Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving now understands the importance of being an educated role model. The 26-year-old NBA star apologized to science teachers for insisting the Earth is flat.

The Boston Celtics star shocked fans around the world when he insisted the Earth was flat during a podcast in February 2017.

After sparking debate in classrooms all over the country, he told the NY Times in June that he wasn’t sure whether the Earth was flat or round.

“I’m not against anyone that thinks the Earth is round. I’m not against anyone that thinks it’s flat. I just love hearing the debate,” he said at the time.

The ‘Uncle Drew’ star apparently changed his mind after speaking with science teachers who re-educated him.

He apologized to science teachers at the Forbes Under 30 summit in Boston.

“To all the science teachers, everybody coming up to me like, ‘You know I’ve got to reteach my whole curriculum?’ I’m sorry. I apologize, I apologize,” he said, as the audience laughed.

Kyrie’s comments bolstered “Flat-Earth” believers and confused social media users who received good grades in their science classes.

Even NBA Commissioner Adam Silver was shocked by Kyrie’s flat Earth announcement.

“Kyrie and I went to the same college. He may have taken some different courses,” Silver said at the time.
