John Legend

Woke Kanye West had the perfect response when singer John Legend attempted to silence him after he declared his support for President Trump. Kanye caused a massive meltdown on Twitter.com on Wednesday when he tweeted a photo of himself wearing his MAGA hat.

Kanye’s support of Trump is causing Democrats’ heads to explode as they fear his influence will lead his fans off the Democratic plantation.

The one thing that terrifies liberals is a free thinking black man.

Malcolm X once said, “All these white liberals have definitely failed the black man.”

In desperation, Legend reached out to Kanye via text message to beg him to stay on the plantation. But Kanye shared screenshots of the text exchange with his Twitter followers.

John wrote:

“Hey it’s JL. I hope you’ll reconsider aligning yourself with Trump,” Legend, 39, seemingly wrote in the text message exchange. “You’re way too powerful and influential to endorse who he is and what he stands for. As you know, what you say really means something to your fans. They are loyal to you and respect your opinion.”

John continued:

“So many people who love you feel so betrayed right now because they know the harm that Trump’s policies cause, especially to people of color. Don’t let this be part of your legacy. You’re the greatest artist of our generation.”

Kanye replied:

I love you John and I appreciate your thoughts. You bringing up my fans or my legacy is a tactic based on fear used to manipulate my free thought.

John’s wife seemed flustered by all the drama:

“Everyone keeps asking me to comment on s—. Comment on psycho Tami Lasagna, whom I refuse to give the joy to, say something about RHOA, speak up about kanye. When it comes to people we know, we DO speak up. To THEM. not on Twitter. And sometimes, I guess it makes it to Twitter.”

So is this how Kris told this fool to sell records? He has to prove he is licking Dumps azz by airing your “friends” out? I see why Bey and Jay don’t fuk with this krazy, he really is losing his mind.

  • EMILY POST

The tragedy called today’s celebrities are using their influence to do the dirty work of their liberal Hollywood corporate culture….. Mediocre John Legend is dropping jewels lol he is playing the game so him and his big head loud mouth annoying wife can have work…. Now he acknowledges the influence that celebrity has on the political process to control the sheep… they are not even intelligent enough to know that they are being played… talking about crazy ? Kanye but Being team Trump is not crazy.. what’s crazy is all these black people worshiping those white liberal Hollywood controlled fools… when Hollywood is putting out crazy propaganda and using celebs to do it and people are so bold they even tell them what they are doing to em and they are still too stupid to catch on??. So the dems paint Trump as the boogeyman and they run with that. Kanye got a slide blacklist warning ?? from his friend..

  • hi-liter

At this point, Anybody would be foolish to reach out to Krazy at this point because if they ain’t speaking Trump then they gone get they azz aired out. Let this be a warning to all those celeb “friends” that are concerned for this dude’s so called legacy. His legacy will be being Mr. Kim K and those baggy homeless “chic” clothing he pedals.

JL should have reached out to him on the DL. It lacks sincerity when ppl do things like this on sm.

  • hi-liter

Shouldn’t have never reached out to him. But I get it, John L prolly actually thought they were “friends” and thought he could reach him in some way.

  • Scromes1212

It’s crazy that people are so delusional they really think they can change this mans beliefs through a text message lol

Kanye West helped a lot of people’s careers I’m assuming John Legends. Even as a fellow trump supporter I know he has to be careful because the liberal democrats are ruthless and will go after him and blacklist him… because he is not aligned. All black people and artists must be aligned with the Democratic way of thinking and must agree with the Hollywood propaganda machine. They must make their art to support the views of the previous Obama administration and their policies.

  • Elevated Soul

Bravo to Kanye for speaking “his” voice.John Legend and his wife are two crazed Democratic sheeple…..Shout out to my “real woke Black peeps”.

The Democratic Party simply can’t tolerate Blacks who think outside their democratic box….

    MAGA

  • countrygal

I personally couldn’t care less what Kanye thinks. If someone is feeble minded enough to act on HIS political views, so be it. We all know Kanye lost his marbles when his mama died. He hasn’t been right since. Bless his poor heart

  • Elevated Soul

John Legend is an agent for the White Liberal establishment…

Black Democrats are just as oppressive toward Blacks people as their liberal masters.

  • samuel severino

    Exactly

The one thing that terrifies liberals is a free thinking black man.

    ****

    This is very true.

  • Just this one time

    Great minds think alike.

  • samuel severino

I was thinking the same thing. If he was real he would have called him on the phone. Instead he sent a disingenuous text that he could use to show others behind the curtains that he said something to Ye.

  • AJKC23

He’s right about the manipulation bc that’s how the rich elite keep this world in order! But 2 say he’s woke ? No No not at ALL!!! His wack a$! Is knocked out & drooling! That boy needs his MOMMA!!!!

