Janelle Monáe won the Best Dressed celebrity award on day one at the 2019 Wimbledon Tennis Championships on Monday, July 01, in London, England. The 33-year-old singer was in attendance as 15-year-old Cori Gauff stunned veteran tennis player Venus Williams.

Janelle wore a smart-looking grey, red and white striped minidress which she topped off with a red beret cap, while her personal assistant Nathaniel Irvin dressed sharply in a grey men’s tailored double breasted suit. Janelle and Nathaniel sat in the VIP box with Rebel Wilson, Lottie Tomlinson and more.

Janelle took to Twitter afterwards to say she “witnessed the future” after Cori defeated her idol Venus Williams who, at 39, is nearing retirement. The 9th grader won in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. “I want to be the greatest,” Cori said after the match.

Cori set a record by becoming the youngest ever to qualify for the main draw at Wimbledon. She is the youngest ever finalist in the girls’ singles event at the US Open and she was the second-youngest to win the U.S. Open Junior event in 2018.
