BlacKkKlansman

Spike Lee released the trailer for his new race war comedy BlacKkKlansman on Monday. Produced by Jordan Peele (Get Out), BlacKkKlansman stars John David Washington as a black cop who infiltrates the KKK.

Pictured at the Cannes Film Festival premiere are the film’s stars (L-R) John David Washington, Laura Harrier, Adam Driver, and director Spike Lee, who wears knuckle rings with “love” and “hate” on them.

The comedy is based on a true story about Colorado Springs’ first black police officer, Ron Stallworth, who went undercover in the KKK to stop a race attack.

Adam Driver plays a white cop who stood in for Stallworth as he communicated with KKK Grand Wizard David Duke (Topher Grace) over the phone.

Washington is the son of acting legend Denzel Washington. BlacKkKlansman is Washington’s fourth role in a Spike Lee-directed movie.

The movie is set for release on August 10.

Oh great….another black directed movie about race issues. Can we get a black directed sci fi, fantasy, animated or something else. Its starting to get a little redundant at this point. We as a people are more than just race issues.

  • hottlanta

Tell white folks to stop making us a race issue when we can’t bbq in the park, sleep in a common area of a school that made money off black people and now act as if we are trespassing and black while shopping. I don’t see you complaining about that.

  • Jahnée Gill Mr.Eddie Murphy??

I would date John David just so I can push up on his father. I mean John cute but he ain’t fine like his sexy ass daddy. Denzel is old enough to be my daddy and I’d still stalk his ass.

  • Logan Roberts

I said what the hell I said. You need to stop being a celebrity groupie ma’am.

  • Lorenzo Chaps

  • xenaD

All I know is that I was on the train today… saw a white man walking fast as shit, with a long trench on. I got scared af! It even looked like he was gripping something too…. I was really worried he was bout to pull out an automatic or sum ?

  • Indies beauty

Lmao girrrlll!!! I would have done the same. I stay on alert.

  • EMILY POST

The name of the movie is turning me off already… Oh my remembering Chiraq…. Spike Lee has some of the best Cinematography but those scripts and stories he tells … I am a fan of the way he makes blacks look in his film. He has a beautiful style of filming people of color. I can watch his movies with sound off he makes visually beautiful films but sometimes the stories are not the best..

  • GuestSTAR

I saw one when I was at the drive thru window at In/Out Burger. He was inside with a long coat on, mind you it was 80 degrees out, but he was just staring angrily at the kids working behind the counter. Had he went under that coat and pulled out his AR-15, my azz was ready to drive right off leaving that Double Double meal.

  • Mints

Stop belittling your own race like we cant do anything other than talk about white people. Maybe you want to play the victim your whole life but I refuse and I don’t need a reminder every year that we use to be slaves. Also, its possible that you don’t see the patterns in Hollywood when it comes to Black movies and why they seem to revolve around the same subjects i.e- race issues, infidelity , drugs, gangs.
Black people have imaginations too, you know

  • http://sandrarose.com SandraRose

Spike Lee’s form of storytelling is a little off-center. I walked out in the middle of of ‘She’s Gotta Have It’ in 1986. He redeemed himself with ‘School Daze’ (1988) and ‘Do the Right Thing’ (1989). The last Spike Lee movie I saw was ‘She Hate Me’ in 2004. But even that movie was weird. I have no plans to see BlacKkKlansman. I’m tired of race-baiting and slavery movies.

  • Mama Dee’s Wig Maker

I’m intrigued…I love me some Spike, but lately he’s been hit or miss. And Look at Denzel’s son in this movie…looking just like his daddy.

  • Mama Dee’s Wig Maker

He was fine at Morehouse. Saw him play one year and I was like heeeeeeeeeeeey John David. His daddy was there too and he was fine as well.

  • Yoni7

No you’re not. Did you also watch Jessica Jones? That segway’s into Luke Cage.

  • Yoni7

A season 2 of Jessica Jones is out? I wonder if I’ve seen it. It seems like forever.

  • Yoni7

    LMAOOOOOOO

  • Yoni7

The Matrix was written by a black woman, I believe.

  • Lucy

    Did you see Black Panther?

  • Lucy

If we don’t remember our past we are bound to repeat it.

  • Doink_Ahanahue

I agree with you. We just need some feel good movies or something to zone out to. The race issues are real, but I am not in fear of life. My family and I do enjoy life, including traveling in and out of the country, etc.

  • Doink_Ahanahue

Remember it, yes. But it’s almost to the point of using it as a crutch. Our ancestors have been slaves, but they survived and raised the next generation of strong Black people that fought for a measure of freedom and passed on their wisdom and so on. We’ve survived adversity and will continue to. We are intelligent, powerful, innovative and beautiful. The only movie in recent history that celebrated THAT was Black Panther. And though it was directed by a Black man. The character and all that came with it was created by a white man. I agree with @mints, we need to add that to our repertoire more regularly in addition to the other movies and TV shows

  • Doink_Ahanahue

    I thought that too… lol!

  • TOO REAL

I won’t be wasting my money or time. This looks like a film from 1970’s when black movies was breaking out. The plot alone seems uninteresting and boring. We’re trying to stop racism not highlight it.

  • hi-liter

Exactly….she should catch him on HBO Ballers.

  • Kanyade

I love Adam Driver. Also, I’m very interested in this story.

  • Kanyade
  • Trace da Ace

well…..Denzel’s son have some big shoes to fill as far as his acting skills…this movie though…may wait till it is available on Firestick…..Spike’s movie catalog is not all that impressive….so not sure if I want to waste my coins on seeing this in the theaters….its always been a hit or miss with Spike since “School Daze”…..