  • samuel severino

Pretty sure his legacy will be more than that ?

  • Scromes1212

Could you imagine if every time you did anything people bring up your dead mother? You marry your wife, they bring up his dead mother. Make a bad album, they bring up his dead mother. Get into a public argument with your friend(jayz), they bring up his dead mother smh that’s got to be torture

  • SaltineCrackers

I’m walking into work tomorrow with a shirt saying ‘I can’t be managed’

  • samuel severino

If the Illuminati had him in a chokehold he would not be so defiant against them, their media and the president that they hate.

You sound like the type that screams Illuminati every time a Black celeb does something you don’t like and applaud that same celeb when they do something you agree with when in reality it is the other way around. Look how they did Lauren Hill for going against them yet they looked the other way when the other Fugee ripped off millions for them.

  • Passion

Is Kayne off his meds again!

  • jeniefrumdabloc™

Exactly … fugged up with that line right there …. you don’t give a ninja with inflamed ego gasoline… Chile … ??

  • samuel severino

Exactly. The 2 of them are in a fake loveless marriage so that he can cover up all of the gay rumors while behind the scenes he verbally batters her so much that she cries to her friends about how much she wants out. You rarely see them together when it is not a public event or a staged outing to show how perfectly in love they are. FOH.

JL telling Kanye to get keep his mouth shut or else massa gon’ come for him. JL and his talking siamese cat are liberal puppets who were probably ordered by their handlers to reach out to Kanye. Thank goodness Kanye saw through the BS.

  • Jethro

Sounds like a paranoid Glenn Beck talking point.

  • KcoolMuziq

John(whom is VERY approachable) has ALWAYS had Kanye’s back. Especially when I asked him how Kanye was doing after his Mother passed away.

  • Kemi

Ughhh all these twitter updates, text sharing, political support/ affiliation, clap back by wifey over impending record sales. I hope it’s worth it in the end.

  • TheThrowbackBeauty

My sentiments as well. One of the 48 laws of power is to give people the illusion of choice. Make them choose the lesser of two evils. Evil is evil. Politics, economics and business and entertainment are all ensnarled and both the “alliances” and “beefs” are contrived. There is nothing that is made public with the intent of informing people of the truth. It’s only to misinform people.

  • http://sandrarose.com SandraRose

    What did he say?

lmao! why u call that lady a Siamese cat!!!

  • Mr.LeBrickJames

Black people have got to start using their own thought process.Their minds are still on the plantation even though we present day Blacks, were never physically enslaved.

“You’re the greatest artist of our generation.”

JL must be so embarrassed ? by this fiasco.

When Ye tweets this BS and the Trump base replies to his tweets they always start off by saying: “I’m not a fan of your music But glad you spreading message”……point is they won’t be purchasing his music but they will continue to praise him for his black support and call him cool on Twitter like his masa did.

  • Cici

Sad AF he has to resort to such foolishness for album sales.

  • http://batman-news.com Roderick2011

If ya’ll want custody of Kanye, here take him .

    Ha,ha,ha!!!

Nope. He just tired of the bs. He gone flip in a few. Finish what he started before he was hospitalized and silenced.

  • We Can Do This

Two separate political plantations, same master.

  • what?why

Kanye is completely and totally right with his response – it’s called sheep and Legend etc. all follow that path. They don’t give a damn about the average black man…. Truth.

  • Mr.LeBrickJames

A black man who supports a race-baiter like Trump is not woke, in my opinion.
And this man Kanye is the one who famously said “George Bush does not care about black people”. So what does he think now… that Donald Trump cares about black people? What a joke.

How can any minority be supportive of Trump. A man who labeled WHITE SUPREMATIST as very fine people, and ATHLETES as sons of bi//he’s, because they were kneeling in protest against police brutality?

  • Coffee1st

He was on his way though…..?

    *sad*

  • Coffee1st

They lured him, caught him, worked their magic (literally) and killed him.
That ain’t Kanye, just his shell. I normally side eye some conspiracies, but I wouldn’t bat an eye if it were proven his mother was killed. Cuz she NE-VAH would have allowed her only son to be ensnared like this…. and “they” needed him to be.

  • Honest

Exactly. My grandmother said, if you look into the eyes of any minority that supports Trump, or anyone affiliated with white supremacy, you will see sickness and a lost soul.

  • Mec-One

    A MESSY BOOTS B*TCH.

  • Dahlia8765

???? Is that English you just wrote? What are you even saying??

  • davine puddin

You would be suprised at the black people who supports him

  • Dahlia8765

    Lies.

  • 90’sBawdy

    So now he’s “woke” foh….

  • Reenaface

In the Hollywood occult circles they always come for the mother first.

