President Donald Trump has reversed his decision to host the 2020 G-7 summit at his lavish Trump Doral resort near Miami.

The president will no longer consider his golf resort and hotel for the G-7 summit after media outlets and lawmakers accused him of violating the Constitution.

“We will no longer consider Trump National Doral, Miami, as the Host Site for the G-7 in 2020,” Mr. Trump tweeted on Saturday. “We will begin the search for another site, including the possibility of Camp David, immediately.”

Mick Mulvaney, the acting White House chief of staff, announced on Thursday that the 2020 Group of 7 summit would be held at President Trump’s luxurious Doral resort near Miami at no cost to taxpayers since he owns it.

But the moment the venue was announced, critics complained loudly that Trump was violating the so-called foreign emoluments clause.

Democratic lawmakers, celebrities and reporters on Twitter got in their jabs as well.
They cited statistics that showed revenue falling off as much as 65% at Trump National Doral over the last 3 years.

“I thought I was doing something very good for our Country by using Trump National Doral, in Miami, for hosting the G-7 Leaders,” Trump tweeted on Saturday.

“It is big, grand, on hundreds of acres, next to MIAMI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, has tremendous ballrooms & meeting rooms, and each delegation would have its own 50 to 70 unit building. Would set up better than other alternatives. I announced that I would be willing to do it at NO PROFIT or, if legally permissible, at ZERO COST to the USA. But, as usual, the Hostile Media & their Democrat Partners went CRAZY!”

By canceling the G-7 summit at his resort in Miami, the president will avoid violating the Constitution and he will host the G-7 at Camp David – where some say he intended to host it all along.

The last time the G-7 summit was held at Camp David in Maryland was in 2012 when President Obama was in office.

At the time, the news media complained that Camp David was too small and the cramped bus ride took over an hour to get there.

They also complained about the unsavory food served by Obama at Camp David: chicken wings, cold cuts and turkey sandwiches.

If the G-7 was being held at Trump’s resort in Florida, they would have feasted on lobster, steak, shrimp cocktails and caviar.

Now reporters will pack bag lunches for their hour-long bus ride to Camp David in 2020.

The media played right into Trump’s hands by criticizing his decision to host the G-7 at his luxury resort in Miami.