  • Trace da Ace

hell yeah…I will ALWAYS want to bang Denzel….he will always be fine as hell!

  • Roxie Moxie

It’s the same narrative in Hollywood because we all know who REALLY controls what gets put out. Those that do have some say in what they can produce will only produce the same story line because God forbid they go outside the box…look at what happened when ole boy did a movie about Nat Turner. They destroyed his character even before the movie came out; at the very least, they brought up old sh*t to try and dismantle the importance of the movie. White/Jew Hollywood aren’t letting many “good movies” come out about us like that. I’m surprised we actually got a movie about the 4 black women who were instrumental in the NASA space program. I was shocked!

  • Roxie Moxie

LOL….Denzel is the TRUTH.. Not for nothing, but for some reason, I found him EXTRA sexy in Training Day. lol

  • Trace da Ace

yaaasssss!!!!!! That is my favorite movie of his…don’t know if it was the low cut Caesar he was rocking….but his walk….lawdy!! His walk along make he wanna straddle him…..but training day…yeah it basically solidified my all time crush for him…..

  • Mints

Yes. Wasn’t it refreshing to see an all black cast in a super hero/sci fi movie. It doesn’t happen enough. That’s all I’m saying

  • Roxie Moxie

That WALK though! Like he holdin’ something. *wink* We on the same page with THAT one girl. And he had this confidence about him too. Yeah, he could get it allllll day long!

  • http://thedevereauxshow.com/ Ms.Devereaux

IT was ??? I still don’t look at mayonnaise the same

  • Ebony Starr

At least you were not on your phone. I watch people on the train and everyone is either distracted or asleep.

  • Mrs. S. Kidd

They obviously were going for the 1970s look/feel but I agree with you, it looks uninteresting.

  • Mrs. S. Kidd

I see Denzel Washington’s son is playing lead. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have the range his father did and Spike Lee’s current films do not have the types of serious roles that Denzel used to play.

  • Mrs. S. Kidd

I agree Auntie. Spike Lee’s films have always been a bit weird and he is well past his prime so they have just gotten nonsensical.

  • Mrs. S. Kidd

Facts! I loved Undercover Brother lol

  • Mrs. S. Kidd

The movie was called “Undercover Brother” lol And his last name is “Griffin” lol

  • Mrs. S. Kidd

He’s not going to fill his father’s shoes. He doesn’t have the range but he is a decent actor. And yes, Spike is definitely hit or miss.

  • Dr. P

Just watched the trailer! I am redTAY!

  • Dr. P

have you not seen She’s gotta have it? It’s really good…

  • Vegas1989

I like how he walks…He is so fine. But Training Day had all that cussing….SMH…I’ve never heard so much cussing in my life. But he should have won awards long time ago before this movie. The Equalizer is my favorite movie

  • Elevated Soul

Another divisive movie by Spike Lee. He’s just another “almost has been using the hate the Alt-Left” has for President Trump to make money. He is just another version of the “poverty pimp”.

It is not racist to chant “America First or MAGA”…I’m sick of the racists on the left acting as if they define EVERYTHING!

I rarely go to any movies these days because I’m sick of “Alt- Left” politics being conveyed in these movies.

  • Mints

    I agree

  • Jessica Williams

I liked Luke Cage but I just don’t think I can watch Black Lightning

  • hottlanta

Betta say it. Woody “Sex-Offender” Allen/ Steven Spielberg can make all kinds of lame azz movies and still get support. Black people see one black with an afro and cut the dayum fool. My all time favorite was “When The Levee Broke” and it was about Katrina. I cried for days when I saw it. Love Spike he kept us moving to the movies all summer long from back in the day. He bought Samuel Jackson/Spike Lee and others to the big screen that Hollywood “purposely” looked over and still are. I was happy to see Ozzie and Rudy in a movie together. Did white Hollywood do that. I was mad as all outdoors when they had Cecily Tyson in “Fried Green Tomatoes as a maid in a non speaking role. Thank you Tyler for seeing her much more than that.

  • Mints

Nah I’m good. I choose to think for myself so as to not get caught up in groupthink. We will just agree to disagree because It isn’t that serious. Keep your third eye open though because what you see and whats actually happening tends to be different. I’m done talking about this subject. Peace

  • hottlanta

White folks called the police on black women for playing golf too slow. They need to call the police on you for thinking too slow. Dayum shame Trayvon lost his life because he didn’t have his FREEDOM PAPERS to show to a white man who was hunting him down like an animal. Don’t start nothing you can’t finish because we all know since race has nothing to do with anything and when we discuss it we are playing “victim” according to you, that if Barack did just one percent of what Dump does he would have been impeached by now. I am always talking about this subject. The mistreatment of black folks is a chapter that never closes and we get a new volume to read everyday.

  • hottlanta

Race issues. infidelity, drugs and gangs. Wow sounds like the White House to me. We were loving that little ScarFace round table love fest where Pence was sucking the air out of the room with all of his loyalty. He was trying to out loyal everyone else in the room to Dump. You don’t think those politicans and lobbylists are gangsters.

Must be nice for all these celebrity kid for their parents to get them plump acting roles instead of nobody’s who are probably well trained regular people! JD is hella good looking though, love him on Ballers!

  • Dun Dilly

GONE was NOT SPIKE. I did enjoy INSIDE though.

  • Mister Fantastic

    Yeah my bad.