  • Dahlia8765

No, woke because he isn’t hoping on the liberal bandwagon. Not all black ppl think alike. I sometimes think some black folk believe that we do. And if you stray from the path, they call you a ‘coon’. Not realizing that they aren’t in any better position to call someone that. They are just as bad. But they can’t see it. They are sheep. Too blinded by years of liberal propaganda.

  • Reenaface

We shall see then.. Either way his label will most likely buy numerous copies of his album during the first week to make it look like it’s selling.

  • i troll it like i see it

This is very true! I see a lot of Mexicans where I live, supporting Trump. Desperate to assimilate to racist white people in a feeble attempt to somehow separate themselves from other minorities and the immigrant population. Newsflash idiots, it’s not going to make white people like you, selling out like this! They still will not respect you! Look at that federal judge Trump insulted when he was campaigning, he was a Mexican American JUDGE and still was just seen as some damn immigrant! People need to wake up and stop selling their souls!

  • Give me old school

So true! It’s written all in their eye’s. They look so disturbed.

  • Ryan

Kanye’s dropping new music in June; he and the people around him believe all publicity is good publicity, the crazier the better. He learned from the best/worst. Look at what he married.

  • PlayerP

I agree with you to a point…I’m a Black woman and I consider myself a moderate. Most Dems are just as bad as most Repubs and vise versa. Most, not all.
That’s not the issue here. Trump aligns his self squarely in opposition with anyone who is not white or not kissing his ass. Kanye, who was seemingly “woke” is kicking this free thought ish but the truth is he is supporting someone who who does not care about Black people. Period. Point blank. The end.

  • Ryan

I still think it’s a stunt but this was a good clapback. I really look at black people who support trump being similar to a slave defending his master, justifying the master’s actions under a thin veneer of “please like and approve of me, white man.” No thanks. Remember our ancestors and families who lived through slavery and Jim Crow. Because these simple-minded brainwashed fools DON’T. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/5ae316fd643c15d267b6057fdc39022bd1494ed8e22f2b9ff670cfbcdcc992af.jpg

Kanye has always been Kanye. JL was probably sent by the Boule as a warning. Kanye wants to be free to say whatever he feels just like back then. A lot of people feels the same way. They ight not agree with Trump but thry want to be able to speak as they are free and not to be a crowd follower.

    Nothing new to see here

  • king shun

john legend is a flaming out of control homosexual of course he want blacks to stay with the dems

  • king shun

you are the nutcase not kayne

  • king shun

some black people agree with trump hardline stance on crime and drugs

  • Ni Ni

John Legend & Kanye are both coons in their own right. Yes Kanye is a nut, but if his fans are influenced by his political preferences, there’s no hope for them anyway. A lot of these die hard fans can’t think for themselves.

I don’t think I’ll ever vote democrat again in a national election after the previous administration. Neither party seems to have my best interest. They’re too busy competing with each other over nonsense to care about me. Independent from here on out for me.

Folks all butt hurt over Kayne. He ain’t just now start cooning. Yawl forgot when Kanye went around begging them white folks for they money all in public ?. Kanye probably begging Trump for his money now. Anyway, the man ain’t right, let him have his “spells”. Maybe if we ignore him enough or see his antics as pure entertainment, he’ll go away.

  • Ni Ni

There was a blind item about a rapper going off his meds a couple months ago and his people feared his erratic behavior would return.

  • Ni Ni

Right, sounds like John uses the same tactic.

  • MsPam

Let Kanye like whoever he wants , John needs to worry about that man he’s married to!

LMAO I am looking at other black blog sites and they are so obviously a part of the liberal Propaganda machine…. Just attacking the man now because of his political backing of Trump. Memes, Jokes, Name Calling the Democrat way of bullying people over not being aligned…. Look at the black entertainment blogs and how they switch and are extremely hateful towards Kanye… We watched them do the same thing to Chrisette Michelle, Steve Harvery and anybody else who dare to have their own mind…….. Its a trip… And they are calling Trump a racist…. What in the world do they think they are? The party with the bully campaign…. LMAO Are bullying Black AMericans because of their political views.

  • Raquelle Dellaghetto

I don’t care who Kanye supports it’s just this shi t is so calculated, fake and forced. And if anyone says anything, he’s accusing them of not understanding. Like what’s their to understand besides the fact that you’re trying to make rambling into facts?

I don’t recall anything he’s done for Chicago, and I live here and watch the news. I haven’t seen Kanye walk the streets of Chicago and talk to the poor people (like Common & Chance).

Black Democrats are the ones who are setting back the Black race.

  • Blessed

Exactly. And Obama was already heavily involved with doing work in Chicago as a whole and working with minorities, because as people clearly don’t know, he was a senator there before becoming President. Most of the issues people want fixed in Chicago need to be fixed at a local level…most of the issues are federal concerns.

