Melyssa Ford

Melyssa Ford, the former reality TV star and Instagram model who suffered a fractured skull in a near fatal car crash 4 weeks ago, thanked the Good Samaritan who pulled her from the wreckage of her Jeep on a California freeway.

In a social media post over the weekend, the former "Blood, Sweat & Heels" reality TV star updated her fans on her condition and thanked a Good Samaritan who risked his own life to pull her out of the wreckage after it flipped multiple times when she was rear ended by an 18-wheeler.

The 41-year-old also thanked the EMT's and fans who donated to a GoFundMe account to help pay her escalating medical expenses.

Ford said the actions of her rescuers that day helped to restore her faith in humanity.

"I had been having a moment where I feared for humanity. Where it seemed we were more interested in capturing a moment rather than helping a soul in need. My fears were put to rest, by the quick thinking and compassionate actions of the Good Samaritans that helped me, the fast acting EMT workers and trauma staff and Huntington Memorial hospital and by the overwhelming outpouring of support that I’ve received from people all over the world. I’m humbled by the love and care and concern I’ve received."

Police are asking witnesses to come forward to help identify the driver of the 18-wheeler who fled the scene after the accident.

Just over 4 weeks ago I was involved in a near fatal car crash. I have struggled to remember a lot of what happened during the course of my recovery. Due to my skull fracture and concussion, there are parts I may never remember. What I do know now, after seeing photos and hearing the accounts from people that came to my rescue before the EMT’s, is that some incredible human beings stopped to pull me from the wreckage of my Jeep, risking their lives not knowing if the car was at risk of catching fire. They removed their own clothing to place under and around my head to hold the gaping wound to my skull closed, and held a hat over my face to shield me from the sun. Just days before, I had been having a moment where I feared for humanity. I’m humbled by the love and care and concern I’ve received. To my friends who raced to my hospital bed and rallied around me since the day of the crash, you are my forever family. From bringing me everything I could possibly need to having the forethought to start a Go Fund Me to assist with my present and future medical expenses, I’ll never be able to convey how much it has meant to me to know, without a doubt, that you had my back in my greatest hour of need.

It’s a shame I have to do this to let folks know the seriousness of @melyssaford ‘s accident (I got her permission first) but here it is. She was involved in a horrific accident that could have easily taken her life. It’s actually a miracle she survived. She’s injured FOR REAL. She doesn’t even remember this as she has a huge gash in her head and blood on the brain. This was sent to me by a Good Samaritan that didn’t know who he was helping but once he saw the story online he contacted me knowing we’re friends and he was following me. If anyone was a witness to this accident please inbox me any information you may have. As you can imagine Melyssa doesn’t remember much so I’m hoping witnesses will come forward and assist in putting the pieces back together. She was hit by an 18 wheeler. Respect to @manifesting_mary who was the first one to check folks for the poor taste “jokes”. The internet emboldens cowards... it also can shut em down as well. Everyone please send love and prayers to our friend @melyssaford ????

I'm glad she is doing better. She didn't need a GoFundMe. I'm sure the hospital would've worked out a payment plan with her, or if she was destitute the hospital would've written off her bill. This is why having access to AFFORDABLE health insurance is so badly needed, cause you just never know.

  • SummerBaby

I wish her the best while she continues to fully recover.

  • Hill Candy

Glad to hear she doing well. Bu I was thinking the same about the GoFundMe.

  • FukkFolks2018

No my Jessica Rabbit did not almost die! Lord I love her. God bless you Melyssa

  • SummerBaby

    I don’t believe she’s 41..... I think a GoFundMe was a good idea in this situation.

  • ATL White Guy

Seems GoFundMe is sometimes being used as a crutch instead of some personal responsibility. That being said, though, I feel we do need universal health insurance like United Kingdom and Canada, even though those systems have some flaws.

  • Malai

The gofundme for the guy that helped her would’ve been nice... I thought Melissa had money.. she don’t look too fked up financially from all the traveling she did on IG

  • FukkFolks2018

The gag is she is Canadian. Their healthcare is free. She lives and works here though. So not sure how that works. Probably forfeit it if you leave.

  • tintin

i don't think shes to good financially, i think she's just ok i think she stunts for the gram and lives beyond her means that's why the begging for funds. personally living in the states that long, pretty irresponsible of her not to get healthcare

  • WutizstillHERE!

