IV drug user

A Saks Fifth Avenue employee has been identified as the man found dead in the upscale apartment of Democratic mega-donor Ed Buck. The LA County Coroner’s Office identified the man as 55-year-old Timothy Dean of West Hollywood.

First responders found Dean unresponsive in Buck’s apartment around 1 a.m. Monday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dean was an employee at Saks Fifth Avenue. He is the second man to be found dead inside Buck’s apartment in the last 17 months.

Buck’s attorney, Seymour Amster, said Dean was already high on drugs when he arrived at Buck’s apartment. But a neighbor who was walking her dog just before midnight on Sunday said she observed Dean at Buck’s door buzzing the intercom to gain access.

She said Dean did not appear to be under the influence of drugs. He acted normally. He was not staggering or stumbling around.

Protesters held a rally outside Buck’s apartment the day Dean’s body was found.

Organizer and activist Jasmyne Cannick said, “Arrest Ed Buck, prosecute Ed Buck, and then a jury needs to convict Ed Buck. This man has had two dead bodies in his house, and he is still in his house.”

In July 2018, Cannick tweeted: “If another young, Black gay man overdoses or worse dies at Democratic donor Ed Buck’s apartment it’s going to be the fault of the sheriff’s dept and L.A. District [Attorney] for not stopping him when they had the opportunity to.”

Buck is an openly ghey 65-year-old man who is a well-connected liberal donor. Buck has donated over $1 million to Democratic politicians, including Hillary Clinton and former President Barack Obama.

Los Angeles County police are investigating Dean’s death.

Gemmel Moore, 26, died from a methamphetamine overdose in Buck’s apartment in July 2017. Investigators found the apartment littered with sex toys and drug paraphernalia. Additionally, bags and syringes with drug residue were recovered from the apartment.

Moore’s mother, LaTisha Nixon, said Moore was a sex worker. She accused Buck of injecting her son with the drug and she believes Buck got a thrill from giving Black males intravenous injections and watching their reactions.

Moore kept a diary in which he detailed Buck injecting him with drugs.

A transgender person who spent time with Buck in his apartment recently says he is lucky to be alive.

The person told a reporter that Buck injected him with a drug. He took photos of Buck standing over him as the drug’s effects began to wear off. He also took photos of drug paraphernalia and sex toys in Buck’s apartment.
