Aries Cobain and children

A pregnant Illinois mother was killed Monday when she was struck by a drunk driver while pushing her stalled car off a road.

Police say Aries Cobian, 29, and her cousin were pushing a disabled Oldsmobile down a road in Streamwood when Hinigo Olivera, 67, rear ended them, pinning Cobian between the 2 vehicles.

No one else was injured in the collision.

Cobian was 12 weeks pregnant when she died. Cobian leaves behind four children ages 10, 8, 3, and 6 months.

WLS reports Olivera was driving under the influence of alcohol. He was charged with aggravated DUI causing death.

According to WBBM, police dash cam video caught Olivera throwing bottles of alcohol out of his truck.

Cobian's sister, Kanaesha Wilson, told WBBM her sister's 3-year-old son constantly asks for his mom.

"He recently asked me, 'Where is mommy? Where is mommy?' And I'm like, I couldn't even explain to him 'where is mommy'. It's heartbreaking."

Olivera was released from jail after posting 10% of a $1 million bond, according to CrimeOnline.com.

Wtf! I literally have a hatred for drunk drivers. It’s a senseless death. Call a fucking Lyft or Uber.

Drunk Driver kill ALOT but receive light punishments. These assholes need THEMOST TIME! This should be considered MURDER aggravated by DUI act to me. If you willfully sit behind the steering wheel of a vehicle intoxicated (especcially when there are pleeenty of Uber and Lyft to get yo ass home)to the point of non-control knowing the law against this, you know the possible dangers in it and still do it.. then you willfully said fuk other people on the road. so cook in prison like the normal murderers. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/7ee213326789da8c38cd6f48b38b83c0913d5380bd129361dd5ed666d29db102.gif

The kids will go to the daddy or daddys. The fathers need to step up. She was pregnant with her 5th child, I have to assume the fathers are in the kids life.

Bless her heart. I wonder if it's too presumptuous to assume she didn't have a reliable man in her life. Had that been me or one of my daughters my husband would have been there ASAP...he's even left work to get me off the side of the road. She had to try and rectify the situation on her own ??

  • Allihave2say

Triple A, $58 per year is a life saver.
Progressive insurance and others as well offer a towing service with your insurance that can get you home safely. Use the 200 miles you get with Triple A first to get you as close to home as possible. Then use your insurance tow policy and perhaps a few pennies on the dollar to get home safely and live another day.

Keep flash lights and reflectors in your vehicle at all times. Be sure to purchase a glass/window breaker, you never know. If you drive in deep water you have 30 secs to 1 minute to break the window and exit. Use an air horn to warn approaching drivers as well as the flash light to get their attention when you are in this predicament. A mirror facing behind you can show you what's approaching.

This has been your transportation minute!

That being sad where was the father of baby number 5? Why didn't he show up to help her?

  • Allihave2say

I need to download this for my screen saver. How do I do it?

Shiiiiittt. They make a way to drive drunk. Trust. That system is not foolproof. Even with the camera. Depending on the company the camera only runs on the first blow. Which means, someone else can blow to star as long as they haven't been drinking. There is a random blow throughout the ride, but they just make that person ride with them and blow in the machine.. as they drive drunk. I've seen it with my own 2 eyes.

I pay whatever I have to for my insurance to make sure I'm safe in an emergency. Forego that dinner out or buying that lipstick to have roadside service and rental cars. Especially women. A woman should always have a reliable car and a back-up plan so that she's never ever stuck out with no help.

  • dontgetblocked

If you don't have a reliable man, please buy roadside service especially if you have children. Since she was already three months pregnant and had a six month old...we'll leave that alone. Let's just say a pregnant should not ever have to push a car. Where was her man???

  • the chosen one

Wow. That was tragic and terrible. I'm sorry to hear that.

This is excellent advice. However, as a mother of 4 with one on the way, money may simply have been too tight. If she’s pregnant and pushing an Olds, it doesn’t sound like she had roadside anything...

Last week on FB there was a story and pictures of a mother who was 8 months pregnant when she was hit by a drunk and her and her baby were killed. He was only charged with the mom's death because Ca sucks, and a fetus that could have lived had it been allowed to be born is not considered a life except in cases of murder. The idiot who hit her was at a B-Day party earlier in the day I guess Live streaming, because the husband&father of the victims posted that video, PLUS video the drunk SOB took at the crash scene! Drunk AF, Police lights flashing off of his car, but I don't know what he was saying because he was speaking Spanish. One comment said he was trying to blame the victim for the crash, and another comment said he was worried about his car. The mom was in her casket holding her baby in her arms. The dad and other kids were holding the baby. I saw the baby in the casket last, so when I first saw it, I didn't know she was gone. I had one of those cries where you have a burning lump in your throat when I saw that.

  • the guest

    Amen.

  • the guest

To go through all those lengths to be a drunk and put people's lives at risk. Just plain evil.

