Slutty Vegan is set to open its 2nd location in Atlanta and third overall restaurant at 482 Edgewood Avenue. Owner Pinky Cole made the announcement at a one-year anniversary party on Tuesday, featuring a DJ set from Jermaine Dupri.

Former Atlanta mayor Kasim Reed attended the party and declared August 5 "Slutty Vegan Day." Cole also handed out 1,500 pounds of fruits and vegetables to happy customers who turned out at Slutty Vegan earlier in the day.

Slutty Vegan exploded in popularity thanks to viral marketing campaigns by celebrities and bloggers. The 100% plant-based burgers are a huge hit with college students and customers from all walks of life.

The concept began as a food truck with "Slutty Strips" of realistic-looking bacon and plant-based burgers on the menu. The food truck was so popular - and the lines were so long - that Cole branched out to a brick-and-mortar location in Jonesboro, GA.

The restaurant continues to draw long lines and wait times of over an hour have been reported.

Rappers, politicians, and bloggers can easily jump the line and get their bags of food to go before the supply runs out.

The Edgewood eatery will likely open next year, Atlanta Business Chronicle reports.

I'm anemic. Not jumping on the vegan bandwagon. I need flesh.

  • SugarFoot a.k.a Ty

Yeah I heard about the lines being long as hell! I have a group meditation Saturday near Edgewood. I might check them out but I can't do lines in this heat chile :(

  • TriniHarlem

I'm excited to try it because I eat plant based mainly. Successful and black owned I'm in love. Most people will be turned off by the name but that got them attention and I totally understand the marketing behind it. Then again my fav word is cunt so there's that ?

  • jeniefrumdabloc™

Tried that whatever kind of meat burger the roses suggested ...... beyond meat ..... seasoning that meat ... the smell ....... something bout that smell turned me off. ..... when I cooked it ... chile tasted like I tasting the smell too ..... I said right there ... some shyt ain't for me ... hell I ain't got weight or cholesterol https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/c1425c997ed3319b16098cad0d4bebaabde80cd22860d557863b4ff2c949aed9.gif issue or high blood pressure ... Ima eat my meat ...... and that's that and Ima eat my pork fuggg folks ... eat what ya like

  • morenYAHdelsur

What’s the story behind the name though?

    Why slutty?

  • morenYAHdelsur

LOL I should’ve read this before commenting.

I just asked why slutty? Boom. Got it.

  • TriniHarlem

Beyond meat is not healthy I don't know why people don't read ingredients. I mainly eat plant based so I will not let you eat that shit

  • jeniefrumdabloc™
  • Cricket404

Hey Sandra, Edgewood makes 3, Ralph David Abernathy in the West End Community was the first, I see those lines everyday. Jonesboro isn't open yet.

  • Cricket404

Me too, I eat veggies for a good flush?

  • TriniHarlem

Her version of being slutty as a vegan was eating junk food. So when she used to eat junk food she would say I'm being a slut. That name took off because people kept asking her why a slut. Then boom name then boom it actually tastes good and people who swore meat is life tried it and couldn't believe how good it tastes. It works because a year later and slutty vegan is popular.

  • Brooklyn23

    Exactly. Thats soo....lame

  • Soda

Rappers, politicians, and bloggers can easily jump the line and get their bags of food to go before the supply runs out.

Only fools would wait in line to spend their hard earned money at a business that allows people to cut in, as if they are somehow better.

  • TriniHarlem

People eat what you eat but please be open to the hundreds of natural food that you haven't explored. Eating plant based isn't the end of life once you understand how to relearn what you've been taught. Give your body a break as well. And for the asshats I do eat meat once in awhile.

  • Sid

I have been. I am not Vegan but I don’t eat meat 3 days out of the week. And the food is really good. It’s fresh and flavorful. It’s worth visiting

  • jeniefrumdabloc™

It smelled like some plastic based shyt ..... whew .... Try give me da meats ... it works for my body ... I eat what my vessel craves ... and don't over induldge ...... like one day I wanted some pomegranate .... chile hadn't had since a child but craved it one day .... found out I was naturally yearning to detox ..... far as plant based .... If it's a plant I want ... I cook it and eat .... no big deal .... same with fish ... but I can not eat certain shell fish .... like mussels clams found out that I was allergic chile .... https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/51c6b3f7a6512ebaa1918af76267cbf3565dd650397e2957034187e652b8b8a3.gif

  • MrsSpice1

I like it. I think its cute & hilarious, ironically food can be orgasmic ?!

