XXXTentacion

XXXTentacion's family has announced the birth of the slain rapper's son, Gekyume Onfroy. The healthy baby boy was born on January 26 - three days after what would have been X's 21st birthday.

X's mom, Cleopatra Bernard, and the baby's mother, Jenesis Sanchez, announced the arrival of Gekyume on Saturday, Jan. 26.

In a post shared on her Instagram Story, Bernard simply wrote: "Yume has officially arrived. We're happy to confirm that baby and mother are healthy."

She also explained the origins of her grandson’s name.

"Gekyume's name is derived from a word X created prior to his passing, which means 'a different state' or 'next' universe of thought. XXXTentacion specifically chose this name for his first born son; his family is honored to fulfill his wish and shower baby Gekyume with love".

After his death, his mother announced his girlfriend was expecting X's baby. The announcement left fans confused. They initially believed the pregnant mom was the rapper's ex-girlfriend Geneva Ayala. But a fan pointed out Ayala commented "Congratulations" under his mom's post.

X, who died at a age 20, is considered a legend by his legion of fans. He remains the voice of his generation.

XXXTentacion, real name Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was shot and killed during an armed robbery outside a motorcycle dealership in Deerfield Beach, Florida, north of Fort Lauderdale, on June 18.

Four men have been arrested in connection with his murder.

  • IyanlaVanzantoftheInterWebs

Chile... I’ve been reading that the streets have been saying that Ms Cleopatra orchestrated her sons murder ?

  • IyanlaVanzantoftheInterWebs

Just like that lady that named her kid ABCD pronounced ABSEDY..

Parents need to THINK about how the “uniqueness ?” of the name will affect the child in life before naming them that BS???

  • HotInCleveland

Good luck to that baby, he’ll need it.

  • pure_rachet

So he got high then made up a word so she names the baby that? Sounds like DMT.

  • Andrea Williams

    "Gekyume?" .........Why Lawd Whyyyyy?

  • Dowoop

    Don't hold your breath.

  • Marlika

    Right!

  • Kimocha

    Poor child!... Bless his heart.

  • dru and neil

That name is going to be a pain in the ass. Take it from someone with a pain in the ass name that’s been deemed “unique.”

  • Dowoop

His father was pbly high when he "put some thought" into that name.

  • Ni Ni

That was a pitiful looking young man, smh.

  • CookieMobster

I'm with you on that. My friend was telling me about someone she knew of whose daughter's name was pronounced Co-Shanay... but it was spelled C-o-c-a-i-n-e. True story.

  • RaginB

  • Yardgirl

    Chile!! *sigh*

  • Renee26

I wonder how they are pronouncing this made up name... Geek-Yah-Mee??

  • Kanyade

because you can. same way slaves created names for their children with meanings important to them. same way pretty much any group of people since the dawn of time created names for things with meaning to them.

  • Renee26

She told you why... Cause the daddy wanted it that way.

  • Nik

Geck-Yoom. There's a video on Insta where X pronounces it. Your version sounds muuuuuch better.

  • IyanlaVanzantoftheInterWebs

I am STILL trying to figure out where the “word” ain’t came from?

? people make up names all the time... and they make up unique ways to spell the more common names. That child won't have to worry about sharing that name with anybody else that's for sure

  • Renee26

    OK ... Poor tink tink

  • Junkanoo

That's the curious thing about life we invent many things then come to think of them as real but at some point someone created it and after generations of conditioning we think of it as real but is it really or only our perception makes it seem real. Life is full of illusions few things are actually real.

  • Keekz

    Congrats to them.

  • Blue

    lol

  • free

i'm still trying to digest that.

  • Logan Roberts

    Sigh...

  • GAPeach

My son's father wanted his middle name to be Abner after his grandfather. We can't always get what we want.

  • Renee26

    Lol Abner...that's cute

  • KcoolMuziq

This is going to be one RICH CHILD as the SOLE heir.

  • JazzyBossyJen
  • Lorna

While I don't enjoy the sound of that name and have only read bad things about his father, I hope he finds comfort one day in the fact that he was a part of his father's dreams/goals and has a name that his dad intended for him. A lot of kids don't have that sort of connection with an absent parent.

  • Blak

    poor kid..

  • Parent

This makes me said. I just want to save all our black men. They go through it!

  • Parent

    Very damaged looking.

  • GAPeach

    LOL! Girl stop lying!

  • Renee26

It is... A cute little old man name ?

  • Andrea Williams

Lol, well just because he wanted it, was no reason for her to carry that out. She could have easily named it something else at it's birth without repercussions. You got to think of the hell the kids might go through because of their madeup names. IJS

  • GAPeach

Yup. Old, is the operative word. Ain't no way I was gonna saddle my boy with that.

  • Skin Deep Beauty

This xxx is being hailed and continuously written about. NEVER HEARD OF HIM UNTIL HIS DEATH! Then what I've read about he was nothing to write home and tell Mom about. But oh well I guess my OLD AZZ don't know nothing! ! I'm not hip!

  • Jethro

    Yeah, how that work? ?

  • jujumanji

It's a derivative of am not not quite a contraction. No I am not turned into no I ain't instead of no I'm not. Its the watered down version.

  • SeehereSeehere

Gekyume is a Japanese word meaning sphere eyes. Loosely speaking it shares much of the same meaning as his spin on the word. The hardest thing for a person to do is change. Not only did he change for the better but he was a rare positive voice. That is what makes his passing so heartbreaking. He finally makes a positive turn and then he’s gone. Check out his video. Makes one wonder if he knew what was coming https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DW3tI9HCslo

  • IyanlaVanzantoftheInterWebs

    ?

  • joel adams

Why couldn’t they just name him Leroy? Would’ve rhymed with his fathers last name. His dad was a rapper right? Ijs. Leroy Renfroy or w/e

  • Malai

I just HATE that the video of his dad being murdered will be there for him to see when he gets older... ? that’s the awful part about the internet :(

  • Malai

His mama seem like an old hoe tbh.. u should see the sh*t she post... she seem to care more about material things.. I hope she have a job and don’t plan on living off X $ forever

  • Meme

    ??

  • ZRoJoTheLezBeyond

I'm right there with you and I don't care about being hip anymore. I'll be 42 in the summer so my cares for being "hip" have long gone..

  • Patricia

i saw he was into a lot of devil mess, 666's and baphomets and all

  • Chuck

XXX chose the name, before his death.

  • joel adams

    Oh. I’ve moved on

  • EMILY POST

The fact that when he was alive people were banning his music makes this new found appreciation for him fake and fraudulent. The record companies have no shame.

  • P3

X had a trust/will leaving errryting to mom and brothers.

  • KcoolMuziq

That was before his son was born or even thought of now his son is his only heir.

  • Overpower Radio

Hopefully, his son will be protected from the demons he struggled with, and that freedom from mental illness and depression he was searching for and wished upon others will be blessed to his son.

  • The Goode Queen

Sandra, why couldn't you put a "pronounced like" next to it so we could know how to say it? ?
