Rihanna, Colin Kaepernick

Rihanna showed her support for SJW activist Colin Kaepernick by turning down an offer to perform during halftime at the upcoming Super Bowl game in Atlanta in 2019.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Rihanna was the frontrunner for next year's Super Bowl halftime show. CBS and the NFL reached out to the Bajan singer first, before they contacted rapper Cardi B.

A source tells ET that "after thinking about the offer, Rihanna decided to pass due to the NFL and the situation regarding players kneeling."

The source continued, "The offer and exposure would have been great for Rihanna as she's planning a new album and tour but she stuck to what's right in her eyes."

Pop singer Pink also declined to perform due to the unemployed quarterback's ongoing legal issues with the league.

Cardi B is currently in negotiations to perform at halftime alongside pop/rock band Maroon 5.

    Interesting.

  • cherrypie

Rhianna is my girl. Has been for years. I applaud her for doing this. Meanwhile, ya'll girl Cardi is BEGGING to perform.

  • Wreckognize Game

Rihanna doesn't ever have to sing one note and she will be alright. She is an international fashion Icon.

Cardi want a check by any means necessary chile smh

  • Mr.LeBrickJames

Good for her. You've got the league basically blackballing a black man for silently expressing his views, but at the same time they want to hire black entertainers for their SuperBowl. I'm glad somebody had the courage to say no to the NFL and their money.

  • Gloria

She's willing to sell her soul for a check SMH

  • Gloria

Rihanna is a real black queen, okay? She has standards and morals and really, never has to step foot on a stage again if she doesn't want to. She's set for life #queening

  • tintin

but she has to.. Cardi time soon be up, she better get it while she can.

  • ohdearme

What a great feeling to know that money isn't everything to some, great job to both professionals for having standards and morals.

It has been twisted around and has become an affront to the flag and veterans!! WHAT THE FAWK!!!?? Same as BLM which should have been Black Lives Matter TOO. You have to stand for something!!!

  • MrsSpice1

  • We Can Do This

I always liked her I stand alone disposition. She has that I don't need no one attitude that's not fake.

  • FukkFolks2018

Robyn's island still is very much is influenced by coloziners. Not like they turned over control hundreds of years ago. It was just in the late 60's/early 70s. They still celebrate damn British ass Boxing Day. She kinda doesnt have a real dog in the fight. Glad she didnt do it though. But if she would have I wouldnt have been mad.

Alecia Beth AKA Pink is a prime ass example of folks who speak up about Trump.... but dont shit happen to them bc of cave demon priv. Glad she didnt do it either tho. Bc she has been mad vocal against him.

Pop singer Pink also declined to perform due to the unemployed quarterback’s ongoing legal issues with the league.

NO...Pink didn't turn the NFL down for this reason, she turned them down because the Negotiations (MONEY) took too long, not because of Colin Kaep.

I use to like her as well... I am all for people being who they are and are not afraid to show it like the K Micheles, Rihanna, Amber, Cardis of the world because they remind me of me I have always been in my own lane and not afraid to be me etc but at the same time I had to really sit and think about being a fan of certain people vs being down for my people and I had to let Cardi and Amber go do to recent things they have said in the media... some things I can not and will not ignore because being a fan will never put no money in my pocket so fuk em

  • http://www.4flavorsofmecreolemami.com/?m=1 ?4FlavorsOfMe ?????CreoleMami?

Yessss stand for something or fall for any and everything literally

  • Yardgirl

    Yes ma'am!!

  • FukkFolks2018

":However, a second source involved in the conversations says that the NFL approached both Rihanna and Pink -- who was tasked with singing the National Anthem ahead of Super Bowl LII back in February -- to perform at halftime early on, but because the negotiations took so long, both women decided to move on.

The source adds that Kaepernick was not mentioned in those early discussions."

    Says both.

Great exposure for Rihanna ? She doesn’t need the NFL for that. Cardi was just taking pictures with Colin and thanking him for what he’s doing lol she’s going to cross over and be a Latin artist mark my words she just lays up with black men and calls black women roaches even though we made her famous.

  • TrollingStoned

I don’t think they get paid to perform

  • BeUtFullSoul

    Yes! @rihanna ??

