Rapper Boosie and a former NFL player were arrested on Monday afternoon in Newnan, GA, following a traffic stop on the outskirts of Atlanta. Sgt. Jeff Bugg with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office pulled over a white Dodge Charger being driven by the rapper for allegedly changing lanes illegally.

When the officer approached the driver’s side window, he detected a strong pungent odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. That gave the officer probable cause to search the vehicle.

A baggie of marijuana and a vial of suspected THC oil were found stuffed between the passenger seat and the door. An unregistered 9mm handgun was found under the passenger’s seat. A vape pen and a bag of cash were also recovered from the vehicle.

Boosie, whose real name is Torrence Hatch Jr., and his passenger, former NY Jets player Antonio Allen, were taken into custody and booked into the Coweta County jail.

The 36-year-old rapper was charged with drug possession, possession of a firearm while committing a crime, and failure to maintain lane. He is also charged with a felon in possession of a firearm.

Allen, 30, was charged with drug possession and possession of a firearm while committing a crime. Boosie admitted to driving while talking on his phone, a misdemeanor in Georgia.

Both men are currently in jail awaiting a bond hearing.
