Lil Wayne

Rumors of gunshots fired at a Lil Wayne concert sparked a stampede at the A3C Music Conference in Atlanta on Sunday night.

Wayne’s concert closed out the 3-day music conference at the Georgia Freight Depot in Atlanta on Sunday. Video obtained by WSB-TV shows the chaos that erupted as hundreds of Lil Wayne fans made a mad dash for the exits.

Concertgoers described the stampede on Twitter.com.

“Crowd at @a3c just started stampeding away from the stage, a few min into Lil Wayne’s performance,” Cherie Hu tweeted. “No one knows what exactly happened—some say a brawl spiraled out of control—but security is now evacuating the entire venue. i am safe and will update as i learn more.”

12 people were injured in the chaos, none seriously. Multiple people were treated at a local hospital and released.

Atlanta police say they were no gunshots fired at the concert. The A3C organizers released a statement saying there were no gunshots and the stampede was caused by a fight that broke out in the crowd.

Wayne flew to Atlanta directly from the BET Hip Hop Awards held at the Fillmore Miami Beach, where he won an award on Saturday, October 6, in Miami Beach, Florida.
