Embattled Power 105.1 host Charlamagne Tha God finally commented Monday about a disturbing Podcast dialogue he had with co-host Andrew Schultz about drugging and raping a woman.
Charlamagne's fans and detractors claim he wasn't aware of rape culture in 2015 when he said e slipped Spanish Fly into a woman's drink and had sex with her. But Schultz was aware of rape culture, and he called Charlamagne out more than once for his troubling attitude toward women and date rape.
"You can give a girl Spanish Fly as long as she knows she's taking it," said Schultz. "I don't know why I'm explaining this to you, and it makes me a little bit worried."
In a new Podcast on Monday, Charlamagne changed his story and now claims the woman knew she was taking Spanish Fly.
In 2015, most men were aware that having sex with women without their consent is wrong.
The 40-year-old radio jock, whose real name is Lenard Larry McKelvey, was arrested on July 2, 2001 and charged with “willfully, unlawfully, and feloniously engage in penile/vaginal intercourse with a fifteen year old female child."
14 years later, he was still laughing and cracking jokes about date rape. He even admitted raping his own wife before they were married.
Charlamagne also admitted to raping his wife and stated that him and other guys did a lot of things that were rape when they were younger. pic.twitter.com/ZSJahNA71b

Charlamagne's deep-rooted attitude towards women is worrisome. A petition calling for Charlamgne to be fired has grown to over 19,000 signatures.
The fact that iHeartRadio and HBO continues to employ him lets us know that these corporations hold their employees to a lower standard.