  • the guest

My heart goes out to this devastated family. There are no words for the magnitude of their loss and grief.

I feel families need to adopt as local and walkable lifestyle as possible. Families, whether rich, middle class, and lower income are walking to and from local schools, market, church, library, coffee shop, museum and becoming less dependent on cars.

Nothing is absolutely safe but the roads are getting crazier with irresponsible and drunk drivers.

It's a little safer to have at least a lesser car dependent life.

  • the guest

    Agreed.

  • 6ue$$imh8n

Maybe they didn't have money for a tow.

  • 6ue$$imh8n

By the sounds of the car I don't think she have full coverage. And I definitely don't think I tow truck was in route. But you are right I'm understanding why none of them waited for a man to come on the scene

  • 6ue$$imh8n

    Exactly

  • 6ue$$imh8n

Do you really think somebody was coming? Do you actually think she had full coverage on that old car? The best thing for her to do was to call a man and come assist her.

  • 6ue$$imh8n

Right!! I'm trying to understand did they not have cell phones either. Why wouldn't they just call their man or the men in their life. Wow

  • bella28498 .

I’m shocked her boyfriend or husband would allow her to drive something so old and unreliable with his kids in tow. One time my husband and I seen a woman walking in the snow with 3 kids all under 4. I almost had a heart attack watching that and we picked her up and took her to her destination but all I could think about was why is her baby daddy letting her travel by foot in snow with kids.

  • TMW

OT: I am totally disgusted and saddened by the story yesterday of the dead babies being found in a shuttered Cantrell funeral home in Detroit. I was going to use them for my husband’s services, and when I say I walked in there and something didn’t feel right? I just told them I had found better pricing and walked out, when in fact the place I went was a lot higher. They closed this one down last year for all types of violations...but there is another one. I feel bad for the families dealing with all this.

My my how society has evolved.

Children were once viewed as blessings to family and families were a village devoted to the next generations' well being and success.

Now children are reviled and viewed with scorn. I'd rather help relatives with children than spend on frivolous luxuries.

There are actually non profit organizations that will donate a car to women, men, and families in need.

  • dontgetblocked

She was pregnant and she had a six month old. That fact that she would get out of the car and push it while pregnant says a lot. She didn't have the means for a decent car or roadside service. And the father or fathers of her babies are useless. However, she made the choice to procreate with these men or men. She was only 29 and had five kids. It's sad that the children have to suffer.

  • the guest

That’s what is wrong in society today. There was a time when families, neighborhoods, communities were in partnership to raise up successful children. Now children are viewed with repulsion and resentment when they are the future. Worse, mothers and motherhood are viewed with disdain.

  • chaisun

Not everyone is equipped financially to take on a newer vehicle. Maybe she was saving for one, maybe she had bad credit, maybe she just totaled it and had to drive that, maybe she used that money as a down payment for a house, maybe it had been running perfect up until that day. With four kids maybe a newer vehicle wasn’t her priority.

  • chaisun

How do you know that they are useless? How do you know she procreated with different men?

  • chaisun

Right. A whole lot of judgement, assumptions and generalizations. This Black woman had a vehicle that broke down and she had 5 children that are left without their mother and that should be the end of it. No one knew what her situation was but for some reason they feel the authoritative need and entitled to turn her into the bad person when she was indeed the actual victim. I don’t get it.

  • the guest

Her children all look alike. They just vary in color but that is common among creole and caribbean people of color which is what she and children look like culturally.

  • nomika brown

I see that a lot of people on this blog making negative comments about this young woman like why was she pushing her own car and why did she have four kids and speaking on what type of mother she was it seems to me that instead of saying why was he driving drunk it's so sad this young mother is not here to take care of her children anymore it saddens me that we pass judgement on this young women and not the person who killed her we are all on borrowed time and not a day is promised to no one we all have to be more mindful of other people may God bless this young woman and her family

Most women go to nail shop once or twice a month for a refill of their acrylic nails, full set or nail polish. Skip one or two months and pay Triple A. Polish your nails at home or go natural for amount. Get your car serviced. When income tax comes by a 2nd cash car, not a tv, Jordans for the kids, Barbie Jeeps and crap. Set your house in order first so you can get back and forth safely that's all I'm saying.

Learn to do the acrylics at home then do it for your family & friends to earn an extra buck. My staff refuses to coupon they turn up their noses at the idea. Every other week they have new wigs. Why? I get protective styling but you're on the bus, walking, it's raining but you don't have an umbrellas you're shielding your new wig with a plastic grocery bag. SMH. #priorities.

Stop...why? Because I’m not judging this woman and won’t let other people do so at her death. You people put so much focus on the wrong stuff. There are many factors that could contribute to the reason to why her man or husband or partner wasn’t there. The baseless assumptions are so rudimentary and not necessary. Instead of mourning her death y’all are passing judgment on her when you don’t even know her! It’s silly.
