Welcome Ciara to Team Natural. The Seattle homemaker and part-time entertainer showed off her natural hair in a video uploaded to her Instagram account on Sunday. The 33-year-old mom-of-2 has worn bundles of hair weave and lacefront wigs since her career launched with her hit single "Goodies" in 2004.

Lately, the singer has grown wary of the effects of hair weave and extensions products on her natural hair. Specifically, the loss of her edges and constant breaking and shedding of her natural hair.

Recently, Ciara ditched her long extensions for her own natural tresses that grow from her scalp.

On Sunday, she shared a video on Instagram showing how she can now tie her long hair up into a ponytail.

"The first time I got a relaxer when I was young, it took out my hair. I was devastated. I never thought my hair would grow back. So proud," she captioned the video.

In the video, Ciara teased fans that she would share all of her long hair "secrets" at a later date.

The clip has quickly racked up over 1.8 million views, with fans praising the star's decision to embrace her own hair instead of experimenting with wigs or hairpieces.

"Long hair don't care," one user wrote in the comments, while a second stated, "Because we're not meant to get relaxers Queen our hair texture is meant to stay in its natural hair state #teamnatural."

"Her hair is long because she got rid of all the negative stuff," one user insisted.

Another follower suggested that Ciara's new look is due to her happy home life, since marrying Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson in 2016.

Last week, Ciara posted a natural raw selfie that showed her makeup free skin and natural hair.

"No makeup. No extensions. Vulnerable. My Beauty Marks and all. The real me.. and I love it. Finally embracing myself fully! It feels good," she captioned the image. CiCi challenged her 21.9 million followers to go makeup free and remove their hair extensions.

Ciara is still recording music. The "1, 2 Step" singer has sold over 7 million albums in her career.

I'm perplexed as to why there is so much hoopla over this. They are entertainers so costume, makeup etc is part of the act BUT DAYUM they are not the first to rock natural hair length nor minimal if not no makeup at all... There are millions of black women who can run circles around them WITHOUT EFFORT yet they're is no comrade about it!

  • B.Loveitt

    Well let me tell you...

  • hottlanta

Russell paid for her music masters she had in a storage unit gathering dust. So l guess he paid for all of her fake followers as well.

  • bemetoo

She should post a challenge of her singing abilities

  • that_VA_thickchick

Yeah some people might just have extreeeeeemely fragile hair but most often it's due to some sort of human error. Put it on top of another chemical, left it in too long, bought Super when it should have had Regular or Mild...etc.

  • 2gr8ful

“In the video, Ciara teased fans that she would share all of her long hair "secrets" at a later date.”

Let me tell you a secret and you don’t have to wait on it...Do what works for you. I know people that “protective style” (weaves, wigs, braids, twists etc) and others that don’t and they grow and retain the same amount of length. One product may work wonders on you and have my hair looking a hotmess even though we have the same texture (so we think). It is NOT as complicated as people make it. You don’t have to buy 100 different products to get the “look”. Water goes a long way, but so does patience. Accept the fact that long hair may not be your genetic makeup so appreciate your short healthy hair and be happy. Lastly, don’t compare your hair to someone else, you should embrace your own journey and rock it.

  • B.Loveitt

She's only famous now because of whom she sleeps with and have kids by.

  • T Willis

So, “Beauty Marks”, is the title of her upcoming album, and the name of her music label? Lol smh and these are some of the joint ventures between her and Russell? ????? How do you invest in your own music and label, but roll out the concept (“Beauty Marks” aka natural beauty) less than a month before your album drops? There should have been an actual campaign centered around her label and the concept at least 6 months ago. See, this is why...????? Lmao ... Russ, invest well lol...

    ??? Alexander O’Neal?????.

  • T Willis

    Great advice.

  • Skin Deep Beauty

I like her BUT her fortunate "landing" is becoming OVERKILL!!

  • Candie P

I'm so confused... a celebrity posts a video to THEIR 21 Million subscribers/fans/etc. of her doing everyday life things and a blog chose to pick it up and exploit it for their subscribers, and said Blog subscribers willing click on the video (TO BE NOSEY) and the Celebrity is Labled the Thirsty one??? LOL what a world we live in. *Face Palm*

  • T Willis

    ???

  • Mama Dee’s Wig Maker

    Lol

  • Candie P

How does one click on a video of someone they do not like? I'm not being funny, I am really curious. I'm not fond of the Kardashians (No hate) just not interested in anything they do or say, so I make it a conscience decision NOT to even click and give their post any views because I am simply uninterested. You should try it one day on a Ciara post, it may be therapeutic.

