205761/agenda/speakers/245998

  • Munchosgirl

You use the reference but don’t know it is actually song in his catalogue.

  • DETROITTOATL

That was cute. My daughter will tell her Father the same thing. Those are priceless moment between a Father and Daughter.

  • DETROITTOATL

I know. People have no respect for the babies.

  • DETROITTOATL

I don’t think she is a Brat. I just think her feeling were hurt and she let daddy know it. LMAO.

  • Kanyade

over analyzing isn’t needed. a child being an inquisitive, observant, thoughtful child, as many are at her age.

  • Michelle1953

    ???

  • Kimberly King

    Lmao ! Exactly ! I love being natural ! I haven’t had a perm since 2010 and I’ll die without having one.

  • Kimberly King

Yea when she wears braids. But I don’t think she has extensions in the pic above.

  • Mrs. ??????????

I guess you didn’t read the story…..He said what lead up to her hurt feelings…..

  • FukkFolks2018

    I AM WEEPING

  • Karen Brady

Same.. Plus I read that she has xxx amount of bodyguards that go to school and their caravan of cars is a bit much.

  • Karen Brady

LOLLLLLLLL.. GREAT STORY!!! And I would have lit his little behimd up at home :-).. Out of the mouths of babes! They don’t lie for shat.

  • Karen Brady

    Adorable!! And smart :-)

  • Karen Brady

    nada. Zip. nothing.

  • Karen Brady

LOL at your cousin.. Sorry boo. Kids say the craziest stuff without knowing any better. But your mom’s response was excellent.

  • CookieMobster

It was so funny. My husband said not to punish him for telling the truth. LOL!! You should have seen his head bobbling around when he said it. We still laugh about it to this day!!!

  • sunni_daze

I haven’t had on since about the same time , my oldest can’t get any morre and my youngest will never know what a perm is.

  • ebonics

Iono, I was expecting it to actually be something beautiful.. Maybe they don’t get a chance to conversate very often. ?

  • ebonics

    Lol!!!

  • Trace da Ace

aww…cute….hell the shit that comes out of my boy’s mouth….man…it amazes me, especially my youngest who is 5….he keeps in laughing because his personality is sooooo grown…..blessings.

  • Reina1718

Still not a brat for expressing how she felt. That sounded very mature of her instead of pouting or rolling her eyes

  • Kimberly King

Good! If I ever have a child and it’s a girl, I would never perm her hair. Im not great at braiding, but I would learn just to make sure her hair stays done. My scalp couldn’t take perms. It would get so dry and scale up. No matter if I didn’t scratch it would still burn. Even the kiddie perms. And who knows … they’re probably planting cancer in that sh*t as well. I just don’t trust anything. Whether it’s 3A or 4C- if your hair and scalp are healthy, it’s GOOD hair. Period

  • Kimberly King

Oh yes girl, we lit out here lol

  • Rodmilla De Ghent

    lmaoooo

  • sunni_daze

Girl you preaching to the choir. I F’d my hair up with all that mess, I got to the point of tears and in that very moment I made a decision for every girl in my house. I couldn’t braid either, but I watched this good video on youtube and now I can do the basic corn-rows. And I don’t doubt that they are putting some type of cancer in it, they stay trying to kill us off one way or another.

  • Angela Flowers

“submissive like her mother”…so now it’s a problem but when talking about nonblack women it’s all good huh Sandra?

  • Kimberly King

Yea the last time I had a perm I cried my eyes out. My scalp was so dry and there were large flakes planted in my scalp. I thought it was psoriasis but nope ! Just a bad reaction to that creamy crack ! I literally cut all of my hair off so I could start over. Haven’t looked back since.

  • Soon2BWife

I guess they will stop carrying her when she leaves for college. ??

  • facingrealit1

Bey knows her weaknesses and she is exposing her daughter to other options – which provides her a more independent mind. Bey people had her working to be a STAR at Blue age.

  • facingrealit1

I’m surprised that he is just hearing this at the age of 6 as most children tell you at 2 you aren’t their friend anymore because you hurt their feelings for the simplest of things.

  • EducatedRatchet

Cheats on the mammy and talks to the daughter like SHYT..he so trifling and slick at the mouth a 6 yr old got to call him out…

  • parisjok

to bad she was not born a boy since she was not blessed with her mom and grand mom’s beautiful looks. she might turn into a swan who knows

  • Lainy Damone

She IS cute and looks like Bey when Bey was little

  • Doink_Ahanahue

It’s beautiful to see a young black child (especially a girl) able to clearly and respectfully address an issue. If she stays this way as she grows she will be the epitome of a classy lady.

  • Lainy Damone

So if you were not there to witness HIM talking slick why would you write it? Bey is a Virgo and I sincerely doubt she holds her tongue especially when she probably makes more of the money

  • Allihave2say

I recall Beyonce saying they have power struggles all the time. She said on Oprah that she is’t the typical wife and it creates conflicts.

  • Allihave2say

    Blue is cute.

Who hasn’t told their child to do as they’re told?

They are celebrities. There is always a need to protect their children and keep them close. I’ve seen JZ hand Blue to Julius to carry when they’re in foreign countries. Besides, there’s nothing wrong with keeping your child close to your heart. JZ being with Blue is the ONLY time I tolerate him.
