Damon Dash was arrested in New York on Wednesday, Nov. 20, after racking up more than $400,000 in outstanding child support.

The 48-year-old rap mogul stayed one step ahead of the police for several years after failing to make payments to ex-girlfriend Cindy Morales, with whom he shares a son, and his former wife, designer Rachel Roy, pictured above with one of their two daughters.

Complicating the troubled mogul’s financial difficulties is his fiancee, Raquel Horn (pictured), is pregnant with his fourth child.

Dash reportedly fled the Big Apple and relocated to the West Coast to avoid arrest, but he returned to NYC this week to try and clear up his legal troubles.

According to TMZ, Dash appeared in court to plead with a judge for leniency, claiming he was so broke he couldn’t afford $2,400 in fees.

Dash told the court he had no income and his current business ventures were not turning a profit, according to WENN.com.

But the police were unsympathetic. They clapped the handcuffs on him as he headed into a courthouse on Wednesday to settle a child support bill to Rachel Roy.

“We’ve been looking to arrest him since 2015,” Sheriff Joseph Fucito told the New York Post‘s Page Six. Fucito said Dash had 2 warrants for his arrest.

The first felony warrant, relating to child support for Morales, was issued in April, 2015, while a second warrant was issued by a Bronx Family Court judge in March after Dash skipped payments to Roy.

According to TMZ, Dash was taken into custody and escorted to Brooklyn, where he handed over money for the balance of his debt. He was subsequently released from custody.

Dash rose from humble beginnings sweeping up barbershops and selling newspapers as a teenager to co-founding Roc-A-Fella Records and Rocawear clothing with Jay-Z as a young adult.

He earned tens of millions of dollars as a music and fashion mogul over the course of his career.