Ok for some who are saying that the Gofundme is a copout and she was flossing for the gram etc. What I know about emergency situations. When you call an EMT on the scene they do an assessment and if an crisis team is called in some hospitals in LA That could be 20,000 minimum and upwards of 45,000 because different trauma specialist and dr are called to come to the ER for you. Now that is JUUUUST the emergency room visit. If there is surgery and hospital time it could reach into the hundreds of thousands quickly..I had a friend who had a motocycle accident. Came out with a sprain ankle and a 38,000 bill because they activiated the trauma team. Some hospitals do use the regulation of if the team isn't used within 30 minutes the normal ER cost will apply..but some do not so.. and also most insurance don't cover at 100% unless you have met deductibles and out of pocket expenses..

  • WutizstillHERE!

Here in Atl the cost for emergency treatment pales in comparison to California even when you have insurance. With car accidents, a trauma unit is called to be on standby which is outside of the normal ER and that is very costly even with insurance. Look it up and you will be shocked to see cost are from 20 to 45,000. just for the ER not mentioning xrays, mri, and if surgery and hospital recovery.. something this bad can wipe out anybody's savings unless you are a millionaire..

  • Alextra Ballard

Claudia trying to raise 100,000 dollas on Gofundme...she stated all the funds will go to melyssa. I guess melyssa will do whatever she see fit. This is my first time hearing about this. Hope melyssa a speeding recovery.

  • Trace da Ace

I am glad that she is ok. This could have been a different outcome for her, so God is Good......

  • Alextra Ballard

You know that hospital ain gon see one brown penny of that Gofund me money. The hospital will absorb the entire bill. Or they may try to sue her at a lata date...Maybe

  • FukkFolks2018

Nobody seems to get any of this. Its just you didnt prepare for an emerg. Why dont folks have proper insurance. Why dont you have the funds. Like folks simply do not get it

  • ATL White Guy

I hear you, emergency costs do rack up quickly and i can see by your info that California is way worse than Georgia. But my counter would be if a person has limited funds wants to help someone on GoFundMe, celebrities needs may get $$ that I could be giving to a more needy family, but that needy family may not have the juice that the celebrity has as far as people talking about their GoFundMe. The more needy people get buried in the noise and may not get the help they need.

  • Yoni7

Almighty bless her, but I swear I heard about this a loooooonnnnggg time ago.

  • Yoni7

    I thought she was older.

  • Ni Ni

I'm sure the hospital would've worked out a payment plan with her
    _____________________
I agree...just like they do for anybody else. I hope she realizes that she needs to get her priorities in order from now on. Find a job that offers health benefits if modeling on the gram won't & if she is able healthwise. I know they wont cover everything, but it helps. Nevertheless, I wish her a speedy recovery.

  • bella28498 .

I hope she feel well soon

  • Logan Roberts

    God bless you Melissa.

  • Applebum

She’s only raised $22,000 in a month? Still have not met her $100k goals? I’m surprised. Ex-video-vixens-lives-matters too. I’ve seen gofundme accounts that are less tragic gets more and in less times. Things like this can really bruise a celebrity’s egos.

  • Drea982

Now I can't understand why a person wouldn't have health insurance, but people are not always going to have thousands of dollars to fork out because insurance doesn't always cover everything. Everyone's situation is different.

  • WutizstillHERE!

OK.. and you're right! It can be sad when celebs take a Gofundme who isn't in need like Kylie who fans are helping her reach a billion through go fund me.. while people who are caught with the issue of paying for food and shelter over insurance really do need this help. I guess the root drills down to moral and value.. do you do whats morally right by helping someone who truly need it vs helping someone you place value on like celebrities..

  • Oh Tommie

She’s supposed to be super tight with Floyd Mayweather but needs a go fund me page? Hmmm okay

  • Stationarity

Her deductible shouldn’t be 100,000 though. I don’t get why she wouldn’t have insurance.

  • pure_rachet

Right? I had good insurance and had foot surgery and they still tried to charge $34,000.

  • BingBangBoom

Looks like she was on the 105 or 405 during the day and nobody seen anything? Especially with LA traffic a 18 wheeler gets away? Something ain't right.

  • KcoolMuziq
  • DREAM KARDASHIANS STROLLER

But not too long ago wasn’t she cursing folks out for not donating????

  • AmericanDream

Was the snark really necessary ?

  • ShWa

    For Real???

  • Applebootay

I didn't even know my deductible was $1500 (PPO) until I needed to get something done. And after that, they only pay 80% of the cost. So she most definitely will need help and then some.

  • ShWa

    Glad she's ok!