  • WhooCares

    I concur

  • WhooCares

    Ur not alone

i had relaxers damn near my whole life and my hair is as long and healthy as sh*t...and i don't have cancer. meanwhile the newer relaxers are much better. sh*t, them old-time and cheap ones was tough as hell to get through but my hair never suffered. blame the stylist for f*cking up your head.

  • T Willis

I just read an article that said that they’re just now linking cancers and fibroids with relaxers. We already gamble with our health with inactivity and our dietary habits, eliminating relaxers should be the easiest to wean ourselves off.

  • free

chile, i did that color+relaxer thing too fast cause i was traveling to see my lil boo at the time. my stylist was like "i'on know about this..." but i was like DO IT! chile, i get in his truck and he had black seats. i sit back and ride and then, when i sit up, why i saw my hair on them seats?? i ain't got a permanent color since!

  • T Willis

Ciara needs to focus on getting those 21 million subscribers to pay $1.29 for her singles. The focus should be on making money lol not hair tutorials lmao smdh

  • Coy little wink

Nope. I didn't click the link.

But yes to all the rest. Who gone check me boo?

  • 2gr8ful

    ??

  • hottlanta

Dont compare your relationship with someone else. Yall might get up one day n discover russell is bat azz crazy. It funny how she has all the time in the world 2 b on the internet since she has gotten married. When she was single never heard anything from her. Now she is all over the place.

  • hottlanta

It is always something. They blame air for asthma

  • Joy King

Maybe Russell finally makes Ciara feel secure about her looks, unlike those music industry dudes who probably made her feel basic. Hopefully she's found that self love all women need to have for themselves.

  • Li-Wright

I am of the belief that black women have hair like Ciara's -- or can use products that make their hair like Ciara's and don't need to wear all these weaves and wigs. If you're in entertainment, that's one area you need wigs and weaves. But the average black woman, with the right products can have soft manageable hair. I just think women are lazy. I see little girls now wearing their hair natural in pony tails and puffs.

  • Naomi

Agreed. I had relaxers up until I was 28 and moved to NC. Then I had a hair stylist who didn't know what she was doing and completely DESTROYED my edges...SMH

  • free

ok well i do have fibroids!

  • Li-Wright

She's not doing anything different than Ariana, Madonna, Beyonce and so many others do....did I mention the Kardashians? They're using social media to connect and sell.

  • Li-Wright

    She's really just mediocre talent.

  • free

i see they say there is a racial disparity with the fibroids because it's always black women. so when they sampled black women, almost all of them had relaxers. so then i look up the pthalates they are talking about and they are found in everything, including white women and men.

  • Kayke

  • hottlanta

That aint nothing new. Soooo tired of folks acting as if natural hair is something. Have u seen a picture of african woman out n in church. A lot of them got weaves n perms n aa women over here try to romanticize natural hair.

  • T Willis

Lmfao!!! I’m so sorry girl! Mine was embarrassing too? I was in a salon full of ppl Lawd ?? i legit almost cried *in* the salon lmao but I thankfully my mom and best friend were making jokes about the situation ? and everyone kept reminding me that: ITS JUST HAIR & it will grow back lol. But for like an hour ? I had a “moment” ?... but that was like 10 years ago when I was like 22 ... and I had the same mindset as Cici ... that long hair was an exceptional novelty amongst black women lol... but you grow older and wiser... I’m thankful for my hair falling out back then, because I wouldnt have been confident enough to started my natural hair journey 10 years ago. And I couldn’t have appreciated my hair at various lengths. ??

  • Dowoop

  • T Willis

Girl stawp ?... Russell is rich... and to quote Chris Rock "but the white man who signs his check is wealthy..” talbout paying everybody’s bills ?... gurl...

“I ain’t talking ’bout rich, I’m talking ’bout wealth. Wealth is passed down from generation to generation. You can’t get rid of wealth. Rich is some shit you can lose with a crazy summer and a drug habit.”

Russell better invest well cause Cici gonna have him investing millions into her career, while she sitting up providing hair tutorials like an influencer on YouTube ??????

  • Paula Hameen

Ciara ‘s posts mirrors Khloé Kardashian’s posts in that she posts several times a day on trivial things we could care less about. Sometimes you can posts tooooooo much and people will start to wonder what’s really going on?