  • king shun

he also says that black people are fine people

  • king shun

how do you know its faked or forced are you inside his head

  • WHYJESUSWHY

No politician should be our best friend! That’s the problem when we are always looking for someone to be our friend, save us, or give us the hook up. My problem with Democrats is they think because they have interest in the poor or come up with programs for ”low income” minorities that they have our undying support. This is what is crippling us. Not every minority is low income and actually works for all they have and want. How about we as minorities start taking responsibility for OUR own families by breaking cycles of poverty, raising our own children, and continuing our education. There is racism, bias and a lot of socio-economic issues but blaming whitey gets old. In one breath they are the devil, in the next breath it’s what you can you do to help our community.Democrats are not our saviors! We can be our own best friends! And people please stop with the ”cooning”. The term is old, tired, and lame! Calling someone a coon because they don’t let excuse on top of excuse stop them from succeeding in life and don’t agree with the masses of people who are underachievers due to their lack of accountability for their own shortcomings just makes those that say coon look foolish! That’s it, I have to make rounds now.

…”My problem with Democrats is they think because they have interest in the poor or come up with programs for ”low income” minorities that they have our undying support”…

If it wasn’t for those resources that the Democrats have provided, a lot of minorities wouldn’t be able to get that head start. Everyone isn’t fortune…and these programs help the less fortunate. That doesn’t mean you should continue to depend on those resources. But what they do, is give you a solid footing, and it’s up to the individual to take it from there.

Listen, my father passed when I was 10 yrs old. That left my mother strapped with taking care of my siblings and myself. No family support at all. If it wasn’t for those programs that the Democrats provided, I don’t think my mom would have pulled it together. She took that help, and build on it to provide. Fast forward, we’re all college educated, and successful. And it was all because of the help we received.

  • Indies beauty

I love Kanye! One of my top five albums is My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. I even deconstruct the lyrics for fun, especially “Hell of a Life.” The song has sooo much dimension. It’s really crazy to me as a Kanye fan he has aligned himself with Trump; He has songs like “Gorgeous” that speaks to his experiences as a black man in America.

I wrote a short paper about nationalism in literature, concerning the modernism literary period. Although we moved from this phase, Kanye shares similarities because alot of his lyrics are presented like a stream of consciousness, and he does alot of new things structurally with his artistry to bend the rap genre. However, nationalism works to socially advance it’s participants. When the ideals do not suit the individual–they reject it. When they are drawn to it, the issue becomes whether
they are being genuine or are looking for an opportunity to satisfy their conditions.

The Hispanics are silent even though their population is double that of the black population in the U.S. That’s because Hispanics speak as one at the poll booth. I’ll say it again: the Hispanics are the reason Trump won the election.

Hispanics won’t sit idly by and let liberals teach their children anal sex or put their sons in dresses and purses.

The Hispanics won’t sit quietly while liberals push the message that it’s okay for 17-year-old boys to have sex with adult males.

The liberal media rushed to cover the “bad” heterosexual Turpins who starved their children, but they are silent on the white lesbians who starved and murdered their 6 black and brown children.

The full story of the horrors that occurred in the Hart household has not been told.

This is why liberals are so dangerous. They control the narrative to keep black people on the plantation.

If you get out of the hospital and go back to the same environment that put you there in the first place, a relapse is almost inevitable. I don’t know if Kanye is acting like this to be provocative and build buzz for his album, but I do believe his demons (AKA mental illness) are real.

  • Give me old school

Those Hispanics are silent because they aren’t the one’s who have been oppressed for centuries. And don’t forget, they’re racist as well. And those same Hispanics btw, are regretting that vote. I haven’t seen so many Hispanic tears since that untimely and sad passing of Selena.

All in all, everything you just said, is what the Republicans do BEHIND closed doors, UNTIL they are CAUGHT.

On April 23 a group of parents held their children out of school in protest of the liberal sex education in schools that teaches children as young as 5 about anal sex and transgenderism. Did you hear about the school walkout on April 23?

This is why liberals are dangerous. They control the narrative to keep you uninformed.

They praise men in dresses but they call Kanye crazy for telling black people to think for themselves.