  • Simone

Amen! One of my favorite bible verses.

  • Michelle Peele

Yup...that's what happens. Had a co worker from Canada. She and the hubby moved here. He got sick. Company he worked for laid him off. He eventually died; leaving her with $1 million bill!

  • FukkFolks2018

    EXACTLY what I am saying.

  • WutizstillHERE!

Most insurance don't do 80/20. most are as low as 50/50 or even 60/40/ So if you stayed in a hospital and had a large enough bill..you most certainly CAN run a bill that having you pay out of pocket that much! Alot of people who have terminally ill or family with cancer lose houses, cars etc to pay off the bill WITH insurance...I know in GA there is a whole in the system. Georgia was one of the states that refused funding under Obama Care so many people couldn't get insurance because of the price. It is fickled too because if you make over a certain amount you have to pay a large premium. and If you fall under a certain amount if you state didn't opt for the funding you can't get medicaid...alot of young adults between 36-30 fall in the working but still can't afford it or not working still in school and can't get government assisted medicaid. In this case, I have no clue.

  • Tiff J

I remember when she was on Blood, Sweat & Heels, she was getting into selling real estate. I don't know that industry, so I don't know if they offer insurance plans for their workers.

  • ?? Kari ?????????

Yep. She’s mad her celeb buddies didn’t donate and didn’t post the go fund me. She mad $22,000.00 out of $100,000.00 wanted.

  • CocoBabe88

I had no idea it was a hit and run. I really hope they find the driver of that truck. Hoping for her recovery and sending well wishes her way.

  • ?? Kari ?????????

So they started he a gofundme for future expenses of medical, but did she not have car insurance? I did find this, which is pretty fun:

WELL LET'S LOOK AT THE BIGGER PICTURE.
THAT JEEP MELYSSA WAS DRIVING ON 22'S RUN ABOUT $70,000.
IT'S CALIFORNIA, SO HOUSING IS EXPENSIVE. IF SHE DIDN'T OWN A HOME, RENT IS A MINIMUM $2,000 A MONTH.
    HAIR, $500 A MONTH
    MAKE UP, $500 A MONTH
FOOD, RESTAURANTS AND ENTERTAINMENT........THAT SOME MAN DOESN'T PAY FOR, $1,000 A MONTH.
VACATIONS TO EXOTIC PLACES SO THEY'LL BE PHOTOGRAPHED FOR SOCIAL MEDIA, $5,000 A MONTH.

    ......
SORRY 45 YEAR OLD CLAUDIA, BUT NOBODY IS INTERESTED IN FINANCING TRIPS TO EXOTIC PLACES FOR YOU TO TAKE MELYSSA SO "SHE" CAN RECUPERATE AND YOU CAN RELAX!
GET TO CANNES, MILAN AND MONACO ON YOUR OWN BANKRUPT DIME!

  • Ms. Jackson

I'm glad my insurance pays 80/20 for my sickly ass!

  • JENNYJONES1

YES SHE IS LUCK TO BE ALIVE B/C THE ENTIRE JEEP LINE OF VEHICLES HAS GOTTEN THE WORSE RATINGS OF ANY CAR MANUFACTURER!!!! RELIABILITY TO SAFETY TOTALLY THE WORSE!!!! WRANGLER,GRAND CHEROKEE, RENEGADE, ALL OF THEM. THEY ARE AWESOME TO LOOK AT, SUPER COOL BUT NOT GOOD VEHICLES. GOD'S SPEED ON HER FULL RECOVERY......JENNY JONES!!!

  • JENNYJONES1

YOU AND/ OR YOUR FAMILY MUST HAVE BEEN SUPER BLESSED IN LIFE TO NEVER EXPERIENCE A SERIOUS MEDICAL EMERGENCY OR CONDITION B/C WHETHER YOU HAVE INSURANCE OR NOT PEOPLE HAVE TOTALLY LOST EVERYTHING, GONE INTO BANKRUPTCY, HOMELESSNESS, DEATH FROM MEDICAL DEBT. IT WAS A HIT & RUN SO MELISSA CAN'T SUE THE OTHER PERSON'S INSURANCE COMPANY AND MOST PEOPLE DON'T REALLY UNDERSTAND THEIR OWN CAR INSURANCE HAS A CAP AT THE AMOUNT YOUR MED PAY COVERS. MED PAY IS WHAT COVERS YOUR MEDICAL EXPENSES IN A ACCIDENT AND IT'S USUALLY $5-10K THEN YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN HONEY. AND YOUR HEALTH INSURANCE HAS A DEDUCTIBLE AND A CAP ALSO. SO DON'T BE SO QUICK TO LAUGH OR TALK ISH ABOUT SOMEONE 'ACTUALLY IN REAL NEED' HAVING A GO FUND ME PAGE ESP A Z-LIST CELEB. TRAGEDY IS A REALITY CHECK B/C IT SHOWS YOU WHO YOUR REAL FRIENDS ARE AND HOW PEOPLE REAL FEEL ABOUT YOU FOR SURE...........JENNY JONES!!!!