  • hi-liter

Right, but it cover the cost of the performance...that’s what I’m talking about.

  • Mama Dee’s Wig Maker

  • the guest

Congratulations to Rihanna and Pink for their principles and courage to decline the NFL offer!

Congratulations to Cardi B and Maroon 5 who I know will speak up in support of Colin when they perform.

NFL will not get around social accountability for their Jim Crow policies and employment discrimination against Colin Kaepernick.

  • the guest

They can't say it, but it's definitely part of the reason why. His impact is such that his plight will influence any artist either declining or accepting the offer as a statement or platform to support him.

  • the guest

Cardi has some "speak up" under her sleeve.

I don't think she should do it for her safety.

  • Dun Dilly

    FAKE SPIN:

No one's checking for RIRI's low energy performance at a SUPER BOWL. Only BEYONCE and the real "PERFORMING" types need apply. The KAP issue is dead. NFL ratings are back up, there are less than 5 players who still kneel. Nothing to see here folks.

  • Knocked Kneed and Pigeon Toed

See that's the thing about Riri. She's self made and is making just as with her makeup as she did with her music. She doesn't need handouts at this point.

Congrats to Cardi and Maroon 5 on the superbowl performance. No shade but with both of these entertainers being non black I think it fits perfectly. I would feel some way with a black entertainer performing at the halftime show with all this racial ish going on. It's too soon.

  • Coffee1st

Rhi seems to march to her own music. Doing her own thing.
At any rate, HUGE ups to her for this.
Ni let me see what Cardis gon do. I know she aint black, but her husband is.

  • Coffee1st

    They know.

  • Jersey Girl

she gon do it and twerk on stage! and stick out her tongue! (rolling my eyes)

The NFL has dropped its conduct policy on kneeling players. Players are free to do as they please without repercussion. Kap won this round.

  • Alextra Ballard

  • what?why

    She was never asked #FACT

  • Faithz

The Writer Wrote this: The NFL and its players union have announced a "freeze" on a new league policy on football players who protest during the national anthem. The two agreed to the delay as they try to resolve the contentious issue.

  • Faithz

Didn't Jayz Refuse to Perform as well?

  • Faithz

When are wealthy, old white men like Dump and his corny, senile pencils want write any longer as going to wake up and realize that black men kneeling peacefully isn't
un-American but that presidents (Dump) standing next to and lusting after authoritarian leaders is?

  • bemetoo

  • seun

Never. She needs all the promo she can get to sell those albums and tour tickets so she can pay her Sony debt.

Yet another reason why I lubs me some RiRi.

  • RiDONKulous

At least someone has morals and integrity in the industry! Bravo Rihanna!

  • SingleGalCrazyWorld

Cardi can do it...at this point she is a pro and coonin and shucking...I can see Atlantic's business plan with her. They will expose her to the masses until they use her up...this girl has attacked people at events left and right and the crowd still goes wild about her...

  • bemetoo

careful the beehive gonna get u

  • Faithz

    Hahahahah.

  • Faithz

It sure was, and right on point. Many knows exactly what's
going on but refuse to acknowledge it.

  • dontgetblocked

Stupid! That's great publicity. No one cares about Colin. He made his choice.

  • Faithz

I used to defend Rihanna to the Hilt, about Performing But since she has Joined the so called big girls, and been able to cross over the 140-Million Gross on Tour, That is right up there with the Likes of Usher, Jayz, Beyonce , Mariah, Mary J , the Big Entertainers. And Eminem is one of the Biggest Sellers of Music with Diamond Albums, and Rih was able to do a Joint with him called
"Live Your Life" which has over a Billion Views, and Double Diamonds, Plus Many more Platinum in Sales Therefore Defending Negativity isn't at all necessary, because you see the proof is in the Pudding.
1,621,288,491 Views, and this Single is one of Eminem Biggest selling Singles,
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uelHwf8o7_U

  • Jesse

Rihanna doesn't need the publicity. And only racist and coons like yourself don't care about Colin.