I have a Puerto Rican mother and black father, I am the descendant of SLAVES! I don’t know oppression, I have been oppressed by WHITES and BLACKS all my fucking life! I grew up in a neighborhood where I was accepted by blacks until I did something someone didn’t like and then I was a Puerto Rican bitch! I was accepted by Puerto Ricans until I stepped out of line and I was a Black bitch. I don’t know oppression? MY people on both sides were slaves and bought here against their will. A lot of the slaves that were brought here were of Caribbean descent and in turn Hispanic AND Black! I am one of ten kids, had a father on heroin and a mother who held her family together on a job that paid her 6.50 an hour. She was talked mad shit about by plenty of Blacks and Hispanics because she had a bunch of half breed kids. The same Blacks who were quick to say ”We all the same”, but were quick to call me and my sisters ”Puerto Rican bitches” oppressed us as much as the whites did because we weren’t full black. I did 7 years for ”alleged manslaughter” because one of ”my people” decided to come to my house and oppress me and now I am a damn felon! You think black people are the only ones oppressed, think again!

It’s not about wealth or poverty…it’s about enhancing and creating an environment in the US that is against black people. It’s clear that racial tensions have INCREASED since he’s blown the dog whistle. Crimes against minorities have INCREASED since he’s been in office. His words and actions state that he is against black people and non white people – in every way…for someone who is black to support him is asinine. TRUMP IS A RACIST – PERIOD. BLAH BLAH BLAH, free thought and action nonsense…Kanye is black and if he wasn’t Kanye, he would not have the privileges he has but you can best believe that if he walks down the street and the police or other Y Pee Pull don’t recognize he’s Kanye, his black a$$ will REALLY know what it’s like to be black in America…so he can align himself with whoever the hell he wants but don’t dare act like Trump being President hasn’t change this country for the worst – for black people…because not everything is about what affects you directly…if it affects others with your skin tone, then it’s a problem because that same treatment is not too far removed from you.

Mona thanks for your reply. How has Trump or Kanye personally affected you? Police strong tactics against minorities unfortunately have been at this rate (much worse) since the late 1930’s. Social media and camera phones has just made it more proof it exist. What police policies have Trump (or Kanye) enacted that are personally or as a race affected you? To be honest, convictions of minorities INCREASED under Bill Clinton (8.7 Billion dollar Prison building Crime Law) than any other President. But he gets a pass because he “acts” Black…

  • Jethro

    Yup. ?

  • Mister Fantastic

That is affecting you in your day to day living? Your family and community, how? For example: If you or a family member is selling or benefiting from illegal drugs, yeah I can see how you are disgusted by Kanye and Trump (not). I was explaining above that Bill Clinton should get this opposition because he was the one that signed off on the $8.7 in funds to build prisons that the government (local, state, and federal) is using forced labor slavery to run. So many are being entertained by these characters that they or forgeting to look out for theirselves and families due to the Flashing Lights (pun intended)…

  • goat

He sound like he’s been brain washed by The Privileged. That shat sound just like some shit they would say.

  • Lainy Damone

That was a really good analogy. I think most of us are so sick of the hate that the world if currently facing that Kanyes decision will only make his record sales drop. All of this new found attention is just a ploy for hi album and a cry fro new meds… The sales will tell.

  • SDot

I said this a while ago F Kanye he’s been gone since his mom’s died over vanity. They all off! Wanna more than they are. Trust he will get a reality call soon. Until then F him and DON’T SUPPORT HIM.

  • ViolettaBliss

I do not agree with Kanye’s views but I do believe in freedom of expression. Why don’t celebs put there money with there mouth is? If they have so many problems with the state of things in this country why don’t they do something about it ? I mean these people are all wealthy !!!!!!!!!!

WHAT ABOUT THE DISCRIMINATION LAWSUITS TRUMP HAD/HAS, THE LAWSUITS FOR UNPAID WAGES TO WORKERS, ALL OF THE SEXUAL LAWSUITS OR THE FACT THAT HIS FAMILY IS A BUNCH OF NAZIES AND ‘TRUMP’ ISN’T EVEN THEIR REAL LAST NAME, DRUMPF IS. THEY CHANGED IT TO ‘TRUMP’ TO SOUND LESS NAZI AFTER THE FAMILY CAME TO THE USA AND WWI WAS TOTALLY NOT FOR THE GERMANS/NAZIES BUT HE HAD THE NERVE TO QUESTION OBAMA’S FAMILY BEING MUSLIMS. LOL!!! • mona q

I appreciate your thoughtful and thought provoking responses. Like I said, in another comment, Kanye’s support of this guy doesn’t affect me or mine in any way…Trump’s anti-minority DOG WHISTLE has increased the already anti-black, anti-minority mindset and behaviors in MANY people, politicians and ESPECIALLY a lot of people in power. He is putting these type of people in higher places to further support his agenda to Make America Hate Again. That is just fact. Many people who wouldn’t otherwise speak up and say racist things are now taking liberties to do so…why do you think that is? Trump cutting funds to the Minority Business Development Agency, the Community Services Block Grant and since I work in academia, some of his policies and budget cuts could very well affect me in the future…I won’t even get started on the cuts to the Education Dept.’s Office of Civil Rights…that may affect me and my children… I won’t even acknowledge your comment about Bill Clinton because while I don’t share your opinion, I have no opinion on the subject.