  • KcoolMuziq

I just added Burger King's new plant based Impossible Burger to my new Vegan regimen and that burger is DELICIOUS! U CAN NOT tell the difference from an unhealthy beef burger.

BTW it will be launched worldwide this Thursday.

  • Mr.LeBrickJames

I guess they were trying to be cute or clever with that name, but it's a turn-off to me. When I see items on the menu with names like Menage-a-Trois, Super Slut, and One Night Stand, it just seems like they're kinda doing too much.
Not feeling it. It's a no for me.

  • Renee26

    Congrats to her!!

I personally don't like long lines or waits at resturants regardless of the hype surrounding them. I'd wait til the hype died down then go when I can walk in and be seated within a few minutes.

I went on a bus trip years ago and they went to a Sweetie Pies, cause it was all the rave at the time. Sooo long of a line and the food was mediocre at best. I said never again.

Same thang with those nasty ass Pattie Pies, just cause people hype it up doesn't make it grand

  • KLove

Thats the thing...the hype has been going on for a couple of years now, and doesnt look to be dying down at all

  • Renee26

    Somebody said they dress sexy

Sexualizing the black body got the attention she wanted and her business is boomin behind that theme.

  • Raquel

It's befitting seeing the location. ?

  • Renee26

LMAO... The slut energy gonna get in ya body??

  • Soda

Found this: "Knowing that sex sells, the Baltimore native intentionally wanted a business name that would pique people’s curiosity and be a conversation starter. Once that conversation is started, one will find that it really has nothing to do with sex at all but about a plant-based burger joint that happens to have a sexy menu consisting of burgers and fries."

  • joel adams

They use the SAME impossible burger patty that Burger King uses. Tf???

  • Renee26

I looked at the ingredients of the Beyond burger and didn't see enough veggies but saw plenty of man made crap... Hard pass!!

Those burgers are 'Impossible Burgers' NOT 100% PLANT BASE....... but who cares? let's pay $20 anyway.... from the write up... I can tell my Aunt is a fan..... so I will be short

GMO Impossible Burger has tested positive for glyphosate. Glyphosate is known to the State of California to cause cancer.

But don't mind little ole me........ get sluttified https://media1.giphy.com/media/AmDzMmCJZABsk/giphy.gif

Not for me. It also cracks me up when these vegan dishes are named after their actual flesh counterparts. Vegan mac and "cheese"? Nah son, it's mac and ground up almond sauce. /rant

  • C Mack

Whew ppl can’t say congratulations for nothing! Some of y’all couldn’t wait to complain about the line but I bet you’ll sit and wait for some McDonalds or Chik Fil A lol.

S/o to her for continued success as a black business owner. The line is cool for socializing. Don’t go alone. Slutty Vegan is a cool outing not a grab and go

  • free

that's right! i forgot about carnivore lol. that's me too. i don't need sides. i got chi-chi in the white part of town and tried to eat a burger with lettuce instead of a bun. f*ck that too.

don't try it. i got a bad college story about it. wasn't me, thank God, but put it like this, the chick had to walk the floor of the dorm apologizing the next morning.

Chile... Her back story is an interesting one and I wish her ALL the success in the world!

I don’t think it’s sold in ATL yet. They original veggie burger wasn’t good. I asked one time how they cook it and the worker there said they warm it in microwave. It was a boca veggie burger. I stopped paying 6 dollars for something I could do. Then it’s too many Vegan spots I could try

  • E-VannaRootsAllEvil

    Nope. Microwaved I asked

  • TriniHarlem

It's a farce. No damn nutrition. Gimmick which further let's people go with the narrative that dead flesh is better than plants .

    ^^^^^^^
Funny ass one about them. My sister-cuz works for Edward Jones for almost 20 years, and their headquarters is in STL. She has to go 2-3 times a year for meetings and trainings and what not. When the hype FIRST started about that place she was like I CANNOT wait to go when I am back out there in STL. Few months later she has a mandatory training...in the STL offices. She was like BET. Her and all her Raleigh colleagues who traveled to same meeting went. GIRL. She said that shit was such TRASH that one of the ladies was like we oughta go BACK tomorrow after the first session, and picket their asses.