  • Stationarity

Thanks for educating me. I thought my 6k deductible was a lot. If forget about all that 40/60, 25/75 stuff. I have to pick new health insuranceafter relocating to GA. I will pay closer attention now. Thanks for the reminder.

However, she and everyone else should have uninsured motorist insurance. It’s approximately and extra $200 a year for 200k in coverage and other coverages for lost wages etc. can be added on. I am going to check my coverage now. I am pretty sure I am good though cause it believe in mitigating the risks!

  • JENNYJONES1

HOW DO THE KARDASHIAN/JENNERS ALWAYS BECOME PART OF A TOPIC??? I JUST DON'T GET IT. LOL!!!! KYLIE DIDN'T HAVE OR NEED A GO FUND ME PAGE SHE USED SOME OF HER SAVINGS FROM BEING THROWN ON KUWTK AS A CHILD. SHE HAS A MAKE UP LINE THAT YOUNG WOMEN LOVE AND BUY OUT WHICH IS BLASTING HER INTO BILLIONAIRE STATUS. NOW WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT INSURANCE IS 10000% ON POINT WHETHER YOU ARE A NORMAL PERSON OR A A-Z CELEB. MEDICAL ISSUES CAN WIPE A PERSON OUT FINANCIALLY...........JENNY JONES!!!!

  • Karen Brady

I remember back in '89, '90 being told how 'horribly' dangerous JEEP is. The Wrangler at least.

  • JENNYJONES1

AHH JUST B/C SOMEONE IS LABELED A CELEB DOESN'T MEAN THEY ARE RICH. BELIEVE ME THEIR ARE TONS OF PEOPLE WITH FAME AND NO MONEY. 99% OF THESE REALITY 'STARS' ARE NEARLY BROKE, LIVING CHECK TO CHECK, STUNTING FOR THE CAMERAS AND THE GRAM. SOOO IF A REAL EMERGENCY OCCURS THEY ARE SCREWED. MELISSA LIKE 80% OF THESE CELEBS IS A Z-LIST CELEB SO THE MONEY TREE ISN'T GROWING IN HER BACK YARD AND IN THIS SITUATION SHE'S JUST AS NEEDY AS THE NEXT PERSON.........JENNY JONES!!!

  • Karen Brady

But she wasn't showing up on time and whatnot so... she probably got the boot.

  • ChineseCheckers

    Very well said.

  • http://www.missjhaneuniverse.com Monday

Melissa must Still be a Canadian citizen to have a GoFundMe held for her.
Also how Claudia get ANY Approval off of Melyssa to post on social media while she was with a half-crack head open?? Something is just fishy here.

But I am happy to hear Melyssa will recover well. ?

  • Enoughsaid2020

Glad she is getting better. Sending prayers, and strength.

  • Readytochokemothernatureout

What goes up can come down and anybody can be put into a predicament. Bless her healing.

  • Malai

    Tintin absolutely! I agree!

  • Shira Harding-James

    Huh?

  • Shira Harding-James

Wow....and not in a good way!

  • dontgetblocked

The last time I saw her was on a reality show...drunk and twerking. She's had access to stars and fame...albeit thot fame. She and Claudia are over the hill thots. Let their lives be an example of what happens to loose groupies who don't either pop out child support marry one of their sugar daddies.

  • MocaPretty

Where is her money? Wasn't she a real estate agent? This is a lesson to video h0s that you will not be young forever invest or get a job/career

  • missmiami305

Glad she survived. However, she’s supposed to be a wealthy realtor. Catching flights on private jets and driving that EXPENSIVE SUV....I can understand being emotional when going through a tragedy. However, don’t take your frustrations out on the wrong people. Folks give what they want and if they can. It’s that simple. If your industry friends cared they would have covered your medical bills without you having to ask. Sn, years ago it was reported that she was a very mean person with a bad attitude.