  • the watcher

well i guess i’am confused? im just wondering how was it that president bush didn’t care for black people ,but president trump does? here is a man talking about grabbing women by the pu33y, not renting his apartments to black folks, calling african countries sh3t holes countries and then telling black folks by voting for me what do they have to lose, making fun of a disable reporter , banging porn stars ( without protection) calling mexican’s a bunch of drug dealers and rapist. i can go on and on . is this what kayne west is talking about when he wear’s his make america great again hat?

  • Blessed

I’m blessed to and from. And apparently, you’re not. That being said, you can keep your mindset, and i’ll keep mind. You take care.

  • Knocked Kneed and Pigeon Toed

I dont believe Kayne has the influence to change a person’s political views. If he does then that person was already on the fence anyway. I see thru all this BS. Kayne is doing this chit more than likely to get attention and to be controversial because more than likely hes bout to drop some type of project. He’s a contrarian puppet. I haven’t been checking for Kayne since he got with Kim. All them years he spent talking about that women and how shes trash. Then ends up marrying her and having kids with her. That’s when I realized that nicca will stand for one thing then turn around and do the complete opposite (in true Gemini form). Let Kayne ride Trump’s coat tails. House niccas always forget that at the end of the day to a white person you’re still a nicca. When the Kardashians and white America chew Kanye up and spit him out he will come crawling back but by then it will be too late. Hell it kinda already is too late.

  • Quitedeliteful

I don’t know if Hispanics are the reason Trump won the election but I agree that for most of them family values are important and generally speaking they will not vote for a candidate that is pushing a free for all sexual agenda.

yeah, i get that there’s always potential for influence, but as a consumer of music, film, art, etc., sometimes arts & entertainment are just that – entertainment. it’s a temporary escape and a break from the constant grind. i leave work and can’t wait to get to my car so i can drive home whilst singing off key, rapping wrong lyrics, and shoulder dancing away the pressures & anxieties of the workday. and, yes, i got some Kanye on my playlist (‘Good Life’ is STILL my jam, Lol!) … heck, i even got some R Kelly on there (’cause ‘Home Alone’ makes me feel like i’m rolling in the club, ROFL!) …but it’s on my prime playlist, so technically, i didn’t ‘buy’ it…. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/5a16feb7886870b58e876a7ffc6b264e7419e743bb55ec579123b82d4a427799.gif

  • Quitedeliteful

Plenty of folks who are not Democrats don’t agree with Trump’s policies. I’m saying that the Democratic Party and especially Hillary Clinton in the presidential election just assumed we would vote democratic because we had no other choice. Most young Democrats wanted Bernie Saunders but they pushed Hillary on us. Since Kanye seems to be so ‘influential’ with a lot of the youth maybe this will be a wake-up call to the powers that be that we are not a monolithic group that is going to continue to vote blindly for them. I don’t stump for Trump but I am damn sure sick of Democrats take us for granted.

  • Jack Blakk

Got you, but I’m blessed by my slave ancestors not a porcelain god!

  • WHYJESUSWHY

My history is that my people on both sides have been oppressed, I have been oppressed and discriminated not just because I am half Black but being Hispanic as well. Furthermore, I also know that my ”oppressed” ancestors would find it absolutely absurd that some people would rather go back and forth about who was more oppressed and compare or blame their struggles and plights which SOME of our people bring on themselves but refuse to take responsibility for to those of our ancestors before us! People who WANT to succeed will do just that despite the obstacles. #triplethreat#minority/female/felon#descendantofslaves

I don’t know about black women and I do suppose it depends on where you live because I live in the Northeast and there are no black women filled in the corporate offices. Gay people, yes…black women …no. I’ve lived here for over 10 years and have worked in many different corporate settings, legal depts, etc. and noooooo…I’ve only worked with ONE other black woman other than myself and have never seen on in a position of power such as President, VP, etc… we are still discriminated against over here…I’m sure that is the case in many other areas.

  • Miss Thang

the majority of the examples you listed have nothing to do with black people. I’m still wondering what Trump has done on a massive scale to the black community that warrants such venom. Ya’ll didn’t have shit to say about Senator Robert Byrd (who Hillary called her mentor and Bill did his eulogy at his funeral and defended him being in the KKK). Ok, so Trump called some countries shitholes. I would call India a shithole and also Pakistan because rape is rampant there and is not considered a crime there. Does that make me racist against south asians? Bush was president and ignored the black community in New Orleans suffering after a natural disaster. he had real power and didn’t do his job because he’s a damn racist. That’s the difference. In my mind, Trump hasn’t done anything more racist than nearly every president before him. My favorite president Lyndon Johnson was probably racist because he called blacks niggers, but guess what, he still signed the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act into law. I’d vote for him. I don’t care what you want to call me as long as you recognize my human rights. We need to prioritize our needs better.