Oh and them Patty Pies...yeah ok. Tasted manufactured as hell. I can make my own pies, crust and all (with real butter) and make a killing. Trust me, you'll know the difference when real butter is used and you steam or bake them sweet potatos from scratch.

That burger looks just like the turkey burgers I make. Looks good. If I ever find myself in Atlanta I will definitely make it my business to go.

..... You can use chickpeas. black beans. brown rice, quinoa, kale, variety of nuts, cauliflower rice, spinach, spices and herbs etc and I PROMISE you.. You will NEVER want another veggie burger outside of your home........... I think it's the sauce @ SV is what got everyone hyped up.. But hey that's ATL.. everybody want to say I was trending.....

  • Dowoop

My sister complains about the same thing and her nails have started to yellow. She had to add eggs back to her diet.

  • Let them eat cake

but isn't the point not to lust over meat? i mean ppl go vegan for all types of reasons but in general i would think the point is to not obsess over meat and making things look , smell and taste like it. shrug.

I get it. We should support our own. But first of all I aint vegan. I got food allergies, I cant afford to eradicate not one thing out of my diet. Why am I going to take an hour out of my life the next time Im in ATL to stand in line for something I dont want to eat...all to "support"? Folks is strange af.

  • Rent em Spoons ?????????

It’s just a bridge/ transition love , it’s harder for some to go cold turkey after years of being a carnivore. Also , some people choose to be vegan or a vegetarian for different reasons like food sustainability outside of meat. Some people are not 100 percent vegans and choose to incorporate more veggies etc. ultimately if the end goal is a more “ greener “ world , then it’s a win win situation.

  • Rent em Spoons ?????????

Has anyone tried the burgers ? I don’t live in GA but wondering Are they better than “ impossible burger “ or “Beyond burger “ .

Either way , it’s good to see what seems like a Black owned Business thriving.

  • KneeSee

    ?

  • Dowoop

I don't know why ppl always assume we just don't support our own. I cannot support every black owned business so I support the ones that work for me and $20 vegan burgers don't work for me. I also don't wait an hr for take out food. If I wanted to wait an hr I'd cook my own food.

Finally! Someone with some sense & knowledge in these comments. People need to research GMO's & the highly adverse effects it has on the body. Unless you eat organic/non-gmo, you are poisoning yourself daily with your food choices. Keep on thinking you can eat anything & still live your best life, your choices will inevitably catch up with you through ill health, guaranteed.

People buy those burgers up like hotcakes. I see so much vegan crap in whole foods that people are actually buying. Vegan hotdogs, pancakes, cheese, etc. I'm like what's the point; it's all processed crap.

  • Li-Wright

How much does it cost? That's a whole lot of calories.

  • Li-Wright

    How many calories?

  • Lona nods

yeah i agree. i'm glad she has a successful business and able to do another location but i can't and won't stand in line that long for anything. when she mentioned that she uses the impossible burger patties i tried a burger made with one of these at vortex and hudson and it's a really good vegan burger patty. i may give hers a try one day but right now the lines have to get more manageable for me. plus burger king is selling this impossible burger now nationwide so if anyone wants to try for a little less money it's there.

  • speakinmymind

I live closeby, am a vegetarian and I haven't tried it because I refuse to stand in line for an hour or longer for my food. Burger21 has the Impossible burger and i absolutely love it...and i didn't have to wait in line in the blazing Atlanta heat!

She needs to come up with a better plan to service customers because no fast food spot should have a 2 hour wait.

'Splain that shit Rent'em!!?? I'm a new vegetarian (just a few months). I actually just got tired of meat and gradually phased in a plant based diet. I still eat eggs occasionally but that's getting fewer and farther between. I don't know if it's getting older or what but I literally just got tired of meat.

  • speakinmymind

Vannna...we're close neighbors. I'm in Audubon Forest off Cascade! I said up above that I'll never try it cuz I will never stand in line for 2 hours, hell not even an hour, for fast food. I don't even wait at restaurants longer than 20-30 mins. The older I get, the more I make reservations...for brunch, lunch and dinner.

  • speakinmymind

@9...this made me ???...reminded me of Eddie Murphy's barber character in Coming to America..."It ain't nothin but a ultra perm!" ???

