Beyonce's sister, Solange Knowles was among the many celebrities who reached out to Destiny's Child singer Michelle Williams after she was admitted into a mental hospital for treatment of depression.
Williams revealed her struggle with depression in a social media post on Tuesday.
"For years I have dedicated myself to increasing awareness of mental health and empowering people to recognize when it's time to seek help, support and guidance from those that love and care for your wellbeing," she wrote.
Williams said she suffered from depression since the age of 13.
Solange and her mom Tina Lawson sent encouraging messages of support to Williams as she currently undergoes psychiatric treatment.
Solange commented on her Instagram post, writing, "Love u so Michelle! Really proud of you. Sending u all the love in the world."
And Lawson wrote:
"Michelle My Belle, I'm so proud of you! You have given unselfishly of your time and support to so many and I know that you will be the best example of self-care which we all need. Keep being a warrior and an advocate for you. I love and support you with all my being."
Last March, Williams became engaged to Pastor Chad Johnson after a year of dating. Johnson left a comment on Instagram, saying, “I’m so proud of your courage and commitment to this!!” He wrote. “WE are in it together and on an AMAZING journey of watching THE master artist paint a priceless work of art!”
According to TMZ.com, the 37-year-old admitted herself into a facility just outside of Los Angeles and has been receiving treatment there for several days.