  • Faithz

The Players Union got this, and there is something there for them to see, you hide and watch. Oh and Rihanna sold the 02 Arena out ten (10) times on one of her Tours, and if she wasn't able to Perform then they must have had a Pity party for her, and paid her anyway, and its all in her Goody bag.
And if you can do that well you don't have to ever get sweaty , and dripping sweat all over the floor, and shaking like a bytch in heat like Bey does. Because there's people who will pay money to see Rihanna strut, her long legged as across a stage just to "Breath"
on a Mic, go and tell your friends.

  • Faithz

Off Topic,,,Think on these things,,,,Rihanna net worth is 230-Million
Not bad for a chic who came from the "Bottom Up" and isn't able to drop it like a shake dancer on stage, (Beyonce)
And just so you'd know it's Impressive that Rih helped Mac raise 50 Million toward Hiv/Aids Charity, and She worked with The UK to help them to help raise money for schools all around the World where they raised a Billion Dollars to help , that is amazing to me. Not to mention that she have Raised Million for her GranGran Cancer Charity.

  • YouWontSayItButIWill

Just like no one cares about you.

  • Rhyme and Reason

Colin is making the statement that no matter how good you are, what you make of yourself in this country, you can and will be treated like a common street thug!

Like the Black professional tennis player tackled to the ground, on his way to the French Open to see Serena play, or Jamie Foxx tells a story of driving in an affluent hood and being stopped, and how things could have easily went south and deadly!

Colin, John Legend, Tyler Perry, LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Jamie Foxx, my cousins, my black doctor, your brother, son or nephew and can die at the hands of a trigger happy executioner [police officer], in the middle of a moment!

    Kudos to Rihanna and Pink!

And that's why YOU'RE responding to MY post.

  • dontgetblocked

So black people are monolithic. We ALL support Colin. NOT! You'll find the average...educated, well-employed black person understands there are rules at work. He broke the rules and got fired!

  • dontgetblocked

Because every single black person supports Colin. We all think alike?? If not we're mentally disturbed coons? Do you see how stupid you sound??? Or are you too stupid too realize it???

  • dontgetblocked

Here's a note to all of you sheep. Not every black person supports Kaepernick. In fact, most educated, experienced, and employed people don't. The NFL has rules. He broke them and got fired! The same would happen to most people at their jobs. A workplace is NOT the environment to express your political views...EVER! I'm black and I don't support his method of protest. If I did the same, I'd expect to be fired from my job. COMMON SENSE PEOPLE!!!

  • Jesse

Stfu. I've seen your pathetic a** coon rhetoric all over this blog. Your opinion holds as much weight as Trumps opinion on BLM. Now go take your medication clown.

  • Mikayla

Y’all sure that’s the reason or that’s the publicized reason and she just don’t want to perform fat?

  • Mikayla

It’s not a platform or statement if they scared to say it. Rihanna ain’t fooling me. She don’t want that lifelong fat footage of her wobbling around that super bowl stage.

  • MissyJ

No. I wouldn't. I have never stood for a pledge or anthem. When I went to school it was mandatory and I sat K-12. And standing for the anthem was a part of my job as well, I sat or removed myself.

I just left my job because they wanted to me change managers and that move was not conducive to my career goals. Working directly under the VP benefited me, working under some BS Asst. Director did not. They had me in front of the in house counsel trying to thinly veil 1) get me to agree 2) stay long enough to train my replacement. I declined, stood up for myself, asked who was gonna check me boo?! and had 3 offers within 3 weeks all with at least a 6% increase in salary and bounced (and I didn't even take the one that offered the most money). Plenty of people have real integrity and are not desperate for a check they lose their values on the altar of direct deposit.

  • ?Patty Kakes?

Well who do you think would be a good half-time preformer?

  • Mikayla

Good That Jayz gave her , that first Real Break,,,she was only 16 in 2004 when she met with Jay Z, then president of Def Jam, at the company’s midtown headquarters, according to John Seabrook’s recent book, “The Song Machine.” After hearing her sing a ballad and what would become her first hit, “Pon de Replay,” Jay Z offered her a contract and then refused to let her leave until the details were settled and she was signed to the label.

“There are only two ways out,” Jay Z told Rihanna, according to Seabrook. “Out the door or through this window.” She said she was flattered and chose the door, signing the contract in the middle of the night.
And as we all know the rest is history.