  • speakinmymind

Try it...you might like that. There are tons of vegetarian recipes online and Pinterest.

  • speakinmymind

Nope, wouldn't wait in line at ANY fast food joint or restaurant for an hour or longer. I applaud her success, but she needs to get the wait time down significantly for me to patronize her business.

  • speakinmymind

Pinterest has some excellent plant based burger recipes. I prefer to prepare my own food - even my Irish moss - so I know exactly what's in it.

  • speakinmymind

Vanna, it's rolling out in Atlanta sometime this month.

  • speakinmymind

Zackly! Knowing that makes me never want to go there.

Thank you and yeah impossible burgers taste like real hamburger meat ,it’s scary.

  • Rent em Spoons ?????????

    Impossible burgers are amazing.
    Almost like the real thing.

  • Rent em Spoons ?????????

Congrats, it’s definitely a process and you notice a better / healthier change in a short time. I doubt that I’ll ever become fully vegan , maybe pescatarian with veggies, fish , and seafood , but the cut out of red meat and pork was a must.

  • Rent em Spoons ?????????

I feel you , a fully vegan diet is a process . Have you tried impossible burgers ? Burger King will start selling them at all locations starting next month . Trust and give it a try, you’d be hard pressed to say it wasn’t meat. There are tons of YouTube blind test videos where they have impossible burgers vs real burgers and people chose impossible burgers.

    The impossible veggie burgers from
White Castle actually taste better than the real meat ones. The only downside is that impossible burger uses soy versus beyond veggie burgers. Both taste great and many places are selling them like hot cakes .

  • Rent em Spoons ?????????

At the rate the world consumes meat , it may become scarce and not sustainable . Also the cows and farming is detrimental to the environment. The world is getting bigger and You can only breed and kill so many cows.

This doesn’t even cover medical conditions that you can develop later like GOUT where your body has issues with uric acid and breaking down proteins found in meats such as red meat .

    Everything in moderation ofcourse.

  • Rent em Spoons ?????????

Not even that but it has soy . Impossible burgers taste amazing , but I try to avoid processed soy at all costs .

I heard beyond burger is a lot safer . Impossible Burger uses a lab made plant based iron . The iron is what gives impossible burger it’s meat taste. Beyond burger is all natural . Only had it at Del taco , it doesn’t taste like Burger but it doesn’t taste bad at all or like veggies , hard to explain.

  • Logan Roberts

This was happen like 3 or 4 years ago. I lost all my butt, hips & thighs, my man was like nah baby lol. My doctor said I need meat, so I usually eat baked chicken, salmon and I'll have a burger once a month.

  • Rent em Spoons ?????????

Yeah but even that is becoming a harder task . I heard that 80 percent of corn that we consumed is GMO.

  • Rent em Spoons ?????????

Yeah that’s why I asked earlier . While it tastes great , I hate soy . I’m trying beyond burger soon , it’s 100 percent organic and has no soy . They also went public with an ipo recently so they are popping up everywhere , even in publix

  • Rent em Spoons ?????????

Not all locations but Nation wide starting next month

  • Rent em Spoons ?????????

It is but the Jury is still out on impossible Burgers . They use soy based and use lab made gmo iron from soy plants

Beyond burger hamburgers I heard are just as good in their own way. And it’s organic unlike impossible

  • Slim Goodie

Bruh that line be long and folks be waiting for HOURS to get one. That said, I will never know lol

  • Rhyme and Reason

Exactly! That’s good you take the time to prepare your own food. I mostly bake, use Ninja Foodie for meat, make steamed veggies or green smoothies.

I gotta work my up to preparing dishes!

  • Rent em Spoons ?????????

    Lol

  • Rent em Spoons ?????????

    Lol! ???

  • Rent em Spoons ?????????

Lol , I ain’t mad at you that part then.

  • Rent em Spoons ?????????

Great question ,Burger kings are cooked separate to my understanding but Hardees/ carl’s Jr I think use the same grill to cook beyond burgers.

  • SpiceGirl

Not sure....but the Doc say he is healthy!!

  • Mama Dee’s Wig Maker

Did a google search and I see it's gonna be right beside my favorite pizza spot. Ok then, I'll have to stop by before the crowd hits.