Wow the nerve of JL trying to manipulate Kanye or anyone’s freedom of expression. This in contradiction to the liberals teaching & promoting allowing unruly kids & dysfunctional adults all the room in the world to act out or express themselves for it is called a form of art.

-but, it is time to run interference when someone has a mind of their own Vs having a sheeple (cattle-like or plantation) mentality. Good or bad allow Kanye to also express his thoughts just like the next person.

Eh. Both sides have and will continue to chew up Black voters & spit them out. That is why not much has change for the better in a segment of the Black population once those candidates are hired. Is that not being played?

What’s in the votes for the Black folks except the lowly pest infested urban highrises in crime-infested neighborhoods with the worst school systems? -meanwhile, a number of States are announcing that they will set aside million$ to provide illegal immigrants & DACA with a pool of college educational funds.

Every voting season, a number of Black folks will fall for the same ole routine propaganda peddled with hope, lies & feel good promises that is designed to gather their votes for the employment of the candidates. -like the next person Kanye is allowed to have a mind of his own.

Kanye said in his last album “I’d be worried if they said nothing” about him. So he did something to get people talking about him, like a typical narcissist. we have no idea if he’s sane or insane or whatever bc we don’t know this man. what we do know is he likes attention so if pretending to have mental health issues by aligning himself with controversial people and issues to get buzz then that’s what he’ll do.

Like Kanye, JL is one of the rich people who also will get the tax break. Whether or not a rich individual like Trump or the GOP, they will get the new tax break. -so that doesn’t add up.

I think what adds up is that Kanye sees Trump as having his own mind & a free thinker like himself.

  • the watcher

miss thang. by all means vote for whomever you want to vote for , its nothing to me. what i pointed out in my own opinion was that trump was and is a racist! bush has never not rented an apartment to a person based solely on the color of one skin (trump did). bush never called a african country a sh3t hole country,( trump did) bush never said that a whole race of people were drug dealers and rapist,( trump did)bush never said they should bring back the death penalty for 5 young black guys the central park 5 who were wrongly convicted for a crime they didn’t commit and never apologized after it came out that the guys were innocent( trump did) bush never tried to ban a whole race of people from coming to this country base solely on their religious beliefs. (trump did) and lastly when you say……. I’m still wondering what Trump has done on a massive scale to the black community that warrants such venom? i say just open your eyes. can you imagine if president obama would have used the same words as trump?? oh , im sorry obama was too classy to talk like that.

what does or doesn’t “add up” according to you doesn’t change my thoughts specific to Kanye. in my opinion, Kanye DESIRES Trump’s acceptance and approval because he believes he has garnered enough material wealth and symbols of status to be found “acceptable” by Trump and his ilk. this seems to be something Kanye cares about, while others will benefit from the tax break and still give no F’s about Trump. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/9c5524b933f3a29872256af8b9d30b4c9ec5914b980fdc0a0817cbbe688aa153.gif

I’m tired of people saying Kanye is being an independent thinker… please. If by independent thinker you mean ignoring everything this “President” has said with regards to minorities. Ignoring his actions. He tweets freely to criticize kneeling “Sons of bitches” NFL players and the NFL for allowing it but doesn’t condemn or tweet about massacres of minorities at the hand of white men. He doesn’t mention or congratulate any good news regarding minorities. He hires questionable people to his administration and vouches for them even though they’re known to make racist jokes and tweet racist things. I could go on and on all day. To ignore all of that as if he’s somehow better than black people because he’s Kanye West and rich is not independent thinking, it’s insulting.

  • the watcher

yep! trump is the racist! please tell us the people why wouldn’t trump rent his apts to black folks? one lady had a very good credit score and plenty of money in the bank. but i guess that didn’t matter bc she was black.

  • Allihave2say

The reason Kanye expresses such favor towards Donald Trump isn’t politically motivated as it seems on the surface. It appears politically motivated because Trump is the President of the USA.

Kanye likes Trump because he sees himself in Trump, in a true narcissistic way. He thinks Trump is his own man, who lives by his own rules and freely uses his own voice to express his view and desires without regard for social consequences and public consequences.

Keep in mind that Kanye was criticized and ostracized by the black President who favored his former “friend-brother” over him, and voiced his opinions of Kanye for all the world to see, hear and read. Trump was the nemesis to the BLACK President who rejected him. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. No?

On the larger platform, Kanye is unable to fully care or grasp the depth of danger the Trump candidacy and Presidency has caused across the nation and around the world. He’s seeking a common ground with a higher power. Trump is it.