  • Kimberly King

I’m natural and I have 3C/4A hair at bra strap length. I’ve never dyed my hair and I’ve never (and will never) use heat on my hair. My mom isn’t natural, but has long hair as well. Just do what makes you happy. I stopped getting perms years ago, because my scalp couldn’t take it due to a pre existing condition. It’s just hair. We all have a choice. However, I will say that men down here in TX love women with natural hair. ??

  • YouWontSayItButIWill

Have y'all seen the curly wig that Beyoncé is wearing that her stylist is claiming...it is all her hair. It's just getting worse and worse. These celebrities and their blatant lies are at all time high.

  • YouWontSayItButIWill

They're not worth $1.29. She needs to lower they price. $1.29 is far too expensive for her songs.

  • Pri_45

Me!!! So that's a thing? I even changed hairdressers because I assumed they messed my hair up

  • Let them eat cake

it is. happened to my sister as well.

  • MsPam

    Yes!

  • YouWontSayItButIWill

She can't let it down because she doesn't have hair on the sides or in the front of her head. When you let it down...it is very noticeable then.. Look closely to the front and where her hair starts. No sides whatsoever. I went through the same phase when I finally took the sew ins out. The hair is stressed extremely on the sides, font of the head and in the back bottom. She ONLY has hair in the crown area of her head.

  • BlockingTrollsAllYearLong

They sure do, honey! They are tired of the middle parts & laced fronts.

  • Soda

I'm so sick of natural hair products. Whether it's a high end brand or one from The Dollar Tree, I get the same results --- first time using it, hair looks fantastic, next time not so much. I don't understand this obsession with having long hair that is then kept protected under a wig or weave. Is it being saved for a special occasion? Something for your man to pull on? For your grandkids to brag about? What?

  • Kiks

You had to call African women. I hope you are not black.

  • Victorious82

Why is she holding it like that? I’m smelling some trickery here. I don’t trust that Ciara. She does too much for the gram.

  • Allihave2say

Sadly they are the ideal idols of many women. A lot of sisters don't know that natural hair length (relaxed too) is achievable for black women. Some need to see it. There are neighborhoods of women who's edges have jumped the curb. they need to see how other women tress.

  • imright

IG...?????its really thin tho ?she clearly still perms her hair. & it SHOULD have some length after years of being braided under those dry wigs she wears

  • T Willis

Lmao I’ve asked myself those same questions. I started off with “natural products” and in the beginning it was cool, but, I don’t know if ingredients changed or what, but, suddenly the products started drying out my hair and the cost of the products nearly doubled. I decided I was too broke to drop $50 on the latest natural hair product a week lol. I just went back to hair products that produced results, rather than what the ingredients said. However... studies have been done and it’s been observed that a lot of products that black women use are lethal and dangerous to our respiratory health, and gynecologic. Now, we don’t all need to go natural lol (although we should lol), but we definitely need to be more cognizant of products and chemicals that we put in our hair. These studies are identifying where and why we’re most vulnerable to preventable diseases and illnesses. We can’t turn a blind eye to our health - especially when it’s something as silly as haircare.

  • Li-Wright

IN MY building. They do not wear the best wigs. They look raggedy. I give Lupita credit, she works with HER hair in the movies and I do wish my African sisters wouldn't throw a wign on.

No she had a pixie cut before that

  • free

    yes, it's hormonal and real.

  • 2gr8ful

    Truth

  • 2gr8ful

Exactly, why hid it if you want to be free and natural. Protective styles are not for me, I moisturize regularly and good to go. I understand protecting your ends from time to time but not 100% of the time am I hiding my hair.

  • Bossy704

This is a build up to hawk some potion to the masses. My hair looks better.

  • Legacy

Because it’s thin and stringy and would most likely not look cute hanging down. Looks very heat-damaged. I’ll be impressed when she learns to appreciate her natural coils/curls and show that off cuz this mess aint it!!

  • Legacy

I had a couple of little bald spots in the back of my hair and a small part of my edges were thin but luckily my hair is so thick that it wasn’t visible or noticeable. That ish sucks!! I think it was also due to stress.

  • Legacy

Make sure to buy the one with Lavender oil in it or mix it yourself cuz jbco can really make u itch badly lol!

  • Legacy

YES! People don’t understand how tedious it can be to do extremely thick, kinky hair. Especially since this texture requires more effort to keep it moist and you also have to be more gentle because it's more prone to breakage. It’s both a blessing and a curse to have thick, healthy hair!

  • smartchickfl

Thnx! Will def give that a try.