  • Allihave2say

“Wow the nerve of JL trying to manipulate Kanye or anyone’s freedom of expression. ” Everything in politics is about persuasion, promotion of ideals, and selling. John Legend believes Kanye is misled by the intentions of Trump. He believes Trump is harmful and understands that there are many people who are independent or free thinkers. He’s concerned that people who “follow” Kanye will be lost in the agenda of Trump and the alt right whites who support MAGA.

  • Mischelle

    J. Cole’s “False Prophets” comes to mind when I think of Kanye. He’s had too many people around him telling him how great he is, how much of a genius he is and not enough people telling him the truth. Get help Kanye. I’m all for “free thinking” but I look at him and he screams unstable to me.

  • Mister Fantastic

Ha? The effects of Clinton is still being felt on the Black and minority community today. For profit prisons are trading HUMANS on the NYSE, but you don’t hear me though… Again I ask, “What has Trump, Obama, your pastor done that is effecting you personally?” Why are you so angry at someone that is doing NOTHING that is adverse to your way of living. Screw them! Focus on you and yours, and you will find you will not have time to “join the band wagon” of transference of aggression.

  • Mister Fantastic

Thank you for the reply mona q. Just trying to gain an insight as to how these loud mouth public figures are making many so unsettled that they are “arguing” and “unfriending”, for what? It has gotten so personal and a distraction to what is really affecting us personally out here like local jobs leaving, young kids on heavy drugs, and crime at it’s highest since the 70’s. “This” is like to keep us in a fantasy world in order to not focus on what’s real to ourselves and family :(

Exactly! They blocked him on everything.

  • Yes, I Said That

John Legend is a problematic/contradiction for me not because of his wife’s ethnicity but because of her crazy antics on social media and at social events. Her rude, shrewd, unfunny constant commentary smothered in nip slips, vajayjay reveals and always in some celebrity’s business, is exhausting and has made me see John Legend in another light. How can he chastise Kanye for what Kanye says but not help his wife keep her clothes on, stop getting caught up in other celebrity’s news and being vulgar all of the time?

John himself helped to set back black women singers by pushing Ledisi to the back burner due to peer pressure from Beyonce. Ledisi was slated to perform (first choice) the song featured in Selma, Precious Lord Take My Hand, for John & Common’s set at the Grammy’s but John bowed down to Bey. He happily said, “I can’t say no to Beyonce”. Oh yes he can, especially if he is the black activists and pure R&B/Soul artist that he portrays himself to be. He’s just another “play along to get along” when it comes to the music industry. He says he wants to be a beacon for black music but he helped to further diminish and make it harder for other talented black women singers besides Rihanna, Beyonce, Nicki and Andra Day to perform on that coveted Grammy stage. Ledisi has 12 Grammy nominations but no trophies/wins and has never performed on the Grammy’s stage. Real R&B/Soul is about dead in the mainstream and its being whitewashed right in front of us. What is John doing about that? John is probably enjoying the lack of competition. I hope I didn’t read to much into his live Gallant collaboration. John seemed not to enthused to welcome superb black male soul singers.

Not all people or individuals can be put in a box. Simple or weak-minded lackeys are followers who are easily manipulated because they are disrespectfully perceived as having no mind of their own. Just because folks are a fan of somebody’s music doesn’t mean that they are so pathethic that they can’t even think, pray, or vote in the best interest for themselves.

A number of people who like Kanye’s music also like JL’s and a list of other Black artists.

-is JL so insecure that he believes Kanye have some magical political pull that is way more powerful than his own or all the other liberal artists combined?? It makes no sense nor adds up because it is utter BS. LOL

  • J2PC

Desires Trump’s acceptance? I doubt it. He already had a connection with Trump. People are who they are. Nothing like having a lowly plantation mentality in believing that all human beings who are minorities in the US must act like a cattle of sheeples with a cookie cutter image & voting mentality.

Whatever happened to thinking as an individual for oneself & expressing oneself or one’s own belief? The truth comes out because that is not allowed on the plantation.

I never once criticized Kanye for voicing support for Trump… (afterall, who’s to say he actually voted for him?)

Nor did I criticize in general minorities who vote republican. There are some dynamic young Black republicans who are firm in their belief that their chosen party has the potential to move this country forward in a positive and inclusive way. However, they also are able to acknowledge that this particular incumbent may have a different agenda.

Again, your generalized opinions regarding sheeple, crabs, etc. don’t change my opinion of Kanye the individual – his declaration of love for Trump won’t be his last attention seeking antic. This one clearly touched a political nerve for some, while others simply ‘Kanye shrugged’ at Ye being Ye. Live and let vote. *shrug*
